AN: This idea just came to me and wouldn't leave me alone until I had written it. It's a very short story and only three parts. It's only 30 pages. I hope you enjoy please review.

"We'll be at our destination in a few days Dania," Dave told his female companion.

"That's good then," Dania answered.

Dania and Dave had met over a century ago now and had been inseparable ever since. You might ask who could live for over 100 years and the answer would be dragon shifters. Dragon shifters came from a different plane that had been overtaken by those that wanted the current ruling body dead and wanted to form a new government, one of suppression and oppression.

Dave, the name he had taken when he arrived on this plane was a prince and therefore ruler of the dragon people, since his parents were assumed dead. As for Dania, she was not a dragon shifter but a witch who had been born on this plane. Since she was the mate of a dragon shifter though, she would now live just as long as Dave did. Witches as a rule, were notoriously long-lived anyway, but not as long as dragons. Dania and Dave's lifeforces were now linked due to him giving her his tooth, which he had turned into a pill so she could swallow it. Dave had barely escaped the palace on his planet with his life.

He hadn't wanted to leave but his parents had ordered him to because he was the only hope of the future of their world. He had a younger brother, but that brother had been the one that had forced him to flee as he wanted the throne for himself. Considering how long dragon shifters lived the chance that his younger brother Miles would ever rule were practically nil, not unless he, his father and mother were dead. Also, if Dave was to have children they would be next in line to the throne not Miles, which was another reason his brother wanted him dead. Miles was ambitious though and so got supporters behind him and started a rebellion that lasted for decades until the coup. The coup had started out as subtle little lies meant to get the people stirred up and then, Miles had to convince some of the nobles to follow him, nobles that never had liked the way his parents had ruled. Nobles who were greedy and wanted to raise taxes to the point that a lot of people would've been out on the street. Dave knew very well what Miles had likely promised those nobles if they succeeded. He had probably promised to raise taxes so that those nobles would get even more money than they had currently into their greedy hands. Miles and those nobles wouldn't care what they were doing to the economy with their taxation or to the people who depended on their businesses to support themselves and their families.

Dave and Dania were traveling in their motorhome which was enormous. It was certainly the largest one made. They were very few that were on the road because they were so ultraexpensive. Money however, wasn't a problem for Dave as a prince. His magic produced the amount necessary with no problem. It was a talent that only the royal family had because while other dragon shifters could produce money it disappeared after awhile. So it was only temporary, while the royal family's was permanent and you couldn't tell the difference between money produced by magic and whatever kind of money they were reproducing. While money produced by magic could technically be considered counterfeit there was absolutely no way to prove it. Centuries ago, Dave had set up an identity and a bank account with that magic produced gold so now he actually existed in this world. There hadn't been all this technology that there was today so it was much easier to create an identity. He was David Rossi a wealthy billionaire that had inherited his money,

"That sounds really good Dave," Dania answered, even as she sat beside him in the passenger seat as Dave drove.

"So about ready for some lunch?" Dave inquired.

"That sounds good," Dania agreed, even as her stomach grumbled.

"Apparently, the beast in your belly agrees with the idea of lunch," Dave teased his mate.

"So it does," Dania agreed with a laugh. "We could always fix something you know, as there's plenty of food in the back."

"True," Dave agreed. "I would like to get out and stretch my legs though so stopping for lunch is a priority."

"You have been driving since early morning," Dania agreed. "We had breakfast on the road so stopping would probably be a good idea. You're bound to be a little tired since you've done all the driving up until now. I'll take over after lunch if that's OK with you."

"That's fine," Dave agreed easily. "I am a little tired and could probably use a nap after lunch. We've been traveling for over eight hours now and this motorhome isn't exactly very easy to keep on the road."

"It's like driving a big hulking tank," Dania agreed.

"A tank would probably be easier to control," Dave snorted humor clear in his tone, even as he concentrated on the road.

"Still, at least we have plenty of room to move around," Dania said. "We aren't bumping into each other whenever we're both back there at the same time. All right, so this vehicle is huge, but so what?" Dania gestured at their surroundings. The two of them were in the front of the motorhome.

"Yeah, so what?" Dave agreed. "You have to admit though, it would be easier to find places to park if we had a smaller vehicle. The only place to park this behemoth is it an RV park and then take other transportation elsewhere. This is literally a house on wheels."

"We could always settle somewhere for a few years," Dania suggested. "It might be nice to be stationary for a change instead of always traveling from place to place. I know we bought this RV when they first started producing them which has only been a few decades."

"They've been producing them since 1910," Dave snorted, "I admit that's not very long at all considering how long lived dragon shifters are."

"We didn't buy this one until the 1960s and here it is the 21st-century," Dania said.

"Yeah, it might be time for an update," Dave admitted. "We've kept this one in tiptop shape, even if we've had to have some of the parts replaced at least once. If this thing breaks down again though, especially when we're traveling we might not be able to get replacement parts because they're not being made anymore."

