Meeting the Lone Girl
Red Hat yawned. He hadn't been able to get that much sleep last night. This time around, his dreams were questionable to say the least. His dream this time around was meeting some girls. Some looked even younger than expected. He couldn't tell if this was some kind of bad omen. He couldn't get any detail of said girls in his dream. All he got was a shadow on what they may look like. He also wondered what caused him to even have such a dream? He never dreamt of girls! Let alone ones he has never even met before, or is going to meet.
Although he also wondered about that girl Lara he met yesterday. He had no idea why, but he felt inclined to find and meet her again. It wasn't obligation or anything. Rather, he felt genuine concern for her. He didn't know why, but something felt really off, that he couldn't quite put his finger on.
There was still another issue that he couldn't quite solve just yet. What did he see back there when he left that abandoned home? He thought he was imagining things when it disappeared from his sights. He's heard stories of duel monster spirits in some archives, but he didn't believe they were true. If said spirits did exist, then what was their purpose, he wondered.
Stretching as he finally removed himself from his bed, he made his way to the bathroom and readied himself for another long day. For all the time he spent priding himself on being an adventurous duelist and going pro. He never really bothered with most tournaments beyond locals and any so-called pro league matches were always in the minor league. He had no sponsor, and he didn't have to request matches. Although, he would still have to duel regularly if he wants to stay. Otherwise, he'll be kicked out and will be tedious to join again, since he'd be labeled a failure. He could always take part time jobs, but that will only sustain him for a short while. Not like he spend much on anything, besides cards, and instant ramen.
He moved his bed to the side, glancing down at his average Duel Disk. He attached the disk to his arm as he began to head out. What he wanted to do today was duel. Duel to his hearts content, unless he found a local tournament. He'll worry about the girl Lara from the Satellite later. Besides, he still has to find a way to get back there without doing something so risky.
The streets of downtown district were bustling with activity, something Red Hat didn't mind this time around. Despite, his dislike of large crowds. This time around, he was here to duel and a duel he will get. While wondering around the city. He was able to find a local area that was hosting a tournament.
"A tournament is being hosted today. Is there a spot left to register?" Red Hat asked the receptionist.
The receptionist looked at him with a smile. "You're lucky you came when you had the chance. This was the last remaining spot and the tournament is about to begin in a few minutes. Mind if I register your deck?" The receptionist asked, holding out his hand.
"Oh, sure thing." Red Hat handed over his deck for registration. His deck wasn't really that good at the moment. The deck was built with many left over cards from scrapped decks that he had. Majority of them had various stable cards and few tech cards. He hoped it would be enough to win enough of his duels. The mandates really handicapped any deck that he had before coming here. After a bit of waiting, his deck was approved and the receptionist handed back his deck.
"Your deck registration has been completed. You have a name or ID, if possible, so the registration can be completed?" The receptionist asked.
"I'm known as the Red Hat." He replied.
The receptionist had a questionable look as he was completing the registration. "I haven't heard such a name in a long time. Anyway, it's completed. Hope you enjoy the tournament."
Red Hat nodded. "Thank you, kind sir."
After registration for the tournament. He entered the halls of the building made his way to the waiting room. What he took notice was all the residents that were participating in this tournament. Somehow there were more girls in this tournament then he thought. He found this rather amusing. If long ago, someone told him that girls would be the majority in a tournament. He wouldn't have believed it. Yet, here we are, with the first tournament he was participating in New Domino City. Where the majority of contestants are females.
The tournament would soon begin, and the matches would be randomized. Red Hat took a look at the monitor in the waiting room and saw the match up. Apparently, his match would be the last match of round 1. His opponent would be someone named Reyna. While he didn't care about his opponent until he was already on the duel field. Still, he wondered who could that be.
While he waited for his match to start. He decided to keep an eye on the competition that was at hand via the monitors that were viewing the duels. So far, he found the competition rather interesting. Some decks though he did find gimmicky, while others were powerhouses. He was fairly amused at all the duels he was currently observing. This only got him more pumped up for his match.
