Zero's Lady
Chapter 4: The New Viceroy of Area 11
In Ashford Academy…
Rin was preparing some breakfast pancakes for Lelouch, Nunnally and herself to eat.
The brunette carefully stirred the pancake batter before putting some in a pan and then on the plates to decorate them.
Once the pancakes were ready, Rin placed a plate of pancakes at the table side where Nunnally was sitting down waiting.
"Here you go, Nunnally."Rin remarked as she cut the small tower of pancakes a bit for her little sister figure. "Fluffy pancakes with whipped cream and strawberry on top, served with sweet and sour strawberry syrup. The blend of sweetness and sourness from the strawberries and whipped cream makes it easy to eat."
Nunnally used a fork to eat a slice of her pancakes causing her cheeks to turn pink at its delightful taste.
"Mmm!"Nunnally hummed in delight. "Your pancakes are amazing, Rin!"
A smile sprung on Rin's face at the blind girl's comment.
"Thanks, Nunna. That means a lot."Rin thanked and notice Lelouch still hasn't shown up. "Where's Lelouch?"
"His in his room."Nunnally responded.
Rin nodded and made her way to Lelouch's room to call him for breakfast.
She knocked on the door in a pattern that only Lelouch and Suzaku would recognise since it was the one they used when they were still kids.
"Hey, Lelouch!"Rin called out. "Breakfast is ready!"
There were rustling and shoving sounds coming from inside the room until the door automatically opened revealing Lelouch.
"Great."Lelouch remarked, putting his arm around Rin's neck. "Lead the way."
"Did I distract you from something?"Rin asked.
"Not at all."Lelouch answered. "I was just working on my alarm clock."
"I've never seen you as the person with an alarm clock."Rin commented.
Lelouch smirked. "There's a lot you don't know about me."
"Fair enough."Rin said with a small shrug.
Lelouch and Rin walked away as a lime haired girl slowly crawled out from underneath the raven haired boy's bed.
"Lelouch."C.C muttered coldly. "Shoving me down here is going to cost you."
Meanwhile…
At the government bureau, a Britannian officer was informing Suzaku of the verdict.
"Private Suzaku Kururugi, case number 107 of the Area 11 military forces."the Britannian officer spoke up. "In the matter of your involvement in Prince Clovis's murder, you are hereby set free due to lack of evidence."
Suzaku was walking out of the building with his bag in his hand.
"What happened?"Suzaku said in confusion. "I'm free?"
"Out of the way, please!"A female voice called out. "Look out below!"
Suzaku looked up to see a sixteen year old coming down and he quickly caught her from falling.
The girl had bubblegum pink hair that reached below her waist that was styled downwards with two buns on each side of her head while she had curly bangs hanging on the right side of her face and bluish-violet eyes. She wore a white long-sleeved shirt that was bright green in the stomach area, a long orange skirt, a dark red choker around her neck and brown flats.
"Are you alright?"Suzaku asked.
"I'm sorry."Euphemia apologised. "I wasn't aware you were down here until I had leapt."
"Well, don't worry."Suzaku assured with a smile. "I wasn't expecting a girl to come falling out of the sky and into my arms, either."
Euphemia looked at Suzaku in silence.
"Oh, my…"Euphemia murmured.
"Is there something wrong?"Suzaku said in confusion.
"Yes."Euphemia remarked with a smile.
"There is something truth is bad guys are chasing me. So considering the circumstances could you help me, please?"
Back in Ashford Academy…
Rin was speaking with Kallen about the events that happened last night.
"Then Suzaku left us to go to his court martial."Kallen retorted with a frown. "Man, his really a fool to think he can change Britannia from within."
A sigh escaped Rin's face.
"I know. But I'm still worried about him, Kallen."Rin commented. "His Kaguya's cousin just like I am."
"Right."Kallen said bluntly. "Oh. By the way, Zero said he wanted to meet you outside your house tonight at 11pm."
"Really?"Rin said in surprise. "Zero wants to meet me?"
Kallen nodded in respond.
"Alright."Rin responded. "I'll be there."
Somewhere…
A boy with silver spiky hair wearing a prisoner suit was being held in a prison cell and had a few bruises in his face from his captors.
He slowly patted as his prison cell opened revealing two Britannian soldiers with guns in their hands.
"Aw, you're still alive after the last experiment?"the first soldier said.
"Well. That's too bad."the second soldier commented. "We got orders to get rid of you. So I'm afraid you got no future, boy."
Both the soldiers let out a cruel laughter as the silver haired boy gave them a hidden glare as a red bird-like symbol appeared on his forehead.
The next thing that happened the soldiers killed themselves and dropped on the ground dead before the boy started to run to escape.
