After Finnick's departure, the idea finally sunk in for Judy. 'If Finnick is worried about these 'Laws of Nature' so much that he is willing to help then something big is going to happen. But why are they so scary?' She looks at Nick currently snuggling around Judy while she is laying in bed. '*sigh* solve one problem at a time, one step at a time and eventually all will be good'
"You are so sweet and adorable like this ,but I do miss my partner , my Nick" she whispers gently while wrapping her none bandaged arm around Nick and hugged him. Tears start to build up as she calmly and quietly pleads "Come on Nick, snap out of it ,you are not a savage beast, you are a kind , funny and generally great police officer willing to do whatever it takes, so please snap out of it." The longer that sentence was spoken , the louder it was released into the air around them. Tears started rolling down her cheek and the fox ,noticing this, tried to comfort her by rubbing his cheek against hers.
The bunny loses her thoughts just as she hears a knock on the door. "Hello, Ms. Hopps and Mister Wilde , I have brought breakfast. May I come in?"
The response is almost instantaneous "One second ,let me make sure he doesn't attack." As she says this Judy grabs the back of the head of the fox , behind the ears ,and gently brings him closer. She smiles and states casually "Come , just lay and rest for the next couple of minutes , nothing will happen." After a couple seconds, she raises her voice to be heard from beyond the door, "Okay you can come in now, it's safer."
The nurse quietly sneaks into the room ,stealthily opening the door like a kit trying to get his sweets at midnight. As she enters , she places the two trays of food next to the door to avoid contact with the savage beast as much as possible. "Wow, amazing, he truly and deeply respects and loves you."
Judy chokes for a second as a slight blush raises to her ears. "We are not a couple , just work partners."
"Okay... but that is a feral and savage creature finding comfort in you instead of comfort in eating you" The nurse responds , almost instantly realising her mistake in how she said what she said. "I would like to apologise for how that sounded , I didn't mean anything ru-".
"I think you have said enough ,now would you kindly please just go." Judy says trying to not break her smile to avoid the beast unleashing itself onto this poor worker.
"I understand , goodbye." The nurse leaves feeling slightly guilty for her actions. Judy lets go of the russet fox's head rubbing the top of it before moving her arm away. She then reassuringly smiles at him ,suggesting that she is calm and safe. However, unexpected to Judy. Nick wraps himself around her and just lays there.
"*sigh* well played, sly fox." The doe considered trying to get her breakfast but decided against it to let the fox rest thus she followed suit and closed her eyes surrounded by the red fur of her now newly appointed guardian. "My sly fox."
After half an hour , the bunny felt she couldn't just lay there any more and tried to get up , which expectedly caused Nick to get up. They both walked over to their respective trays , Nick ate from the floor his wide variety of food from eggs to crickets to lettuce. His food had a weird shiny gloss to it almost as if it was laced with something but Judy didn't question it. She simply strolled over to her tray , crouched down and picked it up, her meal not as diverse as her partners ,since she is prey and not predator. Her meal consisted of a basic cereal , two carrots on the side ,a few slices of bread ,although seemingly useless and a glass of water. They both ate their food , though admittedly Judy was a bit let down by the food . 'Eh, better deal with the food given right, not like I have a choice in what I get and I am quite famished so well better scoff it all down'. A thought that was much clearer than her feral counterpart.'I wonder what he is thinking in that state, it must be really scary as you have truly no control. It does get worse before it truly gets better , I guess and silver lining , he isn't attacking me.' Her mind goes back to two days prior where she saw the seemingly friendly fox crush the neck of the knife wielding assaulter. She shudders at the thought and quickly tries to discard it. After they both finish their meals , the rabbit attempts to clean up the trays and plates but a rabid fox really has no care for cleanliness when eating. She groans when dealing with the predators wide assortment of now half eaten sloppy seconds but deals with it none the less.
After all of that, Judy decided to check her leg to see if it was still injured. Once inspected , it seemed to be in healthy condition , shame the same couldn't be said about her left shoulder. She looked at her shoulder , which was completely mummified and concealed in the masses of bandages, and then looked down ,seemingly upset that she let an attack like that hit her. She returned to her bed remembering why she hated hospitals and specifically being a patient, it is boring , she could probably find more entertainment watching grass grow ,maybe some flowers would grow as well with the grass , ones that she could maybe even eat. A knocking on the door broke the bunny's train of thought. "Hello?"
