Familial Bond Prompt (Pitched by Alwaysdoubted.)

Goal: Pick two or three family members from any universe you want and do a scene where they bond together, thus strengthening their ties. It does not matter what their relationship is, as long as they are family members. (i.e., father/son, husband/wife, uncles, aunts, grandmother, grandfather)

Pairing: King and Lisa

Verse: DOA

Relationship: Boyfriend+Girlfriend (Later Husband+Wife)

Additional Comment: I have many families to choose from, but most of them are in stories that I plan on continuing/finishing, so finding a pairing was hard.

The Scene

It was late at night as Lisa was waiting for what seemed like eternity outside The Tipsy Cherry Blossom's closed doors. She was supposed to meet King here for some alone time, but he didn't show. It wasn't like him to be late or stand her up. Were the laughs they shared a massive front? Was he playing her for a fool? She didn't believe that to be the reason but was still fuming and deserved an explanation.

If only she knew what he was roped into doing on this cold, windy night, especially during her walk to the Blossom. The sky was as black as a shutoff tv. Even the Sakura Petals that typically flooded the streets, bridges, and streams seemed to be drained of their bright and vibrant color. Now that she's been sitting on the Blossom's steps for what felt like hours, the wind has died down considerably, the sky and petals regaining some of their colors though it was rather late.

As Lisa was about to give up and get a hotel, she heard footsteps coming from the elongated staircase leading to the mountain temple. Who on earth could that possibly be? It must be past midnight!

"Who's there?" Lisa questioned as she walked towards the mysterious figure.

The footsteps became louder as a figure she recognized formed a clear image. She knew exactly who it was.

"King...?" Lisa became heated. "What took you so long!? You had me waiting outside the Blossom for hours!"

But when she saw King's physical condition, anger shifted instantly to shock.

King was breathing heavily, blood and a cornucopia of bruises occupying his face and what she could see of his torso. He continued walking until fatigue caught up as he fell forward.

Lisa rushed up and grabbed him before he hit the stone floor. "King! What happened to you?"

"Lisa... Blossom... Keys... In my left pocket."

That was all King could mutter before coughing up blood. Lisa's eyes widened as she carried King's body to the Blossom and frantically dug her hand into his left pocket as instructed and grabbed his key ring. Her memory was vivid as Lisa saw him take out his key ring and picked the one to the Blossom stuck with her. She never thought that would be information worth remembering. Until now that she's dating her crush, who's extremely hurt and tired? This may have been the most important thing she learned, period.

Finding the Blossom keys, Lisa unlocked the door and moved him inside. She knew the place's layout and had no trouble flicking the switch to turn on the establishment's lights. She needed to take him upstairs where the beds were. He had them placed if he didn't feel like going back to his home though it was 15 minutes by foot. Lisa maneuvered to the beds and put him on the nearest mattress as soft as she could. She felt on his forehead to get his temperature - not hot, just hurt.

"Sit tight, I'm going to get some ice," Lisa told him before moving swiftly through the building.

She could hear a faint 'thank you' from her boyfriend as she left.

Lisa saw him lose battles before but has never seen him this injured. If something worsened his condition, she would never forgive herself! Lisa grabbed a towel and dampened it before grabbing an ice pack from the freezer and some water from the fridge. With everything she needed for the moment, Lisa rushed back to her boyfriend, already noticing that his breathing regulated. Even so, she wasn't going to leave him like this. Setting the ice pack and the water on the floor, she used the towel to wipe the blood smeared on his face.

Sweat trickled down Lisa's face as she cleaned each wound. With every bruise disinfected, she started icing the ones on his face, King wincing from the cold substance. He grew acclimated to the cold as it shrank the swelling. His facial bruises were now merely a fraction of their original size.

Lisa grabbed the bottle of water. "Okay, Ken. I have some water. Can you drink?"

She used his real name, a true testament of his trust for the luchadora.

He slowly nodded while trying to sit up, Lisa instantly moving to help him to do so. "Okay, here it comes."

She uncapped the bottle and began pouring it over his lips. King slowly clutched the bottle and drained the water slowly.

Afterward, Lisa took the bottle away. "Good, you drank the whole thing. It's late, you should rest. I'll be in the next bed in case you need mem, okay?"

"Yes, Lisa... Thank you."

King's weak hand clutched Lisa's as he kissed her palm despite a lack of strength. Lisa reciprocated the action by kissing a spot on his forehead that wasn't bruised.