He then noticed one girl sitting alone on one of the seats. She had short white hair and wore what looked like to be a school uniform. Although, he had no idea what school she belongs too. While he was curious to why she was alone, since all the other girls were either talking to each other, or arguing. It wasn't his place to interrupt her.
The white-haired girl stood up and began to walk away through the hallway. Not even bothering to glance at the so-called competition. Red Hat took notice of this and ignored her. Not wanting to bother her. He knew better then to follower her.
It only took a while, but Red Hat's turn to duel finally came up. Getting his deck ready, he made his way to the arena. He paid no mind to his spectators and stood on the right side of the arena. Curiously, his opponent wasn't there yet. He knew his opponent will arrive, so he waited for the surprise.
"Alright everyone! It's time for the last duel of round one! In the right corner give a warm welcome to our newcomer, the mysterious Red Hat!" The commentator announced.
Some of the audience clapped, but many were confused by the appearance of this young boy.
"And on the left side, give a warm welcome to our returning duelist, Reyna!" The commentator announced.
To Red Hat's shock, Reyna, his opponent was none other than the white-haired girl he saw walk away. She stared at him with a blank expression as she readied her duel disk.
"Duel..."
Red Hat nodded and readied his duel disk. "Alright, make the best duelist win. Game on!"
Red Hat: 8000 LP
Reyna: 8000 LP
"I'll start this duel! I draw!" Red Hat draws.
Hand 6
"I'll start by summoning Summoner Monk! (LV4 Atk: 800 Def: 1600)" From a cloud a smoke appeared what looked like a stone statue of a monk in a praying pose. "When he's summoned, he goes to defense mode. Now I'll use its effect. By discarding a spell card, I can special summon a level 4 monster from my deck, but it can't attack this turn!" Red Hat discards Mind Control, and soon a red light on top of the monk statue began to glow. "Appear, the tuner monster Flamvell Magician! (LV4 Atk: 1400 Def: 200)" A pyro user holding a red staff, and covered in flames emerged onto the field. "I tune level 4 Flamvell Magician and Level 4 Summoner Monk!" The Flamvell Magician turned into four stars that circled around the monk statue before turning into circles of green light. Both their bodies turned transparent and revealed 4 starts and lined up before creating a ray of light." Appear, level 8 Thought Ruler Archfiend! (LV8 Atk: 2700 Def: 2300)" A green dragon with silver armor around its body and gold talons appeared onto the field. "I'll set one card facedown and end my turn!" Red Hat ends his turn.
Hand 3
"It's been the first turn and Red Hat already has a synchro on the field! Reyna will have to pick up the pace if she plans to destroy it!" The commentator pointed out.
Red Hat raised an eye brow at the commentary. 'One synchro on the first turn isn't that amazing. I can make more synchros in one turn, but this deck is not well optimized.' He thought, not finding his play efficient.
"My turn, draw." Reyna draws, although, she spoke in a monotone voice.
Hand 6
"Continuous spell card, Card of Safe Return." The continuous spell appeared on the field. "Spell card, Terraforming. I add the field spell... Zombie World." Reyna flatly said.
'Zombie World? That makes all monsters on the field and in our graveyards to be zombie type. Plus, I can't tribute monsters unless they're zombie type themselves. Not like that part matters much...' Red Hat thought as the entire field was suddenly filled with a thick mist.
Eventually, it lifted a bit. When it did, the area was filled to be a dead forest, with the only source of light being the moon. There were a bunch of skulls everywhere on the ground and the occasional zombie roaming around. Thought Ruler Archfiend appearance changed. He was now decayed and his armor was breaking apart, and part of its wings and body revealed some bone.
"Summon... Zombie Master... (LV4 Atk: 1800 Def: 0)" A undead sorcerer appears onto the grave filled field. He wore a grey long shirt with brown teared-up pants, black boots and wore a purple cape around him. "His effect, discard a monster to special summon a zombie from either grave. I'll take your tuner... Flamvell Magician (LV4 Atk: 1400 Def: 200)" The flame magician reappears on the field, only now as a decaying corpse. "Tune, Flamvell Magician and Zombie Master..." The Flamvell Magician turned into four stars that circled around the Zombie Master before turning into circles of green light. Both their bodies turned transparent and revealed 4 starts and lined up before creating a ray of light. "Synchro... Summon. Colossal Fighter... (LV8 Atk: 2800 Def: 1000)" A giant colossal warrior appeared on the field before his body began to decay into a large corpse with bones showing on its arms.