"I've loved living here, but it is 50 years old or at least it will be next month," Dania said. "I have to admit it's made traveling easier than it was before these magnificent homes were invented."

"It was definitely easier to travel when cars were invented," Dave agreed.

"Yeah, I remember our first car the model T Ford Ford," Dania said smiling nostalgically. "We could probably give this RV to a automotive museum and I'm sure they'd be grateful for the donation."

"That's certainly an idea," Dave mused. "We'll have to make sure that this RV is back to the way it was when we bought it without all the modifications we've made by magic."

Both Dave and Dania had different kinds of magic and had heavily modified the inside of the RV. It was like stepping into another land entirely. They had far more space than a normal RV, because like that show Doctor Who it was bigger on the inside and the outside.

Dave was practically a bottomless well of magic and life energy because he was a dragon shifter.

Dave could get tired from using too much power at once, but a little sleep took care of that and he was back to normal within a few hours. As for Dania she also was very powerful, even without her life force being connected to Dave's. The two could feed each other power through their link if necessary and also support the other if one was seriously injured.

Being seriously injured had happened a few times in their decades together, mostly to Dania, though there had been a couple of times where Dave had nearly died and his mate had saved his life by feeding him some of her life energy until his own healing powers could take over.

"You know I'm not really looking forward to arriving at our destination," Dania commented. "You know the Hadleys daughter and I don't get along and you know the reason why, so I won't bother to repeat myself."

"She was just a kid last time we saw her. She's probably over her crush on me now," Dave offered.

"She was hardly a kid sweetie," Dania snorted. "She was in her 30s last time we saw her and yes, I realize that's young in dragon years, but it's an adult in human years. I'm warning you now if she tries any of her usual tricks on you she'll regret it. It's been 20 years since we last visited and if she doesn't behave I'm going to teach her lesson and it won't be pretty."

The threat in Dania's tone was obvious to Dave. Abigail Hadley tended to piss her off, but only because she didn't know how to not enter someone's personal space without permission.

"You do know I have absolutely no interest in Miss Abigail Hadley right?" Dave asked trying to conceal his anxiety.

"Oh, I know," Dania assured him leaning over and kissing his cheek. "It's not your loyalty I question, it's Miss Abigail's ethics. After all, we're mated, which means that Abigail should respect boundaries and leave you alone. Even if we never did officially get married."

"We could if you wanted us to," Dave offered relaxing now that he knew that Dania wasn't worried about him straying. "We are bonded and getting married might make Abigail back off. She might be under the impression that you're only a temporary distraction, as I doubt her parents told her that we are bonded as the older Hadleys would have seen it as our private business."

"Or it could cause her to act like even more of a spoiled brat we both know she is," Dania said.

"Her parents have always been loyal to the crown and will reel her in if necessary," Dave said. "I mean they spoil their daughter since she is the baby of the family. You know that she has an older brother who might be a little pretentious but not as spoiled as his sister."

"I certainly like Ramen better than I like Abigail," Dania admitted. "Ramen is a gentleman while his sister is a brat."

"Ramen was born on my world Dania. Abigail, on the other hand, was born here on earth and as I have already stated is still incredibly young by dragon standards. Because she is still considered a child by my world standards that means that she's going to remain immature for at least another 50 or 100 years."

"Full dragon shifters mature at a slower speed then half dragon shifters," Dania quoted what Dave had told her several times over the decades.

"Exactly," Dave agreed, even as he pulled into the parking lot of a fast food restaurant. "Why don't you run inside and order for both of us. You know what I like by now."

"I'll order a whole lot," Dania promised, "as I know how much you can consume at a meal. Whatever's left over we can store in the fridge that's in the back."

"Try to hurry. We are going to attract attention in this behemoth," Dave told her and Dania nodded. "There are certain disadvantages to having such a humongous vehicle. I'm actually surprised that the parking lot is big enough for our RV because it's so huge. We certainly don't find many parking lots that can fit an RV of this size, which is why I pulled in here when I saw how large the parking lot was. We should have no trouble getting back into traffic once you return."

"It also has to do with the fact that you love Chick-fil-A," Dania snorted in amusement. "I'll hurry as fast as I can," Dania promised, as she stepped down on the running board that surrounded the vehicle then hopped down to the ground before hurrying into Chick-fil-A.

Dave for his part turned off the engine and waited looking out the window to see several curious people looking at the RV. Dave knew that their vehicle was a rather unusual sight as a lot of people had never even seen one from a distance much less up close. Dave opened his door and stepped down out of the cab in order to stretch his legs as he had told Dania he would. Just being able to stand on his feet and walk around a little helped Dave immensely, though he stayed close to the RV to where it was never out of his sight. He after all had many enemies and he wouldn't put it past any of them to put a tracking spell on the RV or even an electronic bug so they would be able to follow his movements. To set him and Dania up to be killed. It never hurt to be careful.

