Clearing Out An Infection.
It was finally time. Everyone were rested and ready. It was now time to finally clear out their Rakghoul problem. The plan was simple. Uther, Arthas and Sonya will keep the Rakghouls busy, and allow Nova to sneak in to the hive, plant a bomb that will wipe them all out and get out. Should anything go wrong, Lena can come in with her ship and help Nova out. The plan was well thought out and well planned. If everything goes as planned, the Rakghouls will soon be little more than a bad memory and Taris will finally be free from the plague.
Arthas was getting ready for the mission, until he noticed an device he was carrying with him. He turned it on, revealing a Holo-Picture of Jaina. Whenever he was going out on a mission that could kill him, he always remembered Jaina. She was always waiting for him, so he would always make sure to make it back alive. Because Jaina is worth living for, and go through hell to get back to. Arthas smiled and put the picture away. Time to clear out the Rakghouls so he could get back to the woman he loves.
Speaking of lovers, Nova and Lena were also getting ready for the mission. They had gone over the plan several times and was now ready to execute it. Still there was always the chance that the plan could fail, so they always made sure to have a back up plan ready, just in case something did happen. After getting ready, they stood in front of each other holding each other's hands as they looked in each other's eyes.
"Wish me luck" Nova said.
Lena smiled "I would if I you needed it. But it's just some monsters that could overrun a planet unless we stop them. Nothing you can't handle".
Nova chuckled a little at that "Your ability to joke even in the face of dangerous situations almost makes me jealous".
"Well it's what keeps me sane in these dark times. Just be careful in there. I know you can handle it, but I am not to thrilled about you going down to a Rakghoul nest and facing what might be the source of the infection" Lena said.
Nova rubs Lena's cheek "Not planning on fighting the Eyeless. I will just plant the bomb and get out. If anything goes wrong, I will contact you, and you will come flying in to save me. Just like you've done before".
Lena smiles "Someone has to keep you alive".
Nova smiles back and gave Lena a kiss "Alright, let's get this over with so we can pick up where we left of".
Lena giggled "Yes ma'am!".
With that Nova heads out to meet up with the others, and Lena headed over to the ship, to get it ready, just in case. Once everyone was ready, Uther, Arthas and Sonya got ready to face the Rakghouls, while Nova was waiting for the right moment to sneak in with the bomb. But to create an opening like that, the others needed a way to gain the Rakghouls' attention. Sonya had a way. She took out a grenade and threw it in to the hole... a little later there was an explosion... and moments later, Rakghouls came swarming out, like insects coming out of their nest.
"Here they come! Both of you, Get ready! And remember, don't let them lay as much as scratch on you!" Uther ordered as he turned on his lightsaber.
Arthas did the same "Yes master!".
Sonya smirked as she readied her swords "Finally, I get to cut these freak in to pieces!".
The Rakghouls charged at them, but Uther and Arthas combined their power and unleashed a powerful force push, forcefully scattering the Rakghouls and making sure they couldn't pile over them. Sonya let out a battle cry as she charged in, using her Baskar blade to cut through several Rakghouls, her Mandalorian armor would keep her protected. Arthas used his lightsaber to strike down any Rakghoul that got to close, before force pushing several more away from him when they tried to attack him. Uther struck down several larger Rakghouls, moving with such skills and precision that no Rakghoul seemed to be a threat to him. He then held up his hand, creating a small storm which forced several Rakghouls back.
He noticed the battle attracted more Rakghouls "Looks like our distraction is working. I hope everything goes well on Nova's end".
Inside the Rakghoul nest, Nova was carrying the bomb further in. It wasn't to big, but still packed a lot of power, more than enough to make the whole tunnel system crumble. She just had to place it at the right spot and get out before it explodes. She finally reached the center of the tunnels... and much to her annoyance, the Eyeless Rakghoul was still there. Had to be careful not to alert it to her location... but it was massive... easily the size of a Rancor, if not bigger. And non of Nova's weapons could kill something of that size. The bomb was her only chance.
She sneaks behind several rocks, hoping the massive Rakghoul wouldn't sense her. Good thing Lena is in the ship. Nova didn't want her anywhere near this monster, and Nova would sleep easier knowing Lena would be in no danger of becoming a Rakghoul or being killed by one. She managed to sneak to the spot she needed to plant the bomb. She put the bomb down and began to set the timer. She put it at five minutes, that should be enough time for her to make it out before it explodes. But just as she started the time, she heard a growl.
She got wide eyes as she looked behind her "Damn it!".
The Eyeless had noticed her and was walking towards her with heavy steps. Nova couldn't let it destroy the bomb, or the whole mission will fail. She had to distract it... and this made her time to get out a lot shorter. She shot at the Eyeless, but as expected it had no effect on the massive creature. But it didn't need to, Nova just needed to keep it focused on her and away from the bomb. The Eyeless stomps towards her as surprising speed for it's size, forcing Nova to duck to the side to avoid it's large fist, which shattered the ground on impact.
