Chapter 13: The Battle of Narita Part 1
In the Sumeragi Residence…
Rin sat on a yellow bean bag sofa in her bedroom, typing on her laptop while chatting with Naoto on the phone with her other hand.
"The Emperor decides to send the Knight of Nine to aid Princess Cornelia?"Rin commented. "That isn't good."
"Have you met her before?"Naoto asked.
"Yeah. When I was still a kid back in Pendragon with my father."Rin exclaimed before checking a file on her laptop about Nonette. "Nonette Enneagram, Knight of Nine. Attended military school with Britannia's Second Princess Cornelia and Nonette was her senior. Has a carefree and frank personality. She is also the most experienced member of the Rounds aside from the Knight of One himself. In addition, a friend and confidant of…Marianne the Flash. The former Knight of Six."
Rin checked information on Nonette's Knightmare, the Osenain.
"And as for her Knightmare?"Rin added. "A heavy metal of destruction."
Rin checked another file in her laptop and saw it had the title 'Code-R' on it.
"What do we have here."Rin murmured.
"What is it, Rin?"Naoto questioned.
"It seems the late Viceroy Prince Clovis had his own private yet corrupted enterprise."Rin complemented as she checked information of the 'Code-R' file. "Code-R. A research branch and its own division of soldiers. It has several projects, both active and defunct. Mostly, inhumane experiments. Must be the reason why he ordered the massacre in Shinjuku."
"Causes a massacre to cover his dirty little secret?"Naoto retorted and scoffed. "How corrupt can the members of Britannia's Royal Family get?"
Rin fiddled with the Fabergé surprise locket egg that was attached on her necklace.
"Not all of them are bad, Naoto."Rin assured. "There are members of the royal family, who don't agree with the Emperor's ideals and try to make the world a more peaceful place. Unfortunately, those members are regard as weaklings."
"I guess you're right."Naoto replied."Like Princess Euphemia. Though, she is more like a person that could work in a kindergarten than being in the battlefield. A little strange that she's actually the Sub-Viceroy."
"Yeah."Rin responded and thought in her mind. "Which makes me often wonder who's idea actually was to give her that dangerous role."
The brunette then changes the subject.
"Anyway, I've got the next order from Zero."Rin declared. "He wants us and the Black Knights to go aid the Japan Liberation Front in the Narita Mountains."
"The JLF?"Naoto asked. "Even after what Colonel Kusakabe did?"
"I know it sounds absurd, but the JLF is the biggest group in Japan."Rin exclaimed. "They would still be bitter towards us after the death of Kusakabe, but we still have to help them. Otherwise, Cornelia and her forces will wipe them all out."
Naoto thought for a moment before responding to the brunette.
"You make a good point, Rin."Naoto stated. "If the JLF join us, it would mean more support and alliances for the Black Knights."
Rin smirked. "Exactly."
"I'll tell Kallen and the others."Naoto commented. "See you later."
"Bye."Rin answered.
Rin then placed her phone down before relaxing on her bean bag sofa.
"Prince Clovis really was trying to hide the Emperor's secret research project. But, whatever that philanderer is scheming could probably mean nothing good."Rin thought suspiciously. "Code-R. Could that pizza girl have something to do with it? I'm going to make sure to tell Lelouch about this."
Rin placed off her laptop and placed it away before going over to her cupboard to pick up her Shade uniform.
Once she was ready, the brunette made her way to Kaguya's room.
Rin carefully slid the door open and saw Kaguya sleeping with her blanket on the floor.
She carefully placed the blanket over her cousin's body to prevent her from catching a cold and gave her a light kiss on the forehead.
"Good night, Kaguya."Rin whispered softly. "See you later."
In the Area 11 Government Bureau…
There were no words to describe how Jeremiah utterly felt after his conversation with Princess Euphemia.
Lelouch and Nunnally vi Britannia, the children of Lady Marianne were alive.
The woman to whom he had sworn his loyalty was a commoner and yet she had become a Knight of the Round and was one of the strongest fighters in all of Britannia.
He couldn't believe it at first, but it was all true.
And they were living in Ashford Academy under the protection of the Ashfords for the last seven years.
However, he swore to Princess Euphemia that he won't tell anyone.
Not even Princess Cornelia.
This confused him at first, but Jeremiah then realised the vi siblings didn't want to return to Pendragon to become pawns to the Emperor.
"This is a miracle! Prince Lelouch and Princess Nunnally are alive! That means I still have the chance to protect them since I wasn't able to protect you, Lady Marianne!"Jeremiah thought. "And yet, I promised Princess Euphemia I wouldn't tell anyone. But I vow to find a way to protect your children no matter what without anymore failure this time."
Inside a Warehouse…
The recruits of the Black Knights were surprised as they stared at the new designed Knightmare Frames in front of them.
Their hideout was very lively and animated due to Kyoto sending them goods and materials to support them after having acknowledged the Black Knights' activities.
"Wow! It's amazing!"
"These are Glasgows, aren't they?"