"Ah, Ms. Hopps , although this isn't a meeting or check-up for you , you will also need to follow , considering his behaviour, just as a precaution. Don't worry , the corridor is clear and blocked off temporarily to allow for easy transportation."
Judy walks up to the door , where she finds a tiger doctor. "Mmm, I understand the importance ,Doctor?"
"Doctor. James Growly at your service . We pride ourselves on saving and preserving all forms of life just as you all serve and protect. So as you can guess , we aren't trained or taught to deal with highly aggressive individuals , but since you are here we should be safe , right?"
"Err... less likely to die?" Judy responds not really sure what to say.
"Welp , I like my odds." James says trying to ease the situation.
"I don't" Judy mutters under her breathe just so that it isn't heard. She turns around and calls for Nick knowing that he will quickly follow her no matter what. Nick runs over and is about to leap at the tiger with lethal intentions but the bunny quickly steps between them , causing the fox to try and stop until he just trips himself over and rolls to reduce momentum. "Well, back to those odds , you said you liked..."
"After seeing that , I like them even more. It is truly fascinating how quickly he stopped himself just because you were there. I wonder what the limitations are here."
"You really don't understand the dangers ,do you?"
"Oh , I certainly do , but I have trust and faith , also someone needs to direct you to the next room where we can use machinery and operate easier. On that note ,general question are you squeamish?"
"I'd like to say I'm not and what do you mean by 'someone needs to direct you'?
"Isn't it obvious, everyone is scared!" As this was said Nick finally walked up to them an stared daggers into the doctor whilst growling to which Judy responded by rubbing his head , again. This seemed to relax the feral being for the time being. "Well most are scared. Now lets go before he decides to change his mind and act ,ahem, less than docile." Judy nods in agreement and all three start walking to another room. "Before we continue, I wanted to state that we have put the cure within the meal that Mister Wilde was given, you probably noticed the shiny gloss it had all over. But as you can see, it had no affect on him so we are now taking a few tissue samples and a few other tests on top of it, to see how it can be cured or removed from his body and the effects it has on it."
"So what you are saying is , the Nighthowler affects him differently to normal?"
"That's what we are going to test here." The doctor responds , himself unsure what to make of the current situation that is shown in front of him. "But clearly , he has some form of consciousness that is beyond the regular err affected mammal." Judy wanted to respond but truly didn't know how to as this wasn't something that was expected even by her.
They reach the medical office , in which is a few chairs , a bed with restraints on , a few scanning devices (EEG, etc.) and a table filled with syringes (some are filled with something some are empty) and a muzzle. The nurse, which was also present in the room at the time ,seemingly being a deer, picked up the muzzle but Judy quickly recommended against it , considering the lingering trauma from his childhood. "You shouldn't put it on and make him wear it, he has serious trauma with that. He could be more dangerous with it on than without. I'll try ensure he won't bite." The nurse looked at Dr. Growly ,who just nodded, then just relented and stepped away.
"I hope you know what you are doing, because this can really be an unwanted danger." he says while strapping in the restraints, the last one being the neck. Whilst this was happening , Judy walked up to Nick's head and hugged it to comfort him as he was whining and whimpering quietly.
"There , there, it will all be okay." She heard the Nurse bring up a sort of hat with a lot of metal wired circles places in an organised array across the entire hat. The nurse wipes them clean, to ensure accurate results and to prevent spread of unwanted illnesses , even though as an urban living fox thus having a stronger immune system.
The nurse then hands the group of electrodes to the tiger ,who is wearing latex gloves now. "Okay, now to just put this on." , he states matter-of-factly ,while plugging the electrodes on. "Now, lets see what his brain activity looks like." The screen turns on and instantly presents extreme hyper-attentiveness, his brainwaves seem to be at moving at extreme frequencies. "Oh my, that is unexpected."
