Chapter Thirteen
Breaking Dawn 8-12
"Preface," Rosalie read, furrowing her eyebrows. "Why is there a preface here?"
"I'm sure we'll find out," Emmett said, looking a little amused.
"What are you thinking?" Rosalie asked.
"I'm sure you'll find out," Emmett repeated.
Mentions yeah, I should be so lucky:
"That doesn't sound like Bella at all," Rosalie groaned.
"Nope," Emmett smirked. "Still happy that you're reading, babe?"
"Shut up," Rosalie glared at him and then read, "Waiting for the Damn Fight to Start Already."
Jacob says, Jeez, Paul, don't you freaking have a home of your own:
"So, are you going to read through your teeth the whole time?" Emmett asked innocently.
All he got was another glare from his loving wife.
Paul says your sister said to help myself to anything I wanted:
"This is such a stupid chapter," Rosalie hissed. "We want to know what's happening to Bella."
"You've got her protected, I'm sure," Edward said evenly. "She's got to be okay …."
"Yeah, the pup is sure to find that out soon enough," Emmett said.
Another glare.
"Well, I'm certainly liking this chapter already," Emmett chuckled.
"I still don't understand why the hell this has to be in the mutt's point of view," Rosalie hissed.
"Perhaps there's a bigger reason for that," Emmett smirked at her.
"Like what?" Rosalie asked, annoyed.
"I don't know," Emmett shrugged, "but it would have been boring reading from Bella's point of view if all she was going to do was sit around."
"That's not a bigger reason," Rosalie rolled her eyes.
Jacob says, like you wouldn't go crying to her first chance:
"I would hope that wasn't true," Emmett said. "Hiding behind a woman … that's just wrong."
"And that's sexist," Alice scolded.
"Sorry, I meant to say that hiding behind anyone in your fights is just wrong," Emmett said, truly meaning that.
"That's better," Alice smiled.
Mentions Paul's nose made a crunching sound when Jacob's fist connected:
"They're so breakable," Emmett said, shaking his head.
"And stupid," Jasper added. "Imagine dropping your guard at a time like that. He should have known better."
Jacob thinks did it have to be my sister, did it have to be Paul:
"That's got to be rough," Emmett said. "And when you imagine that he knows what Paul is thinking … I wouldn't want to be in his shoes right now."
Jacob thinks the wait is driving me insane, it's been almost four weeks:
"Four weeks?" Rosalie asked, really annoyed. "It was seventeen days … that means more than a week has gone by …."
"Don't worry babe … we're going to find out soon," Emmett said, trying to calm her down, but it was more likely Jasper's effect which helped with that.
Jacob thinks a plane crash, that would be hard to fake, unless they don't care about killing bystanders and why would they:
"He should have a better understanding of us than that," Alice hissed.
"It's just a thought in his despair … of course it's going to be like that," Jasper said.
"And much worse, I'm sure," Emmett said cheerfully. "This should make for entertaining reading."
Jacob thinks I hope he comes back here, within my reach:
"Hm … I sense a fight coming," Emmett smiled.
"He's not going to get one out of me," Edward said. "I won't have the energy or the will to fight."
Jacob thinks we could kill every one of them that we could find:
"You could try … but that would only result in you and your brother di … getting hurt," Emmett said, amending what he was going to say because Esme was looking at him sharply.
Jacob thinks Bella is either coming back as one of them or not at all, and that meant human life was lost and that meant game on:
"Why does he have to look for a fight so much?" Esme sighed.
"Because he's hurt …." Carlisle said, wrapping his arms around her.
"And because it's fun," Emmett added unhelpfully. "I know you don't like that, but we know the wolves enjoy the fighting as much as I do."
"It's just wrong," Esme frowned miserably.
Jacob muses that there were a million voice in the wind that I couldn't hear in this body:
"Turn back into the mutt and never return, for all I care," Rosalie hissed.
"Then we would have to read about that," Emmett said.
"No, then the story could go back to being relevant," Rosalie replied.
Quil says keep out of the water Claire:
Rosalie shivered at that. It was bad enough when they were just talking about the stupid imprinting thing before, but this was so much worse. This relationship had to be the most disgusting and disturbing relationship of them all … She was only a baby for crying out loud! She shouldn't already be spoken for.
Jacob thinks that no matter what stage imprinted people were in they were downright puke-inducing:
Rosalie nodded her head in agreement but was sickened by the fact that she was agreeing with the mutt at all.
Jacob describing how Quil is with Claire ending with play peekaboo for hour straight without getting bored:
"He's trying to say that imprinting is stronger than a parent's love, too," Rosalie hissed.
"Maybe … and it seems that this is being mentioned a lot …." Emmett started.
"The mutt obviously doesn't know what he's talking about," Edward hissed, not wanting to hear whatever it was that Emmett was going to say. "None of what he's been saying has been very accurate."
Jacob thinks I couldn't make fun of Quil for it, I envied him too much:
Edward and Rosalie hissed at that.
"He wants his own b …." Emmett started and was quickly smacked by the two vampires. Luckily enough, they smacked him from opposite angles, so he didn't go flying anywhere, because neither smack was weak. "Okay, I get it," he pouted as he rubbed his head.
Jacob thinks Quil was worse than any paranoid overprotective mother:
"But not worse than Eddy," Emmett laughed. Jasper and Alice snorted at that.
Jacob says that Claire would understand when she grew up if Quil had a life while she was in diapers:
"I'm not so sure about that," Esme said. "Especially if the imprint works like they say it does. Of course, if it is, he would never want to be with anyone else …."
"Could we please stop talking about imprinting, please," Edward said as calmly as possible, but it still came off as being strained. He was really getting a bad feeling about this.
"Right … sorry," Esme sighed.
Quil asks if Jacob thinks about dating:
"Yeah, go on a stupid date with anyone and get out of our hair," Rosalie said.
Jacob says I don't see them either:
"Because you're not freaking looking," Rosalie hissed.
"He just likes to stay miserable, I guess," Alice said.
"Well, that's fine as long as he stays miserable away from us," Rosalie said.
"That isn't very nice to say," Esme scolded.
"He caused a lot of unnecessary pain in the last book," Rosalie used as her defense, but didn't say any more on this subject.
Jacob thinks that the testing they did to make sure you weren't on steroids would probably turn up something crap in his blood:
"I wonder if that's true," Carlisle said. "It makes sense that there would be something different there, but then again, I'm not sure it would show up in a steroid test."
Jacob thinks I don't know why Seth was already here and in the know:
"Well, then I would think Seth is the reason for this meeting," Carlisle said. "It would stand to reason that this means that they are going to become aware of the situation soon."
"Great," Rosalie said, both annoyed and hopeful that she would get some information soon.
Jacob thinks that he never expected Bella to return for the trip alive and that it should matter because he knew what was coming next:
"But it does matter," Esme said.
"And you have no idea what's coming next," Emmett chuckled.
