Hatori looked at him. "She isn't dead. Akito is not her killer. She said that she wanted to go to the Soma estate to speak with Akito. And calm down. Shigure went with her. We wouldn't let her go alone." Kyo scoffed.
"That isn't much of a comfort. Shigure is still bonded to Akito. What if she asks Shigure to hand her over? Shigure won't be able to defy her." said Yuki. Hatori looked at both boys. "You need to stop worrying about your own fears and trust that Tohru can protect herself and she is going to Akito for a reason."
Fear coursed through Kyo and he sat down on the porch and he tried to get his breathing under control. Tohru walked up the street to the main estate, her heart racing with every step she took. She stopped when she looked at who was standing at the main door. It was Kazuma. They stopped and looked at him.
"Kazuma, what are you doing here?" asked Shigure. Kazuma walked to them. "Kyo called me in a panic. I figured I could tag along, give him peace of mind." Tohru nodded. She wanted to have Kyo instead of Shigure but she knew of his temper when it came to Akito. And there was a possibility that Kyo could make the situation worse.
They walked through the estate of the Somas and she looked at the different houses. She stopped when she saw the main house. Where Akito was. Fear gripped her heart and she was really starting to crave Kyo to be by her side.
Shigure stopped next to her and put his hand on her shoulder. She looked up at him. "I know that you trust Kyo the most because of how close you are. But believe me, I will do whatever I need to protect you from what could happen to you." said Shigure. Tohru nodded. "Thank you."
They walked through the halls and across the porches of the main house. Tohru was stopped at a door. She turned to Shigure and he nodded. Shigure knocked on the door. "Akito, you have some visitors."
He opened the door and there was a sliver of light in her room. She turned and looked at the group. "How in the hell are you still alive? You really are nothing more than a cockroach, Tohru Honda."
Tohru stood there and looked at Akito. "I am here to talk to you if you would like to hear me out." Akito started to pace. "Talk about what? How much better you are than me? How much purer you are than me?" She spit the words out like venom.
Tohru shook her head. Akito stopped and stood in front of her. "Or are you going to take more of my Zodiac members?" Tohru shook her head. "I'm not here to take anyone from you Akito. I am here to be your friend." Akito scoffed. "Oh, so you can be the selfless pure girl to befriend the selfish dirty God?"
Tohru shook her head. "No, I just want to be your friend because I can see that you're lonely." Akito's bangs covered her eyes. "Are you happy? You won." Tohru looked at her. Akito raised her head, her eyes visible. "Everyone likes you."
"I AM all alone, thanks to you. A mistake. The bad guy." Tears filled Tohru's eyes. 'I can finally see you, Akito. Your fear. Your sadness.'
Tohru went to hug Akito. She panicked and slashed her arm with a knife that she had hidden in the sleeves of her robe. Tohru flinched slightly. "Stay away from me! You make me sick!" She screamed at Tohru.
Kazuma went to take a step. Shigure stopped him by putting a hand on his shoulder. Tohru looked at Akito. "The reason you keep talking about "eternity" and "unchanging" things is because otherwise, it's scary." said Tohru with tears in her eyes.
"It's too scary for you to bear." Akito's eyes widened and she dropped the knife to the ground. Akito slapped Tohru hard across the face. "Shut up!" another slap. "You know nothing of me!" Another slap. "You are talking down on me!? YOU!?" Another slap.
Shigure takes a step. Tohru turned around and raised her hand. Telling Shigure that she was okay. Shigure looked at Akito and went back to Tohru. She gave her smile. Shigure nodded and took a step back.
Tohru turned and looked at Akito. "I'm dirty." Akito looked at her with shock. "The truth is even as I rejected your eternity I wished for the very same thing you have." Flashes of Kyoko saying her name and laughing. "Unchanging feelings. People and feelings can't be bound down."
Tohru picked her head back up. She looked back at Akito. And that's stung you your whole life. Your existence HAS been sad. HAS been painful. HAS been lonely, hasn't it, Akito?" Tears start to stream down Akito's face.
Akito screamed. "I don't want this! Why!?" she screamed. She got up and ran away hysterically crying. Shigure went to go after her. Shigure feels a pull on his Hakama. It was from Tohru. "Please, let me follow her." Shigure nodded.
Tohru took off after Akito. "Akito!" she reaches for Akito's hand and grabs on. Akito stops and rips her hand from Tohru's. "I'm done! It's too late to realize that now!" Akito grabbed Tohru by her shirt. Tohru gently put her hand over Akito's.
"In that case, start with me, Akito." Akito jumped away and looked at Tohru with shock. Tohru held out her hand with a warm smile. "Hello, my name is Tohru Honda. I'd like you to be my friend, Akito." Akito looked at her with shock.
She sobs and slaps Tohru's hand from her. "Liar! If I complain you'll get mad at me. You'll stop liking me. You'll throw me away, cast me out of your life!" she yelled angrily. Tohru smiled warmly and lovingly.
"No, I won't. Because I have found you Akito. I see you Akito. So clearly." Tears stream down Akito's face. Sobs shook her. She collapsed into Tohru's arms and her tears soaked through Tohru's shirt. Tohru closed her eyes and rested her chin on Akito's head.
"I was jealous." Torhu's eyes opened her eyes. "That was it. I hated you, resented you. Compared to me you're so pretty and pure." Tohru sighed. She pushed Akito away so she could look at her. "The thing is though, I'm really not."
Akito looked at her with shock. "Please don't use words like that to separate people into categories. To keep everyone at arm's length. You think that we are different because I'm pure and pretty."
"But the truth is, so are you." Akito looked at Tohru with shock. "When you cried out, confessing your loneliness and fear you were beautifully and heartbreakingly pure." Tohru fingers the tears from Akito's eyes.
"I'm someone who's trying to destroy the only world that you have ever known. A future you always believed in. And it doesn't matter whether it's right or wrong. The reasons behind it don't change the fact that I'm hurting you, or lessening your pain. But after all this if you can find it in your heart, if you still want to be friends, I would really like that."
Akito rubbed the tears from her eyes. She looked at Tohru and smiled. "I'll say this much." Tohru looked up at her. "You're persistent." Tohru smiled and hugged Akito tightly.
