Chapter 3 Slipstream get's back to training
Slipstream and Jetstorm were busy training with the others. Jetstorm was doing well as was Slipstream. Then as Slipstream was climbing he slipped and landed on his arm. "Ow," Slipstream said.
"You okay Slipstream?" Jetstorm asked. "That was some fall," he said.
"Yes I think so," Slipstream said.
They made it across and Slipstream was rubbing at his arm. "That's sore," Slipstream said.
"You took a hard fall out their my student let me look at your arm," Drift said.
Slipstream extended his sore arm. Drift looked it over as did Fixit. "It isn't broke or sprained, just badly bumped, so it is going to be sore for a while," Fixit explained.
"That is good to hear," Drift said. "Ready to get back to training?" he asked.
"Yes teacher," Jetstorm said.
"I think I will take a breather as the humans say, my arm is sore," Slipstream said.
"I thought that might be the case, just watch for a while and you can get back to it," Drift said.
"Yes teacher," Slipstream said.
Slipstream was watching the others train. The next day Slipstream wasn't joining in the physical part of training due to his arm being still kind of sore. Russell had a feeling that Slipstream was afraid.
It proved correctly as the next day Slipstream just wanted to watch again.
"Guys I think Slipstream is afraid after what happened yesterday," Russell said. "I think he is afraid to train because he is worried about getting hurt again," he said.
"I think so too," Bumblebee said.
"How can I convince my student he has nothing to fear?" Drift asked.
"I think I can help," Russell said. He went to go talk to Slipstream. "Hey Slipstream," he said.
"Hello Russell,' Slipstream said.
"Why aren't you training with the others?" Russell asked.
"I got a sore arm," Slipstream asked.
"Well not to sore to use it easily," Russell said who was watching him. "I think you are stopped being sore some time ago," he said.
"How did you figure that out?" Slipstream asked.
"I just been observing what was going on," Russell said. "I think you are scared," he said. "I think you are worried about getting hurt again, or possibly failing a mission because of what happened," he said.
"Maybe but I don't know what else to do," Slipstream.
"I remember I was once in similar dilemma," Russell said.
"How?' Slipstream asked.
"I was 7 and I was the only one in my class who still had training wheels on his bike, so I had my parents take off the training wheels," Russell said. "I was being taught how to ride without my training wheels. Then I feel of my bike and scrapped my knee badly," he said.
"What did you do?' Slipstream asked.
"I thought about giving up at first," Russell said. "But I remembered something my dad told what they say in the west," he said. "When you fall off a horse your dust yourself and get back on again and ride," he said.
"I don't quite understand," Slipstream said.
"What it means is, keep trying and don't give up, even when something like that happens, because you can't let fear take away what you are good at, love to do and need to do," Russell said. "That is why I am now able to ride a bike without training wheels," he said.
Slipstream thought about and realized that Russell was right.
So Slipstream head to where the team was training. He took a deep breath and proceed to train with them. "So you finally decided to train with us?' Side swipe asked.
"Yes," Slipstream said. "I guess I just learned when you fall off a horse you should dust yourself off and get back on again and ride," he said.
Russell nodded and smiled.
"I don't understand," Grimlock said.
"It's an old saying from the west as Russell told me, he told me it means to keep trying, even when you get hurt or fail, because you can't let fear take away what you are good at, what you love to do, and what you need to do," Slipstream said.
"Sounds like a very important lesson that has been learned," Drift said. "Thank you for helping my student," he said.
"No problem," Russell said.
Slipstream was glad to be back to training. He now knows what to do when this happens again.
To be continued.
