Cassandra was deep in thought while she and Cordelia waited for Xander and Duncan to return. As a seer, she sometimes saw or knew things she couldn't articulate. Just telling someone something, didn't have as much impact as them figuring it out for themselves. Consequently, she knew Xander and Cordelia both had a special destiny. Not that she yet knew what that destiny was. She also knew, as the Oracles had told the fangless vampire, she was to help guide them in figuring it out. The sound of a car drew her out of her thoughts.
"They're back." Cordelia said, from where she'd been reading a book. She thought Cassandra was meditating. "I wonder what Xander's weapon is going to be."
"Nakano has already finished it."
"But he just met Xander today."
"He's a seer, Cordelia, he knows more about Xander, then Xander knows about himself. He will have crafted the perfect weapon for him."
Duncan held the door open and motioned Xander in ahead of him, they both saw Cassandra and Cordelia waiting for them.
"Well, let me see it." Cordelia said impatiently. "Where is it?"
Xander drew his ax from the dimensional pocket Duncan had taught him to make.
"How did you do that?" Cordelia asked, when she it appear out of thin air.
"Dimensional pocket, Duncan showed me how to make it."
"Wow." Cordelia said, awed. "That looks more like a work of art."
"It does." Cassandra agreed. "And rare, I only know of two immortals that use axes, Kanwulf the Destroyer, a viking and Caleb Cole, neither could really be described as nice guys."
"We've had that discussion, I'm a good guy because I choose to be a good guy." Xander said.
"Oh you so know I'd kick your ass if you decided not to be." Cordelia pointed out.
"Like my moral compass."
"Kinda of explains why Nakano called her your heart." Duncan pointed out.
"This Nakano guy said that?" Cordelia asked.
"He greeted me as the Defender of Man and said my heart was whole now. I told him, now that I have my heart back, of course it's whole."
Cordelia beamed at him.
"What else did Nakano say?" Cassandra asked, knowing it was important.
"He said the Oracles told the fangless vampire that even I don't know everything about myself and that in the fullness of time, I would see what they mean. And then he said my heart also does not know everything about herself."
"And Xander told me that Nakano was being both literal and figurative, because Cordelia's name means heart of the sea and she's his heart."
"So there's things we don't know about ourselves, but eventually we will?" Cordelia said, uncertainty.
"It relates to your destinies." Cassendra said. "The Oracles said that to Angel as well."
"Nakano also said, when Cordelia is ready, he'll forge a weapon worthy of you as well." Xander told her.
"Something that looks pretty like yours, I hope." She grinned at him. "I expect only the best after all."
"Of course you do, my Queen. By the way this ax is actually two axes, it splits into two." Xander demonstrated. "I'm used to using an ax that requires a two handed grip, I need to learn how to use these."
"I never learned how to use an ax for anything other then splitting wood, but I'll find a teacher for you. If Nakano says that's the best weapon for you, then that's the one you need to be using." Duncan said decisively. He'd taken responsibility for Xander and that included not just teaching him what he knew, but what he needed to know.
"Thanks. For now, I'll just make sure it's secured and continue learning to use a sword."
"I wonder what my weapon will be?" Cordelia mused.
"Something suitable for a hunter, I'm certain." Cassandra said.
"Cassandra, did you see something?" Duncan asked.
"Just a certainty." She said mysteriously. "What else did Nakano say, I feel it's important."
"He said I'm a game changer and I've been Blessed by Chaos and I bring the winds of change. I hope he doesn't mean wind literally, I don't want to be doing more Magic then is necessary."
"We'll find out eventually." Duncan assured him. "But I don't think it has to do with Magic. Nakano would know of your distaste for it and said something specifically about it. More likely, you'll be responsible for something changing."
"Would be great if it was the Game I could change."
"It would." Cassandra agreed. "In the meantime, we need to make arrangements for Faith to be moved. I can't risk going to Sunnydale. I can help her heal, but it has to be away from that place."
"I can call Grace, she's an immortal, a doctor and an old friend."
"Girlfriend." Cassandra coughed. "One who became a friend to his then girlfriend Tessa, who also was a doctor."
"Two of your girlfriend became friends?" Xander said. "Where did you hide when they were talking?"
"Joe's bar. He's my Watcher and friend, he owns a blues bar."
"Hey, Cordy. You want to go to a blues bar for a date? They serve things other then alcohol, right?" Xander asked Duncan.
"Yes, they do." He answered.
"Sounds like fun." Cordelia agreed. The two left to get ready for a date and Duncan went to to call Grace and make arrangements for Faith.
"Cassandra, could you make sure Xander and Cordelia have the address to Joe's bar? I'm going to see about making arrangements for someone to teach Xander about using his axes."
"No problem." She assured him and returned to her thoughts. Blessed by Chaos, what did that mean?