In Shinjuku Ghetto…
Suzaku and Euphemia arrived at a memorial area that was located in the ghetto of Shinjuku, only to find the area in ruin again.
"The Shinjuku Ghetto…ruined again."Suzaku said. "The residents were starting to return too."
The duo notice two Britannian students were taking pictures of the battleground.
"Man, they didn't use RG on the Elevens."the first Britannian student said. "I figured they wouldn't."
"Hey, look!"the second Britannian student commented. "Those are marks of Hummer rounds. Get a clear shot of it."
"Say cheese!"the first Britannian student responded and took a picture of his companion. "Got it. Okay, me next."
Then Tamaki with Minami and Yoshida rush into the same area that Suzaku and Euphemia were.
Tamaki knocked away the Britannian students' camera and begins to yell at them.
"Get out of here, you damn Britanian bastards!"Tamaki snapped.
Euphemia and Suzaku notice the fight before the Honorary Britannian ran off to interfere.
"Stay here."Suzaku instructed.
"How dare a lowly Eleven speak like..."the first Britannian student started.
"Don't call me Eleven!"Tamaki scowled. "I'm Japanese!"
"Wrong! You seem to forget you people lost!"the second Britannian student argued. "You're nothing but a beaten dog!"
"You racist pig!"Tamaki growled.
A confrontation seems inevitable until Suzaku runs up and tries to calm everyone down.
"Stop!"Suzaku protested. "Please no violence!"
"Stay out of this!"Tamaki scowled.
Tamaki knocks off Suzaku's sunglasses causing everyone to recognise him.
"You're that-"Yoshida said.
"Are you Suzaku Kururugi?"Minami asked.
"The guy who killed Clovis?"the second Britannian student suggested.
"No, idiot."the first Britannian student said. "It was Zero, who killed him."
Tamaki became angry at seeing Suzaku.
"This guy is nothing more than a slave. Big deal. You're an honorary Britanian. Nobody cares."Tamaki retorted with a glare. "You sold your pride, your people, yourself, yet you call yourself Japanese?"
"No!"Suzaku protested. "You're wrong!"
"I am not wrong!"Tamaki interrupted. "You stinking Britanian lapdog..."
Tamaki attempted to punch Suzaku, but the honorary Britannian easily countered by grabbing Tamaki's arm and flipped him over.
Tamaki hit the ground hard as the others were surprised and Euphemia ran over and saw what was happening.
"Stop, please!"Suzaku demanded. "I'll warn you I've been trained for military combat. Don't make me fight against my own people."
"Like hell your own people!"Tamaki scowled.
"Come on."Yoshida instructed. "Just let it go."
Tamaki notice Minami and Yoshida walking away and decided to follow as he glared at Suzaku with a hateful look.
"Lousy traitor."Tamaki muttered.
Euphemia brought her attention to Suzaku.
"Suzaku! Oh, my…"Euphemia said. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm alright."Suzaku answered.
"Well, I'm not O.K."the first Britannian student complained as he picked up his camera. "Just look at my prime-G and my elex-4."
"Why did you wait?"The second Britannian student asked glaring at Suzaku. "Damn it. Some honorary citizen you are."
"Why'd you let 'em go? You should have killed 'em. What're a few dead elevens to a guy like you!"the first Britannian student retorted. "Who do you think's taking care of you all these years anyway?"
Euphemia then stepped in to defend Suzaku by slapping the first Britannian student right in the face.
"I'll not allow you to insult this man any longer, you oaf."Euphemia scowled.
At the Area 11 Highway…
Rin was making her way back to the Sumeragi Residence while speaking with somebody she knew from Euro Britannia.
"I thought I might hear from you."Rin remarked with a hint of amusement. "It's been so long, Leila."
The brunette got a respond causing her to let out a chuckle.
"Yes. I was always the most sophisticated one, but you were the one who encouraged my interests in making a better society."Rin complemented. "Then again…"
Suddenly, an explosion erupted and Rin saw it was coming from the stadium that belonged to Shinjuku's old stadium.
"I'm going to have to call you back, Leila."Rin stated. "Something just came up."
At the Shinjuku Stadium…
Jeremiah was confronted by Kewell and three other Sutherlands that wanted to kill him.
"Jeremiam!"Kewell scowled. "You are going to pay for letting Prince Clovis' murderer go free."
"Kewell! You dirty coward!"Jeremiah retorted in anger. "That sighting of Zero and Soul was a lie, wasn't it?"
"We have to wipe away our disgrace before Princess Cornelia takes up her post here."Kewell informed. "This is how we keep our officials honest."
Lloyd and Cecile show up with the Lancelot and Suzaku decides to get involved with the conflict and try to stop it.
"Suzaku!"Cecile called out.
"Miss Cecile."Suzaku responded
Suzaku approached his companions with Euphemia following him.
