*Beep , Beep , Beep* The alarm was going off in 'Judy's' room, telling her it was time to wake up. "5.30 , ughh, the things I do to myself." She moved her paw to turn that accursed alarm off and be able to think straight. The room went silent, too silent. Then , Judy felt something brush her leg. She looked under the duvet and saw the fox still sleeping peacefully there. "You sly fox." She tried to get up without disturbing the fox and succeeded mostly. She put on her slippers and started walking away quietly until she heard heavy sniffing from the bed. "Uh oh" The fox stood up , whining, then he looked around to find his rabbit. His eyes locked onto her and she jumped over to her. "Niiiiiick, you sleep well?" The fox nodded. "Good. We need to get ready for today. What were we doing today again?" She walked over to her phone and was instantly bombarded by multiple news agencies that all had a headline somewhere along the lines of "Former Mayor found innocent and leading press interview." She just sighed remembering all of a sudden what was going to happen today. "Yay." she said feigning enthusiasm as well as she could, while still clearly being in a mocking tone. "Nick, how do you feel on protecting a different mammal today, you know except me?" The fox tilted his head in confusion and looked at Judy with slightly squinted eyes. "You'll see, besides if you're coming with me you have no choice." She sighed again, "Lets just get some breakfast now." She prepared some blueberry waffles for the consumption of both mammals. She made two stacks , one larger than the other, for the respectively sized mammal. The two ate their portions and the fox was definitely satisfied with his meal.

Then she went through her usual routine of dressing herself and her fox , then brushing her teeth. While brushing her teeth, she thought about Nick, 'I hope he doesn't need to brush his teeth.' She finished off brushing her teeth, brushing extra well today. "At least today, I won't be speaking in front of the cameras." She shuddered as she thought about the other incident with the press. She strapped on her kevlar vest and proceeded to the door. "Time to go Come on Nick, lets go." Nick ran over on all fours and followed closely behind.

The two entered the precinct earlier than usual and Judy spoke with Benjamin. "Hey, Clawhauser, what's going on?"

"Well, I heard that Lionheart is trying to plan a party for the press as a fundraiser but today is quite dry otherwise."

"Thanks, Clawhauser."

"So, Hopps, what's up with you and him?"

"Not much, he is still just quite savage but he is starting to understand what I say fluently. He also listens to commands better."

"Really? Let me try." He then looks at Nick. "Sit." Nick stares at the cheetah. "Sit." Nick starts to lower his head and bare his teeth. "Sit?"

"Nick, stop that and sit." Nick looks at the rabbit then looks at the floor in shame. Then he sat down. "Probably just humiliating to him."

"Maybe. You could just go to the Bullpen now and settle in." Judy nodded and started to walk towards it. "See you Judy."

"Bye Benjamin." Nick followed Judy soon after .

Judy approached the door and pushed it wide open. In there was one lone officer waiting. "Pawson, what are you doing here?"

"Me? I couldn't sleep so I tried to find something else out about our mystery sniper. Also I submitted my request to carry lethals and the submission of my lethal for acceptance." Judy facepalmed. "You forgot didn't you."

"Yeah, I did."

"That's why I brought a spare document for you to sign and you can still make it if you go now to collect your weapon to submit." Judy quickly signed the document for her eligibility and then ran out of the bullpen. "Try and hurry. Don't want to do parking duty." Judy rolled her eyes.

"Nick, we need to get home quick." Nick instantly understood and lowered his body. Judy jumped on and Nick then blasted off like a rocket, dashing to the front door. The door opened just fast enough to not be destroyed by the speeding red and blue bullet known as Nick Wilde. "Just as quick as normal. Lets go." Nick started to speed up and rushed home as fast as he could. It was still early in the morning so the streets were barren. This helped the fox speed up even more. The speed he was travelling at now was faster than usual. "How fast can you go? Holy cabbages and lettuce." The fox smiled and started to slow down as they reached their destination. "Am I still in one piece? Oh thankfully yes." She ran upstairs and opened the door. She pulled out the closed black box and ran back downstairs. They still had plenty of time to spare. "Time to run." She jumped back on the fox and held on tightly, putting the box under her stomach. She rode the fox as fast as she could, and he arrived at the station as quick as she left. She got off the fox and ran inside with the locked box.