"Reyna not only stole the Red Hat's tuner monster! She was able to synchro summon a monster stronger than his!" The announcer pointed out.
"Battle... Colossal Fighter..." The large fighter charges forward, despite being a corpse and smacks down the dragon.
Red Hat: 8000 - 7900 LP
"Turn end..." Reyna ends her turn.
Hand 2
"It's go time. My turn, I draw!" Red Hat draws.
Hand 3
"I summon Rescue Cat in attack mode! (LV4 Atk: 300 Def 100)" A small cat that wore a helmet depicting of a rescue team, appeared on the field, before its body decayed until it was left mostly as bone. "It won't be staying on the field for long. By sending to the graveyard, I can special summon two level three or lower beast type monsters from my deck. Appear, Des Wombat and the tuner monster X-Saber Airbellum! (LV3 Atk: 1600 Def: 300) (LV3 Atk: 1600 Def: 200)" Rescue Cat moves away from the field and was replaced by a malicious wombat and a beast wearing armor around its body and equipped with gauntlets that had long sharp metal claws. Both of them decayed and turned to the undead.
Reyna remained emotionless and just stared at his plays.
"I tune level 3 X-Saber Airbellum and level 3 Des Wombat!" X-Saber Airbellum turned into three stars that circled around the wombat before turning into circles of green light. Both their bodies turned transparent and revealed 3 starts and lined up before creating a ray of light. "Synchro Summon! Appear, Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier! (LV6 Atk: 2300 Def: 1400)" A large ice-covered serpent like dragon appeared while releasing cold winds and snow, before turning more undead like. "I'll use Brionac's effect. By discarding any number of cards from my hand, I can return an equal number of cards from either field back to the hand. I'll discard one card to return Colossal Fighter back to the extra deck!" As Red Hat discarded his card, Brionac unleashed a powerful icy wind and blew away Colossal Fighter.
"With very little effort, Red Hat was able to turn the tables on Reyna once again!" The commentator pointed out once more.
Reyna did not look the least bit worried about her situation. If anything, she just stared down the ice dragon with a blank expression.
Red Hat raised an eye brow at her lack of reaction, but thought nothing of it. "Battle, Brionac, attack her directly!" Brionac released powerful ice breath at Reyna, which Reyna only held herself to shield herself from the cold winds.
Reyna: 8000 - 5700 LP
"I end my turn." Red Hat ends his turn.
Hand 1
"My turn... draw." Reyna draws.
Hand 3
"Pass turn..." Reyna ends her turn. Not even making a single play.
Hand 3
"What's this? Did Reyna draw a bad hand and has nothing to use?" questioned the commentator.
"Something wrong? Well then, no use turning back, I draw!" Red Hat draws.
Hand 2
'This card will come in handy later. For now, my facedown is good enough.' He thought as he continued. "Battle, Brionac attack her directly again!" Brionac attack Reyna with icy winds again.
Reyna: 5700 - 3400 LP
"I end my turn. Something the matter?" Red Hat asked as he ended his turn.
Hand 2
"Nothing..." She flatly replied. 'Something about you...' she thought. Wondering who he actually was. Something about him was different, but she refused to open up. "I draw..."
Hand 4
"Mezuki effect... I banish him to revive... Zombie Master. (LV 4 Atk: 1800 Def: 0)" A yokai ox appeared, carrying Zombie Master and dropped him onto the field, before it disappeared. "I draw 1 card." She drew her card from Card of Safe Returns effect. "I use his effect. I discard a monster to special summon the tuner, Plaguespreader Zombie. (LV2 Atk: 400 Def: 200)" A hideous creature made of numerous different body parts from assorted animals appeared, and releasing what appeared to be venom around him. "I draw..."