"What ? What is unexpected?" Judy asked with a bit of distress "Is he in danger or at risk of something fatal? Doctor, you wont let that happen , right?"
"Calm down, its all okay , it's just 61 Hz is extremely high. That must mean that he reacts extremely quickly and intakes information at such a pace that well , I don't know how to describe it just . Hmm, when you feel extremely aware and attentive at a given moment it is above 25 Hertz usually about 32 , he has almost double that so he sends information across his brain at double the speed roughly. That is just wow." The tiger scribbles down some data down ,which may be useful in the future. "Now for the ,hmm , how do I say this, less than painless part. Yeah that's right ,less than painless. Painless without the less, I hope this doesn't get everyone in this room killed."
"Doc, you say that as if I know what you are going to do. Care to enlighten me on the next steps?"
"Yes, yes of course, I need multiple tissue samples but, to get a tissue sample -"
"It needs to be removed from the body." Silence ensues in the medical room for what seems like an eternity but what was in reality 15 seconds. "How do we achieve that?"
"We can start with the easier ones , blood and fur but afterwards muscle and skin can provide some adversity but we can overcome it." The doctor slowly turns to his assistant and looks her in the eye "Right?"
"Sir, you don't think I think this is safe. I'm surprised it was co-operative in its behaviour for so long."
Judy was about to speak but the doctor was quicker and more direct. "What do you mean by it? Do you mean a predator? Do you mean a mammal beyond your own species ? Do you mean a thing that cant be able to feel any love or empathy or any other feeling but an overbearing sense of apathy?" James stared intensely at the now scared deer ,trying to form a cohesive thought before saying anything. The doctor now calms down "Enlighten me please , I want to understand what you mean." Judy just sat in shock that such a what seemed to be peaceful and joking mammal could just lash out like that. "I'm pretty sure the bunny here wants to know what you mean. And that was no is her natural predator and yet she shows more understanding and compassion."
"I'm sorry , it's just the stress of the situation , I didn't mean it like that."
"But that doesn't answer his question." Judy chimed in noticing she tried to avoid the question although not as well as a politician would. "What did you mean?" she stated calmly to not scare her more. After that question, the room fell silent again except the restlessness of the drug fuelled beast that laid in the middle.
"*sigh* I've been brought up with ideologies that were quite against predators, it just ... I'm sorry."
"So was I and yet here I am rising above that, we aren't defined by what we are taught but by our actions and our actions and definition can bring upon change ."
"She is right and what I wanted to say was that , within this profession your personal views are irrelevant as it could be the difference between someone living and dying. What I see is a poor mammal confused and scared, suffering because some lunatic decided to use chemicals and drugs against him. A mammal stripped of his freedom and rights and practically forced to live within a cell unless we do something. I gave you the choice to not come here, I will give it again: Are you sure , now be honest, that you want to proceed with this medical examination ,considering the circumstances?"
The nurse looks between the two other mammals in the room and feels threatened then looks at the fox ,trying to break out and being pestered by the straps on his limbs. As she sees this, she realises what the other two meant and feels guilt build up within her. She finally decides , looks into the eyes of the tiger and answers firmly "Yes."
"Then , we shall proceed and help him, right?"
"Yes"
Dr. Growly picks up a syringe filled with a painkiller and numbing agent and injects it. As this happens , Nick barked and tried to bite at the medical professional but the neck strap prevented it.
Judy rushed to stop the situation escalating, "It's all okay ,I'm here. I won't let them hurt you and they want to make you better. It's all fine , just look at me." Judy stroked her partner along the cheek and chin and smiled.
"Oh , feisty one, how lovely is that strap? Any poorer conditions and well , I wouldn't be laughing this off. But here I am! " James laughed the imminent threat away.
"Sir , how can you laugh at such a close call with death? That isn't a joke."
"Better to laugh than to cry and besides ,we aren't done" Dr. Growly smiles reassuringly ,turns back to the table and picks up an empty syringe. He turns to the deer that is meant to assist him and asks "Do you remember where a vein is in the arm of the fox and if you are feeling brave enough , do you think you can point at it."
"Don't worry , he seems docile now" Judy states attempting to reassure the nurse.