"Still … why did we call Charlie? That doesn't make sense," Jasper said. This wasn't a situation that should be brought to Charlie's attention.
Mentions Charlie's been stewing for days, and he said Bella sounded worse today:
"What is going on?" Carlisle frowned.
"She's pregnant," Emmett smiled.
Carlisle rolled his eyes. "I meant why are we doing this? It doesn't make sense to worry Charlie like this."
"We might not be the ones doing this," Edward offered.
"You think that Bella wanted us to call him," Carlisle said. That did make more sense than anything else. "But doesn't she realize that it would hurt him more in the end?"
"I doubt it," Edward said.
Sam asks Jacob if he was sure this is what he wanted, is it the right thing, and mentions that we all know what she wanted:
Esme let out a breath. They weren't going to attack, not with Sam against it.
Seth thinks they aren't our enemies:
"No, we really aren't," Carlisle agreed.
Seth asks what are you going to do with Bella fights with them:
"Ah, the cub's a smart one," Emmett said. "And Bella would fight with us."
"She would try to stop the fight, more like it," Edward said. He didn't like that thought.
Seth continues to ask you going to be the one to take her down. No, you gonna make one of us do it, and then hold a grudge forever:
"Yes … that is what would happen," Emmett said. "Well, this is all settled then."
Mentions that Jacob's instinct took over and he crouched and snarled at the sand-colored wolf:
"Hey, don't take your anger out on the cub," Emmett hissed. "Just because he's right, annoyingly so, that doesn't mean you should attack him."
"You really should take your own advice in the future," Jasper smirked.
Sam tells Jacob that he honestly doesn't believe the Cullens are a danger to us, and once they tell the story they will leave:
"Well, that's certainly nice to hear," Carlisle said, talking about the fact that Sam believed that his family wasn't a danger to them.
Sam thinks Bella Swan made an informed choice and we are not going to punish our allies for her choice:
"Well, that's one problem down," Emmett said. "I wonder what they would do when they find out about the baby though."
"I don't know," Esme said, suddenly worried.
"You couldn't keep your mouth shut for one second," Jasper sighed and sent a calming wave over to Esme.
"Nope," Emmett shrugged.
Jacob says apparently there was no purpose in me sticking around this long:
"What a baby," Emmett said. "He doesn't get what he wants and now he's just going to run away."
"Again … you're one to talk," Jasper chuckled.
"I wouldn't run away," Emmett pouted.
Jacob says then force me to stay, Sam, take away my will:
"That doesn't seem fair," Esme said, "that the Alpha could have that kind of power over them."
"It's the only way that a pack like this could work. Someone has to be in charge," Carlisle said. "One would just have to hope that the Alpha wouldn't abuse the power."
Jacob thinks, it was too late for Sam to stop me, he couldn't hear me now:
"Oh, so he's going to come on his own," Emmett said. "Well, good luck with that."
"He's not going to like what he sees," Jasper said. "Not at all."
"And we're not going to like what he thinks … not at all," Rosalie hissed. "How do you stand hearing things like this?"
"It's not easy," Edward said.
O
Sure as Hell Didn't See That One Coming
Mentions Jacob being forced to phase so Sam could lay down the law:
"So does that mean that he could only give an order like that as a wolf," Carlisle mused.
Mention Billy expecting Jacob, knowing his son would be in some kind of state:
"Well of course he knew that," Esme said. "After what he had heard, he would be worried about what you're going through."
Mentions Jacob grabbing the phone and disconnecting the cable for the box and jack:
"Well, that was dramatic," Emmett said.
"He was making sure that Billy couldn't tell on him," Jasper said. "You would have done the same thing."
"Probably," Emmett shrugged.
Jacob thinks I will run as fast as I can and if they caught me, I'll deal with it:
"He is certainly determined to get to us," Emmett said. "The poor kid has no idea what he's getting himself into."
"And what might that be?" Alice asked. "You don't know any … only a little better than he does about what is coming."
"Yeah, well the little that I do know, is saying that things are going to only get worse for him," Emmett said. "And I'm sure we're going to be in some kind of a state, too."
Mentions it wasn't until Jacob was sure he made it, that he thought about what he was going to do:
"Oh dear," Esme sighed and leaned into Carlisle.
"Does he really think that he's going to get what he wants," Emmett scoffed.
"It doesn't really matter," Esme sighed, "thinking it is bad enough."
Jacob thinks that Edward would want to fight him alone:
"Ha, why would he want to do that?" Emmett snorted.
"Yeah, I think that he has Edward and Emmett confused there," Jasper smirked.
Edward didn't say anything, but the mutt was right in a way, he would meet him in a fight … he just wouldn't be doing any actual fighting.
"He really should have tried to learn his enemy better than this though," Jasper said. "It's rather disappointing that he doesn't understand you at all. I could see you going out there to fight him, for more than one reason mind you, but not one of them would be your ego."
Jacob thinks when I finish with him, I'll take as many of the rest of them as I could:
"Does he really think that he could handle you?" Emmett asked.
"Apparently he does," Edward said.
Jacob wonders if Sam would consider his death a provocation or that he deserved it:
"No, this would definitely provoke the fight," Carlisle said. "He doesn't even seem to realize his own side's mind."
Mentions reeking vampires once he gets to the house:
"Yeah, you think our smell is bad …." Rosalie said. "Argh, did he really have to come here?"
"You did want to know what was going on with Bella," Carlisle pointed out. "This is the only way that we're going to find out."
"Not the only way … the story could go back to Bella's point of view," Rosalie muttered, but otherwise let the matter drop.
Mentions that Jacob heard his name, and he was happy to cause them a little stress:
"Idiot … we do not need this," Rosalie hissed. "Bella doesn't need this. It's got to be hard enough on her already."
Jacob thinks Carlisle was so just human or something:
"Ah … it looks like he likes you," Esme smiled, though she was still unnerved at what Jacob had planned against her family.
"Who doesn't like Carlisle?" Emmett said.
Bella asks Jacob to come in and Carlisle's eyes tightened:
"Why?" Emmett asked.
"I'm not sure how he's going to react to this?" Carlisle said questioningly. "Or maybe I think this would only add to Bella's stress and that can't be good."
Jacob thinks that he would stay away from Carlisle when the fight started, and there would be enough of them to kill:
"If he was trying to do me a favor, he should have gone for me," Carlisle said, he wouldn't want to lose any of his children or wife.
"No, it's better this way," Edward said, getting a hailstorm of thoughts on this matter. "It would devastate us all if you were gone."
Everyone nodded their heads.
"It would devastate us all if any of us were lost," Carlisle argued, but let the matter drop. Esme was shivering in his arms, and he knew that she couldn't take them talking about this.
Jacob thinks it was Edward, the expression on his face:
Esme moaned at that and leaned closer to Carlisle … she did not want to hear this.
Mentions that Edwad was beyond agony, had an expression like someone lite him on fire:
"Oh Edward," Esme moaned and started to sob, in her vampire way.