'I'll save this for later. Once she pops off, I'll neutralize her quickly.' Red Hat thought, waiting for the perfect time to activate his trap.
"Quick play spell... Mystical Space Typhoon. Your facedown is destroyed..." She flatly explained as a powerful typhoon emerged and destroyed Red Hat's facedown.
'There goes that idea...' He though, now he had no defense on the field, since Zombie World was still on the field.
"Tune Plaugespreader Zombie and Zombie Master..." Plaugespreader turned into two stars that circled around the Zombie Master before turning into circles of green light. Both their bodies turned transparent and revealed 4 starts and lined up before creating a ray of light. "Synchro Summon. Appear, Doomkaiser Dragon." A hellish roar was from within the light before two rotting wings spread from it. When the light down, the rest of the new monster's body was revealed. It was an immense serpentine dragon with rotted gray flesh, an orb of hellfire blazing in its chest and its eyes blazing crimson. Its only limbs were its immense wings, which were crowned with a scythe-like talons, and its tail ended in a barbed point. The dragon let out a roar as it landed. (LV6 Atk: 2400 Def: 1500)
'With Zombie World still on the field, she can use his effect. Cause otherwise, unless you're in a zombie mirror match, it doesn't do much.' Red Hat observed.
"It's effect, can summon a zombie from your graveyard. Appear to my side, Thought Ruler Archfiend. (LV8 Atk: 2700 Def: 2300)" At that, the psychic dragon rose from the ground and rose next to the dragon. Its appearance was more zombie-like.
'I can stop one attack, but It will give me a chance.' Red Hat thought, staring down both dragons.
"Spell card, Book of Life... I special summon a Zombie from my graveyard and I get to banish a monster from your graveyard." Reyna checked the graveyard to see what Red Hat had. Thanks to a new system implemented in the duel disk. Both players can now check each other's graveyards for specific purposes. Reyna took a look and notice something. "I banish your Necro Gardna so I can special summon Zombie Master. (LV4 Atk: 1800 Def: 0)" Zombie Master reappeared from the many bones from the ground, while Necro Gardna was ejected from Red Hat's graveyard. "I get to draw."
'Dang, now I can't stop this and she can continue to pop off.' He thought, now fully cornered.
Reyna took a at her hand and wondered. Should she go full force or not? She rarely went all out against any opponent. 'Something about this boy is different... but why?' After hesitating for about a minute, she finally made her choice.
Red Hat noticed something was off about her. 'What is she waiting for? She can pop off and finish me. Does she not have the right hand? Why was she hesitating?' He observed, wondering what could be wrong.
Reyna glared and continued. "I use Zombie Master effect; I discard a monster to bring back a zombie. Appear, Goblin Zombie. (LV4 Atk: 1100 Def: 1050)" A black goblin, now turned into an undead, with decayed armor around its upper body emerged on the field. It carried a curved sword. "I draw 1 card..." She drew her card. "I play the spell, Smashing Ground. This destroys a monster on your field with the highest defense points. So Brionac gets destroyed." A fist came down from the sky and plummeted Brionac to the ground, before it got destroyed.
'Great, now I'm wide open and no other defense.' Red Hat thought, ready to brace the barrage of attacks he was about to face.
"Battle... Goblin Zombie, direct attack." The zombie-like goblin ran up to him and leap forward before slashing Red Hat with his sword.
Red Hat: 7900 - 6800 LP
"It's effect you must send the top card of your deck to the grave." Reyna explained as Red Hat was forced to mill a card. As soon as he did, two tokens appeared on his side which immediately decayed. (LV1 Atk: 0 Def: 0 X2) "Whats this?"
Red Hat smirked. "You made me mill Dandylion. When he's sent to the graveyard, I get to special summon two fluff tokens!"
"I see... Zombie Master attack the fluff token." Zombie Master launches a bolt of purple lightning and zaps the first fluff token. "Doomkaiser Dragon attack the second fluff token." The dragon roared and unleased a stream of flames from its maw and destroyed the second fluff token. "Thought Ruler Archfiend, direct attack." The psychic dragon launched a purple shockwave and collided with Red Hat.
