Zero's Lady
Chapter 1: The Day a New Demon is Born
"Mama, how did you and Papa meet?"
"Your father went to a work trip to Japan and that's how I got to know him. Afterwards, we fell in love and got married. Then you were born from our love, Rin."
"Love? What is that?"
"Love is when you come to like a person very much."
"Do you think I'll find that special someone someday, Mama?"
"Of course, Rin. That would make me the happiest mother alive."
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
A irritated groan escaped Rin's mouth as she slammed her alarm clock off and slowly lifted herself up from her bed, revealing her pale blue short sleeved nightgown.
Rin was now a seventeen-year-old girl with chestnut brown hair tied in cork-screw curled pigtails, a braided hairband above her bangs and two small strands of hair which reached her chin let loose and straight.
"Hooray. It's Monday. The start of the week."Rin muttered with a fake happy tone. "Yay."
Rin stood up from her bed to get dressed in her Ashford Academy uniform.
The brunette placed on a light-yellow jacket with gold trims and black cuffs with a white long-sleeved shirt that had a green tie with Ashford logo. Underneath she placed on a short black skirt and white knee socks with black shoes.
After she was ready, Rin picked up her school case and headed out of her room.
Rin carefully opened the door to a nearby room and saw Kaguya fast asleep, but her bed sheet was on the floor.
A light chuckle escaped the brunette's mouth before she carefully placed the bed sheet on her cousin to prevent her from catching a cold and then gave her a little kiss on the head.
"See you later, Kaguya."Rin whispered.
Rin then left the Sumeragi Residence and began walking her way to Ashford Academy.
"I am Lynn Rossellini. But everyone calls me, Rin. I am seventeen years old and I was born June 28th. I'm a Cancer and my blood type is O. My hobbies are reading books, horse riding and playing Onitama (A Game of Martial Arts). My favourite foods are ramen and seafood. Periwinkle is my favourite colour. My favourite sports are equestrian and volleyball. And my favourite subject is cooking. Especially baking because I enjoy making delicious treats that make the people I care about smile."
Rin walked around the road that lead her above the Area 11 highway.
Her smile vanished when she caught sight of a big screen that showed news on the terrorist attack.
"Ever since the Holy Britannia invaded Japan seven years ago, I got to say everything went down in hell for the Japanese people. Within one month, the utterly defeated Japan was stripped of its freedom and its rights. And it got named 'Area 11'. This number became the new name of Japan. In addition, most of the Japanese people became terrorists to continue rebelling against the corrupted Empire. It's a war that never ends."
"We apologize for the delay."the TV Spokeswoman announced. "Now His Royal Highness Prince Clovis, third prince of Britannia, will address the nation."
The big screen then shows the Viceroy of Area 11, Clovis la Britannia beginning a speech.
"To all my imperial subjects!"Prince Clovis stated."Including of course the many cooperative Elevens who choose to serve the Empire of Britannia!"
Rin narrowed her eyes at seeing the Viceroy of Area 11 before continuing her way to school.
"I am actually half-Britannian from my father's side and half-Japanese from my mother's side. So, I'm actually a half-breed even though I have an appearance of an actual Britannian civilian. Regardless of the DNA I have, I'm completely against Britannia's ideology of seeing other people that are not Britannians as mere numbers and the weak should be ruled by the strong."
"Do you not see my pain? My heart was ripped from my chest only to be torn apart!"Prince Clovis declared in a firm tone."The remnants are filled with rage and sadness! However, as ruler of Area 11, I will not tolerate terrorism of any kind! Because the battle we fight is a righteous one, a virtuous battle to protect the well-being of one and all! Now then, everyone! I would like you to join me in observance of the eight who died for justice, in the line of duty. A moment of silence, please."
All the civilians around do a moment of silence except for Rin, who simply rolled her eyes as she continued to her destination.
"I find it completely annoyed that the military of Britannia enjoy torturing and killing innocent civilians like they were wild animals. It's utterly disgusting. You should never use appalling transgressions towards your fellow human beings. No matter what their race, religion or background is. To me all of this Britannian ideology is just a genocide that will continue a cycle of hate that will divide everyone in the world. And I really wish it stopped."