"It's fine , I can do it." She walks up to the fox and marks the location with her finger delicately.
"Splendid job, such information is extremely important especially when dealing with patients who's fur actively hinder us. If you continue like that , you may yet become a full on surgeon." his tone quickly turns to a playful one "Maybe not as good as me but it is difficult to improve upon perfection." The deer simply shakes her head and walks back to clean the recently discarded syringe. As this happens , James ,as delicately as a feather, places the syringe on the now numb arm and slowly stabs the end point and slides it in. He pulls the plunger but finds a bit of resistance. "Why is it so viscous?" he mutters under his breathe but the radar dishes on top of the lagomorph manage to pick up on it.
"Viscous, what does that mean?"
"Hmm, oh , it simply means thick , a glue-like consistency. I forgot you can hear more minute sounds." He put the full syringe down and turned back holding a scalpel. "Do you think you can distract him and comfort him while I , to put it bluntly, cut a small piece of him out."
Judy stares ,letting the information sink in. "I think, I can." She turns the fox's head and continues with the actions that worked so far.
"He shouldn't feel this but who knows? Heh" He marks a location with a marker then slowly breathes , trying to steel his nerves. He picks up his scalpel and starts to cut out the square . After 30 seconds of silence, the doctor finally removed the square patch of skin and the fur on top of it. He then places the cut out on a small sterile plate then picked up a small cylindrical knife to collect a small layer of muscle tissue from the same area as the cut-out . "After the effects of the numbing agent wears off he may be a bit agitated by the pain it causes, but it won't be too serious. Nothing to worry about."
"Understood, so can he leave now?" Judy questions seeing the agitated fox becoming more and more restless.
"Yes ,it should be fine now but , I do need to send a warning that a Nighthowler patient is being moved. And the reason we brought you here is because , have you ever tried setting something important up when something with seemingly boundless energy is just around?"
"Yeah, I understand almost 300 siblings after all ,some are younger than others."
A siren blares in the corridor, warning that a Nighthowler patient , specifically Nick, is being transported.
After two minutes, the corridors were cleared and the white of the corridor was never as intriguing as they were now. In the absence of anyone , the difference in the clean parts of the wall and the dirty greyer parts appear to be popping out. They traverse down the corridor along side James back to their room. "Doctor, how do you manage to keep so calm when almost killed? Sorry if it is a personal question but I'm just curious."
"The answer is really straight-forward. I was a field medic before. Some small conflict I don't remember any more so it's just second nature to me to act like this." James responds nonchalantly
"Oh , wow , that's-"
The doctor turns and cuts off Judy , "Unimportant. The past is the past and I didn't do it for honour so I don't need sympathy . Let's just not talk about it." Judy nods in compliance.
After two minutes of walking, (Nick slightly limping) they finally reach their room. "I will analyse what I have collected and return to provide any important news ,good or otherwise."
"Understood"
"Now, what he needs is rest. Do you think you can get him to sleep or at least stop moving about and just lay down." Judy just nods her head and follows the fox in. "I'll try come back tomorrow, Officers."
Once inside the room , Judy called out to Nick and laid on the edge of his bed. "Come on Nick, I know you want to lay down here." Nick jumped onto the bed and curled up , almost as if he understood what she is saying. Judy started quietly humming lullabies . After 20 minutes of this , the canid finally fell asleep, gaining the rest his body rightly deserved and required. Once Judy realised this, she got up to stretch her legs. She mumbled under her breath "So now what , I can't use my phone because it will wake him up. I can't leave because if I do , he will just break out again and find me . Don't even know when he did it the first time, I was sleeping very well that night thanks to the racc..." She gulped , after reminding herself of that day. It wasn't pleasant for most but especially not for a small prey mammal . It was shocking that , she didn't have any lingering traumatic disorders from that fateful day. She settled on exercising quietly : sit-ups , squats, etc. Nothing much arm based due to the still existing stab wound but her legs were perfectly fine and so was her core.