The Edward in the room froze at this; Bella must be in bad shape if his book self was like that.
"Even the pup could see that," Emmett said sounding worried, too.
The description of Bella ending with there was something about her fingers and wrists that looked so fragile it was scary:
Emmett read this as fast as he could but that didn't really matter, the effect it had was immediate. Edward froze again, his agony was much stronger now … though it wasn't as strong as it was in the book. Esme started sobbing harder, worried about both Edward and Bella. And Rosalie seemed to be repeating out loud, "it's going to be okay; she's going to be okay."
Mentions of Rosalie hovering in a strange protective way:
"I don't think he's going to attack her," Carlisle said. "I don't think he can."
"Better safe than sorry," Rosalie said. "And I won't trust him with anything."
Jacob thinks I knew Bella didn't like Rosalie:
"Hey," Rosalie said.
"I wouldn't say dislike," Alice said. "It was more like Bella is afraid of you."
"Hey," Rosalie repeated.
"You know that you two didn't get along … I'm sure that would be different when you meet her in this reality," Alice said, not adding that it was because Rosalie would be nicer this time around, but they all knew that's what she was thinking.
Mentions of Rosalie warning Edward to keep back from Bella:
"Sorry," Rosalie said.
Edward didn't say anything, he couldn't, not until he knew what was going to come. He didn't know if he should be angry or glad that Rosalie was doing that.
Bella says help me Rose:
"That might not be a good idea," Carlisle said warily.
"Yeah, why don't you just say your pregnant?" Emmett said. "That's got to be a lot easier than standing up."
Jacob thinks that Rosalie glared at him like she wanted to rip his throat out:
"Probably," Rosalie agreed, "it would be hard to think of a time where that isn't true though."
Description of how Bella looks ending with the rest of her looked thinner, like the bulge grown from what it had sucked it from her:
Everyone shivered at the image that made.
"This can't be good," Edward moaned miserably and he looked worse than he had at any point reading these books.
"You don't know that yet," Carlisle said in a voice that wasn't quite as convincing as normal, but still firm. "I truly can't see things ending badly," he added softly, but his voice was firmer.
"It's taking everything she has," Edward said.
"It will work out Edward," Rosalie said. "It has to."
Edward glared at her, she would do anything to make sure something like this happened, however he could hear genuine concern for Bella in her thoughts.
"Carlisle has to be right …." Alice said, in a voice trying to convince herself more than anyone else. At this moment she was really wishing she could have one of her visions to see that this was in fact true.
"Hey … you think you would have had one by now, wouldn't you?" Edward said, looking at Alice.
"What?" Alice said.
"In the book … you would think that you would have had a vision by now," Edward said and then he shivered even harder than before. If that was true, it could only mean something bad judging by his reaction.
"I'm not sure," Alice said. "I've never seen a birth before … I don't know if it's a decision or not …."
"Hm … I would think that you would have seen when Bella made her decision to get Rosalie's protection," Jasper frowned. "I'm not sure what you would have done there … do you think you would have warned Edward?"
Alice looked at him thoughtfully and so was Edward. "Probably," she answered, she would want Bella to be safe first.
"Then how did things come to this?" Jasper asked.
"It's possible that I can't see the baby," Alice said.
"Right," Edward said, hoping that was the case. Then he thought of how Bella was looking, and he dropped his head again.
Jacob thinks it was a monster, just like its father:
"You don't know that," Rosalie hissed at the book, and looked at Edward, "you don't either."
"No, I don't," Edward agreed, conflict clear in his eyes.
Jacob thinks he always knew Edward would kill her.
"He's not killing her," Rosalie snapped.
Jacob thinks I didn't want to kill girls, even vampire girls:
"Gee, thanks," Alice rolled her eyes, though her eyes, and everyone else was on Esme …
Jacob adds though he might make an exception for that blonde.
Emmett snorted.
"Do you really think you should be snorting when someone is talking about attacking your mate?" Jasper questioned; he was a little tense from the earlier mention of himself.
"It's not like he's going to actually get that far," Emmett said, his tone was lighthearted, but his eyes weren't. He would do anything to protect his mate just like anyone else would.
Jacob thinks that separating Edward from the coven hadn't been difficult:
"Coven … we're not witches," Emmett laughed.
"We have a family, you stupid mutt," Rosalie hissed.
Edward says yes, it's killing her:
"You don't know that …." Rosalie tried to say again.
"I think I do," Edward voice was hollow.
"It's not going to kill her," Rosalie said. "We'll think of something."
Jacob thinks die for the monster spawn, it was so Bella:
Rosalie growled at that, really upset this time. Though that had more to do with the fact that she was thinking the same things, with nicer words of course. Bella was willing to do whatever it took to have Edward's baby … A thought that was really sinking into her right now, her appreciation for Bella becoming a lot stronger.
Edward says I thought she was frightened, that would be natural:
"So how could you think Bella would be thinking that?" Emmett chuckled.
"When has she ever done the natural thing?" Jasper added.
Edward adds, I thought she was angry with me for putting her through this,
"Now that one is just crazy," Alice rolled her eyes. "When has she ever been angry at you?"
"Er …." Edward said.
Edward says yet you understand after one second:
"Yeah … well, he also has this whole situation in front of him," Jasper said, looking at Edward oddly. "I'm pretty sure anyone could have figured out want she was feeling at this point."
Jacob says how stupid are you vamps, just hold her down and knock her out with drugs:
"That's just wrong," Rosalie looked appalled.
Edward says I wanted to, Carlisle would have …:
"No, you would not have," Rosalie said.
"I think you're what's stopping us," Edward said to her.
"I would hope it's more than that," Esme said softly.
"Do you really think you could do something like that and get away with it?" Rosalie said. "She would have to live with that for the rest of her life … however long that was."
"It's an indescribable loss," Esme said looking beyond tears (not that she isn't always, but it was much worse this time). "Something she would never heal from."
"Especially if you take it from her like that," Rosalie said. "That would be worse than what happened to me. The betrayal would be deeper."
Edward's eyes widened and then looked down. "This is a moot point," he finally said. "If this ends badly, I will never let it happen in the first place and if everything works out, I will never think of doing something like that."
Jacob says you should have left Bella with me, and Edward agrees:
"No, you idiot … She's not something that you could just pass off," Alice said sharply.
Edward asks Jacob to talk to Bella and ends with she might listen to you:
"There's only one flaw in your logic," Jasper said.
"Only one?" Alice said. "I see a lot more …."
"Fine, there are many flaws in your logic," Jasper said. "And the biggest being that she never really listens to him … especially not when she's being stubborn like this."
"Besides, her mind is already made up, and she doesn't change her thoughts after that happens, no matter what anyone else says," Alice added.
Edward says you can offer her what she wants:
"And just what are you getting at?" Rosalie asked, narrowing her eyes at Edward.
Edward shrugged but looked apprehensive.