"You as well? Do you two have a dangerous mission or something?"

"We have a lead but it leads somewhere extremely dangerous so we are enacting caution and also someone is currently wanting Nick dead."

"Oh no, why would anyone want him dead? I don't understand."

"I don't understand why anyone would kill apart from self-defence. Even then, it shouldn't happen."

Ben didn't respond and Nick stared at the cheetah. Judy just then ran to Bogo's office. At the door waited Pawson for Judy with her signed documents. "You'll need these."

"Thank you." She walked in to the office. Bogo waited in front off his desk. "Chief , I would like to apply for the eligibility to possess a lethal firearm and would like to apply for use of my own firearm."

"Is this for the attack you want to have permitted."

"Yes sir."

"You will be accepted and to make sure you will survive,I will pull a few strings to let you possess a firearm already. Take this and take your weapon downstairs. The mammals there will sign this off." Judy nodded and left the office. She ran to the basement records room.

A Jaguar stood there at the door expecting her."So Bogo signed you off as well? Show me the gun." She opened the box with the key she possessed. "Same one? Yeah, you can wear it now. Bogo is too lenient in my opinion but who cares about that." Judy removed the holster and equipped it. She placed the sidearm in the holster and strapped it in. "And now you are ready. By the way, here's this, it's the warrant you asked for. I would've given it to Pawson but he told me to give it to you."

Judy taken the document and gave it back. "Not today, keep it safe, we are protection detail for Lionheart."

"Of course, that self absorbed hollow shell of a mammal. He can be manipulated so easily but he also represents all the bad stuff that happened recently. Mixed bag. Anyway, not my place to discuss politics. Goodbye Officer Hopps."

"Bye, sir." Judy waved as she walked away. Judy turned to face the direction she was heading in.

"Name's Nathan, would love if you used it.." The jaguar said. "Anyways til next we meet."

Judy waved goodbye as Nathan saluted back with one finger. Pawson came up, "So we both have guns, this will be fun." Judy shook her head in disbelief. "What, you know I would be like this. I'm just really excited to be doing this. This will be exciting."

Then Nathan came running up. "Forgot to mention this but with both of you now having live weaponry, you will both be eligible to be sent to stop armed criminals."

Judy responded, "We already were, this was for safety."

Nathan shrugged, "Just following protocol." Pawson checked his watch and pointed towards the bullpen. Hopps understood what was meant by that and the two started walking back upstairs.

The pushed the door open and Nick ran through the opening first. Judy giggled at the behaviour. Then the other two walked through and walked to their seat. Nick sat at the bottom of the seat again and the active duo sat on the seat . "We are just on time. Bogo is here."

Then Bogo entered the room through the door as he normally did. Everyone slammed the tables as they usually did. This once again irritated the fox. But this time Nick was less relaxed, he started growling as he was affected by the loud noise that was created. This was the first time the cacophony of sound was silenced by something other than Bogo. Everyone started slowing down and started looking at the fox. He was positioned in an aggressive stance and growled more before relaxing as the room went silent. "Thank you." Bogo said afterwards. He then put on his reading glasses. "As you all know, today Mr. Lionheart is making multiple press conferences and will need protection due to extremists that could attack him. Pawson, Wolford, Fangmeyer , Pennington, McHorn, Higgins, Grizzoli, Hopps and by extension Wilde , you will be protecting Lionheart. All day, no questions. You all are to go and prepare now. The rest of you stay and we will discuss further your tasks of the day." The mentioned officers stood up and left quickly. They all ran downstairs with a strong sense of urgency. They all entered their cruisers and started driving to the first location. The only exception was Higgins, who was sent to pick the Lion up and drive him to the location.