Rin arrived inside Ashford Academy along with the other students that were attending.
The brunette then stopped as she thought about her childhood back in the homeland.
A smile played on her lips as she remembered watching Lelouch and Clovis playing chess together as children in Pendragon.
Another thing she wished to go back to.
Rin suppressed a giggle when she remembered how mad Clovis would get when Lelouch would win and accuse Lelouch of cheating.
Lady Marianne would always have to break them up, offering a sweet treat to both of them in the hopes of calling a truce between the half-brothers.
Rin closed her eyes and sighed sadly as she remembered her mother figure.
"Lady Marianne."Rin murmured quietly."How I miss you."
Lady Marianne had always been like a second mother to her. She would comb her hair after being given a bath, dress her up in cute little dresses and always treated her as one of the family.
One time she remembered eavesdropping on the 5th Empress' conversation with her own mother, Miyu Rossellini, about planning a marriage between Lelouch and-
"Rin!"
Rin snapped out of her thoughts causing her to turn around and saw one of her classmates, Shirley Fenette coming her way.
Shirley was a pale skinned girl that had auburn orange hair that reached her hip area, yellowish green eyes and wore the same Ashford Academy uniform like the other girls.
"Hi, Shirley."Rin greeted with a smile.
"Have you seen Lulu come to school by any chance?"Shirley asked.
Rin shook her head.
"No. I haven't seen him."Rin responded. "He must be out gambling again with Rivalz."
"Uh!"Shirley scowled in annoyance. "The nerve!"
Rin covered her giggle with her mouth at Shirley's respond as Alice suddenly rushed past her and accidentally hit the back of her head with her bag.
Alice was a fourteen-year-old girl with lemon blonde hair tied in two pigtails and dark red eyes. She wore a pink pinafore with a white long-sleeved shirt, a red tie with the Ashford logo, white knee socks and black shoes.
"Ow!"Rin growled and glared at Alice. "Alice! What was that for?!"
"Crud! Sorry, Rin!"Alice apologised while running off. "I got behind schedule!"
Rin rubbed the back of her head before she and Shirley went to class together.
Sometime after the two girls joined their other classmates; Milly Ashford and Nina Einstein at lunch to discuss Lelouch's gambling habits.
"Where's Lelouch?"Milly asked.
"He went somewhere with Rivalz."Shirley commented.
"What!"Milly said in awe. "Maybe it's poker this time?"
"They seem to forget that they're on the Student Council! They're off gambling for money!"Shirley complained. "Lulu may be smart, yet he wastes his brain on stupid things! If only he applied himself in school! He would get high grades!"
Milly smirked and began to tease Shirley over her affection for Lelouch.
"Oh, I wish my darling Lulu would be a serious young man."Milly teased. "How adorable is that?"
Shirley looked away as she began to blush a bit.
"Please, madam president."Shirley groaned.
Rin simply smiled as she ate her pasta salad.
The brunette secretly liked Lelouch more than a friend, so she would get easily jealous that Shirley and all the other girls in school had a crush on him as well.
Rin shrugged before placing her small fork in her mouth.
"I don't know, he told me he was going to be busy this afternoon but didn't tell me what."Rin stated. "Probably off gambling somewhere, he knows I hate that. But he asked me to stay with Nunnally anyway, so I half expected him to be off gambling."
Rin glanced at Shirley from the corner of her eyes. Shirley looked at the empty chair that Lelouch normally sat at.
"They seem to forget that they are part of the student council!"Shirley scolded.
Rin shrugged again, waving her fork.
"I suppose that's just Lelouch's personality."Rin commented.
At the Ghettos…
The Royal Guard take hold of the lime haired girl and corner Lelouch to the wall of a warehouse with their guns pointed at him.
"What an appropriate location for terrorists to meet their end."the Royal Guard Captain commented.
"You scum!"Lelouch growled angrily.