After an hour of this silent exercise, she heard footsteps from outside and instantly stood up. She looked through the window that was placed next to the door to observe the oncoming travellers. To her shock and surprise (she actually nearly gasped but held it in), it was the deer nurse from before and the current chief of ZPD precinct 1 , Bogo. Just as the nurse was about to knock she noticed the rabbit holding her finger to her mouth ,silently shushing. The nurse then motioned to the bunny to come outside for a bit. Chief looked through the window at first the bunny then the fox. When looking at the fox ,he sighed , knowing that it could be a bit problematic with him back at the ZPD. Safe to say, he wasn't a fan of the fox's antics, honestly he didn't know what Hopps saw in him but he is willing to give Wilde a chance as he had the same mindset with the aforementioned bunny, who proceeded to solve one of the hardest cases with admittedly a questionable methodology but her determination was there and none could deny it.
Judy stepped outside , "He's sleeping and knowing him he will wake up soon so we don't have too long, sir."
"Don't worry , I think I can handle him."
"Maybe before the accident you could sir, where his speciality was weapons. But now, where he is willing to claw ,scratch and gnaw all that oppose him , I wouldn't be too sure." She looks back at the giant cape buffalo ,who was now frowning. "Not to say you don't stand a chance sir, no, no , what I mean is the fight could.. go either way?"
"I know what you mean Hopps." He looks at the fox "Glad to see someone is still representing us but where is his belt?"
The nurse chimes in , knowing perfectly well where it is, "Oh it is in the storage area, where we keep patients belongings to ensure they are safe. This can include clothing , bags but also smaller things such as jewellery or badges. I know I mentioned clothing and to answer your question, he is still wearing his uniform because no-one wanted to change him and he seemed quite serene in that outfit."
"Mmm, I see, what about Hopps, what is her condition?"
The deer unlocks her tablet and scrolls through the patient information "She currently should only have what would seem like a light scratch on her shoulder but that would be because of her fur , it is a moderately sized knife wound which shouldn't take too long to heal. She is technically ready to go home now if you do not include the requirements of other patients."
"So I'm staying as long as Nick is staying?" The deer simply nodded , not feeling the need to say anything.
"Thank you ma'am but if it is OK , I would like to speak to Hopps alone ."
"Of course, that is not a problem sir. Once you are finished please head straight to the elevator where I shall be waiting." She walks off.
Once the deer left their line of sight Chief Bogo started questioning the doe. "So what happened at that alleyway?"
"Sir , I am not capable of writing a report now especially if I have to keep him in check."
"No that won't be necessary , a verbal recount is good enough, your case has been reassigned, and they could use all the help they can get. They are entering this case completely blind and you of all officers knows how difficult that can be."
"Of course sir. Will this be recorded?"
"Yes , I will start when you are ready."
"Then before we begin , I want to state I only know half the story and the other half -"
"The only living witness is Wilde."
"What do you mean only? What about Doug?"
"No-one told you? I'm not surprised , Doug was found at the scene with a .308 within his skull ,which has entered through the back and the neck."Judy was shocked, she didn't know the drug making sheep was actually murdered . She only thought he was unconscious and that's why he wasn't moving but she never really looked at the dead sheep properly . "That reaction shows ,there was no possibility anyone who was currently present at the scene , alive or dead, was responsible and no-one went to the scene either."
"It could've been a sniper, sir"
"Possibly, but there are many questions that that would create such as how comes you didn't hear the bullet travel?"
"Start the recording, sir , I am ready to state what has happened."
"Fair enough" The chief pulls out a pocket voice recorder and starts it "Chief Bogo questioning Officer Judy Hopps on the topic of the alleyway murders ,assaults and drugging of Officer Nicholas Wilde. Hopps , what did you see happen?"
