Bell's eyes twinge before they were opened. He stared at the white ceiling and found himself tucked up in bed. He noticed that he was shirtless and covered in bandages.
He sensed the pain from his body had disappeared and got up to looked outside the window and saw he was in a forest. Bell became curious of the building he was in put a white shirt and exited the room. He was walking through the hallway and going to the next room.
Bell found himself in a large room of portraits about people he never saw before. These portraits seemed to depict adventurers as they are shown fighting against monsters and brandishing loots as trophies. He guessed that he must be in a Manor of a banished wealthy Familia.
The rabbit didn't remember how he got here or who brought him here, but all he ever remembered was dying in the field and heard the voice of his late grandfather. But the curiosity of this place had eclipsed the questions in his mind. Bell then saw portrait of a black armored man with brown hair, scars over his gray eyes and slicing the body a massive hellish monster with a greatsword.
Next to that portrait is another depicting a silver haired woman with heterochromia with the right being green and the other was gray. She was wearing gothic themed dress and is shown firing a powerful spell against a massive aquatic monster.
Bell guessed that these two are extremely powerful individuals and could be on the same level as Ottar. But he has strange feeling about the portrait of the woman. Before he could move on, something caught his eye on the portrait.
His eyes landed on a small logo at the lower part of the frame. Bell recognized that Logo from Orario.
"That's the Sigil of Hera Familia." He whispered and looked the portrait of the warrior and saw another symbol he recognized.
"The Sigil of Zeus Familia?"
He realized that he is in new home of Zeus and Hera. Maybe they were recruiting and training new members. Which means one of them came across to him and brought him here. But still he couldn't help but at his surroundings in awe.
His eyes landed on another pair of portraits. Bell immediately understood that these two pictures are the Legendary Zeus and Hera Familias. The ones who slayed the Leviathan and the Behemoth.
"Perhaps those are the same monsters I saw which were being slain by those two." Bell said to himself.
"Indeed they are." A female voice spoke.
Bell turned around saw a Goddess who gave him a longing small smile as if they had been separated for so long.
"You must be Goddess Hera?" He asked.
Instead of answering to his question, to his surprise the Goddess gave him a hug. Bell didn't know what to do and how to respond to this.
"You have no idea how long I waited for to be my arms Bell." He heard her say.
He was surprised that the Goddess who once led the most powerful Familias on face of the Earth know of his name. "Um am I suppose to know you?"
Hera sighed in irritation. "That perverted bastard didn't even mention me to you has he?"
'Perverted bastard?' Bell thought.
"Come on Hera, can we just do the name calling later." Bell heard a very familiar
The Goddess released him from their hug. Bell faced to his grandfather, the person who said to have died in the mountains.
"G-grandpa?" Bell was shocked to see that he was alive and asked him. "Are you Zeus?"
"Yeah, I'm sorry I didn't tell you," His grandfather spread his arms preparing for a hug. "I know I have a lot of explaining to do too."
Bell had a look of disbelief and began to cry as he approach him slowly. Hera smiled as she could only watch the touching moment that was about to happen. But to her surprise, Bell suddenly kicked the God right in the crotch.
Zeus fell down to the floor writhing in pain as he clutched his testicles. Hera couldn't help but chuckle at Zeus' well-deserved punishment. Bell looked on him and began pouring down on with words of emotion.
"YOUR ZEUS!?" He exclaimed. "THE LEADER OF THE SECOND MOST POWERFUL FAMILIA IN THE WORLD AND YOU DIDN'T EVEN TELL ME WHEN I WAS GROWING UP! YOU JUST DITCHED ME AT THE VILLAGE BY PRETENDING TO BE DEAD! SO WHAT!? YOU CAN RUN AROUND THE WORLD ADOPTING YOUNG BOYS AND TEACHING PEEKING IS A PART OF MAN'S ROMANCE JUST LIKE WHAT YOU DID TO ME IN THE PAST!?"
"WHAT?!" Hera screamed in disbelief. "YOU ARE TRYING TO CORRUPT OUR GRANDSON INTO A PERVERT!?"
"Oh dear." Zeus slumped to the floor and feared this might happen.
Bell and Hera berated the Gods for all of his decisions and how he was hiding through the years. Zeus had to endure and thought going to heaven and it would lead to be berated by Alfia and other like minded women and men. Both of them calmed down and Bell turned to Hera.
"So your my adopted grandmother," Bell turned to Hera. "Considering that Zeus is my adopted grandfather?"
Hera glared at Zeus which gave him the message 'We're not finished' and shuddered. Then turned to Bell.