"So, do you think he was innocent or guilty?"

Judy responded instantly without hesitation. "Guilty, he was kitnapping and experimenting on mammals. And before you ask, we saw it first hand." She pointed at herself and Nick. "I think it is shameful that he did that but I do understand his concerns that he had." She shook her head. "Still, I think he should've given the poor mammals to an actual hospital."

"I guess that answers my questions , thanks for that. Fursonally, I didn't know if he was innocent or guilty. But I wasn't too interested in that information." Pawson smiled. "Does your opinion matter in what is about to happen?"

"Jacob, I don't mind Lionheart as a mammal, and I believe he deserves a second chance, it's just it was a powerful memory." Judy groaned. "He does deserve a second chance, everyone does." She looked behind herself for a second and looked at the fox before turning back to the road. "I mean look at Nick, he was a con artist before this and now he is a police officer. If he wasn't given a second chance, would he be there in that situation or would he be stuck doing the same thing day in day out."

"Yeah, you're right, we should just let him try to fix himself. No matter what forget the past. Let him try again."

"Exactly, lets do that." They kept driving for a while until they reached the place where many journalists and reporters already sat and waited. "Is it that big of news that Lionheart is here? I mean I know he did what he did and all but seriously?" Pawson just shrugged. They got out of their cruisers.

Higgins then called through his radio "Wolford, McHorn you two are to check the surrounding buildings. Hopps , Pawson. You two will be next to Lionheart. Me Pennington Fangmeyer and Grizzoli will be by the crowd to prevent entrance. Expect other officers from other precincts as well."

"Yes sir." All officers responded. Then Judy spoke up, "What about off duty officer Wilde? He can't be seen there due to the negative connotations that it could ensue."

"Agreed, Can Wilde remain in the cruiser while this happens?"

"Yes sir, but I will need to check on him at regular intervals."

"Then Pawson, you will need to pick up the slack for those moments."

Pawson grabs his radio and responds. "Yes sir, you can count on me."

"We may need to." Higgins stopped speaking then. All officers headed towards their appointed positions.

"Sorry Nick, you need to stay here." Nick whined a bit. "It's not my choice." Nick leaned upon the door of the cruiser and continued whining. "Nick, please stop, it's already hard for me." Nick then stopped and sat down. "I'll be back soon for you , don't worry", she whispered, knowing the fox would hear. The fox barked in response.

"what did you tell him?"

"The truth." Judy responded and then walked to where Higgins would park with Lionheart. After a few minutes their cruiser appeared . "Now or never." they walked over to the cruiser and opened the door for the former mayor. "Hello sir, we will be your fursonal protection detail."

"Of course, she is to protect me."Lionheart muttered then looked at them. "I am extremely grateful for what you are doing." Then Higgins walked up to them.

"Lieutenant Higgins." The two saluted.

"Take Mr. Lionheart to the stand. We are on a strict time frame. I shall head to the crowds edge. Head to the back area and enter the stand that way."

"Yes sir." The two mammals responded. Judy turned to Lionheart."This way please."

"Lead the way." The lion smirked. He was glad to see the bunny that led to her arrest need to listen to him. The three walked around and reached the stand with no issues. Then Judy walked to the far side of the stand as Pawson stood at the close side. Lionheart walked over to the stand and started to speak. "Good Morning, my fellow citizens of Zootopia. I would like to lead this speech to try and show that I have changed and am not the same mammal as the one that has been arrested last year." He paused thinking what he should say next. "I understand the error of my ways and assure you that I shall not repeat my actions. I cannot truly show how deeply I regret what I did and I would only wish to be able to show that I have changed and I am a different mammal. I know you do not believe me but let my actions speak louder than words. Watch what I will be doing and know I am not running for mayor for the time being." He paused again. "I would also want to say that I do not deserve your forgiveness however I would like to show that I have tried to earn it." Then a bullet flew through the air and splattered the lion's head.