"Burais, a Japanese modification."
"I've never seen these before."
"Man! The Black Knights have gotta some serious muscle."
"It wasn't easy to sign up with the BK."
"So that makes us special. Huh? We're elites."
In a different part of the room, the core members of the Black Knights being the former members of Naoto's group were looking at two different Knightmares that stood next to each other.
The first Knightmare was in a vibrant red colour that had a silver face and blue eyes. It had a gun built onto its left arm with its right arm being silver and a five-fingered clawed hand at the end.
The second Knightmare was dark pink with a bright bronze face and sapphire blue eyes. It had a bronze claw hand as its left arm and a rifle gun on its right arm. There was a blade-like weapon attached on its back.
The first one that was red was known as the Guren MK-II.
The second that was the dark pink one was known as the Rosen.
"Those guys from Kyoto, they believed in us."Sugiyama remarked. "They sent us this."
"It looks that way."Naoto responded.
Kallen and Rin stared at the two Knightmares.
"Completely made Japanese Knightmares."Yoshida commented.
"A Guren MK-II."Kallen said.
"And the Rosen."Rin murmured.
"Did you check up the manual?"Minami asked.
"I'm really loving this."Tamaki sneered with a grin. "The big shots in Kyoto are recognizing us. We've got their approval."
"Tamaki!"A female voice called out. "Would you show me how to use this equipment here?"
"Sure."Tamaki answered. "Hang on, I'll be right there."
Tamaki began walking away causing Inoue, Sugiyama and Yoshida to follow after him.
"Newbies."Inoue said. "What are you gonna do?"
Rai walked over to Naoto, Kallen and Rin after helping out a few new members of the Black Knights with their Burais.
"So this is the Guren MK-II?"Rai assumed.
"Yes, Rai."Kallen answered. "It's said that its momentum/speed per unit time is 1.6 times better than the Britannian army's main unit, the Sutherland."
Naoto looked down causing Rin to look at him.
"What's wrong, Naoto?"Rin asked.
"Kyoto has been backing multiple resistance groups recently."Naoto complemented. "Then if they're giving us supplies, I guess this means they're also testing us to see if we are worthy."
"Worthy?"Kallen said in confusion.
"That's correct, Naoto."
Then footsteps were heard behind the Kozuki siblings and their companions causing them to turn around to see Zero coming forward from the shadows.
"This is merely a test they put to us."Zero stated.
"So, what if it is?"Kallen responded. "This is still incredible."
Zero then tossed a red key too Kallen and she caught it.
"What's this?"Kallen asked.
"The Guren MK-II is yours now, Kallen."Zero declared.
"Mine? But we have a lot more people now, and we can't afford to lose you."Kallen insisted. "We need the Guren's defence to protect you."
"You're a top-notch pilot. I'm a commander."Zero stated. "I'll use a Burai."
Naoto smiled at Kallen.
"You're already shown to be a strong and talented pilot, Kallen."Naoto remarked. "And besides, me and the Yamato Alliance have already our own Knightmares to pilot."
Kallen nodded. "Right."
Rai then brought his attention on Zero.
"Hey, Zero."Rai spoke up."As well as Knightmares, we've prepared every kind of firearms and even evacuating equipment. This is not a hiking trip, correct?"
"Indeed."Zero said with a nod. "Thanks to Rin, I have received information that Cornelia and her forces will be on the move to the Narita Mountains. But it is also where the base of the Japan Liberation Front is rumoured to be there. We'll be heading there this weekend to face against Cornelia and her forces in that very location."
"Fight Cornelia and her forces?"Kallen said in surprise.
"Not only that."Rin replied as she held the bright pink key that was to activate the Rosen. "We'll be helping out the Japan Liberation Front."
"Help out the Japan Liberation Front?"Rai questioned.
"It's surprising, but think about it."Naoto suggested. "We know the Japan Liberation Front aren't too fond of us for the death of Kusakabe and his subordinates. But if we aid them, they'll likely understand us more and the Black Knights will become stronger with their support."
Kallen and Rai both were silent as everything made sense in Zero's plan.
If the Black Knights aided the Japan Liberation Front, their members would become their allies.
But only if General Katase would want them to that is.
"That is a good plan."Kallen said.
"Absolutely."Rai agreed.
"The Narita Mountains will also be where the Guren MK-II and the Rosen make their debuts."Zero declared. "That means we're counting on you two, Kallen and Rin."
"Yes, sir!"Kallen and Rin replied in unison.
The Next Morning…
Sometime after finishing their morning lessons in Ashford Academy, Alice and Nunnally were bringing back a couple of library books that they used to help in their studies.
"Really! That Student Council President!"Alice scowled. "Though we're not really members, she's really using us like crazy! Recently, she said something about doing an 'All Day Swimsuits Festival' just because she felt like wearing some really scanty swimsuit! What is she thinking?!"
Alice shivered uncomfortably of the recent conversation she had with Milly causing Nunnally to lightly sigh.