"Sleep tight." She kissed him good night and moved to the bed next to her boyfriend was on, glad that she saved her boyfriend's life. Lisa fell asleep soon after closing her eyes.

Next Morning:

When Lisa woke the next morning, she immediately turned to see if King was still there. He was waking up himself, slowly sitting up as he held his head.

Lisa moved so she can greet him. "Hey... I was originally angry with you, but after seeing your condition, I immediately forgave you."

"Sorry, Lisa. I didn't mean to stand ya up," King responded.

"How are you feeling?"

"Like shit, but I'll live. I didn't mean to worry you so much."

"That's window dressing at this point, Ken." Lisa sat on the bed's edge, her red eyes gazing at her boyfriend in worry. "But what happened? What did you get into?"

"While I was on my way to the Blossom, I was intercepted by Hayabusa-san. He wanted my help in killing a monster that was causing the harsh winds and weather in Japan these past few days."

"A monster?"

"Yes, a Tengu. Bankotsubo's his name, and he somehow escaped the Demon Realm. Hayabusa-san asked me to help, and expecting us to practically jump him, he somehow gained help. We fought him for what seemed like forever, and during the battle, I got hurt. A lot."

The couple laughed at King's misfortune, King wincing when the laughter hit a wounded part of his stomach. "But we as well as Ein who also helped, killed Bankotusbo. The weather should be back to normal now."

To think... Lisa knew he was powerful, but to hold his own with a demon? That explains why King was so hurt.

"I'm so sorry for worryin' you, Lisa." King rubbed over her knuckles, wracked with guilt. "It was extremely last minute. Had I knew exactly what I was gettin' into, I would've said no in a heartbeat since it completely ruined our plans."

Lisa shook her head. "Don't worry about that. I'm just glad you're okay, though I wished you would stop being so altruistic. It could get you killed since we're both dealing with things involving the supernatural." She kissed his forehead. "But that was a real problem, and if you can assist, then I'm glad you did."

"Lisa, I love you," King declared.

Lisa felt her heart palpitate. "You don't mean that, Ken..."

Her attempted denial wasn't fooling Ken despite being in immense pain as he moved in and pecked Lisa on the lips.

"Yes, I do. I love you, Lisa. You are the best thing that ever happened to me, bar-none; the only one to support my motivations on the Blossom. No one else shared your level of support, not the folks from my former Camp, my parents, not even Helena. But you... you stuck with me through all this shit. You're so special to me, Lisa, you can't even fathom it." King continued.

Tears fell from Lisa's eyes as they trickled down her face. Sniffing, she wiped them away before moving in to give King the most passionate kiss they shared since dating one another.

"I love you too, Ken. You gave me the courage I didn't even know I wanted or needed. You're special to me too." She reciprocated, pecking the bridge of his nose, her face getting hotter by the minute.

"I'm happy you feel that way, which makes this decision even easier," King finalized as he started to slowly get out of bed.

Worriedly, Lisa voiced her opinion. "Ken, I don't think that's a good idea."

"Don't worry, Lisa. I can't fight, but I can walk," he reassured her as he moved around the bed and got in front of Lisa.

Clutching her hand, King pulled her off the bed and moved her downstairs to the lounge area. "Lisa, when we started seeing each other, we faced a lot of obstacles: DOATEC, Helena, and getting the money to gain ownership of the Blossom. Yet here we are. Through everything, we practically share the same mindset and goal. To make each other happy and prosper," King poetically spoke.

"Of course, our relationship has definitely survived the rough." She agreed with his sentiments. "But where are you-"

Lisa was rendered speechless by what her boyfriend did next.

Despite being in great pain, Kenta King Xiaoyu got on one knee, reaching into his right pocket to take out a black box. He opened it to reveal a diamond ring, the diamond itself not so modest.

"Lisa Hamilton, I love you so much. Will you... marry me?"

King was proposing to her! She never could've imagined this in her wildest dreams! The tears came down with no remorse as she violently nodded her head.

"Yes, Ken! Yes, thousand times Yes!"

Lisa pulled him back up and gave him a deep hug and an even deeper kiss. Toughing through the pain, King returned her affections. When the pair separated, they shared a peck before King took the ring and placed it on her left ring finger that fitted perfectly on the Butterfly's finger.

King kissed his fiance's cheek one last time. "From now on, Lisa, it's you and I versus the world. And we will not lose."

"Lisa Hamilton Xiaoyu," she spoke her eventual new name before kissing him again. "I love it. And I love you, fiance."
