Chapter 5 Meeting the Jester
Lumine's POV
Childe led me through the outskirts of a town in Snezhnaya, until we eventually arrived at lone cabin.
"This is where the Jester wants to meet you", he revealed.
"He wants to meet us here", Paimon asked. "Paimon thought we were going to that palace we've heard about."
"Only those who have sworn their loyalty to her majesty the Tsaritsa may enter the Zapolyarny Palace", Childe revealed. "Because of that, this cabin is where the Jester holds meetings with anyone who is not a part of the Fatui."
"A lone cabin in the middle of nowhere", Paimon pointed out. "Great."
"Thank you for bringing me here, Childe", I said. "Um…would you be okay with waiting outside?"
"You want me to wait outside", Childe asked. "Why?"
"I want to speak with the Jester alone", I replied. "Is that okay?"
Childe seemed upset that I was keeping stuff from him, but he didn't push any further.
"If that's what you want", he replied. "But, are you sure you'll be okay talking to the Jester all by yourself?"
"I'll be fine", I reassured. "After all I've been through, I should be able to handle the Jester."
After I said this, Childe smirked at me.
"Confident, aren't you Girlie", he asked. "You're right. You're more than capable of handling yourself. But I'll be right outside in case you need me, Comrade."
"Thank you, Childe", I said, before looking at Paimon. "You ready, Paimon?"
"Honestly", Paimon started. "Paimon's kinda nervous to meet this guy. I mean, he's the head honcho Fatui Harbinger!"
"You can wait out here with Childe if you want to", I suggested.
"No way", Paimon exclaimed. "There's no way Paimon is letting you see that guy by yourself! I'll go in with you, and if the Jester tries anything funny, I'll fly right out and get Mr Moneybags to help out!"
"Thank you, Paimon", I said. "Okay. Let's go."
With that, I walked up to the front door of the cabin. When I got there, I turned around to look at Childe, who gave me a reassuring smile.
I smiled back at him. Then, after taking a deep breath, I walked into the cabin.
"Greetings, traveler", I heard someone say. "Or would you be okay with me calling you Lumine?"
Upon hearing this, I looked in front of me. When I did…I was met with a man…and I could tell straight away that he was from Khaenri'ah.
From his clothes, to his half covered face. And the biggest giveaway was his eyes, which were that of a pure blood Khaenri'ahn.
Seeing him made me a bit nervous, but I hid those nerves and stood up straight.
"Greetings, Jester", I said. "Did my brother tell you my name?"
When I asked this, the Jester looked at me in shock.
"What did you say", he asked.
"I know that you used to be a royal mage of Khaenri'ah", I revealed. "I also know that you lived with my brother for some time."
"Where did you learn this", the Jester asked.
"That doesn't matter", I replied, before taking a seat by the table the Jester was sitting at. "What matters is that you have information on my brother."
After I said this, the Jester smiled wickedly at me.
"Indeed I do", he said. "However, I am not simply going to give you this information."
"What do I need to do for you to tell me what I want to know", I asked.
The Jester's answer took me by surprise.
"I want you…to join the Fatui Harbingers."