"Something the matter, Nunna?"Alice asked. "You look so down."
"Am I?"Nunnally questioned. "I'm fine as always."
A smirk sprung on Alice's face.
"Nunnally, you are terrible when it comes to lying."Alice stated. "Is it a problem you can't discuss with your best friend?"
"That's not it-"Nunnally started.
Alice smiled and let out a chuckle.
"I'm just joking."Alice assured with a wink. "But if its something within my power, just ask me."
"Thank you, Alice."Nunnally responded. "I just feel a little worried."
"Worried?"Alice said in confusion.
"About the Emperor…my father."Nunnally admitted as she gripped the books in her hands a bit tighter. "I love being here in Ashford Academy with my big brother, Rin, Suzaku and the rest of the Student Council. But if we get discovered by the Britannian soldiers, I-"
Alice placed her books down to hold Nunnally's trembling hands.
"Hey. It's okay, Nunnally."Alice assured, comforting her best friend. "I promise I won't let anything happen to you. Beside being your best friend, I promise to be your shield."
Nunnally smiled softly at Alice.
"Thank you, Alice."Nunnally answered.
In the Narita Mountains…
Two soldiers of the Japan Liberation Front were inside a warehouse, playing Hop Ching checkers and patrolling the area they were in.
"Sector five, nothing to report."the first soldier informed on his communicator. "Right. The next scheduled report will be in two hours."
"Of course, there's nothing to report."the second soldier commented. "This area's controlled by the Japan Liberation Front. No one can just stroll in…"
Then Zero opened the door and walked into the warehouse, shocking the second soldiers.
"Zero!"
"Relax, I only came to talk."Lelouch declared as he took off his mask. "I want you to ignore any unusual activity during your watch."
Lelouch activated his Geass and the two soldiers fell into his influence.
"Sure, no problem."the two soldiers answered in unison.
The two soldiers then went back to play Hop Ching checkers.
"Come on, it's your turn."the second soldier informed.
"What's the rush?"the first soldier asked. "We're just on regular duty, you know."
At the Base of the Narita Mountains…
Naoto, Kallen, Rai and the rest of the Black Knights were making their way up the mountains and picked up Zero's signal from the Factsphere Sensors from their Knightmare Frames.
Rai's Knightmare (known as the Gekka) was deep blue with a cyclops-like head and orange eye-units. It had a gun built onto its right arm with what appeared to be a large sheathed katana on its right side. It's left arm stuck out as being primarily silver with a red claw-like device at the end.
"I've confirmed the signal from Zero."Minami informed. "We're now moving to waypoint 2."
"Hey."Tamaki spoke up. "Why doesn't Zero just use the radio in his Burai?"
"Because the Britannian army will likely pick up his signal and shoot us on sight."Rai complemented.
"Right."Tamaki replied.
"What about Shade?"Kallen asked.
"She probably went on ahead."Naoto assumed.
Inside the Warehouse…
Zero was sitting on a chair and reading a book with his mask laying on the table.
"The day I've waited for has finally come, Cornelia."Lelouch sneered.
Lelouch looked outside, only to see C.C standing there.
In the G-1 Mobile Base…
Darlton turned on the monitor to show the map and the signatures of the units to the li sisters and their staff officers.
"We're certain that the Japan Liberation Front headquarters are in this area."Darlton exclaimed."We've already split 4 battalions into seven units and hidden them in the vicinity."
Darlton then turned his attention to Cornelia, who was sitting on her throne chair.
"We've only to wait for the viceroy signal."Darlton stated."Then we'll surround them in one fell swoop and wipe them out."
"And are you confident that the enemy won't show up outside the encirclement line?"Euphemia asked.
This caused Darlton and the other staff officers to turn their attention to Euphemia.
"You mean Zero?"Cornelia assumed.
"Have no fear about that."Darlton assured. "As the operation begins, we'll be blocking off the surrounding highways and mountain routes also."
"Plus, we have reserve units."Cornelia commented. "If his stupid enough to show up, it'll be the end of him."
In Ashford Academy…
Nina spoke to Milly in the Student Council room on wanting to meet Princess Euphemia.
"What? You want meet her? Are you kidding?"Milly questioned in disbelief. "Do you know who you're talking about? She's a princess and you're just a citizen. What do you have in common aside from that hotel jacking."
"Yes, but…as for Princess Euphemia, I never got to thank her."Nina admitted softly.
"Hm…there was a time when my family name had the influence to arrange that."Milly admitted while sitting on the table and kicking her legs up and down."So, tell me, Nina, do you know what the social status is of a principal's granddaughter?"
"Um…not a very high one?"Nina suggested.
"Correct."Milly responded with a unfazed expression. "Not very."
In the Narita Mountains...
Lelouch went outside the warehouse to talk to C.C.
"C.C, what are you doing here?"Lelouch asked.
"I said that I would protect you, didn't I?"C.C reminded.
This caused Lelouch to become annoyed.
