Chapter 1 : Back alive
AN: hello my lovelies and welcome to my new Coco fanfic roles reversed. I hope you all enjoy and hold on because it's gonna get rough on some chapters but without further ado the first chapter.

It was just a regular day at the Rivera household in the land of the dead everything was in perfect order. Those who weren't in the workshop were settling in their regular activities. Imelda had just finished an order for the Perez 's when she heard an announcement being poured over the speakers on the radio. She was shocked as was the rest of the family it was Lady Catrina . Héctor came over to his wife and listened in as well.
"Attention Everyone, I have a big announcement I know I don't talk to you darlings enough which is why I have decided that you get to visit all your living relatives for a year and only a year after it is over you MUST come back to the land of the dead". Catrina explains
Everyone in the House was shocked but excited to see there living family . Héctor was the most surprised as he hadn't seen his living family except for Dia de Muertos .
"The reason I am doing this is because I am sure you will all want to see your family and I am sure you miss them very much, So while you are there you can do as you please I will only do this every two years as a surprise. Although now I said it out loud it Is not much of a surprise ". Catrina continued
The family all laughed at that and smiled at each other.
"One more thing you'll look like you do in your photos on your families ofrenda and any illnesses or diseases you have will be vanished completely. But once you get back to the land of the dead you'll be changed back to the age you died, So enjoy this time while you have it my lovelies . But remember you MUST be back by the end of the year , So Enjoy this time with your family while you have it. That's all for now". Catrina finished
"I can't believe it ". Rosita breathed
"Well it 's happening Mija, I say we do it Imelda?" He looked at his wife with questioned eyes.
"You heard the lady pack your things". Imelda smiled proudly
So for the next hour the family closed up the shop and packed their things They soon left and crossed the bridge the last one to cross was Imelda. She crossed and the family was shocked but Héctor just smiled realising how beautiful she was , They walked hand in hand to the Plaza where they saw a familiar face in the plaza It was Miguel.
Imelda and the rest of the family looked on with pride as they joined in with the crowd. Their Miguel was now 22 and looked so much like Héctor they all smiled.
They watched as he sang:
"Solitaria, camina la bikina
Y la gente se pone a murmurar
Dicen que tiene una pena
Dicen que tiene una pena, que la hace llorar".
"Altanera, preciosa y orgullosa
No permite la quieran
Pasa luciendo su real ".
"Pasa, camina y nos mira sin vernos jamás
La bikina, tiene pena y dolor
La bikina, no conoce el amor".
They watched as he sang with pride and love. Then watched as he twirled his sister around in the plaza while singing .
"Vamos Hermanita ". He said as he twirled her around
"La La La La La La". Miguel continued
Socorro laughed as he spun her around.
He sang with Jose and the other Mariachi:
" Altanera, preciosa y orgullosa
No permite la quieran consolar
Pasa luciendo su real majestad".
"Pasa, camina y nos mira sin vernos jamás
La bikina, tiene pena y dolor
La bikina, no conoce el amor".
"Altanera, preciosa y orgullosa
No permite la quieran consolar
Dicen que alguien ya vino y se fue".
"Dicen que pasa las noches llorando por él
La bikina, tiene pena y dolor
La bikina, no conoce el amor".
Héctor and julio couldn't just stand there so they grabbed the family and started to dance. They couldn't be Happier, especially Imelda and Héctor It felt like they were back in the past granted they were young because of the photos but it felt like ecstasy.
As the song finished Miguel took his bow and so did The Mariachi as the people in the plaza clapped.
His family went up to him and hugged him , Miguel was super surprised his dead relatives were alive.
"C-c-como?" He studded
"Mamá Imelda, Mamá Coco ,Papá Héctor!!!" He shrieked
"Hola Mijo we didn't mean to scare you we were just watching and-" Héctor was cut off
"I am so glad you're okay I thought I didn't make it". Miguel embraced Héctor
"Estas bien Mijo". Héctor reassured
"Miguelito how have you been?" Coco asked
"Bueno". Miguel smiled
Just then he turned around to find a Shocked Coco behind him, Miguel so wrapped up in the moment forgot about his sister.
"Miguel who are you talking to?" She piped
"Oh Hermanita didn't see you there". He gave her a big hug
"Do you recognise these people?" He asked as he looked expectantly at her
"I think so?" Coco tilted her head
The family stepped closer and waited for her to make the connection but they didn't overcrowd her.
Her eyes then lit up as she recognised their faces from the ofrenda .
"Tia Rosita?" She looked up at the chubby woman
"Si Mija". Rosita then hugged her
"Tio Oscar, Tio Felipe?" Coco tilted her head
"Hola sobrina". The two waved
"Tia Victoria?" Coco looked at the woman holding a book
"Hola Mija". She smiled at Coco
"Mamá Coco y Papá Julio?" Coco looked at the couple
"Si Mijita". Julio nodded
They went over and hugged her tight she laughed
"Mamá Imelda y Papá Héctor?" Coco looked towards the couple
"Hola Mija". Imelda waved
Héctor just stood surprised that his granddaughter even knew he was.
"Papá Héctor ?" Coco repeated
"Give him a second chiquita ". Miguel commented
Then with Love and admiration in his eyes he picked up his granddaughter and twirled her around and prepped kisses all over her face. Miguel , Imelda and the rest of the family watched the sight with love and happiness.
"Papá Héctor!!" Coco screamed
" I can't help it I need hugs from Mija". He replied
He then held her on the way back to the Rivera household. Every smile couldn't be contained as they walked back to the hacienda .
"I have to say your playing has gotten better Mijo". Coco comments
"Gracias just a lot of practice is all". Miguel looked bashful
"How did you guys get here anyway?" Miguel asked
"We'll tell you once were inside vamos". Imelda explains
So with that they traveled hand in hand to the Rivera hacienda with smiles happy to be reunited.

AN: that's it my lovelies I hope you enjoy chapter 1 of roles reversed I decided to write this because one it's been in my head for ages and two because I thought it would be nice for Miguel to see his family again with Coco which I think would be very very sweet and seeing as no one has written that much about them being back alive I decided to put it into my own hands so I hope you enjoyed and as always feel free to come in comment your thoughts feelings and I will see you in the next chapter.