"Your mother was a member of my Familia," Hera answered as her tone was gentle and adoration about his mother and switched to a tone of disgust and irritation. "Your father was a cowardly man from Zeus' familia and honestly I refused to believe that he had the balls to face the Dragon along our other children."
"He died along with the rest of our children alright," Zeus retorted as he got up and still reeling from the kick. "We just underestimated the Dragon's power."
"I guess we all did." Hera sighed.
"Hold on." Bell interrupted.
The two Gods looked at their grandson who has hard a time to process the information.
"Hera- I mean Grandma," Bell refrained. "Said that my parents are members of your famalias?"
"It's true," Zeus answered. "They are not as strong as the rest of our children."
"But they are our one of favorites," Hera added. "Also they are family."
"Well I didn't expect that," Bell said. "So who are they exactly."
"Let's go somewhere else to talk to discuss." Hera smiled.
Traveler's Inn (The day after the incident)
Hermes was sitting in his office drinking his wine in frustration for what happened yesterday. It was bad enough that his ties between him and Bell has soured but now this entire fiasco showed up. The more Hermes think about it the angrier he became.
Hermes finished his wine and threw the glass across the room as it shattered against the wall.
"These stupid citizen!" He cursed "That stupid Hestia! Those stupid Adventurers! and this entire stupid city!"
Asfi entered the room and noticed the shards of glass on the floor. She glanced at Hermes who is slumped on his chair rubbing his forehead.
"You seemed to be in a bad mood."
The God growled. "Of course I am, Orario was going to make Bell the last Hero! Not beating him up and forcing him to leave the city! Now this world is doomed!"
"Well shame on them," Asfi disapproved on the rash actions against Bell. "But, we have guests."
Hermes clicked his tongue. "Sorry Asfi, I am not in the mood with guest."
He was about to drink the entire bottle to get himself drunk. But Asfi continued.
"It's Miach, Naaza, Cassandra, Daphne, Ais and... Loki."
Hermes paused at the name Loki as he was about to drink the wine. He had a hunch that they would come to their Headquarters for answers regarding about Bell. But he didn't expect Loki to come here as well.
He wasn't sure if Ais had told her what happened yesterday. But he did know after Bell made his confession to her. A tear flow through her eye and never spoke a word to any of them including the other members of her Familia.
Suddenly, the group including Loki entered the room. Hermes sat his bottle down on the table and kept his eyes in Loki who merely crossed her arms. Cassandra and Daphne were saddened that they didn't get to say goodbye to Bell and hoped that he survived his injuries.
"I told you to wait." Asfi scolded them.
"We've gone impatient," Loki simply replied. "What we would like to know is what's your connection with Bell Cranel?"
"Surprised for being questioned by you," Hermes glared at her. "Considering what the rest of your kids had done."
Loki scoffed "Oh please, my children acted out without my permission, I was about to order them to capture him for interrogation at the Guild. But alas, they left before I gave the order and what did I heard? They beat him up and drove him out of the city."
"And why should we believe you?"
"Because I'm the trickster," Loki reminded him. "I know trickery when I see one. Besides, this has Evilus written all over it and if it were me, I would've done the same thing if he did somthin' with my Ais."
She leaned over to Ais for support. But the girl moved away and letting her Goddess fall. The others just stared at her as she got up and pouted at the blonde.
"Ais!"
The confession from Bell before his departure had left a massive hole deep in her heart, through out the night and looking into the stars. She finally came to understand that she loved him as well. She wanted leave Orario to look for him just to tell him that she loved him too. But, Ais has a leash around her neck and she needed to clear her rabbit's name first.
Cassandra had given her a spare rabbit foot to remember him and to motivate her. She even tied to the pummel of her sword. When Bete tried to take it from her, Ais had beaten him up so bad that he had to be put into the infirmary in an unconscious state. After that happened, she went into her room ignoring Riveria and Finn's calls.
To her surprise, Loki was in her room waiting for her. She was inspecting long boring lecture from her. But instead, she said that something was off and knew that Bell wasn't a traitor and also adding the fact that she didn't order them to hunt and kill him.
Ais wasn't sure if this a good idea. But, she can no longer trust anyone in the Familia. So she begrudgingly trusted Loki to help her clear Bell's name.
"So what about you?" Asfi asked the Miach Familia. "How did you know that Bell Cranel wasn't a traitor?"
"Cassandra," Miach turned to the blue haired girl who shook head in shame as if it was her fault. "Before we heard the news, she looked as she had saw something terrible which made her panic and ran off. The rest of us managed catch up to her and that's when we heard the news so we split up to look for him."
"It's my fault." Cassandra spoke up.
Daphne comforted her. "Cassandra, it's impossible for it to be your fault."
