"So Outback Island?" The vixen questioned.
"Yeah, only been once."
"Damn, it's right there already, I've never been there." The vixen looked unsure. "I don't know how to feel about this. Is it a good thing or a bad thing?"
"It is whatever you make it. If you want it to be good, it will be good." Finnick stared at the island as he said that. "Hell, we can make it even a vacation." Finnick returned to his car and started messing with the navigation. "Hey, do you remember where we are staying?" The vixen shook her head from outside. "That makes everything harder." He pulled out his phone. "Vic, you better not say that we need to deal with it on our own." He calls the wolf that is technically in charge. It rings 2 times then it's picked up. "Hey, Fenrir. Where are we staying? I forgot that detail , I think."
"You didn't, I never told you where you're staying."'Oh no' "You will have to find some place on your own."
"Fuck. I-I mean, yes sir. We'll find some place to sleep." He groaned and disconnected the line. "We need to work something out quick when we get there." He slammed his head on the steering wheel ,narrowly avoiding the horn. He then raised it and slammed his head again. He repeated this action 4 more times. He only stopped because Ellie hopped in the car.
"So what's the plan? Because I know we're not sleeping in this car."
"No, I'll find some place, and we will rest there. Then we will discuss something for tomorrow."
"Sounds like a plan."
"5 minutes and we disembark." Ellie nodded to that. Finnick turned the car on and moved a bit forward to get closer to the exit. His impatience was starting to show. "Be careful, we don't know anyone here and there is no safehouse. So we will be constantly in danger." Ellie nodded while pulling out a Kriss Vector from under her seat. Finnick then reached under his seat and found a FN Pig90. "Wanna swap?"
"Yeah, prefer that more." They exchange guns and Finnick held the Vector and loaded it. "They're both loaded surprisingly."She then smiled when looking at the fennec next to her. "Don't you think it's funny a fennec is using a fennec?"
"Hmm?"
"Oh nothing."
Finnick shook his head, not knowing what she said. Then the small car ferry stopped. "Time to go." The ramp slowly lowered to let the car off. Finnick slowly drove off and wanted to avoid anything that would make him a clear target and known in the entire place. However, his wishes were quickly ignored when two cars pulled out of a nearby warehouse and started shooting at the fox duo. "Fuck sake, can we not have anything in this place just go easy, it's about one in the morning." Finnick changed gear and sped up. "Hopefully the roads are empty." He drove through some of the roads and then saw a turn for the motorway. "Think you can try to shoot them when I speed up." Ellie nodded then preped her Pig90. She leaned out of the window and started firing it into the cars that were attacking them.
"Shit, I missed. Reloading." Finnick nodded. "Need a clearer shot."
"I'll pull a hard turn soon, think that will be good enough for you."
"It will have to work." Ellie stated while reloading her Pig90. As it cocked, she stated, "Ready when you are. Time to pop their heads or at least tires." Finnick nodded then sharply turned right, giving Ellie a clear sight to one of the cars. She fired three controlled bursts as Finnick started moving forward. "I hit someone, but I don't think it was a lethal shot." More bullets whizzed past them. "Gotta deal with them some how." She started thinking , then remembered the sniper she left in the backseat. "Think you can steady the car?"
Finnick caught on really quickly. "That is a fucking crazy idea. You sure you wanna do that?" Ellie looked at the fennec. "Fine, I can steady it for a few seconds but know that we will be easy targets during that time." Ellie smiled.
"Do it when I say so." She unbuckled her seatbelt. Then she crawled in between the front seats to get to the back seats . When she was at the back seats, she taken the cover of her sniper and reassembled it. "Where's the scope?"
"'Popper', you left it in the other case , you know the one in the boot." Ellie groaned. She loaded her Ballistapir then pointed it towards the back.
"Okay, steady the car now." Finnick steadied the car and stop turning left and right. 'Popper' took the shot and the bullet travelled through the air. The bullet flew and crashed into the windscreen of the left car . When it did that it continued travelling and crashed through the drivers skull, causing the car to swerve out of control and land in the shrubbery next to the road. Then Finnick stepped on the brakes to make the car be behind his pursuers. Ellie grabbed the seats to stop her from flying out of the car's front. Finnick then grabbed his Vector and leaned out of the window. "That is a fast firing gun, you sure you can one hand it?" Finnick grunted then pulled the trigger. The bullets sprayed around into the tires and the shooter.