Pawson dropped to the ground and Judy sprinted over to Lionheart's body while shouting into her radio, "Shots fired, Lionheart down. Bullet came from the incomplete building. Has anyone checked that building?"

"No, I was just about to." Wolford stated. "We will start searching the building carefully."

"Me and Pawson will be there ETA 4 minutes."

"Understood, we will search first."

Judy ran over to Jacob and picked him up."We need to get going." The raccoon nodded as he was standing up and sprinted to the cruiser.

A few minutes earlier back in the cruiser.

Nick laid down waiting. Waiting for his doe to return. Waiting for something to happen. Then he smelled something or someone. He moved towards it and started barking aggressively to try and make the mammal leave. The mammal walked up to the cruiser that Nick was in and then started to tamper with something underneath. Nick started hitting at the floor where he thought the mammal was. Then he heard two more mammals running towards him. He started barking louder and louder. Then he heard the mammal underneath sprint away, to avoid being seen. Nick started charging into the door. As he was about to hit it, he smelled a familiar scent and then the door opened up. There she was, his bunny. He jumped out of the car and licked the rabbit's cheek. "Nick, not now, we need to get to that tower. Can you get me there?" The fox nodded and let the rabbit climb on. " Pawson, drive." Jacob nodded and jumped in. The cruiser started as Nick started to sprint through small alleys and tried to get to the destination that was recommended. After 2 minutes, Judy arrived and quickly ran into where she thought they were. There she saw Officer Wolford waiting. "So, what do we know?"

"Not much, I'm about to go in but first I wanted to make sure you knew what was about to happen, just in case." He then noticed the gun in her belt. "You may be better suited to deal with the situation than I am." He then nodded towards the gun.

"I hope it won't lead to that." Judy shuddered at the thought of using the gun. "Enough mammals died already."

"I agree with that statement. Hell, you nearly died a few weeks ago." Judy looked down a bit at the memory. "Sorry for bringing that up."

"No, it's fine, it mostly hurts because of this." She points at the fox that stood beside her. She then looked up and had a second wind. "You go through the front, I'll go through the back." Just then Pawson arrived and jumped out of the cruiser while Wolford ran inside.. "You're with me, we're going round the back." Pawson nodded and followed closely behind. Judy ran and the two mammals that were following her ,were sticking to the rabbit. She looked at them for a second then smiled, knowing she always had help. The three were heading towards the back before Judy froze as she heard a noise. Then Pawson heard it.

"Hello, citizens of Zootopia, what you have witnessed was but a fraction of our potential. We do not take no for an answer. What we demand will not be stated here but the mayor has already been notified. If these demands are not met, then we shall continue, we will not halt or stop or falter for a storm is brewing and you cannot stop a storm. It is a Law of Nature." Then there was a short pause. Judy then run to the back of the building while Jacob waited for the rest. "If we need to speak out again, you will suffer more, you will regret disobeying us. Don't try to stop us, you can't, it is a fool's errand." Pawson clenched his fist, feeling a bit annoyed at what he just heard. 'How can someone be so arrogant. We will stop you.' Pawson promised himself.

Judy opened the door ,gripping her pistol, and carefully manoeuvred between rooms, checking to see if anyone was there. She meandered around , making sure she was covering as many rooms as possible. "It's clear? " She turned to her remaining companion. "Nick can you smell any mammal?" Nick started sniffing and then followed a trail until they reached an office , where Nick stopped. Someone was in there. "Nick, wait here, it could be dangerous." Nick was then confused. His body was built to deal with dangerous. "Please, you will help me by being here more than going in there." Nick relented and sat down. Judy opened the door slowly and quietly. She entered the office. Her heart was racing faster than usual. She pulled her gun out and swept the room. After a few minutes of silence, she walked further and found something. It was a badge. A ZPD badge. Wolford's ZPD badge with blood smeared on it. "Oh no. Wolford." She mumbled then she checked the rest of the room, where she found the officer. He down , laying on the floor unconscious. Blood covered his uniform and he was bleeding out fast. Judy grabbed his tie and tied it around his arm to create a pseudo-tourniquet to stop the bleeding. She then grabbed her radio. "We need a doctor, Officer down. I repeat Officer Wolford is down."