Edward says she can have puppies if that's what it takes:
"That is just disgusting," Rosalie said.
"You can't just pass her off," Alice repeated, making a face.
"How could you even think of that?" Rosalie asked.
"It would keep her safe," Edward said and everyone was shaking their heads at him.
"Even I know that's never going to work," Emmett said.
Mentions Rosalie's is always there protecting Bella no protecting it, Bella's life means nothing to her:
"That's not true," Rosalie said.
"In the book," Edward said.
"I have come to like her, I know I have," Rosalie said, her expression was grave. "But yes … in the book the baby is much more my concern …." she added sadly, though that wasn't true now.
Jacob thoughts on Bella pregnant with his baby:
"You really shouldn't have come to him with this," Esme said. "It's just going to hurt him more."
"Are you kidding me, this is the only good part of Edward telling him this ridiculous idea," Rosalie smirked.
Edward says but it is stronger than Bella is already:
"It was probably stronger than she was when it was conceived," Emmett laughed.
"It could have been," Carlisle said thoughtfully.
Edward says the moment Bella's heart stops beating, I'll be begging you to kill me:
"Edward!" Alice and Esme said miserably.
O
Why Didn't I Just Walk Away? Oh Right, Because I'm an Idiot
"He certainly has interesting chapter titles," Emmett chuckled.
Mention that Bella's face was grayish pale and stress makes her feel worse:
"Then get the hell out of there, mutt," Rosalie hissed. She hated that she actually had to hope the mutt would stay there because that was the only way that she could know what was happening to Bella.
Edward says we are going to let Jacob and Bella speak privately:
"Do you honestly think that I'm going to do that?" Rosalie hissed.
"Yes," Edward said.
Jacob thinks she was totally born in the wrong century:
Edward smiled at that and thought of the vision she'd had in the last book.
Mentions of Edward being close to the burning man that Jacob saw outside and now his family was seeing that too:
Esme shivered at that, and everyone looked sadly at Edward.
"That must have done it," Rosalie said. She knew that even in her obsession to protect the baby, that she wouldn't like seeing her brother like that.
Jacob says I'm not going to lie, you are hideous:
Rosalie hissed at that.
"It's the way they are," Esme said, looking a little displeased by the comment too.
Bella says it's nice to smile, I don't know how much more drama I can stand:
"It seems like you're failing in your duties, Em," Jasper said. "You're supposed to be our comic relief."
"Sorry," Emmett said, but he was worried about how bad things were for his book-self, not to at least try and break the tension.
Bella says it will all work out, I believe that:
"Wow, she sounds like you," Emmett gestured to Rosalie.
"I always knew she was smart," Rosalie said.
Bella says how could I live through all I have live through without believing in magic:
"Magic?" several people asked.
"A miracle," Carlisle offered, "something that is beyond belief but is still possible."
"Basically, she's saying what you did, Carlisle," Alice point out to him, "when you were convincing Edward to continue reading."
"Yes, I noticed that," Carlisle smiled. "I really think I'm going to like getting to know her."
Jacob says what are you babbling about:
"Your imprint, obviously," Emmett rolled his eyes.
"Not all the wolves imprint," Edward snapped.
"I thought you would want him to imprint on someone else," Emmett looked at him questioningly.
"Yes," Edward said. His voice was even, but Jasper was looking at him warily, not sure what he was feeling there.
Jacob explains that none of this made sense, and ending with show me Bella, because I don't see it:
"He does have a point there," Emmett said.
"No, he doesn't," Rosalie snapped at him. "The point of all this was to fall in love, have this baby, and live happily ever after."
"But if she dies …." Emmett started.
"She's not going to die," Rosalie said firmly.
"Fine, but I still don't see how the imprinting thing would make it okay for him in the end," Emmett said stubbornly.
"Like I care about that," Rosalie rolled her eyes; however, a thought hit her like a ton of bricks, something that would make her want to care about this whole stupid thing. She recoiled from that thought, but couldn't help looking at Edward, who was pinching his nose and looking much like she felt … but not like her thought was new to him. That just made her feel worse about this.
Jacob thinks she was dying for it:
"No … she's going through this struggle for the baby," Rosalie growled, even angrier at the mutt now with that new thought in her head. "She is not dying!"
Bella says I'll keep my heart beating, I'm strong enough for that:
"Ah, that make sense," Carlisle said. "She's going to become a vampire after the labor … I wonder how the baby would be born though …."
Edward looked at Carlisle as he mused on the ways that birth could work out, but Esme thought it was best to just keep reading.
Jacob thinks that everything about Bella screamed breakable:
"Yes, she is breakable … her body, at least, but Bella is strong in other ways," Jasper said. "If anyone could do this, it's Bella."
Bella says did you know that Esme jumped off a cliff when she was human:
"Hey … you shouldn't be telling family secrets like that," Emmett said.
"It's okay," Esme said.
Jacob says so:
"Jerk," Rosalie hissed, along with Alice and Emmett this time.
Jacob says emergency vampirization:
"I like that," Emmett laughed. "I supposed we all were Emergency vampirized."
"No, only the ones that Carlisle made," Jasper corrected.
"It sounds like Alice might have been too … er … sort of," Emmett pointed out thinking about what was mentioned int the first book but even he looked like he wished he kept his mouth shut as Jasper glared at him for mentioning that.
Jacob thinks I realized I needed her to stay alive, in any form:
"And that's why you came here to attack at the beginning of the last chapter?" Alice rolled his eyes.
"He seems to be as conflicted about this as Edward is," Jasper chuckled.
Jacob asks you want Edward to go back to those Italian killers:
"I won't need to," Edward said.
"Edward!" Esme and Alice hissed at him thinking about what he had asked Jacob to do at the end of the last chapter.
"I meant there will be no need for me to do that," Edward said.
Bella says as she touches her stomach, it's not the right thing, I won't kill him:
"Hah … see, it's a boy," Emmett cheered. Rosalie and Edward looked hopeful.
"We don't know that yet," Jasper smirked back at him, but he noticed the change that went through Edward and Rosalie, their feelings matching exactly. "It could be just her wishful thinking."
Bella's face turns pink:
"Ah … so she doesn't know then," Emmett sighed. "Hey, Eddy, do you want a boy or girl?"
"Boy," Edward answered immediately, but if he was honest with himself, a big part of him wanted a girl … one that looked exactly like Bella.
"Oh," Emmett smirked evilly at him, "I suppose you don't want to have to kill all the boys that fall in love with her then."
"Yeah," Edward agreed, knowing that he would likely feel that way about anyone who liked his little girl … that is, if he ever had one.
Jacob says it's not a pretty baby in there:
"That's where I disagree with you," Alice said. "I think that whatever is in there, it would be beautiful."
"Er … what?" Edward asked.
"Well, even if it is some kind of monster like he fears, I would think that with a vampire as a parent it would be beautiful at least," Alice explained.