Red Hat: 6800 - 4100 LP
"I set a card facedown, and end my turn." Reyna ends her turn.
Hand 2
"I won't let you push me around. My turn, I draw!" Red Hat draws.
Hand 3
"I play the spell card Lightning Vortex! I discard a card to destroy all monsters on your field!" As he discarded his card, powerful lightning bolts destroyed each monster on Reyna's field, one by one.
"Golbin Zombie effect, if it leaves the field, I get to add a zombie with 1200 defense or less from my deck to my hand. I'll add Paladin of the Cursed Dragon." Reyna explained as she added her card.
"Fine by me. I play the spell card, Monster Reborn! With this I special summon Thought Ruler Archfiend from my graveyard! (LV8 Atk: 2700 Def: 2300)" The psychic dragon, who immediately decayed, reemerged onto the field.
"Trap card activate, Bottomless Trap Hole. Your monster gets banished." A hole appeared below the psychic dragon. It was pulled into the hole by a few tentacles. As it fell to the hole, the hole closed up.
'Great, now I'm out of resources.' Red Hat thought, now being unable to do anything. "I end my turn." Red Hat ends his turn.
Hand 0
"My turn, draw." Reyna draws.
Hand 4
Reyna took a look at her hand and pondered if she should summon it. 'I never use this card... But should I use it against him?' She thought, reconsidering her choices. Shaking her head, she finally made her move. "I play the spell card foolish burial. I send a monster from my deck to the graveyard." Reyna takes a look through her deck and sends her second copy Paladin of the Cursed Dragon to the graveyard. "I banish Paladin of the Curse Dragon and Plaguespreader Zombie to special summon this card. Appear, Chaos Sorcerer! (LV6 Atk: 2300 Def: 2000)" A dark sorcerer wearing black robes appears on the field. In both of his hand, he conjured both light and dark flames. The sorcerer's body soon turned to bone, thanks to the effect of Zombie World-
The audience gasped at the sight of a chaos monster. Long forgotten by most duelists in this day and age, due to their long ban.
"I can't believe it folks! After a long time, all tournaments have allowed Chaos Sorcerer to return. Who would have thought Reyna would have such a monster!" The commentator announced.
'Dang... to think she would have a chaos monster. They been banned for so long, that most have forgotten about their power and easy summon condition. Even though he's the only one that's allowed back.' Red Hat thought, amazed that he was able to see a chaos monster in an actual tournament again, despite being his first time seeing one in action beyond test duels.
"I play the spell card, Burial from a Different Dimension. I return up to three banished cards from either side. I return Mezuki, Paladin of the Curse Dragon, and Plaguespreader Zombie." Reyna returns her monsters back to her graveyard. "I banish Mezuki to special summon Doomkaiser Dragon. (LV6 Atk: 2400 Def: 1500)" The yokai ox appears once more and caried Doomkaiser Dragon back on the field before disappearing.
'This is it. Game over.' Red Hat smiled at his inedible defeat, but something told him there was more to this. Was she holding back, or did she legitimately brick back there?
"Battle, Chaos Sorcerer direct attack." The chaos sorcerer launched his light and dark flames at Red Hat which he had to cover himself from the heat.
Red Hat: 4100 - 1800 LP
"This duel is mine... Doomkaiser Dragon, direct attack." The dragon roared and unleashed a stream of flames from its maw. Red Hat braced himself as he flames seared him, and dropped to one knee.
Red Hat: 1800 - 0 LP
"It's been decided. The winner of the first round goes to Reyna after a breath-taking comeback and surprises!" The commentator announced. "Now the winner will get a rare card, while the losing side will receive a consolation card!"
Reyna walked over to the commentator and obtained her card. She put it away immediately, not even bothering to look at the card. Red Hat also walked over to the commentator and took the consolation card. He took a look at the card and it revealed to be, The Warrior Returning Alive.
'A card I don't tend to use besides warrior tool box decks. Still, can't sleep on it. Not every deck wants Pot of Averice.' Red Hat thought as he put away his card in his deck box.
