Chapter 3
Jason, his classmates, Jojo and Haida arrived back at the campus after being gone for several days. Jason, Casper, Desoto and Rosco go to their rooms to drop off their luggage while Jojo goes back to work and Haida heads home. Haida gives Jojo a quick kiss before heading to the car and hopping in. Jojo begins doing his patrol of the campus as he smells something weird in the air.
"The fuck is that smell?" Jojo thinks to himself as he begins to follow the smell. Five minutes later he comes to an opening between the Cafeteria, Jojo can clearly tell that the smell is coming from there, once he approaches he sees two gazelles and a koala smoking something on a piece of foil.
"HEY WHAT DO YOU GUY'S THINK YOU'RE DOING HERE?! YOU KNOW YOU CAN'T BE SMOKING FENTANYL ON CAMPUS, LET ALONE YOU SHOULDN'T BE SMOKING THAT AT ALL. I NEED YOU GUYS TO EITHER THROW IT AWAY OR GO OFF CAMPUS AND SMOKE IT." Jojo says as the koala takes a hit of the drug before walking up to Jojo and blowing the smoke in his face.
"What you gonna do about it bunny boy," The koala says snickering. Jojo tries again to tell the 3 that they have to leave but they refuse and continue to smoke it. Jojo begins to gag as he falls to his knees before throwing up. Seeing this scares the 3 college students as they jump over Jojo and begin to run away.
"We gotta get him help," says one of the gazelle's
"Hell no, if we do he's gonna snitch on us and if he snitches then I can possibly get kicked out and my dad would have my ass mounted above the fire place." The Koala says panting as he runs towards his dorm.
Jojo tries to walk but then collapses on the grass infront of the cafeteria passing out. Several minutes later Jason them meet up in the lobby as they begin to make their way to the cafeteria for a late snack before dinner.
"Hey Jason the ambulance is here, I wonder what happened?" Desoto asks. As the group just casually walk towards the cafeteria but stop dead in their tracks when they hear 2 flamingo girls talking to each other.
"Omg can you believe it, they say that 3 guys was smoking drugs and the security guard had a reaction to it."
"I know right, luckily someone found him and called the ambulance, god knows how long he was on the ground."
"WHAT!" The gang scream as they begin to sprint towards the crowd. Jason them pushes their way through the crowd to see Jojo on the ground, his face flush and a doberman doing CPR while Jojo has an oxygen mask on his face.
"Oh god dad!," Jason screams as he rushes to his dad's side.
"Dad please dad wake up...dad you need to open your eyes...Desoto, call Tadano n my other dad please" Jason manages to say choking back his tears. but Desoto was already one step ahead and was already on the phone with Haida.
"Hey Uncle Haida, it's bad Uncle Jojo was exposed to some drugs, we dont know what kind but he had a reaction to it. the ambulance is here so we don't know where they are going to take him...yeah hold on." He walks up to the Doberman and hands him the phone. The Doberman tells Haida that they will be taking Jojo to St. Mercy Hospital.
The Doberman then hands Desoto back the phone, Desoto places the phone in his pocket.
"Can we all fit in the ambulance?" Jason asks,
"Sorry son but no, this ambulance is only big for the one being transported that way we can get the person as close to the entrance as possible.
"FUCK FUCK FUCK" Jason yells as dozens of college students just stand in shock and silence, but also feel bad for what Jason is going through.
"I...I can take you," Says one of the gazelle's from earlier. Without asking questions they follow the gazelle to his car before they all get in. The gazelle introduces himself as Ben.
"Thanks alot Ben, you came in clutch." Jason says trying to calm himself.
"No...you shouldn't thank me...Oh god you're gonna probably kill me for saying this but," Ben says as he quickly glances over at Jason to only see a glare coming from Jason, then when Ben looks in the mirror he's getting glares from Casper them as well.
"I...I was one of the people that was there when...your dad had a reaction," Ben tenses up but nothing happened.
"You mean to tell me that my dad is in this situation because of you?" Jason says in a menacing tone.
"It wasn't me I promise, I was just hanging around the cafeteria because well I like to hack things and I was going to change the specials for thursday since the specials they currently have scheduled is nothing I wanna eat and I'm kinda tight on cash at the moment."
"You are going to tell us EXACTLY what happened, and if we so much feel that you are holding back any info, we won't kill you, but after we are done with you, you would wish you were." Jason says not even making eye contact to Ben but everyone in the car just shivers.
They get to the hospital and try to go see Jojo but the receptionist says that no one can see him yet. Jason looks at Ben and they all go to the cafe and get food. While getting their food Jason notices that Ben doesnt have anything in his hands.
"What you not hungry?" Jason asks his voice still stern.
"I...I am but like I said I am on a tight budget."
Jason lets out an irritated sigh, "Alright just...just fucking grab something."
Ben looks around and just grabs a bag of chips. Jason just presses his palm to his face and grabs a burger, a drink and the chips for Ben.
Once they sit down Ben explains everything to Jason them, Jason clenches his fists as he fights the urges to just beat Ben to a bloody mess. A while later Jason them go back and the receptionist says they can go see Jojo now.
Jason them along with Ben walk into Jojo's room who's laying on the bed awake but feeling groggy.
"Hey dad, how you feeling?"
"Jason...How did you guys get here?" Jojo asks weakly.
"I...I drove them here sir," Ben asks.
"Oh hey Ben, were you able to change the menu yet?" Jojo asks chuckling softly.
"You...You know who I am?" Ben asks shocked and confused at the same time.
"Of course, I do my best to learn the names and hobbies of good students." Jojo says.
Ben not holding back anymore just breaks down in tears begging for Jojo to forgive him. But Jojo chuckles and says that he doesn't hold him responsible, but he is gonna do everything he can to get that koala expelled.