"Great," Edward muttered. That really wasn't something that he wanted to hear.
Jacob thinks that he's close to making the offer that Edward wanted him to, and he couldn't change their direction:
"Because you're just as much of an idiot as Edward is," Alice said. "Trying to save her from things all the time …."
"Things that aren't really going to hurt her," Rosalie added.
Bella says, it's not having a baby, it's well this baby:
Rosalie, Esme, and Alice all smiled at that.
"But didn't she think about having Jacob's babies?" Emmett pointed out. "Isn't that why Eddy was all frozen in the last book?"
"You just had to ruin the moment, didn't you?" Rosalie growled at him.
"Sorry," Emmett said immediately.
Jacob says this didn't work out, try again:
"She's already bonded with the baby," Rosalie said. "A fix like this would never work."
"It would never be that easy," Esme said. "You don't understand but losing a child at any point …." she trailed off and leaned into Carlisle again.
Bella says I don't understand, I'm sure any baby:
Emmett chuckled and several other people rolled their eyes. "That's not exactly what he meant."
Bella says generic substitute, artificial insemination:
Emmett was really laughing now.
"That's not what he meant either," Jasper said, laughing this time, too.
Bella continues and says any baby will do:
"Well, that's how it works if you adopt a child," Esme said, "but you have to want to do that."
"But Bella only wants to have Edward's child," Alice said. "So that wouldn't really work for her."
Jacob thinks he was surprised that Bella made the leap so quick:
"I'm not … she always gets Edward's motives quickly," Jasper chuckled.
Jacob says Edward didn't say anything about artificial whatever:
"Why is he protecting you?" Emmett asked.
"Who knows?" Alice shrugged.
"It's probably got something to do with him not wanting to seem like he would do anything that Edward asked him to do," Jasper chuckled.
Jacob wonders if the Cullens are listening to his pathetic attempts to reason with Bella:
"Hm … somehow I don't think we are," Carlisle said.
"Yeah, I don't think I could stand listening to this without shouting at someone," Rosalie said, not sure if she would rush in to shout at the mutt or just yell at Edward for even suggesting this ridiculous idea.
After realizing what Jacob is saying Bella says, Edward would really do anything, wouldn't he:
"She's not horrified by the suggestion that she should be shared?" Alice made a face.
"That's not …." Edward said, growling at her, but the split second after he said anything, he heard that she had only wanted to snap him out of his frozen state. Alice was now smirking at him.
Bella pleads don't go:
Rosalie frowned at that, "He doesn't belong here."
Jacob thinks I could feel the addiction, trying to keep me near Bella:
Edward didn't seem to like that sentence one bit.
What's wrong? Alice thought towards Edward. Why do you keep tensing up at random sentences?
Edward shook his head, so only she could get meaning out of it. He wasn't going to tell her the answer to that. Alice frowned, knowing that whatever it was that Edward was thinking, it wasn't good.
Jacob thinks about what the pack would think that he hadn't phased before, would they think the Cullens got him before he had a chance:
Jasper rolled his eyes, "I think that they understand us well enough to know that we wouldn't just attack him like that."
Sam furiously Alpha orders come home now:
"Well, duh," Emmett said. "I would hate it if one of my minions went against my orders like that."
"That's a scary thought … Em with minions," Jasper chuckled.
The wolves seeing Jacob's thoughts ending with Rosalie crouched, and Bella's life means nothing to her:
Rosalie hissed at that, and Jasper sent calming waves to her. He was working overtime in this book.
Mentions that the babble in Jacob's head was total chaos, everyone was shouting:
"Er … it doesn't look like they're going to take this news well," Emmett said, not sure if he should be smiling or not … that depended on how bad they took it.
Thoughts we can't allow it:
"This is bad," Alice was the one to say.
"They're going to react rashly to this," Carlisle said.
Mentions that the pack was synchronizing all expect for Jacob and one other, but Jacob was too dazed to see who it was:
"I think I know which brother it would be," Emmett said.
"Seth … he's the only one who seems to really trust us," Jasper said.
"Hey," Emmett pouted. "I wanted to say that."
"Sorry," Jasper chuckled, but his laughter died quickly as the room tensed.
Mentions that the pictures in the center were my picture, the very worst of them:
"Couldn't you have controlled your stupid thoughts for one minute?" Rosalie hissed. "We should have realized this was the way the other wolves were going to react to this and never have let the mutt leave."
Thoughts they fear it too:
"Argh … you just had to believe that the baby would be dangerous," Rosalie growled.
"I'm sor …." Edward started, but then stopped. "I wonder if that's what I'm thinking."
"You want to get rid of the baby …." Rosalie started.
"But I'm not sure if I'm really thinking about the baby at all," Edward said. "I'm thinking about it killing Bella." It was hard for him to say the last things. "Then again … I'm sure I have convinced myself by now that it has to be a monster if it was doing this to Bella."
Thoughts we have to kill it before it's too late:
"They do realize that if they do that, it will likely kill Bella," Alice said harshly.
Sam thinks we'll need surprise on our side:
"You won't get that with Edward on our side," Emmett said.
"Not as much … but it would still be a surprise," Jasper said. "This wouldn't be good."
Sam explains remember the newborn vampires, wild, violent, beyond reason, and one protected by the Cullens:
"I can see why that thought would scare him," Carlisle said.
"It's not what is going to happen," Rosalie said, but she wasn't as convinced about that as she was about Bella making it out of the pregnancy okay.
"We really don't know that," Carlisle reminded her. "I believe that we would be able to teach the child in time … but I'm not sure what would happen when the baby is born."
"We'll make sure that nothing bad happens," Rosalie said, convinced this time. "I think that eight vampires could handle one baby."
"True," Carlisle agreed.
Sam continues this thing cannot be trusted:
"At least you should wait and see if that's true or not, you freaking idiot," Rosalie growled.
Sam thinks Bella's sacrifice is a heavy price, and we will all recognize that:
"Her sacrifice?" Rosalie hissed. "It's not her sacrifice if you're going to kill her like this … it's yours!"
Sam thinks to Seth we can't afford your tolerance for the Cullens, there's no time for debate:
"You have plenty of time to debate … it's not like we have any idea that you would do something like this," Jasper said. "The surprise attack will be just as much of a surprise tomorrow as it is tonight."
Sam thinks to Jacob you don't have to be involved with the other part:
"That is his best option, isn't it?" Jasper said. "There is no way that they could hope to succeed without the pup on their side … and there is no way that he would be able to attack Bella … even get close to her. However, he would fight hard to protect his brothers … he would have to fight all out against us."
"Well, it's not like we're going to have any trouble," Emmett said, but he was looking at Rosalie. "But the other wolves might pose a threat to you."
"There is no way that I would let anything happen to Bella or the baby," Rosalie said.
"That's what I'm afraid of," Emmett said, softly. "And I wouldn't let anything happen to you," he then added, "so things wouldn't likely go as they're planning."