Clawhauser responded "Understood, sending an ambulance now."

"Judy." She heard from behind her somewhere. She started sprinting towards the voice . She ran and the fox still waited as per her instruction. She reached outside and saw the raccoon look out in the distance."Hopps, vehicle." She ran over after a few seconds but the vehicle was too far to recognise.

"Plate number?" Pawson shrugged. "Sweet cheese and crackers. There will be panic in the streets and we don't know who did what." She groaned. "And our biggest lead just ran away from us." She then turned around, "Where's Nick?"

"I thought he was with you."

"He was but now he isn't." She started to panic. Then she called out. "NIICK." The fox came running at high speeds and stopped in front of the rabbit. She calmed down a bit seeing him. "Okay, that's good. Good good." She looked around and saw the other four officers that were from precinct 1 finally come over. She approached Higgins' cruiser. "Sorry sir, we're sure the perpetrator has fled the scene." Pawson remained silent. "Also, Officer Wolford is currently unconscious in one of the offices."

"What about McHorn?"

"No word from him."

"Lets clear the perimeter , no-one in or out. We don't want more complications."

Then Judy's phone buzzed. She was about to check it but couldn't do that on duty. She waited until the ambulance arrived and when it did she led the first responders to the unconscious body of Wolford. "He'll be okay, thanks to the tourniquet. You did good."

"Just doing my job." The responder nodded. They then put the body on a stretcher and carried him outside. She saw the body be loaded into the ambulance and felt a tinge of pity for the poor wolf. He was just trying to help and gets beaten half to death for it. What has this world come to. The ambulance drove away. The larger mammals all surrounded the building and McHorn finally showed up.

"McHorn, where were you?"

"Searching the building sir. I was hoping to find the criminals before they escape. There was no fortune in that sir."

"Guard the front entrance for now. We will deal with you later." McHorn saluted then walked away groaning. Higgins walked up to the two smaller mammals. "Since you two are smaller, I think you two should search the building, maybe you'll find something else. But don't take unnecessary risks."

The two saluted. "Yes sir." Judy and Jacob both walked in. Nick followed shortly behind. "Jake, check the security footage, maybe we'll see them come up or down."

"On it." Jacob started to run off to the security room. Judy saw this and was pleased to have a temporary partner that is just as enthusiastic as she was. She knew she already checked the entire bottom floor so she checked the office one more time where Wolford was and picked up his badge.

"I hope you will be fine." She whispered into the badge. Nick walked up and stared at it. He was confused at why she so staring at it. He looked at the rabbit and saw tears forming in her eyes. He rubbed the top oh his head on the rabbits cheek. "Nick, not now." She was trying her best not to laugh right now. "Nick, that tickles stop." She finally gave in and started to giggle. Then the fox stopped tickling her. "Thank you." she stated while trying to stop laughing to catch her breath. She finally checked her phone.

"What do you know about McHorn?" 'That's weird. Why would he ask about McHorn?'

"What about McHorn? He's a fellow officer hard working a bit grumpy but also overconfident. Not as bad as you but still." She sent.

"He's a Law, he went up to the shooting location 1 minute before the shot was taken. You can check security footage. You never received this message, only checked to see who taken the shot."

"We were already checking, seems the shooters were quite evasive no visual on cams any hints there?"

"No, none what so ever, I just saw McHorn. Check his pockets. He should have the symbol or badge."

