The One Who Came Back

Chapter 47: Vulpesregina's Adventures

In the following days, Vulpes was introduced to her new home and its residents. The Pleiades always assisted in taking care of her when they weren't busy.

When Entoma took her to Arwintar, the fox immediately became friends with the twins under Inta's care. They played so much that it was almost impossible to separate them when it was time to leave.

Inside the Tomb, there was never a shortage of attention. The homunculus maids were delighted to learn that someone from Nazarick now had a daughter.

The Floor Guardians discussed and held several meetings to figure out their master's intentions in allowing such a thing:

Demiurge imagined it was all part of a plan to gather beings with talents to serve the Tomb, as Vulpes could see the invisible and had a great knack for going unnoticed.

Aura imagined herself training a big fox someday.

Mare simply saw a cute baby.

Cocytus was ecstatic since, on one occasion, the child had jumped onto his shoulders and laughed while he ran; he couldn't wait to be called "uncle."

Shalltear and Albedo were daydreaming about their master wanting children.

As for Ainz, he was pleased to see how the child had brought about a change in Lupus's attitude a hope for the personal development of Tomb inhabitants.

One day, he was alone in the throne room, as Albedo was out with Renner, her new secretary. He felt comfortable flipping through some documents outside his office when he heard a whispering voice.

"Vulpes, where are you, girl? Vulpesregina Beta, come out right now."

"Hello! Is that you, Lupusregina?"

"Ainz-Sama! I'm sorry, I didn't know you were here; I'll leave immediately."

"No need to leave, Lupus. I'm just reviewing some documents. How have you been?"

"Well, my lord, Vulpes has been taking up quite a bit of my time, NOT THAT IT TAKES ME AWAY FROM MY DUTIES."

"Don't worry; I know you've had plenty of help entertaining her. Soon, she'll start her lessons, and that's when she'll keep herself occupied, fu! fu! fu!"

"If I can find her in the meantime..."

"Ah, I know where she is."

"Really!? Where, my lord?"

"Here, take a look." He extended a leg and exposed the little fox girl who was hanging on and gnawing on the Supreme anklet.

"VULPESREGINA!!!"

...

The days passed without significant events. Albedo was going to deliver one of her reports to Ainz's office and, if possible, have a moment with her master. She knocked on the door, which opened.

"Lady Albedo is here to see you, Lord Ainz," announced the servant on duty.

"Please, let her in, Cixous."

"Good day, Lord Ainz. I have a few reports for this morning."

"Yes, it seems we don't have much on the agenda today, do we?"

"No, my lord," said Albedo. She took the opportunity to lean over the table to display her ample cleavage while handing over the papers. However, what she saw was remarkable: her master had one hand in his lap, petting...

"Vulpesregina?"

The fox child was curled up in his lap like a little pet, lying on his lap while the Tomb's lord stroked her head with one of his bony fingers.

"My lord, this is quite audacious..."

"Child, Albedo, she's just a baby by our standards."

"Yes, my lord. I apologize for my outburst." Albedo reached out to pat the girl's head.

*NHACK*

"SONOFABIT*."

"ALBEDO!"

"I'm sorry Ainz-Sama, but she almost bit my finger!" Albedo said, holding her hand to her chest while the fox girl growled.

"You wouldn't even feel it, but you're right, Vulpesregina, that wasn't very nice or polite. Just because I let you lie on my lap for a while doesn't mean you own it. I can't show favoritism in my own house. Apologize to Albedo."

"Fa-fa-favorism?" the little fox attempted to say.

"Favoritism, giving a gift to only one person, or something like that. Now, apologize to Albedo."

"Gift?" She thought for a moment, then descended to the floor, walked over to Albedo, and stood up, hands behind her back and head lowered. "Sorry, Bedo."

"You're forgiven, Vulpesreginaah..." Albedo didn't finish her sentence as she was pulled by the finger to Ainz's side.

"Here, gift, sit."

"What, Vulpes? I don't understand. Sit where?"

"Sit, sit, Grandpa Bone's lap, gift."