Sam continues to map out the fight ending with destroying the creature is our first priority:
"Okay, that's all nice and good, but that's not how it would work out," Emmett said. "We're going to …."
"Don't," Esme said. She looked like a wreck, and she couldn't take hearing about this anymore.
Mentions that Seth thinks of this as a betrayal and that he had become Edward's friend after they fought together:
"The poor boy," Esme said. "They shouldn't make him fight … not when he feels like this."
Mentions that Sam would take on Edward as he was the greatest threat:
"And they would know how you would fight," Jasper said, thinking about his training session and the fight that Seth was there for, that they were all sure to know about now.
Mentions that Sam saw Jasper as the second greatest opponent:
"Hey … that's just not true," Emmett pouted.
"Sorry, bro," Jasper smirked.
Mentions of little Alice was no danger without her visions to guide her:
"That's what you think," Alice and Emmett both said, but Jasper looked at her worried.
"I would hope they had realized that you wouldn't be that far away from me in a fight," Alice said, shaking her head at him.
"It doesn't look like it," Jasper said.
Jacob thinks that killing Carlisle was murder:
Everyone seemed to appreciate this sentence (even Rosalie, though of course she never would have admitted it) but couldn't really say anything about it.
Jacob thinks that why we would be able to kill Carlisle, because he wouldn't want his enemy to die:
"That is true," Carlisle sighed.
"Not the killing you part, though," Emmett said. "We wouldn't let that happen."
"This will be a close fight," Jasper said, which made everyone shudder. "They don't totally understand how we're going to put up our defense … but there are lots of ways that they could work through that …." he stopped there, feeling the increased worry that everyone was feeling.
Mentions that no member of the pack could refuse the Alpha:
"I really hate that," Esme said. "I don't care what you say Carlisle … it's wrong that they would have to be forced to do something like this against their will."
"Yes, I agree with you," Carlisle said.
"That's the end of the chapter," Esme said and Jasper took the book.
O
The Two Things at the Very Top of my Things-I-Never-Want-To-Do List
Mentions Sam pleading Jacob to get over this and be done with it:
"It's not that easy when you know you're being forced to do the wrong thing," Alice said.
Mentions the wolves being afraid, not for self, but for the whole, can't imagine they would all make it:
"No …." Jasper sighed but stopped himself from saying any more than that. The same would be true for them.
Mentions which brother will we lose, when grieving families will we be consoling:
"Think about those things and stop this now," Esme pleaded, knowing it was useless.
Jacob thinks enough that all the other Cullen look to Jasper for guidance:
"That doesn't make him the better fighter," Emmett pouted.
"Let's face it … it does," Jasper said, trying to absorb Emmett's feelings toward the fight, and not the rest of the feelings in the room.
Jacob thinks for Quil, this would be a contest, even knowing his life was on the line:
"It's a good way of thinking of it," Emmett said.
"How did I know you would say something like that?" Jasper rolled his eyes.
Jacob explains the compulsion feeling like puppet strings:
"Which means he won't be much help," Jasper said, but that wasn't really true. When the fight started, Jacob would defend his brothers … even if he didn't agree with the reason for the fight.
Mentions of Leah wishing Sam would send Seth home:
"She's right though," Esme said. "He should not have to be there for this."
Jacob thinks that he would end up doing what Sam wanted if Sam was willing to push it:
"Well, obviously he is, but that doesn't mean you just give up," Emmett said. "Fight it, pup."
Jacob thinks so what if Sam was wrong, no one could dispute his decision … except:
"Except?" Esme said hopefully. "Except what?"
Carlisle furrowed his eyebrows at that as he thought of what the exception could be.
Jacob thinks the thought I never wanted to have, but the exception was a relief:
"Tell us the damn exception already," Emmett said impatiently.
Jacob thinks no one could dispute the Alpha's decision, except for me:
"I knew it!" Carlisle said, smiling.
"Of course!" Jasper smacked his head. "Because his ancestor was the last chief … the last Alpha …."
"He was supposed to be the Alpha," Carlisle said. "It's not something that he could just ignore, so he has the means to fight this."
"Oh, great," Rosalie said, annoyed and pleased at the same time. This was a good thing … she had to remind herself as she thought of the fight that it could prevent … but it was difficult when she realized that the mutt was likely going to have to spend more time with them.
Jacob thinks Sam was better at that than I would ever be:
"I'm not so sure about that," Carlisle said. "It's hard to say what you would do once you're a leader … But I would have to say that the best leaders out there never wanted to be one in the first place."
Jacob walks to Sam and says no:
"He must have been shocked out of mind when he saw the pup standing up to him like that," Emmett laughed.
"This really should throw a wrench in their plans to attack us," Jasper laughed, too, feeling the relief of everyone.
"Oh, dear … you don't think there's still going to be a fight, do you?" Esme asked.
"I have no idea, but I know if the pup really stands up to Sam, then there isn't going to be one tonight," Jasper said.
Sam thinks you would choose your enemies over your family:
"Oh, dear," Esme repeated, feeling sorry for Jacob for making a choice like that.
Jacob thinks you will destroy the pack over her, no matter how many survive, they will always have murder on their hands:
"And trust me, that's not something you want," Emmett said sadly. He really didn't like that.
Same thinks even if you can defeat me, the pack won't follow you:
"Oh, no … they're going to fight!" Esme gasped, really worried this time.
"It will be okay," Carlisle said warily. He was thinking about real wolves and knew that two Alphas couldn't exist in one pack.
Mentions every word Sam says was layered with command, but it couldn't touch Jacob:
"Why all this doom and gloom … can't he just go off on his own?" Emmett asked.
"I suppose he could," Carlisle said, "and I would even say that's what he's planning to do, but in some way, even that is ripping the pack apart … they would have lost him."
Jacob says Sam was my brother still, even though I rejected him:
"Good," Esme said, but her voice was still sad. She hated to hear about their family breaking apart like this, though it was a lot better than the alternative. She was happy that Jacob still felt that way.
Sam thinks do you belong to a coven now:
"There's nothing wrong with being part of our family," Emmett said.
"The mutt is not part of our family," Rosalie and Edward both said.
"Edward!" Esme scolded, sounding shocked by his rudeness. "He's trying to help us out … you should be nicer to him."
"Sorry," Edward said. He knew she had a point, but he couldn't shake his bad feeling and he didn't what the dog so close to them.
Mentions Jacob sprinting towards the Cullens house, leaving his home behind, that he didn't have a home anymore:
Esme sighed again, her heart going out to the poor boy.
"Don't worry … it looks like Esme is sure to make a home for you, pup," Emmett chuckled.
Mention that someone was chasing Jacob, but then it wasn't chasing, following:
"Ah, so he's not a lone wolf anymore," Emmett said. "I bet it's the cub who joined him."
"That would make sense," Jasper said. "He didn't want this fight either."
Seth thinks, is that an order:
"It can be," Emmett said.