Feeling no need to stick around. He left the arena, only to stay behind and watch the remaining duels. He had nothing better to do at the moment, so why not watch more duels? He could use this to experience what his opponents would run the next time he saw them in a tournament scene. From his experience, most duelist very rarely change their deck's play style or change a deck entirely. So, this was a good chance to study up on them.
Watching the many duels allowed to get enough knowledge on the decks he'd be facing in the future. One thing was certain. He would have to buy more packs and start creating new decks. Since, his current deck is outdated, and other decks he did have are obsolete. Thanks to all the mandates every tournament league had to comply with.
After a while, he noticed that Reyna had lost to a Demise deck. While Rituals were still a very unpopular play style. Since, well the only good ritual at the moment was Demise for board wipes. As rituals were either vanillas, underpowered, or outdated in the case of Relinquished. Yet, Reyna performed well against him, and lost in the semi-finals. Now he was curious about her.
He didn't have to wait long. Cause Reyna immediately left the arena and came down to the waiting room. Red Hat walked over to her. "Hey you did well out there, but I wanted to ask you something."
Reyna turned around and gave him and empty stare. "Yes?"
"I noticed you were hesitating back there with your moves. I wanted to know if you're struggling with your moves or you were holding back?" Red Hat questioned.
Reyna didn't answer at first. She looked away from him before responding. "I don't want to stand out."
This statement made Red Hat confused. "Not stand out? What do you mean by that? Does that mean you hold back your ability on purpose?"
"I don't wish to discuss this..." Reyna walks away, not even bothering to glance at him. 'What's his deal? Why does he care?'
"H-hey! Don't go! I still have more questions!" He called out.
"Don't bother her." Red Hat turned around at the sound of the voice. It was none other than a green-haired girl wearing the same school uniform that Reyna and a few others girls were wearing. However, unlike the rest of them, she wore glasses.
"Who might you be?" Red Hat asked, not being familiar with the kinds of people around this city.
She adjusted her glasses and glared at him. "My name is Reika Hara, or as many tend to call me, Bright. You aren't from around here, are you?"
"I just moved in a couple days ago." He answered. "Only now I decided to explore the city and participate in tournaments. I'm aiming to hopefully make dueling my career."
Bright had to smirk at his explanation. "Is that all? Kind of a roundabout way of starting. Looks to me you, still have quite the ways to go."
"Guess you can call it that." He simply replied.
Bright then furrowed her brows, getting back to the topic at hand. "As I mentioned before, leave that girl alone!"
"Something the matter? I don't recall you being my boss." He remarked with a smirk.
'Why you... You have audacity to talk to me in such a way? Just who do you think you are?!' She thought, angered by his lack of manners, but calmed down. "Listen you, stay away from Reyna Megumi! Do I make myself clear?"
"I don't see what's the problem. I can talk to her whenever I want, can I?" He said more as a statement, then a question.
"You really don't know people like her, do you?" Bright adjusted her glasses. "Megumi Reyna tends to isolate herself from people. She lives alone in an apartment, which I won't tell you where. She acts quiet to avoid attention." She sighed. "Wish she didn't take that to heart with her studies and dueling ability."
"Why is that? Why is she so worried? Is she worried about being taken advantage of? Cause if that's the case then..." He remained silent, trying to come up with an answer. Would he be able to help her? From what he knows, she was holding back, but didn't understand why. Was something wrong going on in her life to act in such a lonesome state? "I want to help her."
Bright narrowed her eyes, not feeling convinced. "You honestly think you can help her express herself? Sorry to say this, but she's an absolute chore to speak too. She barely speaks and only answers with the bare minimum responses. I know her residence, but I can't tell you. That's for you to figure out if you're that desperate."
"So, you aren't going to help me or help me find a lead? Do you honestly believe I'll do something to her?" Red Hat asked with distain in his voice.
"You can't be trusted. She already has enough problems in her life. She doesn't need more problems, especially if those problems involve you." Bright said as she walked away. She stopped for a moment to give him a saying. "If you can build trust with her and others, then maybe I'll reconsider my opinion on you." Bright left him alone in the lobby.