"It's dangerous here."Cecile warned. "Get in."
"The Pure Bloods are having a silly squabble."Lloyd remarked. "Let's get out of here. Oh, and by the way, what a shame about your acquittal. Because now you'll have to work for me again."
"Wait, please!"Suzaku protested. "Isn't this an opportunity to gather battle data for the Lancelot?"
Cecile was surprised and Lloyd grinned happily to hear that Suzaku wanted to get involved with the conflict and try to stop it.
"Suzaku..."Euphemia started.
"I'm sorry, Euphie. We have to say goodbye here."Suzaku informed. "I need to do this. I think I can stop them with the Lancelot. I have to try. I...I must!"
Jeremiah was getting beaten pretty badly by his former Pure Blood companions.
"Damn, it's four against one."Jeremiah scowled. "Cowards!"
Jeremiah tried using his stun tonfas, but Kewell stopped it with his jousting lance.
"Don't worry Jeremiah."Kewell admitted. "We'll say you died in battle. Your family's name won't be disgraced."
Jeremiah's Knightmare was struck, but this time from behind.
"You're serious then?"Jeremiah said angrily. "You actually intend to kill me?"
Jeremiah countered using one of his other stun tonfas.
"KEWELL!"Jeremiah roared out in rage.
"Silence, Orange!" Kewell snapped. "We serve the Imperial family. Why else would we be here?"
The four Sutherlands charged towards Jeremiah's with their jousting lances.
"All Hail Britannia!"Kewell and his cohorts chanted.
A slash harken suddenly appeared stopping the four Sutherlands attack.
The Pure Bloofs were surprised and looked as the slash harken retracted and it belonged to the Lancelot.
"Stop it!"Suzaku demanded. "You're all Britannian soldiers!"
Jeremiah was surprised by who saved him.
"That's him. It's that Honorary Britannian."Jeremiah commented. "The advanced weapon—Lancelot."
Kewell glared at the Lancelot.
"What business of the Special Corps want here?"Kewell retorted. "Interlopers will die."
"No!"Suzaku replied as the Lancelot drew its two Master Vibration Swords from their sheathes. "I can't stand by and ignore this senseless battle."
"They've perfected the MVS's."Kewell murmured and then kept his resolve. "Too late, I won't back down."
Kewell and his companions shot their Slash-Harkens at the Lancelot and the Lancelot dodge their slash harken and cut the slash harkens.
"We're on the same side!"Suzaku protested.
"Suzaku Kururugi...is saving me?"Jeremiah said with disbelief.
Four of the Sutherlands went on the attack against the Lancelot, but the white knightmare was blocking, dodging and countering all their attacks.
"We can at least kill Orange."Kewell informed.
Kewell's Sutherland went on to attack against Jeremiah's.
Kewell charged with his jousting lance, but Jeremiah was able to block it with his stun tonfas.
Then Villeta's Sutherland appeared pushing Kewell and protecting Jeremiah.
"Lord Jeremiah!"Villeta called out.
"Viletta! Thanks."Jeremiah thanked.
Kewell was pushed back and Villeta's Sutherland and Suzaku's Lancelot stood in front of Jeremiah's Sutherland.
"Still wanna fight?"Suzaku questioned.
"Men, stand down."Kewell ordered.
"You...you understand then?" Suzaku asked.
"I'm using a chaos-mine."Kewell stated.
Euphemia runs into the battlefield just as Kewell deploys a chaos mine.
"No!"Euphemia called out. "Stop it!"
Both Suzaku and Jeremiah became shocked to see Euphemia.
"What?"Jeremiah gasped.
Kewell throws a chaos mine in the air and it activated, firing a wave of deadly shrapnel over the area the three Knightmares were.
Luckily, Suzaku's Lancelot had a blaze luminous shield that he uses to protect himself and Euphemia.
"That Honorary Britannian."Villeta murmured. "He risked his life for..."
Euphemia stepped into the middle of the fray to reveal that she was the 3rd Princess of Britannia and ordered everyone to withdraw.
"Everyone, lower your weapons at once."Euphemia ordered. "In my name I command you."
"It...can't be."Kewell said in shock.
"I am Euphemia li Britannia of the Empire."Euphemia announced with a small glare. "And the third princess of the royal family."
"Ah! Euphie!"Suzaku said with a stunned look.
"I'm assuming command here."Euphemia declared. "Now fall back."
"It is her."Jeremiah responded. "It's the princess."
Lloyd and Cecile stood watching the scene.
"Did you know it was her, Lloyd?"Cecile asked.
"Uh-huh, but she's been a student up until now and hasn't made her public debut yet."Lloyd exclaimed while smiling.
"We, we're truly...We're truly sorry, Your Highness!" Kewell apologised.