"I don't need or require your protection."Lelouch scowled. "Especially, from someone who happens to be hiding things from me."
"Lelouch, whatever I'm not telling you is because I'm keeping a promise."C.C informed. "It's for your own good."
Lelouch scoffed. "Like I'll believe that."
"I've been wondering about something, Lelouch."C.C said. "Why are you, Lelouch?"
"I don't have time to discuss philosophy with you."Lelouch retorted.
"You changed your family sir name to Lamperouge, but you kept Lelouch the name that was given to you at birth."C.C exclaimed. "How sentimental. You can't let go of the past."
"Well, C.C swings to the other extreme, doesn't it?"Lelouch commented. "It's not a human name."
"Lelouch, do you know why snow is white?"C.C asked, causing Lelouch to become confused. "Snow is white because it's forgotten what colour it's supposed to be."
Lelouch slightly frowned at the immortal witch before he made his way to his Burai.
Princess Cornelia and her forces were inside their Knightmare preparing for the battle against the JLF as they stood outside the G-1 Mobile Base.
"All units are in position."A soldier informed.
"Understood."Cornelia responded. "Euphemia will provide logistical support From G-1 as planned. Have her command medical group."
"Yes, Your Highness."the soldier replied.
Guilford then contacted his princess.
"Princess Cornelia."Guilford spoke up.
"Guilford, let me guess."Cornelia responded. "This is about Euphie, isn't it?"
"Yes."Guilford agreed. "She really should be in a government agency. Not here".
"But she's being unusually stubborn about this."Cornelia complemented with a slight smile."She told me she wanted to see actual combat for herself."
Zero and Shade were at the summit of the mountain and the rest of the Black Knights were using their Knightmare to excavate the ground and place electrodes in the location they were in.
Shade was inside the Rosen, typing in her small laptop to hack into the security system to put warning signals throughout the areas below Narita to stay away from those places.
"This should give a warning to all civilians to stay away from all parts around Narita."Shade thought. "Especially, what Zero is planning to do."
Naoto went over to Zero.
"Zero."Naoto spoke up. "It is almost time, right?"
"Yes."Zero agreed with a nod. "Our opponent is Cornelia, whose forces are among the best Britannia has to offer. If this works, we'll cut down more than half her forces."
"Then this is obviously going to be a battle that is going to be harder than any other."Naoto complemented and looked down. "Though I can't help but wonder."
"Something troubles you?"Zero questioned.
"It is something that I've been thinking for a while, Zero."Naoto assured. "Every one of us has a role to play here in the Black Knights. Even you, our leader. You can miraculously see where your opponent's soldiers are positioned and what you plan for us to do. But there is still a possibility that things can go wrong and we all must be willing to adapt when that happens."
From behind his mask, Lelouch looked at Naoto as he continued talking.
"My best friend Ohgi was killed in a mission that me and my comrades voted to take part in saving several people in the ghettos. Even though, I completely thought we all would make it out alive."Naoto stated with a hint of guilt. "When that happened, I felt at fault and wanted to abandon my comrades and the idea of fighting Britannia. But a part of me kept telling to keep going forward. I was the one who chose to fight and encouraged them in doing so instead of being an Honorary Britannian like Kururugi."
Naoto let out a sigh before a firm look appeared on his face.
"Overall, I'm saying we should stay alert on the battlefield and not let our pride get the best of us."Naoto admitted. "Always keep an open mind no matter what."
A smile sprung on Zero's hidden face.
"I see."Zero responded. "Thank you for the advice, Naoto Kozuki."
In the G-1 Mobile Base…
Euphemia looked over the map of Narita and all the units in place with Cornelia's staff officers.
The third Princess of Britannia then noticed a particular unit.
"What's that unit there holding to the rear?"Euphemia asked.
"Our reserve force with an Eleven pilot."the first staff officer said.
"What?"Euphemia questioned in surprise. "You mean that's the Lancelot?"
"As a rule, Numbers aren't permitted to operate Knightmares."the second staff officer exclaimed. "But that particular unit is an exception."
"The second prince is the patron of that unit. We have no say over their personal selection."the third staff officer stated. "But he said he wants them to have as many chances at real combat as possible."
A smile sprung on Shade's face when she finished typing and sending a warning to the civilians that lived in the town below the Narita Mountains to evacuate the area.
"Yes."Shade remarked. "That way no lives will be lost in this outcome."
Cornelia was in her Gloucester, ready to start the fight to eliminate the Japan Liberation Front.
"Viceroy, it's time."Darlton declared.
"Right."Cornelia responded with a smug smile. "Commence operation."
Cornelia pressed a button activating her Gloucester and left the G-1 as she was ready to destroy the Japan Liberation Front.
"You, the Japan Liberation Front."Cornelia sneered. "You, who time has left behind. You, who have forgotten basic human decency. You and your dream of a bygone golden age shall fall and rot to nothingness."
The rest of Princess Cornelia's forces were making their move within the Narita Mountains heading in with the intent to wipe out the Japan Liberation Front.