"Driver is still alive but the others are down." Finnick sped up getting closer to the car then going beside it. He pulled out his macowrov and shot the driver in the head, just as he reached the point of seeing the driver. "So much for discreet." He pulls his phone out, then taps on a number. He then chucks the phone behind him. "Call Fenrir. Tell him we are already known."
"Yeah, I'll do just that." She calls Fenrir. "Hey, Fenrir, mind explaining why they knew that we were going to be here? We were fucking shot at from the second we got of the transport boat. How the fuck does something like that happen?" She then put the phone on speaker to let Finnick hear the explanation.
"Fuck, they must have spies or moles or something. I'll forward this to Raccson see what he says."
"No, you are in charge of us, this is your mission so you are accountable for this fucking bullshit. Besides, what the fuck is Storm gonna do? He is a spineless bitch that is only where he is because of his dad and that mind of his. He will deny any form of knowledge about this. So once again what are you going to do about this?"
"I'll send co-ordinates to someone who can fix and repaint your car. For now, that is all I can do. No-one will know about this except us three. Keep it that way, and with the mission, if you must, kill the courier. That last part you didn't hear from me."
"Understood sir."
"I'll try and unfuck this situation but right now, you two are the best we have so you two will need to make do with the current situation." Fenrir sighed on the other side of the phone. "If this is the couriers doing, we may have a tough time trying to convince him. If you must, use monetary bribes or blackmail. Any method is acceptable for this job."
"Yes sir." Finnick said from the back. "This gives me an idea."
"Good but don't say it in case we are tracked or this call is monitored. I'll be going now, I have other business to attend to." The line disconnected and the phone went black.
"Well, basically we are on our own."
"Just another day in the office." Finnick groaned. "So did he send it?" Just then his phone buzzed and a message shown up. "Co-ordinates, lets go there."
"I really just want some sleep. We need to find a place to rest soon." Finnick nodded. He then checked his phone for those co-ordinates.
"Seems there is a motel quite close to that location. We could go there for the night. I'll drop you off then give this car in." Ellie nodded with a slight grunt. She was clearly tired and wasn't in the mood for conversation right now. "You have my number , right? Text me the door number." Ellie nodded again then she reloaded all the guns that were used in the fight except the macowrov as Finnick kept it on him. She just wanted something to occupy her for the moment.
Finnick drove carefully around trying to avoid any popular areas and then reached the motel. He parked the car quite distantly. "I'll be back soon." Ellie nodded once again and stepped out of the car. Finnick drove away and heard his phone buzz again. "Who is this?"
The message was from an unknown number but it read 'Judy is missing, need help finding her and fox. Help?' What did it mean missing?
'Explain yourself, who are you? Why do you have number?'
'burner phone Judy's partner she left phone'
'How is she missing?'
'Well, she went missing after traitor was caught. Neva seen them. Mc spoke bout them tho, something about deepest pit in hell or something like that.'
'Don't know much about it but, they may not make it. We can only hope. I can't help right now and might be back too late.' "Fuck fuck fuck, why does she have to be taken there of all places." He then sent another message, "Remember big wolf? Go to him bout this." He drove and parked the car at the place. He then walked inside. "Need repairs and a repaint, can you do that?"
The koala at the front looked at the car that was completely shot up. "Wow... err... yeah, we can fix that. What colour would ya want, mate?" Finnick just pointed at a tin of black paint. "Good enough, by eye that would be about 250 zoollars." Finnick pulled out his wallet and placed that required cash down. "Well, now that business is done, lets work on the car." The two walked towards the car and drove into the garage. "Should be good as new for next week, hope that won't be an issue."
"It shouldn't be." The fennec responded, glad to see that there won't be any issues. "But the insides are off limits."
"Of course boss, we won't need any a' that bullshit. It's all yours and we won't question any o' it." He looks at the bullet holes. "Given a warm welcomin' ,weren't we?" He chuckled. "It's in good paws mate, don't worry." The koala smiled.
Finnick walked up to the boot and pulled out a suitcase. He stared at the koala as if to say 'Ask what is in the case, I dare you' while taking it. "Just fix it. I'll be back in a week as you said."
"'Course mate. See ya then."
Finnick walked away holding his case. Then a wounded Tasmanian Devil walked past. His eye was bleeding profusely and his arm was limp but still somehow functioned. He was completely covered in blood and struggled to breathe with the crimson liquid that flowed out of his mouth. He coughed , spreading some blood in front of him. He looked at the fennec in front of him. "You ain't from here , are ya?" Finnick groaned. "Actually , I think I recognise ya. You're the fucker that killed my driver and caused the car ta crash." As he said that, he threw a kick at the small fox. The devil then pulled out a pistol to shoot the fox but hesitated when a sharp pain shot through his hand. "Lucky bastard." He lowered his arm. He stared at the fennec for a few more seconds, struggling to raise his gun, until he collapsed from blood loss.