"After what happened tonight, I don't think that Jacob would be so quick to use that power on someone else," Carlisle said.
Seth says I know it's awful quiet, haven't you notice:
"Quiet?" several people asked, and Carlisle was thoughtful again.
"What does that mean?" Emmett asked, but no one answered.
Mentions that there were howls but Seth thinks they haven't phased back:
"They can't hear the other wolves anymore," Carlisle said, shocked. "I wonder how that works … how this changed things."
Jacob thinks but what you change can be change right back:
"I wonder," Carlisle began. "It's clear that Jacob could never go back, but I wonder if Seth could. It was just a choice to follow a different leader for him …."
"We don't care about this crap," Rosalie hissed and Carlisle just turned his musing inward.
Jacob thinks what do we do if the pack challenges us, attack our brother, you sister:
"No … we would never want that," Esme said. "What are we going to do?"
"I don't know," Carlisle sighed. "I would think the best plan would be to leave … but that's not going to work with Bella in the state she's in. I know I could be more prepared for whatever happens if she's here, but I don't want the boys being caught up in a fight."
"With the mutt and cub being here …." Rosalie started.
"You called him cub … does that mean you actually like Seth?" Emmett asked, chuckling.
" … I don't think that the others would be quick to attack … they might not come at all," Rosalie said, ignoring Emmett completely.
Jacob thinks stop being so … optimistic:
"What a foreign word in this book," Emmett said.
"Especially when it's used to describe someone," Jasper added.
Seth thinks Edward you there, okay now I feel kind of stupid:
"Now you feel stupid?" Emmett laughed.
"I probably can hear him now," Edward said. "And you know you do the same thing whenever you think towards me."
"Whatever," Emmett shrugged.
Edward questions they want to kill Bella:
"Er … that might not have been the best thing to say," Jasper said, almost smiling.
"Yeah, because what I heard is the two wolves in front of us, want to kill Bella," Emmett said.
"Er … sorry," Edward said.
Emmett and Jasper expose their teeth and Seth thinks hey now:
"Ah … I would hate it if I hurt the cub," Emmett frowned.
Edward tells them that the other pack is coming, and Jasper kept his eyes locked on them:
"You could relax now," Alice said.
"You know that's never going to happen after a statement like that," Jasper said.
Edward says Carlisle and Esme have to get back here now:
"Oh, dear … we're not there?" Esme asked.
"They better not attack you," Rosalie growled, and everyone was looking worried about that thought.
"I don't think they would," Carlisle said, trying to reassure everyone.
Seth thinks I'm out of here, you need to coordinate with the Cullens:
"You know, I'm starting to wonder who the Alpha of this pack is," Jasper chuckled.
Edward says I never would have asked for this from you:
"Yeah, you would have," Emmett said. "You would ask for anything to keep Bella safe."
"True … I suppose I should have said 'I would never have wanted this from you'," Edward said.
Jacob thinks to Edward if I get too far for you to hear, listen for my howl:
"You know, in times like these, it would be nice if I could project my thoughts onto other people too," Edward said.
"And whenever we have a discussion, it would be nice too," Alice added.
Seth thinks hey, something coming up fast:
Esme tensed at that.
"You would think we were reading a suspense thriller with the way you've been tensing up," Emmett chuckled.
"I'm worried," Esme said. This book was much more worrisome than the others … or at least the number of chapters that had issues was a lot higher than the previous ones.
Seth thinks that Sam wont bring the pack tonight, he's not going on a suicide mission:
"Obviously … his surprise is blown and he's down two fighters," Jasper said.
"And his enemy has two more," Emmett added.
"I wouldn't go that far," Jasper said. "I have no idea what the pup and cub would do if the fight started, but I don't really see them fighting against their brothers."
Mentions Seth was howling:
"Don't howl … we'll think the pack is coming," Jasper groaned.
Seth thinks things ending with I can't believe you said you'd kill Edward:
"Oh … I don't blame him so much for howling …." Alice said, glaring at Edward.
Mentions that Rosalie and Bella were talking in plurals, like they formed their own pack:
"Or Rose is just getting what she wants and is placing the 'we' on there because it's only polite," Emmett said.
Rosalie was glaring at him.
Description of the living room ending with IV plugged into her arm, liquid was white, not clear:
"What's happening?" Edward asked, looking at Carlisle. "It's fluid nutrition."
"I have no idea," Carlisle sighed, wishing he could have another answer to that. "But Rosalie said I wanted to try something … so perhaps this is just me trying to do something. However, this clearly shows you that we need to stay in this house … I couldn't get access to equipment like this anywhere else."
Mentions worse, yes she was worse:
"That's it," Jasper said, giving the book to Carlisle. Everyone was somber from the last sentence, but all edgier to know what happens next.
O
Some People Just Don't Grasp the Concept of 'Unwelcome'
Mentions Jacob was right on the edge of sleep:
"And then … BOOM," Emmett shouted, laughing.
"Idiot," Rosalie glared at him.
Mentions then Seth's piercing howl broke the quiet:
"It better not be another false alarm," Emmett said.
"No …." Esme said, disagreeing with him. "Don't say that."
"Sorry … I just meant the cub shouldn't give us two false alarms," Emmett tried to modify, but Esme was still worried.
Seth listens to paws running in their directions and then hears Morning, boys:
"Er … at least that doesn't sound like an attack," Emmett said.
"Hm … was that spoken or thought?" Carlisle asked.
"It was a thought," Jasper said. "Which they wouldn't have been able to hear unless this wolf had joined their pack …."
"Exactly," Carlisle said, and this caused Esme to relax somewhat.
Leah thinks I'm joining your crappy little renegade pack, the vampire guard dogs:
"Doesn't she hate us?" Emmett asked.
"Yeah," Jasper replied.
"So why would she come here?" Emmett asked.
"Because of her brother maybe," Jasper shrugged.
"I would think that it would take more than that," Emmett said.
"She was very protective of him," Esme reminded him.
"And he is the only wolf that she actually likes," Alice added.
Mentions Seth is only too happy to leave:
"Yeah, who would want to be around your stupid sister," Emmett chuckled and Alice glared at him. "Stupid, annoying sister."
Leah thinks I'd just sit at home when my brother volunteers as a vampire chew toy:
"See, I was right," Jasper said.
"There's still got to be more to it than that," Emmett said, "because she would have come last night if that was the case."
"Huh … good point," Jasper allowed.
Leah thinks tell me who wants me around and I'm out of here:
"Poor girl," Esme sighed.
"If she wasn't so bitter all the time, people might want her around," Jasper said.
Mentions that Jacob was alert for a ploy but there was nothing, Leah's declaration was the truth, unwilling almost despairing truth:
"Well, it's nice to know that we have such a willing ally on our side," Emmett chuckled.
"I don't like it," Jasper frowned, "but it still helps us for right now. It dwindles their numbers to seven … it's an even fight now."