Feeling like her job was done, Nova began running towards the exit. But the Eyeless wasn't about to just let her escape and roars loudly. This would cause several Rakghouls to rush back in to the tunnels, which was both a good and a bad thing. The good thing was that more Rakghouls would be caught in the collapsing tunnels. The bad part was that now Nova would have an even harder time getting out... and if even one Rakghoul manages to hit her, she would be doomed whether she makes it out or not. So she had to shoot every Rakghoul she saw as she hurried towards the exit, and the timmer was ticking down more and more... she might not make it.
'No! I will not die in here! I still have someone to live for! I will not leave her!' Nova thought in her head and began running faster.
Motivated by her thoughts about Lena, Nova fought her way through the Rakghouls, not letting a single one touch her. The timer was ticking down... 5 seconds...4 seconds... 3 seconds... 2 seconds... 1 second.
Outside the others had been fighting nearly non stop since Nova went inside. But they did notice several Rakghouls going back inside. They worried about Nova but there was nothing they could do to help her since they still had their hands full with the Rakghouls that remained outside. Suddenly there was an explosion and Nova rushed out of the collapsing tunnels. Many of the Rakghouls weren't so lucky, including the Eyeless, all of which were buried inside.
"Nova! Are you alright?" Arthas asked as he killed a Rakghoul that tried to attack Nova, who was on the ground in exhaustion.
"I'll live... and no Rakghoul wounds. So I will remain beautiful too" Nova said with a small joke.
Arthas chuckled before his attention was drawn to the rubble which had begun to move... and suddenly the Eyeless burst through all the rock "By the Force...".
Nova had a shocked look "Impossible... I dropped the whole tunnel system on it! No way it could've survived that!".
"Sometimes things aren't as clear as we believe they are" Uther said as he eyed the monster.
"Well one thing is clear for me. If something didn't die right away, just hit it until it stays dead" Sonya declared, readying her blades.
"Don't get to close. There is a chance it can infect you by being to close to you" Uther said, they knew nothing about this monster, so he didn't want to take any risks.
"I got us covered. Lena, you're up" Nova said with a hand on her ear.
"Already on my way, babe" Lena answered as she arrived with her ship.
She fired the ship's canons at the Eyeless, making it roar in pain as the large energy blasts hit it several times. Lena flew over it but quickly and with amazing piloting skills, turns around and fires two missiles, which hits the Eyeless in the chest and head. Large chunks of flesh was blown of, and the large monster falls to the ground, dead.
"Nice flying and shooting, Lena" Nova praised.
"Nothing a good ship can't handle. Now lets mop up what remains so we can finally leave" Lena said.
Getting no argument from the others as they spent the rest of the day hunting down and neutralizing any remaining Rakghouls. The hunt for the stragglers were long and taxing, but they managed to finally get rid of the plague before he could spread again. At last, Taris was free from the Rakghoul plague. And The republic heroes could finally rest for a while.
While Uther was meditating, Arthas took the chance to talk to Jaina again, and told her about what happened "And now, Taris is free from the Rakghoul plague. Hopefully now they will be able to rebuild everything that was destroyed".
Jaina smiles "So you and the Mandalorian managed to not kill each other".
"Surprisingly, she grows on you. Once you look beyond the bad blood between jedi and mandalorians, she and I have a couple of things in common. Mainly that we prefer action over words. To bad she left early after work was done" Arthas said.
"Well, what does that make me? Boring?" Jaina asked in good fun.
Arthas chuckled "Jaina, you are among the only people in the galaxy who's voice I want to listen to all day".
Jaina giggled "Good to hear. But I am glad your mission was an success. And that you made a new friend along the way".
"I am happy its over now. Maybe now I can come back and visit you" Arthas said with a warm smile.
Jaina smiled back "I'd love that. See you soon, Arthas. I love you".
"I love you too" Arthas said before the transmission ended.
He takes a deep breath, hoping he could finally have some time of with Jaina now.
Meanwhile, Lena and Nova were spending some alone time together. They were kissing each other a lot, with Nova's now bare hands feeling up Lena's butt. Lena moans from her lover's touch as she managed to open the top of Nova's suit, exposing her healthy sized breasts. A sight Lena could never get tired of, and Nova was more than happy to let Lena see them.
"I love you..." Lena whispered.
Nova smiled "Love you too".
They kissed again before Nova lifts Lena up and carries her to a bed, where they can finish their fun.
Elswhere, the mandalorian clan leader, Garrosh, was looking at a large larva he had recently killed. He and his warriors had been hunting Rakghouls, but discovred something more worrying than even the Rakghoul plague.
"What does this mean, Garrosh?" One of the warriors asked.
"It means that while the jedi may have cleared out the Rakghouls... but something far more dangerous is waiting to spread... like a Swarm" Garrosh answered.
Garrosh was right. In another place, one of the last remaining Rakghouls were searching for something to only for it to hear a hissing sound. It looked just in time to be hit in the face by strong acid which made it screech in pain before something tackled it down and stabbed it to death with large claw arms. The mysterious creature dragged the dead Rakghoul down a hole in the ground, where the larva can consume and evolve.
Something far more deadly than the Rakghouls was on the planet... and unlike the Rakghouls, these beasts were far more coordinated.