"At first , it was Wilde who had suspicions during the ticketing of the street racer. He walked over to the alleyway where I assume a fight has occurred . During this time , I was still dealing with the assigned task. After a few minutes , I heard Wilde requesting my help or at least half of the sentence. My initial reaction was to call backup then assist myself so I trusted my instincts and proceeded to do just that. When I reached the alleyway, I saw a now fallen and handcuffed Wilde and Doug fleeing from the area. I automatically reached for my tranquilliser and fired a dart at him. After that , I proceeded to check the condition of my partner , Officer Wilde. Here a second mammal jumped out and attacked. This mammal was the raccoon , he was well trained but seemingly overconfident , leaving himself open to many basic attacks which wouldn't normally be very effective. During the fight, I may have injured the mammal in question a bit but he has stabbed my shoulder and injured my knee. The fight ended when I was dropped to the ground and too exhausted to continue. Seeing this, the raccoon raised his knife , most likely to stab me to end my life." Judy started breathing deeper at this point to calm down, she would never like reminiscing about the next few moments that she was about to explain.
"It's okay Hopps, it's fine if you need to take your time."
Judy started breathing shakily and starts sobbing. "Just as he was... about to stab me... Nick broke his restraint and... knocked down the aggressor." She taken another deep breath . "Nick then stood on the raccoon and almost instantly bitten the throat of the raccoon."
"Any other details before we finish the questioning, Officer?"
"No , not really , I fell unconscious soon after this."
"When do you believe Doug was killed?"
"I do not know, I never heard a bullet fly past. However, I have a suspicion it was timed with the bite where my panic would overwhelm my senses."
"Thank you that is all the information I will ask for , for now, considering your emotional state right now."Bogo turns off the recorder.
"Any other information you want to tell me or questions you want to ask me, sir?"
"Always straight to the point. That's what I like about you, Hopps. Yes, Wolfard found this insignia in the pockets of the raccoon." Bogo presents a photo of an 11-pronged silver star with a skull on it to Judy.
Judy shakes her head "No sorry , I don't recognise it." 'But I know who might , need to remember to ask Finnick about it later.'
"Okay that is all , I wanted to thank you for your time and it was good to see you again , Hopps, and good to see Wilde but don't tell him that."
"It'll be our little secret, Chief."
Bogo turns his head up to where Nick was lying. "Where did he go?"
Judy looks over as well. "Ugh, he is up already. When he was him still he slept so long , now he barely sleeps a few hours if I'm lucky. Sorry sir but I will have to go back in or he might start breaking out."She walks in the room. "*sigh* so you're up already ,huh?" She hears Bogo walk away then start a phone call. She doesn't hear the conversation because he is too far away now but she knows would have probably called whoever took their case. 'I forgot to ask who took our case. Damn it. Mental note to ask later.'
Nick lifted his head and stared at the door, someone or multiple mammals were coming. "Ugh , I was expecting them to come." She turned to Nick seeing him starting to get aggressive and be ready to pounce on the oncoming "invaders". She jumped across the room ,realising that all hell could break loose in a second. From the corridor , shouting was heard .
"That's our daughter. Let us see her."
"Sir , Ma'am, I have to warn you and tell you to calm down, there i-"
"Calm down?! Calm Down?! Wha-"
"Stu , maybe we should hear her out?"
"Thank you , as I was saying ." Judy instantly saw the writing on the wall and knew this will be tragic. She whispered "uh oh". The deer collected her thoughts and finished her sentence. "There is a mammal that is under the influence of the drug known as 'Nighthowler'"
Both of the older rabbits scream "WHAT?!"
The nurse tried to quieten them down but it was to no avail; they quickly ran past the nurse and almost busted into the room in a blind fury and panic. Fortunately for them , Judy sat in front of the door ,causing Nick to instinctively do the same, and together they blocked the door. "Mum, Dad, we heard everything. You should apologise to the nice nurse."
"But Judy, Jude th-"
"I didn't hear an apology."
Both the elder bunnies turn to the deer and apologise for their actions.
"Hehe, oh its fine, I understand panic and all and you wanting to protect your daughter."
"Yeah, we just really wanted to see our daughter to make sure she was alright, can you please open the door now?"
"Mum, Dad, I'm sorry but I can't open this door."
"You can and will young lady!"
"Mum, the kind nurse told you that I'm with someone here and they aren't as docile as me , let's just say."
"Is it to do with the mammal poisoned with Nighthowler?"
"Yeah, I want to talk to you guys face to face but he wouldn't make it easy."
"Why are you even with them?"