Leah thinks because I have to belong to someone, and she tried to break out on her own but couldn't, she chooses Jacob:
"Ah … doesn't that just make you feel special?" Emmett teased.
"He could order her to go away," Jasper said.
"But he won't," Emmett argued. "No Alpha commands from the pup."
"And that's why he's getting walked all over," Jasper chuckled.
Leah thinks of course I'm here for Seth:
"Told you it was more than just the cub," Emmett said smugly.
"Then you should have made a bet with me," Jasper smirked back at him.
"Hmph," Emmett huffed and crossed his arms.
Jacob thinks and to get away from Sam:
"Of course," Esme said, "she would want that."
"It must have been killing her to be that close to him," Alice said, "knowing what he thought about her cousin …."
"Yeah, even being near the stupid mutt would be better than that," Rosalie agreed, even though she was wishing this wasn't happening because she wanted to hear more about Bella's condition and could care less about the wolves' issues.
Jacob thinks make yourself useful, tell us what happened after we left last night:
"Yes, that's a good idea," Jasper said. The more information they had, the better.
Seth thinks, crap, you told Mom:
Emmett laughed. "He certainly seems afraid of that."
"He should be," Esme said. "She must be so worried about him … and now Leah has joined him too. Poor Sue."
"She'll live," Emmett said. "They said she's tough."
"It won't stop her from worrying," Esme sighed.
Jacob thinks that he couldn't think of anyone he wouldn't trade for Leah and she suggests Paul:
"Yeah, I don't think I would want him," Emmett said. "Not since he imprinted on your sister."
Leah thinks than that's my goal, to be less annoying than Paul:
Emmett chuckled at that. "This chapter is pretty funny."
"This is a stupid chapter," Rosalie hissed.
Jacob says to Carlisle, Bella's family to you:
"Well, of course she's family to me," Carlisle smiled. "I think of her like that now, before we've even met."
Carlisle says it wouldn't be right to make choice for her, to force her:
"No … that most definitely wouldn't be right," Rosalie hissed.
Mentions Jacob wanted to be angry with Carlisle, but he was making it hard:
"Carlisle … how dare you make it so hard on him to be angry with you," Emmett chastised sarcastically.
Carlisle explains about the fetus not being compatible with Bella's body ending with I can't figure out what it wants:
Carlisle bowed his head. "I'm sorry."
"You're trying," Edward said, trying to force himself to be optimistic. It sounded odd coming from him. "You will figure it out."
"I don't understand," Rosalie said. "The baby must know that she needs her nutrition for her to survive … for both of them to survive … it has to have survival instincts."
"You're right … there has to be something I could do," Carlisle sighed. "I just don't know what."
Mentions Jacob could tell them what it wanted, death and blood, blood and death:
"Blood!" Carlisle said, suddenly excited. "If the baby is like us …."
"It would want blood!" Rosalie finished.
"So … does that mean that Bella is going to have to drink blood?" Emmett said. "As a human!"
"I would think she must," Carlisle said, "if this were to work."
"You would think that I would be okay with that, but that just sounds sick," Emmett said.
"It is a little disturbing to think of a human doing that," Jasper chuckled.
"But if it saves her and the baby …." Rosalie said.
"I know, I know," Emmett said. "It's all good with me."
Carlisle says Rosalie won't agree to let me try in any case:
"Sorry," Rosalie said, knowing that Carlisle would like something to think about … a problem to work with so he wouldn't have to be so worried about this.
"It's okay," Carlisle sighed, though he would like to know the answer to his book-self's musings.
Jacob says you're losing me, Doc, can you dumb it down:
Emmett laughed at that.
"You don't need him to dumb it down for you too, do you?" Alice teased.
"Of course not, I know all about chromosomes and crap like that," Emmett huffed.
"Though, it was difficult to explain it to him the first time around," Rosalie smirked and everyone laughed as Emmett pouted.
Carlisle says I didn't know to warn them:
"It's okay, Carlisle," Edward said, because Carlisle was looking glum at that. "I know you would have warned me if you ever thought this was possible."
Jacob wounders about the Olympic steroids test again, did they run DNA scan:
"No, they don't. There's no point to doing that, as far as they know," Carlisle said. "And I would like to know how many chromosomes the wolves have too."
Carlisle says you have twenty-four pairs, Jacob:
"Ah, thank you," Carlisle smiled.
"It seems like you got it without his knowledge, though," Jasper said.
Carlisle says I find your species fascinating:
"Yes … most fascinating," Carlisle said.
"Oh no, now there's two Carlisle's that are excited about something," Emmett said. "This can't be good."
The Carlisle in the room tried to rein in his excitement as everyone else laughed.
Mentions that Edward wants to talk to Jacob and that he sounded like he desired to hope:
"What's that about?" Emmett questioned.
"Not sure …." Edward shrugged.
Do you think it has to do with the blood thing that the pup mentioned? Alice thought and Edward nodded … it was what he was thinking too.
Mentions that Edward had a difficult time using a term as mild as fetus:
Rosalie glared at him.
"It appears that I really think a monster is in there," Edward said. He had never allowed himself to think that this time around. The others had filled his mind with hope that it would be a baby, but if it was a monster …
"You shouldn't start thinking that way," Jasper said, sending Edward a wave of tranquility. He looked nervous about the emotion that Edward was just feeling.
"Right," Edward sighed.
Edward says, if the creature is more vampire than human, can't you guess what it wants, Jacob did:
"Why don't you just say it more plainly?" Emmett rolled his eyes. "The baby needs blood."
"Don't know," Edward shrugged, knowing that would only annoy Emmett more.
Rosalie says if you tell her, it will help the baby, she will do anything, even if we have to feed them through a tube:
"You do realize that made you sound completely heartless," Edward pointed out.
"No … it made me sound concerned for the baby," Rosalie glared at him.
"With no regard for Bella," Edward said.
"Sorry," Rosalie sighed.
Edward says we're going to asks you to do something monstrous, repulsive:
"Gee … way to make her want to do this," Rosalie rolled her eyes.
"I have to give her an honest warning, don't I?" Edward asked. "You don't have to worry so much … I'm sure she's going to give you what you want."
Mentions of Rosalie tapping her toe impatiently and Jacob wants to throw her through the wall:
"You wouldn't get the chance, mutt," Rosalie hissed. "I would stop you before you even took a step."
Bella asks, who, and then looks at Jacob:
Emmett was laughing hard at that.
"Well, I wouldn't mind that," Rosalie said, "but I doubt that would be good for the baby."
O
Good Thing I've got a Strong Stomach
Mentions fridge full of blood, check:
"We don't keep a fridge full of blood … it was for Bella, you jerk," Rosalie said.
"Where's the fun if we had a fridge full of blood anyway?" Emmett scoffed.
Mentions Jacob would never blame Leah again:
"Yeah … let's see how long that lasts," Emmett chuckled.
"She probably won't be as bad now," Esme said, "now that she doesn't have to constantly deal with it."