"It is," She said in a guilty tone. " The reason why I ran because the vision I saw was about a mob being told by a shadowy figure stuff a rabbit in sack beating like a piƱata with only few who were begging them to stop. Suddenly, a cloaked woman appeared out of no where and terrified the mob with very presence and made her way to sack. But as soon as she touched the sack, lightning had struck them and the next thing I saw is they were gone."
Everyone but Daphne stared in shock at Cassandra. She continued as few tears flowing from her eyes.
"That's why I left to warn him to leave the city," Cassandra shook head. "So that his suffering could have been avoided."
They all kept quiet, Miach Familia began to think about Cassandra's dreams. Loki looked at her with interest and said.
"So your visions," She spoke and turned to Miach. "Are they apart of her skill? Cause even if I not a Goddess, I can surely tell in her tone she's not faking it."
"I'm not sure Loki," He admitted. "The name of the skill is called "Five Dimension Troia" and although name can be interpreted. But I can't seem to decoded or understand what the skill can do."
"I guess we can all agree that maybe Cassandra can see visions from the future or something like that." Naaza said.
Ais placed a hand on Cassandra's shoulder. "I'm sure you tried your best to help him."
"Thanks you Sword Princess." Cassandra felt at ease.
"Call me Ais," She said and turned to Hermes. "Which leads to our next question."
The rest including Asfi looked at the blonde haired God who still sitting on his chair. Loki spoke up.
"You never answered my question?"
Hermes was silently thinking for a minute and he took breath and said.
"Do you know about the Zeus and Hera Familias?" He asked
"Yes," Naaza answered. "They slayed the Behemoth and the Leviathan."
"And failed to kill the Black Dragon," Daphne recalled. "Which got most of them get killed instead."
"Don't forget the part about... you know Predator and Silence." Cassandra brought up.
Those who witnessed that the dark age still remembered the horrors that took place. Those who who have not seen and experienced it could understand what it felt like. Especially when two members of Zeus and Hera Familia would join forces with Evilius to attack Orario.
"But what does this have to do with him?" Loki asked as she placed her hands on her hips.
"Because Bell Cranel is the last son of the two powerful Familias which makes him their grandson." Hermes responded.
Just like that everyone in the room were stunned at the information. Miach Familia felt that her jaws drop to the floor. Asfi had lost her composure and readjusted her glasses as they almost fell to the floor. Loki and Ais were deeply shocked at Bell's heritage.
The trickster was the first to recover and was in deep thought.
'That explains the abnormal growth,' Loki thought. 'But still sucks for the boobed brained midget to waste such for a gifted child. Heh, shame if he were in my Familia I would surely enjoy rubbing it into everyone's faces and it would be even sweeter when give I finally give that Arrogant slimey bitch a taste of her own medicine for having her grandson in my Familia! And yet, they're still around to live to keep their title as the strongest... through him.'
Came in second was Ais, who began to see that they were similarity between her rabbit and herself. She also heard that both Familias are monsters dressed as human beings.
'So Bell is their Grandson?' Ais thought deeply. 'I always wanted learn more about him and understand his fast growth. But to think that Bell is the latest on the line of those "monsters". I think we need start all over again. But, maybe we can defeat the Black Dragon together.'
"Does Bell who he is?" Ais asked "Did Zeus and Hera raised him?"
"No, only Zeus raised," Hermes answered. "I'm not sure if Hera know of his existence. All I know is she is chasing Zeus and it's only a matter of time before she catches him."
'Sucks for Zeus.' The rest of the gods thought.
"After both Familias were defeated and wiped out, save for Zald and Aflia. A member from Hera Familia named Meteria had gave birth him when Jacob of Zeus Familia had impregnated her."
Everyone was surprised at the detail.
"This "Meteria" who is she exactly?" Ais was eager learn more Bell's mother including the rest of them.
"She wasn't strong compared to the Empress and the Familia," Hermes said earning surprised looks from the group. "But she kind, pure, and a warm presence. Everyone loved her for it, Hera herself considered her to be her favorite child."
"So she was weak?" Loki clarified. "What kept her from becoming strong?"
"Because she and her older twin sister had incurable illness which they got from the moment they were born." Hermes revealed.
All of them were shocked that Bell's mother and aunt would have such a sickness. They began to fear for Bell's life, if he ever inherited one. A memory from seven years ago had sparked within her brain.
"She would have surpassed level 7, if it weren't for her incurable sickness.' Riveria said.
"Meteria's sister," Ais said as everyone looked at her. "She wouldn't happen to be Alfia of Hera Familia?"
Everyone was surprised at her guess. They turned to Hermes who was impressed and slowly clapped to Ais.
"She is indeed," He applauded to Ais. "That would make him a nephew to Alfia."