Some came out from several cargo trains around the area, the evacuated city and even those that dropped from airplanes above and into the forests below.
Inside the Base of the Japan Liberation Front…
General Katase frowned at the enemies appearance on the screen as he stood next to his soldiers.
"We're under enemy attack?"General Katase questioned.
"Yes, sir."A soldier responded with a salute. "The Britannian forces have completely encircled the Narita mountains. We've counted over a hundred units."
Zero, Shade and the Black Knights saw the aircraft circling the area as they stood in the summit of the Narita Mountains.
"It has began."Zero stated.
"Huh? What the hell? You've gotta be kidding."Tamaki complained. "Those troops coming in have this whole area totally surrounded. There's no way out."
Zero nodded in agreement.
"We've already been cut off."Zero informed. "Our only chance of survival is to fight."
This statement aroused cries of outrage among the Black Knights.
"What?"Inoue said in shock. "We can't fight the Britannians."
"Let me get this straight."Tamaki retorted. "We're surrounded and you want us to fight them head on?"
"We're fighting against Cornelia!"Sugiyama argued. "Her forces are far stronger than any we've encountered!"
"Correct."Zero agreed. "It would be a miracle if we win this."
"Zero, you're saying-"Naoto started calmly.
"Now look, the price of this isn't going to be cheap! The price of this can be our lives!"Tamaki yelled out angrily. "I knew it was insane to make you our leader! It should be me!"
"Enough!"Shade yelled out.
Shade angrily slammed her fist in the cockpit of the Rosen, earning everyone's attention.
"Listen, I'm scared as all of you are! But look how far we have come thanks to Zero! If it weren't for him, we all ended up being Honorary Britannians or probably killed in the ghettos like many others!"Shade retorted, her voice with an firm yet strict tone. "You all wanted a chance to fight against Britannia and now you want to backdown?! And for what? Look what Britannia has done to your lives, your families and your freedom? It's only gonna get worse unless we stand up and fight back!"
Naoto then stepped forward to go between the Rosen and Zero.
"Shade is right."Naoto stated bravely. "We have to stand up together. Because that's when we're strongest as one. It won't be easy. There will be loss and sacrifice. But we can't back down just because we're afraid. That's when we need to stand the tallest."
This caused Kallen, Rai and the rest of the Black Knights to become stunned at Shade and Naoto, who were willing to stand up and fight alongside Zero, despite the overwhelming odds.
"Since you've joined the Black Knights, you knew this would happen."Zero informed in a calm yet strict tone. "You join a fight against the full force of Britannia that won't be easy like Naoto said. But if you choose to stay that is your decision. It is up to you. Leave now and go live a life of prejudice or fight to protect this nation from the grip of Britannia."
Inside the Base of the Japan Liberation Front…
General Katase was getting reports that his soldiers were losing ground and Cornelia's forces were closing in on them.
"We're completely surrounded and our underground reserve forces were captured all at once!"
"General Katase! We've received the message from Cornelia's forces demanding our surrender!"
"Imbecile!"General Katase scowled. "If we fall here then we've lost and the whole resistant movement falls with us!"
"Then general, do we engage the enemy in battle or do we dig in?"A soldier suggested.
"What about Tohdoh?"General Katase questioned. "Where is he?"
"He's gone to Kyoto."Another soldier reported. "To get the custom Burais. The Four Holy Swords are travelling with him too. If they're on schedule, they should be returning soon. But…"
"Tohdoh won't make it in time."General Katase muttered before looking up to give an order. "Prepare to send out the Burais. We'll break the encirclement on one side and evacuate. We'll show them the Japanese spirit and pride. This is our moment of truth."
In the G-1 Mobile Base…
Euphemia and Cornelia's staff officers were going through the operations' logistics.
"We believe that the enemy's main base is located in the mountains here."the first staff officer reported on a digital map. "But we haven't pinpointed it yet. However, until we obtain a list of their collaborators, we can't burn down everything with our aerial bombing."
"The enemy will try to engage our encirclement and break through at some point."the second staff officer reported. "From there, we will be able to ascertain where their base is."
"Our forces are divided into three fronts."the third staff officer reported. "The units let by General Darlton here, General Alex here and Viceroy Cornelia here."
Suddenly, the map screen cut off by static and electric interference, surprising Euphemia.
"It's enemy ECM."the first staff officer commented.
Darlton was inside his Gloucester and was getting reports on the Japan Liberation Front's Burais making their move as he led the other Knightmares.
"The main enemy force should be coming out anytime now. We're switching to ECCM mode, link up on channel alfa four."Darlton ordered. "The enemy what are we calling them again?"
"Burais, sir."A soldier answered.
"Right. The rather like pseudo-Glasgow."Darlton stated. "So watch out for them."
"Yes, my Lord."All the soldiers responded in unison.
On the other side of the slope, Burais piloted by members of the JLF came out from the ground to face Cornelia's group and made trees on the mountain move.