Then Kewell and the other Pure Bloods used their Sutherlands to bow at Euphemia.
Suzaku comes out of the Lancelot and also bows to her.
"My Lady!"Suzaku called out. "I had no idea who you were. Please forgive me, Princess."
Euphemia looked at Suzaku.
"Suzaku, you and I bear a similar deep pain. You have lost your father as I have lost my brother."Euphemia exclaimed. "Will you let me help you in your quest to ensure that no one ever again has to suffer the loss of a loved one on the battlefield?"
Suzaku lowered his head. "Yes, I'm unworthy of your kindness."
Sometime after, Euphemia met up with Cornelia back at the Area 11 Government Bureau.
Euphemia wore a lilac and white dress with a rose choker.
Cornelia was a woman in her 20s with long fuchsia hair that she wore in a half up-half down crown-braid with two strands framing her face. Her eyes are lavender purple and wore magenta lipstick. She wore a deep red suit with a stylish white cape and white gloves.
"I heard what you did, Euphemia."Cornelia stated. "You shouldn't be so reckless."
"Sister. Forgive me."Euphemia responded. "But…"
"You will address me as Viceroy here, Sub-Viceroy Euphemia."Cornelia exclaimed. "Because we're sisters, we need to follow a stricter protocol."
Euphemia nodded at her older sister.
"Yes, I understand."Euphemia answered.
"Humph."Cornelia said with a smirk as she glanced to the man standing in between of them, "Now then, give me your report."
The subordinate raised his hand to cross over his chest.
"Yes, my Lady."the subordinate answered. "The first order of business is a welcome party we've arranged for your Highness and-"
Cornelia suddenly lifted her long pistol at the man standing on her right.
Euphemia was utterly surprised to find her sister pointing a gun at a man's head.
"Sloppy, senile, corrupt."Cornelia retorted and became angry. "Where is Zero? I want the enemy of the Empire caught! GET ZERO!"
Later that Night...
Rin stood outside the Sumeragi Residence, watching the city view ahead of the fence from where she stood.
Despite being under corrupted society rule, Area 11 seemed a bit more peaceful at night.
The brunette wore a dark pink jumper, blue trousers and deep brown boots.
She looked at time in her watch and saw it was 12:00pm.
"Greetings."
Rin spun around and saw Zero standing above one of the nearby trees.
"Was he there the whole time?"Rin thought in surprise.
"It's an honour to finally meet you in person, Miss Rossellini."Zero said.
"It's actually Miss Sumeragi."Rin exclaimed. "That's the surname I prefer to be addressed as."
"As you wish, Miss Sumeragi."Zero responded and glanced at the view around them. "Looking from the top makes this scene even worse."
"Huh?"Rin said in confusion.
"The left hand is the ghetto that couldn't be recovered after the end of the war. With streets that have been squeezed by Britannia."Zero exclaimed. "The right hand side is Britannia's sokai, different than the modern look it has on the exterior. This is the stolen city built on the sacrifice of Japan."
"But what do you intend to do?"Rin asked.
"Defeat Britannia."Zero responded.
Rin was surprised by Zero's declaration.
"Defeat the Britannian Empire?"Rin said in surprise.
"Fight with me."Zero insisted. "The world cannot be changed by pretty words alone."
"Come on! That's impossible!"Rin argued with a frown. "There's no way the people of Japan can defeat an empire in such a small group!"
Zero throws a small item towards Rin and the brunette saw it was a royal badge that belonged only to the member of the Britannian Royal Family.
"This is…the royal badge of the Royal family."Rin thought.
"This is my power, Miss Sumeragi."Zero stated. "That badge belonged to Prince Clovis."
A stunned look appeared on Rin's face.
"You really did kill Prince Clovis."Rin muttered quietly.
"Indeed, I did."Zero answered. "I despise Britannia as much as you do. If you wish to rid of it, then come join me."
Rin looked down. "I…I don't know."
"Would you rather take the path that Suzaku Kururugi?"Zero questioned. "Changing Britannia from within?"
"Like hell, no!"Rin scowled in annoyance. "I find his motives dumb! I would never want Japan or the rest of the world under the rule of slavery!"
A smug smile appeared from Zero's hidden face.
"So you rather join me, my lady?"Zero asked.
Rin felt her cheeks' warm up a bit at hearing Zero addressing her as 'his' lady.
"Yes."Rin responded with a firm look. "I want to join you."
"Excellent choice."Zero declared and does a bow. "Until then, Miss Sumeragi."
Suddenly, a gust of wind blew in the area causing Rin to shut her eyes.
When she opened them, the brunette saw Zero was no longer in the tree.
"A man of mystery."Rin thought and felt her heart beat in her chest. "Why do I feel like this?"