Red Hat stood there with many thoughts flowing through his head. Just what did she mean by building trust? Granted, he's new to this city, but build trust with who? The both of them or more people? If it was the latter, then that was more effort than it was worth. If it was to prove to Bright that he can be trusted. Then that was more manageable. Although, he never got an idea on where those two goes. Since, both of them wore the same uniform. That would mean they go to at least one of the schools the city offers. Assuming there's more than one. He couldn't just barge in without permission. So that's another layer of difficulty. He decided to not ponder on that any further. He wasn't going to get an answer right away.
He'd soon leave the building, not caring who won the tournament today. After getting defeated on the first round. Now was the time to make adjustments to his deck. He can't afford to make any more mistakes. He'll have to construct more decks and test them out on various oponents. He doesn't want to make the same mistake, entering a tournament, only to get caught off guard. If what his observations were true. The duelists here we're no joke.
He made his way back to the card shop and entered the one room store. With a small jingle to announce his arrival. Rathie stood up from his desk.
"Welcome back! Want anything in particular?" Rathie asked, showing him some boxes filled with card packs. "Today is Saturday, so it's Earth pack day. Got plenty of boxes for today. If you're feeling lucky you may get some rare cards."
"Got anything else to sell? Maybe different boxes?" Red Hat asked, hoping there was more than just an earth attribute box of packs.
"Oh? Well then, I got some new box sets that just came in this morning. It's called Holy Revolution." Rathie went around the corner to get some boxes. "Here it is. Got plenty of boxes of each for the day."
Red Hat smiled as he looked at the boxes. "I'll take 3 boxes of the earth attribute packs and 4 of Holy Revolution."
Rathie had to chuckle at his huge by out. "My my, spending that much? You're one crazy fellow I'll tell you that!" Rathie handed him the 7 boxes of brand-new card packs, not before charging Red Hat a hefty price.
While Red Hat slightly sweat dropped from the price. He knew in the long run it would be worth it. After he paid him, he took a couple of bags and places the boxes in both bags. "Thank you, Rathie." As he was about to leave, he turned around to face him. "Say... if there any way I can get discounts? Just curious is all."
The man laughed. "Not usually. But I'll tell you what. I'll cut you a deal. If you happen to ever come across one of those rare card figurines everyone's into nowadays, you bring it back here, got it?"
Red Hat raised an eye brow. 'I see, so you're one of those people. I'm not one to judge people's taste, but I doubt getting those rare figurines will be easy.'
"I'll keep an eye out for those then." Red Hat sighed, already not looking forward to trying to collect random figurines from one of the vending machines, just for a chance to find a rare figurine. Cause no way was he going to buy them from random strangers, and finding them as gifts is a pipe dream.
"Ha ha, I'll see you later, Red Hat!" Rathie said his goodbyes.
Red Hat sighed as he left the store. At the least he was satisfied with his purchases. Now, the real question was. Can he build a deck with just these card packs? He found it unlikely, but he was at least glad he had some older cards back at home to mix and match.
'Okay then, if this works. Then I'll have to test them at some opponents before heading back to a tournament. Can't make the same mistakes again.' He thought as he made his way back to his small home. His so-called adventure to meet new people and live his new life has only just begun.
A/N: To address the elephant in the room. This version of Red Hat is not the same Red Hat from GX era. I personally do not believe it can be the same guy, despite all the claims on the internet.
Main focus least for now, is to introduce the Tag Force only characters before checking out some side character stories and events. I don't want to repeat the same idea as some other people. Now there will be some time skips, cause it's going to get repetitive going by day-to-day basis. Cause my intention is only have Red Hat involved in certain plots in small intervals.
Deck profiles for characters that will appear will mostly be a mix and match of multiple deck profiles in the actual games. Sometimes edited to make them more consistent. Duel will be at 8000 LP and there will be spot removal. I will be sticking to LORE of 5Ds when it comes to certain cards. Namely the signer dragons. Cause it wouldn't make sense for 5Ds Red Hat to have signer dragons, when he isn't a signer. Though, duel spirits will still be a thing just sporadically. Though that won't stop him from playing as many decks as he can since he has no particular style.