"How clever."Cornelia said with a smile. "They turned this whole mountain into a fortress."
"Your Highness, please fallback."Guilford suggested.
A frown appeared on Cornelia's face.
"Guilford, don't treat me as though I'm another one of your women."Cornelia stated.
Cornelia went on ahead with Jousting Lance in hand with speed.
"Princess Cornelia!"Guilford called out.
The 2nd Princess of Britannia continued rushing and faced the Burais from the JLF.
The Burais tried shooting at Cornelia, but she was too fast for them and easily eliminated them.
Cornelia shot her slash harken at the tanks to destroy them and used her Jousting Lance to impale the last Burai, killing the pilot in it.
"Right."Guilford agreed with a smile. "Well, then I'll cover you from the rear."
The purple hair princess then called out to her enemies through her Gloucester's speakers.
"Cornelia is here!"Cornelia announced."Is there no one who will challenge me?"
Zero, Shade and Naoto were waiting for the rest of the Black Knights to make their decisions.
"So what have you all chosen?"Zero questioned. "Will you run or stand with us to fight?"
A confident smile sprung on Kallen's face as she stood on the Guren.
"I'm staying, Zero."Kallen declared.
"So am I."Rai remarked. "I can't stand seeing Britannians keep taking whatever they want from others."
This caused the rest of the Black Knights to agree with them, no longer feeling scared.
"I want to stay!"
"Me too!"
Naoto smirked in approval before glancing at Tamaki, who scoffed in defeat.
"What about you, Tamaki?"Naoto asked.
"Fine."Tamaki retorted. "Do want you want."
"We acknowledge you as our leader, Zero."Sugiyama assured.
A smile sprung from Zero's hidden face.
"Thank you very much."Zero responded. "I really appreciate it."
Shade nodded in approval that all members of the Black Knights have agreed to fight against Cornelia and her forces.
At the Bottom of the Narita Mountains…
A truck was driving past the streets and announced an evacuation order to the civilians in the town.
"An evacuation order has been issued for this area!"A soldier informed."Anyone remaining must evacuate at once! I repeat! An evacuation order has been issued for this area!"
A research team on the Code-R project were trying to figure out what to do since they were busy working in their research lab.
Among them were Joseph Fenette; Shirley's father.
"If the military should find the experimental data on Code-R, it's all over."the first researcher warned.
"Oh my."the second researcher commented. "Being inside the terrorist area, we thought it would be difficult for them to discover us."
"This was all General Bartley's decision, so there's no use in complaining about it." Another researcher said.
Cornelia's Gloucester and her forces sweep through the defences that the Japan Liberation Front had up against them.
"They're too fragile."Cornelia scoffed.
"The enemy seems to be concentrated over here."Darlton exclaimed. "This maybe the target. Split up now."
Inside the Base of the Japan Liberation Front…
General Katase and his soldiers were becoming more worried as Cornelia's forces wiped out their defences.
"No good."A soldier said. "Our second attack wave had no effect."
"Their sheer dominance is insurmountable."General Katase retorted.
Darlton and his unit arrived at an area with a huge ledge ahead of them.
One of the soldiers contacted Darlton.
"General Darlton, based on the analysis of the enemy's movements, I've determined that the entrance to the JLF main base is that lodge located up on the mountain."the soldier reported.
Darlton smirked. "I believe the proper word for this situation is 'Bingo'."
"Well, to be more precise sir…"the soldier started.
"Oh just call it and already, Mr. Literal."Darlton insisted.
A signal flare was shot in the sky causing Cornelia's unit to see it.
"Is that…Darlton?"Cornelia asked.
"So, that's where the main enemy base is located?"Guilford assumed.
"Right."Cornelia agreed. "We'll be securing our position here."
"Are you sure about this?"Guilford questioned.
"I don't need to steal achievements from my subordinates."Cornelia stated and gave out an order. "Send reserve force to back up Darlton. Looks like he'll be getting another medal."
Lelouch took off his mask as he sat on his Burai to check the battle's progress.
"Impressive as always Cornelia, a very logical deployment. As expected from the Goddess of Victory."Lelouch commented. "However, excellent though it is, it's also easy to read as is your location."
Jeremiah, Villetta and the last members of the Pureblood faction were at the very rear of all the action that was going on.
"I thought the reserve units were supposed to be assigned to General Darlton."Jeremiah said.
"That's right, they were."Villetta responded. "But our unit has to secure the rear line of Viceroy Cornelia."
"You mean this is the rear line?"Jeremiah asked. "You can't get any further away from the battlefield. How am I going to redeem my reputation out here if I'm not even near the fighting?"
Inside the Base of the Japan Liberation Front…
General Katase clenched his fists in frustration as he heard more of his defences getting easily wiped out quickly.
"We've lost contact with Nakamura's unit."
"No response from sector three!"
"Major Tabata has been killed!"
"Kurota and Kurata are gone too!"
"What about Nagai?"
"Where's Tohdoh?"General Katase retorted impatiently. "If only he were here the divine wind would blow. We'd have another miracle of Itsukushima."