"Thanks for the tip." She was surprised. This was serious information and could answer the question of who attacked Wolford. She ran towards the security office to see if Pawson had anything. She avoided the radio because she knew that McHorn would've heard. She breached into the room shoulder charging the door open. "Jake, got anything. If yes , it may be the nail in the coffin for some information I received."

"Is it about this?" He pointed at the screen. On the screen was the officer they thought was a friend. "So what do we do?"

"Gather the evidence and bring him in." She sighed She pulled her radio out. "Lieutenant, you will want to see this. We will be at the the central reception."

"Copy that, coming in." They three walked into the atrium where they agreed to meet. There they saw each other. "What's so important that you had to call me?"

"Radios off." All nodded and switched their radios off. "McHorn is a mole. He works with the ones that killed Lionheart. He was also seen beating out Officer Wolford." Higgins sighed then the four headed to the security office. "The evidence is right there." Higgins watched through the damning piece of information.

"It's right there, can't disprove it."

"Sir, I want to search the office one more time with Nick, permission to do so."

"Granted, we will apprehend the traitorous rhino."

Judy and Nick both headed back to the office. "Nick can you smell or see anything that was missed before, something that could help pin down who did this?" Nick sniffed multiple times and shook his head. There was nothing. How could there be nothing? No, this wasn't right, there had to be

something. "Hmm, there is something we are missing." She walked about the room for many minutes and eventual paced for an hour. Nick just watched her with confusion. She then decided to give up on this room and remembered "The vehicle that was used to escape. Had be seen on some camera." She ran towards the security office again and watched the camera that watched that alleyway. Then she saw that recognisable van. "No, he didn't. I can't believe I trusted him. Of course he wouldn't know anything about him because he doesn't want to be caught." She started to shout. "I swear, when I catch that fox , he will wish he was never even conceived." Nick stepped back a bit, since he heard fox and knew he was one. He was taking no chances against this enraged bunny. "Finnick, I will find you and you will explain yourself." Then Nick raised his head. He smelled something, but wasn't sure what. He recognised the smell, but it was from a while ago, when he smelled it like this. Then the door swung open and before Judy could respond , she was hit by a tranquilliser dart in her back. She collapsed to the floor as she saw Nick running at the rhino then getting hit by two darts. She mumbled lightly. "Nooo, you won't get away with this." McHorn picked up the rabbit and the fox.

"I know I won't get away with this but you need to be removed from the picture so we can win, then I'll turn myself in." Judy tried to be disgusted by the mammal that was holding her but she passed out from the chemicals in her system. "Lets see how long you last." Then he saw her phone and taken it. It opened to the conversation between her and a user she named 'Grumpy' but who could this be. He didn't read the messages. He then dropped the phone on to the floor and carried the two away. He hid the two in a closet for his help to take them. He darted Nick one more time since he knew how quick he could wake up. McHorn then left the building and knew he was going down so he decided to go down with a fight. He ran over to Grizzoli and grabbed his throat. Higgins , Fangmeyer and Pawson all saw this.

"No, Grizz." Fangmeyer called out. She was clearly upset by this action. "You'll be okay. I promise." Grizzoli nodded and smiled.

Then Higgins started talking. "McHorn let him go, we don't want to have anymore problems. Please just turn yourself in."

"I'm already caught so I may as well." Grizzoli felt the rhino's hooves starting to move. He groaned then smiled reassuringly to his partner. Then the rhino pulled his hooves in opposite directions and snapped the bears neck.

"No, Grizz, you piece of shit." The Pawson shot his leg to stop the rhino from escaping. Fangmeyer then rushed the rhino, the tiger jumped towards McHorn and uppercut him. The rhino dropped to the floor unconscious.

"Check his pockets." Pawson called out and the tiger did so. She found the 9-pronged badge in his pocket. "So he is working for them. Wait he just came out of the building, right?" Pawson ran inside and searched the building. He saw nothing in the office and then ran to the security room and only found Judy's phone. He taken his radio. "She's missing."
