Hello guys,

I decide to add this chapter with some info about the P/D world behind this shot idea.

First, I would like to thank you for reading my story and reviewing it! English is not my first language, so forgive me for the errors.

As I had written in the comment section, we have in P/D Darcy and Lizzie getting together after some months. She visits Pemberley, Lidia runs away with Wickham, Darcy saves the family. After that, D/E and B/J's marriage happens.

My initial idea for a story I am trying to writing is what if it took years for D/E get together?. What happened? How they came back to each other?

Well, the basics points for this story are:

1. Darcy proposes at Rosings. Lizzie rejects him. He gives the letter and goes to London. She reads the letter.

2. In London, Darcy has one month of despair and self-isolation, internal struggle. Then he decides to tell Bingley about what he did and what he knows about Jane.

3. Bingley had approximately four months of dealing with his feelings after departing from Netherfield and before Darcy telling him the truth. So he had time to think about his life, his family and his desires. When he discover about Jane feellings he is ready to acting as his own man. He decide to go to Jane and ask for forgiveness and try to show that he loves her and had changed, that he would treat and love her as she deserved. B/J marries in june/1812.

4. Lizzie and Gardiners goes to Lambton. Lizzie visits Pemberley. But, D/E meet at Pemberley does not happens. Darcy stays in London.

5. Around the ending of July/19812. Charles, and Jane cameback to London. Lidia goes to Brighton. Lizzie is in Lambton. Darcy is in London.

6. August 1812, Lidias elopes. Bingley and Mr Bennets searchs for her. Bingley asks to Darcy about Wickham. Darcy and Colonel Fitzwilliam searchs for Lidia independently of Bingley and Mr. Bennet. Lidia's and Wickham's bodies are found by Darcy/Colonel/Police colab. However, The Bennets and Bingleys does not know Darcy/Colonel participation in finding Lidia.

7. Then, It takes some years to D/E to meet. In the mean time, they are both growing, healing, learning about themselves, about others. Traveling, meeting new people. Their families changes. They change.

8. In my original story the colonel almost does not appear. However, this shot is the result of what if Colonel meets Lizzie in this period where D/E has no contact.

9. The Colonel that I have in mind has little bit of the Colonel presented in the bbc adaptation Deaths cames to Pemberley (only a little bit). For the colonel is a man that survived battles and had come to grow as his own man. Also, in sense of timeline, it is 1814, when he falls for E.

10. Before and after Lizzie's rejection, in my mind, the colonel has no urgence in getting married in war time. My idea of his personality is of a man decided to be more than a spare, of having recognition because of himself. For him, being a soldier is the clear path for it. So why marry if he coud die in the war? He does not want a wife (before E.) because would be a high society lady chosen by his family. In Rosings, he has yet to go to the continent (in my mind) so he was more influenced by high society views of money and marriage. Only after going in real battles, having scars in his body, mind and heart, could he appreciate someone as Lizzie, a poor, strong, intelligent yet kind woman. After E., he had to continuing his work at the war, staying alive and deal with his family expectations. He had no much time to really think about what happened. Also, to survive he had to be pratical.

11. When I was writing this shot, I was not sure about the end of the proposal. Would Lizzie accepted? Like, she had no contact with Darcy and no hopes about him. However, Would her live well with the decision of marriyng Colonel and getting constant contact with Darcy? How would the three of them deal with the outcome of that marriage. In this point, Colonel didn't know about Darcy's love for Lizzie or their past. Also, I always prefer D/E HEA. Sorry.

12. After the rejection, the colonel had two more years of war. Only after the war he get to the point of thinking about his family, his future and also about his past.

13. About the nieces: when writing this shot, I considered the girls as being richard's brother daugthers.

14. It makes sense that the Colonel knows that Darcy's love is Lizzie, because Richard is in the beginning talking about how much she impacted his life and he changed in response. However, I think Darcy knows not.

I got that one shot always give us a lot of questions and desire for a more detailed construction. I hope this info helps you!

In summary, when I was writing the idea was the Colonel thinking about Darcy, why he did not marry. I wasn't initially thinking about Colonel meeting Lizzie or falling for her. In some moment, this turn to be more about the colonel then about Darcy. I think the ending of this would be Colonel letting Lizzie in his past as his first love, he would marry another, having his HEA. We would have also D/E getting together.

Thank you guys!