Tohdoh and the Four Holy Swords drove two large trucks through the roadblocks set up by the military as fast as they could.
"Sir, don't you think this is a little extreme?"Asahina asked.
"Asahina, Chiba, prep the custom Burais ASAP. Tell Urabe and Senba behind us to do the same."Tohdoh ordered. "Traffic is blocked off all around Narita. They've already begun to attack. I just pray that we are in time."
Darlton smirked as he and his unit got closer to the base of the Japan Liberation Front.
"Now any resistance still remaining in Area 11…"Darlton sneered.
"…will soon be finished."Cornelia finished with a smug look.
At the summit of the Narita Mountains, Zero and the Black Knights were preparing to strike.
"Right, all preparations have now been completed!"Zero informed. "Black Knights, prepare to move out!"
The Black Knights all readied their Knightmares.
Shade, Kallen and Rai readied their Rosen, Guren and Gekka as well.
"We'll make a miracle happen!"
"Yeah, we'll have Zero with us!"
"We, the Black Knights, are going to launch a surprise attack on the Britannians from the summit of the mountain!"Zero announced. "Per my instructions, you will charge on most down toward point three. And the intent of this operation is to capture Cornelia, second Princess of Britannia!"
Naoto activated his Knightmare as he contacted his sister.
"Kallen, are you ready?"Naoto asked. "Our breakthrough route will be opened by the Guren Mk-II. You need to use penetrating electrode number three to settle things with one blow."
"Yes, big brother."Kallen answered.
The Guren moved its way over to the electrode and placed its Radiant Wave Surger onto the top.
"Got it. Output confirmed."Kallen stated as she pressed a button on a switch. "Wave surger level is ready and holding. Activating gun bullet now!"
The Guren activated the Radiant Wave Surger and shot a powerful surge of thermal energy through the electrode and deep into the underground water supply.
An empty cartridge was then ejected from the gauntlet and then the whole ground began to rumble.
"It worked!"Kallen remarked happily.
A gigantic rockslide goes down the mountain.
C.C. sees the carnage from a close yet safe distance, while the rocks devastate forces of all kinds on its way down, including Darlton, as well as forces in the city.
In the G-1 Mobile Base…
Euphemia was shocked as she and the officers saw on the radar half their forces had been buried.
"What's happening?!"Euphemia demanded.
"Impossible!"the first staff officer shouted. "How could a landslide come out of nowhere!"
"Alex and Darlton's units are getting wiped out!"the second staff officer reported.
Darlton made his Gloucester used one of his Slash Harkens to keep himself from being swept away.
"Climb!"Darlton demanded. "Get to higher ground!"
Overcoming her shock, Cornelia immediately demanded a report on the losses.
"Status report!"Cornelia demanded.
"We're still trying to confirm!"A soldier answered.
Guilford watched in shock as their own Knightmares consumed and wiped out by the landslide.
"Your highness, fall back!"Guilford insisted. "You're in danger there!"
"I don't care! Forget about me!"Cornelia snapped. "Find out about Darlton! And where's Alex?!"
The rockslide ended by stopping into the city and leaving a mudslide throughout the area with little damage.
In the A.S.E.E.C Trailer…
Lloyd looked amused as he saw the landslide's readings on his computer.
"Oh my, it's already made its way to the bottom."Lloyd sneered.
"These heat-readings are abnormal!"Cecile exclaimed. "Do you believe a hydro-volcanic eruption was artificially induced?!"
"Impossible."Lloyd remarked. "Unless of course someone used Rakshata's Radiant Wave Surger."
Suzaku sat on the open cockpit of the Lancelot as he glanced at his companions.
"Hey, has something happened?"Suzaku asked.
"Aha. But it is has nothings to do with us."Lloyd admitted. "So just relax and continue waiting."
Lelouch had a triumph smirk on his face as he stared at the destruction caused by the landslide.
"Heh. It's even more destructive than I anticipated."Lelouch thought."We did succeed in isolating Cornelia's unit but we could've been a bit more accurate. Perhaps I should've consulted a physics teacher or ask Nina to tutor me in probability."
Shade gives the order to the Black Knights to attack.
"This is our chance, everyone!"Shade declared. "Let's do this!"
Cornelia was still in shock over what had just happened when she received a communication from one of her soldiers.
"New enemy force confirmed moving in from the summit."A soldier reported. "Carius unit is moving to engage them."
"Hoping to take advantage of all the confusion, are they?"Cornelia asked.
"Emergency call from Carius unit."A second soldier stated.
"What's wrong?!"Cornelia demanded.
"It's not the Japan liberation Front!"the second replied."They think it's the Black Knights!"
"What?!"Cornelia retorted. "Then it's-"
"Zero!"Jeremiah remarked in joy. "How dare he show up here, Zero!"
Jeremiah's Sutherland moved from where it stood.
"Lord Jeremiah, you can't just abandon your post!"Villetta protested.