Finnick ran over to the body and checked for a pulse. When he planted his paw on the devil's chest , he felt an extremely faint and the devil was starting to choke on all the blood building up in his mouth. The fox rolled the poor mammal over to let the blood spill out then called an ambulance for the unconscious individual. That was when he remembered he had so much contraband on him that he had to flee. As he was about to leave , he tripped over the devil's pistol. "If that is found he will be imprisoned as well. He could be useful though." Finnick decided to take the gun and flee.
He returned to the motel he saw before and then found the room that Ellie picked. He was about to knock on the door until he heard , "It's open, come in." He walked in and Ellie instantly saw him. "So who's blood is that?"
"Some tasmanian devil. He was actually the one survivor from our welcoming committee. He should survive and we could question him soon. Maybe get some good info."
"Good idea, but I think right now, we need sleep." Ellie walked into the light to be seen by the fennec despite the fact that he could see her in the dark. There, she stood in a white top with pink sleeves. In the middle of the shirt , it said 'Sleep is for the weak' with the 'a' crossed out and replaced by a red e on top of it and an addition piece of embroidered work which added a suffix to what was now 'week' by saying 'end'. Her trousers were also white with the sides flowing with pink. Finnick looked at the attire Ellie was wearing, with a raised eyebrow. "What? I can't have a pyjama now? It's more comfortable like this." Finnick shrugged and put the case he lugged around on the desk. "Is that the important stuff?"
"Dossier, contract, my gun." He listed off.
"Why is your gun in there? You know what I don't want to know. I'm tired and I'll be in bed." She opened the door to the bedroom and walked through. Before closing the door, she winked suggestively and shut it. Finnick rolled his eyes and started to set up all the information on the small table they had. It was eventually covered by images ,documents and other pieces of information that was important.
Finnick tried to use this to logistically work out where the courier was holed up. After about five minutes of trying to shuffle things about, he found nothing and his left arm was starting to hurt and go limp. As this happened , he decided to go to the bathroom and use the mirror there to see what was wrong. What he noticed when he took off his blazer was that the damn thing had a chunk pulled off. When he looked at his arm, he saw the same thing. "Damn, they clipped me in the car." Since he was already there , he showered, removing all the dirt that could've accumulated from today's adventures. As he finished, he cleaned his wound with some hydrogen peroxide that he found in the bathroom medicine cabinet. "How fortunate." There was a slight stinging sensation located at the wound but the fox didn't even wince at it. He just stared directly into his own eyes as it poured onto his arm. Then he grabbed some bandages and wrapped it around his arm. "There, good as new." He moved his arm around to see how it felt. "Yep, definitely shot. Fucking adrenaline high." Surprisingly, the pain never came, well, to a severe level. He then brushed his teeth, slightly carelessly as he was quite tired at this point.
When he finished preparing for bed, he returned to the table and looked over everything again. "He's a dealer, who gives anything and everything for a price. Mammals, guns, exotic plants. So by that , it would stand to reason, he is located somewhere, where there is little interference." He then circled multiple locations on a map of Outback Island. The locations consisted of the docks , an abandoned mine, some of the countryside areas, the desert and a large manor. Nothing could be ruled out in Finnick's mind. "Come on, there has to be something here. Something that fits the puzzle." He looked around looking for something. Anything.
Eventually he just gave up and went to the bed that was 'recommended' to him.
A/N: So a shorter part since it didn't feel like it fit the previous part or the next part but was still necessary. Fills in the gaps for what Finnick was doing, while Pawson was doing his thing.
Yeah, I really tried to write something more but there honestly wasn't too much going on here.
Yeah, so next will be Pawson, pulling a Jason Derulo and going solo.
Oh and I thought I should say it here: Finnick didn't notice the wound because a) he didn't feel it due to the adrenaline coursing in his body and B) The blood covered the hole later on so he didn't suspect anything there. C) they didn't smell any blood because they were preoccupied by something then Finnick later came back covered in Tasmanian Devil blood so no suspicions. I hope that explains some issues you may have with that, if you did.
So, that should be it from me. I hope you all have a good week, and see ya next time , ya bloody legends.