"Still, you did well for student, but that's to be expected. You're a Britannian."the Royal Guard Captain continued. "Unfortunately, my clever young friend, you have no future."
Just as the Royal Guard Captain fired his gun, the girl quickly gets free and runs in front of Lelouch.
"He mustn't die!"the girl shouted.
The lime haired girl gets shot in the forehead and falls to the ground dead.
"You shot her!"Lelouch growled.
Lelouch ran towards the dead girl and knelt down to check on her body.
"Our orders were to bring her back alive if possible. Oh well, nothing can be done about it now."the Royal Guard Captain said with a smug look. "We'll tell our superiors that the Royal Guard found the terrorist hideout and killed them all. Regrettably, the female hostage had already been tortured to death. What do you think, schoolboy?"
Lelouch was horrified, slowly taking in on what just happened.
'How can this be happening?"Lelouch thought in shock. "First Suzaku's killed. And this girl..."
Lelouch was suddenly grabbed by the hand of the mysterious girl, who was supposed to be dead.
Suddenly, the former prince found himself somewhere in a different place surrounded by swirling blue light and different images while hearing the lime haired girl's voice.
"You don't want it things to keep going on as they have, do you?"the lime haired girl's voice questioned.
"What?"Lelouch whispered.
"You appear to have a reason for living."the lime haired girl's voice continued.
"The girl?"Lelouch said in disbelief. "That's impossible!"
'If I grant you power, could you go on?"the lime haired girl's voice asked. "I propose a deal. In exchange for this power, you must agree to make my one wish come true. Accept this contract and you accept its conditions, while living in the world of humans, you will live unlike any other. A different providence, a different time, a different life. The power of the king will condemn you to a life of solitude. Are you prepared for this?'
The visions end revealing the back of Emperor Charles, who appeared to be in some ancient ruin.
"A convergence with the Ragnarok connection?"Emperor Charles asked. "So the myth is beginning once again?'"
Lelouch was lost in his thoughts.
The supposed dead girl was offering him a power to change things.
A power to change the cruel world that he was living in.
But then he remembered something.
With great power comes great responsibility.
That was what Rin always told him.
If he took this power that means it was his responsibility to take care of it and make sure he used when he needed to. Otherwise, it will lead to terrible consequences. He didn't want that.
Whatever this power was, he would use it to destroy Britannia and not hurt the people he loved.
After making his decision, Lelouch gives his reply to the mysterious girl.
"Yes!"Lelouch answered. "I hereby accept the terms of your contract!"
Then the visions disappeared and Lelouch was back in the warehouse with the members of the Royal Guard still having his guns pointed at him.
"Say, how should a Britannian who detests his own country live his life?"Lelouch questioned, covering his left eye.
"What?"the Royal Guard Captain scowled. "Are you some kind of radical?"
"What's wrong? Why not shoot?"Lelouch asked. "Your opponent is just a schoolboy. Or have you finally realized? The only ones who should kill are those who are prepared to be killed."
Lelouch revealed his left eye, which now had an image similar to a sigil covering his pupil.
The Royal Guard Captain became stunned. "What's happening here?!"
"I, Lelouch vi Britannia, command you...now...DIE!"Lelouch ordered.
At Lelouch's order, a strange red light shot out of his eye, and it entered the eyes of the Royal Guard Captain and his men.
The members of the Royal Guard's pupils now had red outlines before they gleefully took their guns and aimed them at their necks.
"Happily, Your Highness!"the Royal Guard members answered with mad smiles.
The members of the Royal Guard shot themselves causing all of them to drop dead on the ground.
Lelouch looked on with a stoic look on his face, surprised and confused at what just happened.
"That was the turning point. Since that day, I've lived a lie. The lie of living. My name too was a lie. My personal history, a lie. Nothing but lies."Lelouch thought. "I was sick to death of a world that couldn't be changed. But even in my lies, I refused to give up in despair. But now this incredible power. It's mine."
A mischievous smirk spring on Lelouch's face at the power he had now.
"Well, then..."Lelouch sneered.