"a koala? did this koala wear a green pear watch?" Casper asks.
"I...I think he did, why?" Jojo asks.
"I am suprised you only had a reaction rather than OD and possibly die from that Uncle Jojo."
Everyone looks at Casper, Jason grabs Casper by the collar of his shirt.
"Casper...Tell me everything you know, or god so help me I will beat it out of you." Jason says through clenched teeth.
Casper just grabs the back of Jason's head and presses their foreheads together. Casper then whispers.
"I know you're upset, I know you didn't mean what you just said, but the thing the koala was smoking was a drug called fentanyl, It is a very bad drug that quite a few people have a reaction or worst die from one use.
Hearing this Jason pulls his head back and looks at Ben, giving him that look that says "get over here...now"
Casper makes Jason face him as he presses his forehead to Jason again.
"Listen you are not thinking straight, if you hurt him and get arrested you won't be here for your dad, and you know damn well that you love your dad more than you hate Ben right now. Listen Ben got us here, we can deal with them later back at campus ok." Casper says.
Jason yanks himself away from Casper before walking up face to face with Ben.
"Listen well, When we get back to Campus we are going to beat the soul right out of u and your friends."
"Son...I need to tell you something, Ben...Ben came back once the 2 ran into the dorm, he called the ambulance and started CPR until they got there, he made sure I stayed awake, he even tried to call you, but didn't have your number and I couldn't tell him it so he just stayed."
Jason, with a change of expression on his face looks at Ben.
"Is...Is this true?" Jason asks tears in his eyes.
"I...I'm not a bad guy, I was just at the wrong place wrong time, I honestly didn't know the other 2 I just wanted to change the menu so I could eat. I come from a struggling household, if you ever heard the sound of cans clanking together, It was me trying to collect cans to trade in for food money." Ben says.
Jason with a change of heart now walks up to Ben and hugs him tears streaming down his eyes.
"Thank you for saving my dad, I am sorry i snapped like that, I just can't lose him, he was the first dad I ever had that loved me."
Tadano and Haida arrived at the hospital and the time is now 6:36PM. Haida runs to the room Jojo is in while Tadano brings the college students into the hall, so that Jojo and Haida can talk.
"Babe...Babe are you ok?! Listen I want you to quit, I want you to quit being a security guard. This was already a close call, the next time you might not win and I cannot risk that happening again." Haida says holding and pressing his face to Jojo's hand bawling his eyes out.
"Babe, I cannot quit, I wanna keep Jason them safe and now that I know this drug is on campus even more so I cannot quit, so how about this i will have a mask attached to my belt and if I see someone smoking anything I will put it on and confront them." Jojo says petting the top of Haida's head. In the Hall Jason them explain the situation to Tadano. Haida then comes out while a nurse goes in and gives Jojo some meds and checking his vitals.
"Hey Haida, Ben here wasn't directly involved in the situation, he was just collecting cans to trade in for food money and just so happened to be at the wrong place wrong time scenario." Tadano says.
"Really? You know if you come from a low income househould you qualify for food assistance right." Haida says looking at Ben with a confused look.
"N...No I didn't know that, how do I apply for it?" Ben asks. Haida hands Ben his phone with the notes open, "I just need first and last name, social and if you are working at all email me a pic of it or are you a full time student?" Haida asks.
"I'm a full time student sir," Ben asks.
"Oh if you are a full time student it makes it so much easier," Haida opens an app on his phone and begins to type something in it. "Ok ummmm what dorm room are you in and can you verify the last four of your social?" Haida asks.
Ben and Haida go around the corner, the moment they turn the corner the nurse comes out. Jason them rush toward her almost knocking her over.
"Is my dad ok? Anything seriously wrong?!" Jason asks with worry in his voice.
"He is doing ok, depending on when we are able to get the result of the urine, blood, and last set of vitals he may be able to go home today." The nurse says as she makes her way around the group. Jason with a sigh relief almost collapses from holding all that worry in, luckily Desoto and Rosco catch him by the arms.
Haida comes back around the corner with Ben and Casper walks up to them and tells them the update about Jojo. Haida with tears in his eyes hugs Casper tightly as he whispers," I was worried I was going to lose my husband, Casper." Casper returns the hug and just comforts Haida. Several minutes later Casper breaks the hug from Haida and the gang go back to the waiting room.
Tadano looks at the clock ad notices its 8:15pm, "Looks like visiting hours is almost done, we should probably head back, Jason Haida will bring you guys back to the campus, I am going to wait for Jojo and see if he is able to get discharged today," The doors swing open as the nurse is pushing Jojo in a wheelchair and tells the gang that he is ok to go home and gave them a summary of his time spent in the hospital. Plans change and Tadano is willing to drop Jason them back off at campus, but Ben insists that he drives them back since he has to go back as well and that they should all go home.
Tadano them agree as the gang begin to make their exit out of the hospital, Jason them hop into Ben's car, while Tadano helps Jojo into the back and Haida starts the car. The car ride back to the campus is quiet and akward, but then Ben finally speaks up,"I...I want to apologize I didn't know what the two were doing and let alone I didn't know Jojo was Jason's dad."
"Jojo and Haida are both my dads, Tadano is my uncle, and Desoto them are my best friends, I know when push comes to shove all three of them will come in clutch."
"Wow, two dads! that must be interesting, have you ever gotten teased about it?"
"I did at first but then when I made friends with Desoto and Rosco first, things started to become a bit easier, I met Casper later on in life and he's been with us since...I forget maybe a year ish, give or take a couple months" Jason says putting his hand on his chin.
"Damn, that must be cool, I got alot of friends too, like 20 of them," Ben says keeping his eyes on the road but Casper knows he's lying.