"This requires drastic measures!"Jeremiah responded. "If you want glory in life, then follow me!"
Inside Zero's Burai…
Lelouch gives his orders to the Black Knights.
"Cornelia has only limited reinforcements headed her way!"Zero announced. "Smash right through them!"
The Black Knights were divided into several groups as they led their Knightmares down the mountain.
"Yeah!"Tamaki sneered. "We can do this now!"
"You said it!"Yoshida agreed.
The Black Knights started fighting against the units of the Britannian army.
Shade made the Rosen dash to slice off the gun-arm off of a Sutherland before slicing the Knightmare in half with her blade-like weapon before it exploded.
Inoue led a group back for the main unit.
"All right everybody? You know the game plan."Inoue instructed while holding her binoculars. "Our job is to watch their backs."
Inoue eyed the tank approaching until it came to the right spot.
"Get ready? Fire!"Inoue ordered.
The group fired at the tank and it got destroyed.
Jeremiah notice his monitor was showing units being destroyed by the Black Knights.
"The enemy's taken out Carius's unit?"Jeremiah said in surprise. "If I can finish this before Zero reaches Princess Cornelia, then I'll be golden."
"Lord Jeremiah."Villetta spoke up.
"Villetta you came."Jeremiah remarked. "I knew that you would."
The Black Knights mobilize six of their Burais against Cornelia's reinforcements and wipe out a whole platoon with Zero in one with a red-and-gold crown.
"Burn the bridges behind you and keep your back to the wall."Zero commented smugly. "Classical strategies remain effective ones, don't they?"
Jeremiah takes out two of the Burais and confronts Zero's Knightmare.
"Is Zero here? If he is, then face me!"Jeremiah called out. "Come forward and fight Jeremiah Gottwald!"
"Well, well, it's been a while Jeremiah. So you're still in the army?"Zero said smugly. "I'd love to stay and catch up. But I'm afraid I don't have time right this minute, Orange Boy."
This snapped Jeremiah's nerve.
"Orange?!"Jeremiah scowled. "DIE!"
Jeremiah's Sutherland charged to kill Zero, but the Guren suddenly knocked away his gun effortlessly.
"Lord Jeremiah!"Villetta shouted.
"Stay out of this!"Jeremiah demanded. "This is my duel!"
"But look at it, I've never seen a Knightmare like that before!"Villetta protested. "Is it possible that the Elevens have…"
"You think Elevens are capable of such technology?"Jeremiah retorted.
From inside his Gekka, Rai spoke to Kallen.
"Hey, Kallen. Looks like we have someone who doesn't believe we have strength."Rai complemented smugly. "Have at it."
"With pleasure!"Kallen answered.
Jeremiah's Sutherland attacked with his tonfas, but the Guren was able to block it using its silver claw.
Kallen made the Guren spun around the Sutherland.
The Sutherland tried to attack her, only for the Guren to nimbly jump higher than any other Knightmare could jump before.
Jeremiah made his Sutherland move out of the way, narrowly avoiding the Guren's kick.
"It's fast."Jeremiah said in disbelief. "This thing, is this what destroyed Carius's unit?"
"Yeah! That's right, Britannia!"Kallen announced confidently. "We can finally go up against you on equal footing head on! And our counter attack begins with this baby the Guren MK-II!"
Kallen drove the Guren's knife straight at the Sutherland which was barely able to block with the tonfas it held.
The red haired girl then readied its claw.
"Oh hell! There's something on its right hand!"Jeremiah responded. "But if I keep my distance?"
Jeremiah's Sutherland only to get caught by the Guren's sharp claw.
"What's this?"Jeremiah questioned.
"Sorry."Kallen announced grimly.
Kallen activated the Guren's Radiant Wave Surger causing Jeremiah's Sutherland to start melting and boil like dough in an oven.
"What?!"Jeremiah shouted. "What the hell's happening?!"
"Lord Jeremiah, eject!"Villetta demanded.
"I can't run now! Zero's right in front of me!"Jeremiah yelled crazily as his body began to boil from the heat. "He's standing right here! Damn it! The auto-eject! Don't you dare activate! I can still get Zero! I know it! I know I can still get him!"
Jeremiah lost consciousness as his seat ejected and flew off in the sky while his Sutherland got destroyed by the Guren.
"I won't lose!"Kallen announced bravely. "Not with this…the Guren Mk-II!"
Rai grinned at Kallen's victory.
"That was amazing!"Rai praised. "Well done, Kallen!"
Villetta was utterly shocked from seeing Jeremiah being defeated by mere Elevens.
"They defeated Lord Jeremiah! Who are the Black Knights?"Villetta asked. "Who are they, these warriors?"
Inside Zero's Burai…
A smug smile was on Lelouch's face.
"All our tasks at hand have been cleared. The pieces are in position."Lelouch thought. "The only thing left to do is check my opponent's stronghold."
Next we will see the Black Knights help the Four Holy Swords as well as the Rosen having a battle against the enemy forces.