"That's some vehicle you have there," came a male voice. The voice came closer.

"Thank you," Dave said appreciating the compliment. "It looks in good shape," said the man examining the outside. "What year is it?"

"1965, why?" Dave asked.

"This thing is an antique and worth considerable money to a museum," the man said. "I'm actually surprised it still runs. Who did you buy it off of as you don't look old enough to have bought it new."

"It doesn't matter," Dave said. "Me and my wife have enjoyed traveling in it. As for why it still runs we make sure we keep it in tiptop condition. We have a friend that has managed to get the parts for us when something breaks."

This was the truth, but not the whole truth and Dave wasn't about to tell this stranger how they had managed to get the parts to keep it running.

Technically, Dania wasn't his wife but his mate, but it amounted to the same thing, it just wasn't legal on this world without a marriage certificate. Besides, this stranger didn't need to know that he and Dania had never officially married.

"We never did introduce ourselves," the man said. "I'm Stanley Tucker. I work for a automotive museum in Los Angeles."

"Mr. Tucker, I'm David Rossi. It's a pleasure to meet you," Dave introduced himself. "You're a long way from home."

Rossi was the last name he had taken when surnames had become common. He'd had it for several centuries. He had set up the identity in order to have a bank account and Social Security number when they had become the norm.

"I'm here, because somebody wanted to sell the museum of classic car. I'm to examine it and see if these people are telling us the truth and make sure it's in good condition," Stan answered. "I'm wondering if you'd like to sell the museum your RV. It's a classic and appears to still be an excellent condition. The museum would be proud to have it on display as a pioneer of its time."

Stan handed Dave his business card and Dave read it.

"Me and Dania were discussing about getting a newer model," Dave said almost to himself. "We know it won't be long before we can't get parts when something breaks," Dave added addressing Stan directly.

"That you've been able to find parts for such an old RV up until now is practically a miracle," Stan told Dave.

"We haven't had too many problems with it breaking down so maybe it's not so surprising," Dave said.

"Eventually you will, because parts wear out," Stan said. "They made things that lasted a long time decades ago. Now the philosophy seems to be that the sooner it breaks, the sooner you have to spend the money to replace it. I mean just look at this RV. It's still running and it was built in 1965."

Stanley Tucker sounded so astonished Dave nearly laughed. He couldn't really blame the man for being so surprised that the RV we're still running though.

"Therefore, broadening the companies own bottom line," Dave said snorting in agreement tucking the business card into his pocket. "A new one probably won't last half as long. I'll certainly consider your offer Mr. Tucker and discuss it with my wife, as it's just as much her decision as it is mine. It was nice meeting you, but I see my wife walking across the parking lot, so it's time for us to go."

"It was nice meeting you to Mr. Rossi," Stan said shaking Dave's hand before he headed back to his own car. Dave jump back into the RV, his movements fluid and graceful, leaving the door open so he could help with the food.

"Here let me help you," Dave said. Dave took one of the huge bags from his mate while the Chick-fil-A employee was carrying the milkshakes Dania had gotten.

"You must be wanting to feed a lot of people sir," the server told Dave, even as she passed him the takeout container that held the milkshakes. Dave took it and put the milkshakes in the cupholder then crumpled up the container that had been holding them.

"Thank you so much for your help ma'am," Dave told the server politely, even as he and Dania walked around the front pf the RV. Dave helped his wife up behind the wheel. Dave then ran around and got into the passenger seat, while Dania started the engine.

"We need to reach the RV park before nightfall," Dave told Dania, even as she drove out of the parking lot. "You know, they never had something similar on my plane," Dave said, even as he sipped his milkshake emphasizing his point. "You know there are many things that I've enjoyed ever since I came to this plane that they don't have back home and I'm definitely gonna miss them if we ever manage to dispose of Miles who is ruling like a dictator."

"I'm sure we both will miss a lot of things that are common on this world if and that's a very big if, we manage to kill Miles," Dania offered.

"I just hate to think of all the suffering that the people are likely going through, things like very high taxes," Dave said. "Who knows how many people have been made destitute due to Miles and the nobles."

"I know it's sad, but there's really nothing we can do about it right now," Dania offered. "Maybe someday we'll be able to kill Miles and you can take over, but that's not a problem for right now. We have plenty of other problems to deal with before we even think about going back to your original world and dealing with your brother and those that betrayed you and the crown."

"You're absolutely right," Dave agreed, even as he took another sip of his milkshake.

Dave passed Dania one of the sandwiches she had gotten from Chick-fil-A and she bit into it even as she guided the RV out of the parking lot the bulk of it making that harder then a smaller vehicle would have, but she managed.