This shocked everyone as no one would ever thought about Bell would be a nephew of the Incarnation of Talent. But perhaps his quick growth is a "talent" of his own.
"Alfia the Silence?" Daphne questioned. "Isn't she the one who slayed the Leviathan?"
"And killed innocent people along with Zard and Evilus." Loki crossed her arms.
Hermes firmly reminded her. "They did what they had to in order for Orario and its adventurers to prepare for the Black Dragon. Believe me, I too, didn't expect that Alfia and Zard would show up and wrecked havoc across Orario."
"But, if they hadn't met Erebus," Hermes theorized. "They have would came to him as a family and even training before coming to Orario."
Guilt swelled within Ais and Loki. To them, they could see that they had indirectly wronged Bell by taking away what his life could have been in Orario.
'Ah jeez,' Loki thought ' Looks like I ruined his life too. But from the day he was born.'
'I hope he won't hate me for being apart of the ones who banished his family,' Ais thought sadly. 'Maybe I should apologize to him.'
"Imagine what Aflia would do if she was still alive and found out what Orario did to her nephew." Hermes shuddered in fear at the possibility.
Everyone shared the same shudder to as well. The thought of having a vengeful level 7 sorceress wreaking havoc and inflict devastating damage beyond all measures compared to what she did during the Dark age. She would probably care less if her sickness kills her and be satisfied that she made them pay for what they did to Bell.
"And what of his father?" Miach asked.
"Ah yes," Hermes stroked his chin. "As I have said before he was from Zeus Familia."
All of them were expecting that Hermes would say that Bell's father is a Level 6 or 7 adventurer. But, instead he said.
"His name was Jacob," Hermes revealed. "He was a Level 4 supporter and the weakest of his familia."
This caught them off guard and were surprised about the detail of being the weakest.
"How did someone so weak earned a seat at Zeus' table?" Loki asked.
"From what Zeus told me," Hermes recalled. "Jacob was an orphan who lost his family to monsters. Zeus found him took pity and gave him a place to in his familia and shortly after that he met Meteria and fell in love with her."
Ais and the group felt sorry for his lost as Hermes sighed and continued.
"A pity though," Hermes sighed. "His relationship with Meteria and the birth of his son would have helped him grow a backbone and truly be a man."
"But he never got the chance," Miach said. "Because of the dragon."
Hermes nodded.
'We really are much alike,' Ais thought. ''Difference is that he never got the chance ever meet or learn about his parents. Thats pretty sad.'
With the topic about Bell's parents and linage out of the way. They began about how they are going to clear Bell's name. Apparently searching the culprit is like searching a needle in haystack and would take time so they would have to move cautiously to avoid suspicion.
Since Bell's reputation had dropped after the Xeno incident. Earning hate from many people, it is most likely that Evilius used it to their advantage and sent someone with a special magic item to make him look like a traitor.
Ais asked her goddess. "Loki, I need to go somewhere."
Loki looked surprised. "Why?"
"I wanna pay someone a visit." She answered.
Loki immediately understood her intentions. "Okay fine, but don't start any trouble unless they are asking for it."
Ais nodded and exited the room. The group noticed this and Loki responded to this saying that Ais paying someone a visit. The Sword Princess exited the manor and on her way to her destination is she could here people discussing about of the supposed traitor.
Hearing how they bad mouthed about Bell made her angry and resisted the urge to bash their heads on the ground. Her anger was felt through her eyes by other people, causing them to avoid her which make it easy to go desired destination.
Ais was at the entrance of the Adventurer's Graveyard and walked past the tombstones of late adventurers who fought and died in the dungeon. The girl had stood infront of the monument of Zeus and Hera Familias.
The two Familias that had been strongest ones for ever 1,000 years and had been called Monster Familias. Ais felt their glare knowing what the city had down to their legacy. She was overcome with sadness and guilt.
The sadness for Bell's loss and being a part of a faction that denied him of the life that could have been. The guilt not being able to keep safe from harm.
"I'm sorry," Ais said. "For what this city had done to him and that banishing your patrons Gods was the payment you received when you failed the quest. Perhaps, this city deserves punishment from Aflia and Zard back in the Dark age. But I want to thank you all, for all your hard work and I also want to thank Meteria and Jacob for bringing Bell into this world. If hadn't met him, I would never experience the happiness he showed me. I'm truly sorry that I couldn't protect him from from my Familia. At first, I wanted to avenge my Father and take my mother back. Now I realized that I am missing out the most important values of life. Where ever he is, I hope just he is recovering. But I understand that I can't beat the Dragon alone. Maybe when Bell returns, I will look after him and when the time comes to face the Dragon. We will finish what you and my parents started that is my promise."