"First off, they are my partner in the ZPD so we trust each other. But secondly and more importantly because, when we first arrived, we were both unconscious , he woke up sooner than me and started looking for me . When he couldn't find me he started searching for me then sniffing and tracking me. He quickly found that my presence was elsewhere, he quickly broke out of his room by breaking the door down. I don't know how but rumour has it, they are still looking for a good replacement. Next , he just walked casually ,or as casually as a 'savage beast' can, to my room
as he already tracked me down. When he broke into my room , the assumption was he was going to eat me , I know you would think that as well but he just curled up around me and went back to sleep."
"So the mammal you are with is your ZPD partner , that Nick you were talking about."
"Yeah, he is so sweet like this but I really wouldn't recommend coming in here. He doesn't like others touching me."
"But , Bun-bun, how did this happen?"
"Sorry mum, I can't discuss an ongoing investigation, I know you understand that."
"Yes honey. Just remember , if you need help any help , as long as we can, we will provide it."
"Thanks mum, I know you will, just I don't know if you and dad will like my requests if push comes to shove."
"Honey can we at least see you through the window?"
"Yes mum, you can, I will let you but promise not to freak out, both of you."
Stuart and Bonnie stare at each other and nod. "We promise sweetie ."
Judy walks over to the window , her personal bodyguard close behind. "Taa-daa"
"Judy ,is that Nick? He's... He's a a-aa a fox!"
"Yes dad I know, Nick is a fox, he is also the only one that believed that I could be a cop. He put a lot of faith and belief in someone he knew for a couple days at best."
"Oh , honey we believed in you as well."
"You had a funny way of showing it. Be honest now, you were worried about me the entire time , weren't you, both of you?" They nodded their heads in agreement. "Didn't I tell you not to worry, especially since I have the best partner I could ask for."
"Well, if you're happy ,we are happy, right Stu? Stu?"
Stu was currently sitting on the floor rocking back and forth while whispering to himself "Fox, partner with Fox, in room with savage Fox but its fine because she says it's fine."
"He agrees with me and if he doesn't then I'll make sure he does."
"Thanks mum, I know I can always count on you." Judy looks at her father "Maybe you guys should go now before he reaches a critical state, although where better than in a hospital."
"Judy , you shouldn't say such things."
"Sorry mum."
"Come on Stu we are leaving now."
"Yes dear" He stands up , leaving the trance like state from before, then turns to Judy "Now remember to be safe."
"Yes dad , of course I will."
"That's all I ask of you."
"Okay, if that's it bye guys it was nice to see you both again."
"Bye sweetie." "Bye Judy"
The nurse, which oddly enough just stood there and fiddled with her notepad, escorted them back to the main reception.
After the fiasco with her parents ,she pulled out her phone and texted Finnick.
"Hey Finn, I was told about a 11-pronged silver star . What do you know about it?"
"Bny cop, does it look like this but with one extra point?"
"Yes, why and how do you have one?"
"It's their logo, and that's my business, where did you see it?"
"A picture shown by the Chief. Said it was on the raccoon. What does it represent?"
"Shows rank, the more points the higher the rank. Was he identified because I may know who he is but it is just an idea?"
"No"
"I'll make sure first then I'll tell you, one slip up and we are all in the pits."
"Good luck bny cop , we will all need it."
"Thx ,you too"
Judy pocketed her phone and looked at the fox beside her and muttered "What is going on in the city now?"
A/N: The police duo deserve a little rest before the next chapters happen but otherwise I think a few slower chapters must happen for the story to progress . I can already tell Judy is going to have to really worry about her currently four-legged companion, well only time will tell.
OH before I forget again , Americans reading this, if spelling seems off , it might be because it is UK English spelling so just FYI.
Also reviews , I only have one but I will respond to it:
Ghostw... wait really no, Ghostwolf88 well , first off big fan of what you wrote generally, I'm so happy you read my work. Secondly , the disjointed part well, that is a massive issue I have generally , I try to fix it but it's still here to this day not as bad anymore but yeah. Thirdly , the time restraint is only for the first few to release consistently and to not be lazy afterwards I will release however it goes. Finally , I'm glad you enjoy my first work. Thanks for reviewing.