"But I couldn't..." the succubus said, even though she was already sitting on Ainz's lap.

"Vulpesregina! You can't do that."

"No favorism, gift," she said to Ainz and then scampered on all fours to the door, stopped, and looked at the servant, who didn't know what to do. The girl scratched the door.

Cixous looked at her lord, as if seeking instruction, and Ainz simply gestured for her to open the door. The girl ran as soon as a crack appeared.

"Forgive me Ainz-Sama for this situation. I know it's inappropriate, but..."

"Don't worry, Albedo. I think Vulpes is learning very quickly. It surprises me that she understood 'favoritism' so easily."

"As far as I know, she's been having lessons with Yuri Alpha and is learning remarkably fast."

At that moment, there was a new scratching at the door. Cixous opened it, and in walked Vulpes, pulling someone by their dress.

"Sorry Ainz-Sama, but Lupusregina's daughter brought me here, and... ALBEDO! WHAT ARE YOU DOING SITTING THERE?"

As soon as the succubus saw Shalltear entering, she threw her arms around her lord's neck, struck the most suggestive pose, and gave her best seductive look, just to taunt her rival.

Vulpesregina pulled the vampire over to the side of the table.

"Here, Bedo, it's Shatee's turn now, sit, go, Grandpa Bone's lap."

Albedo looked at Ainz, who just shrugged.

"I'm sorry, Albedo, what applies to one applies to the other," said the Lord of the Tomb.

Without much enthusiasm, Albedo left, and as soon as her lap was empty, the vampire appeared in it. In one moment, there was nothing, and in the next, Shalltear was drooling. She didn't even ask any questions.

Vulpesregina ran out again, and this time the door was already slightly ajar. After a few minutes, Ainz received a message.

"Message for Lord Ainz, Auréole Omega reporting."

"Proceed, Auréole."

"Vulpesregina Beta requested a teleport to the sixth floor a few moments ago. In a nutshell, she asked to visit the twins, the Guardians there. I sent her directly to the front of the Treehouse, but now she's requesting a return to her office, my lord, and she mentioned something about a gift. How should I proceed?"

"Ah, yes! It seems Vulpesregina wants to give a gift to some of the Tomb's residents. Assist her with this, Auréole, send private messages to whoever she wants to expedite the situation."

"As you command, I will notify everyone."

As soon as the message ended, the familiar scratching was heard, and the girl entered with the two elf twins in tow.

"Get out, Shatee, switch, switch, sit here, two, present," she said to the siblings, who understood they were receiving a gift from their lord and happily took their seats.

Once again, Vulpes shot off; she didn't even wait for the switch, but soon returned because someone was talking to her.

"Don't scratch the door, knock like this."

*KNOCK KNOCK*

"You may enter," Ainz said, anticipating Cixous's announcement.

"I apologize for bothering you, Lord Ainz, but Vulpes insisted so much, and with Auréole's message, I..."

"Don't worry, Lupusregina. Vulpes is giving a gift to some people."

At this point, the girl looked at Cixous, who was standing by the door, and ran up to her, starting to pull her.

"M-m-me? I can't, I don't have that right, Vulpesregina."

"Here, wait your turn, no favorism."

The twins, who were sitting on each of his legs, had already stood up, and Lupus was sitting without much ceremony, to Ainz's surprise. Even so, Lupusregina was very red and embarrassed about the situation.

"I'm sorry for the trouble my daughter is causing, Lord Ainz."

"It's alright, Lupusregina. I think we're learning something today, something about privileges." -'I'm not exactly sure what kind of lesson it could be, but I think I'll regret it'- "Ready Lupusregina, I think you can change now."

*KNOCK KNOCK*

"Come in... whoever it is," Ainz said, thinking that nothing would surprise him today.

Demiurge entered with firm steps.

"We are here as ordered, my lord. Aaah! So, this is the gift, how blessed everyone in the Great Tomb of Nazarick is," he said upon seeing Cixous, red as a tomato, sitting on his master's lap.

"Well, it seems that some will receive a gift thanks to Vulpesregina... wait, did you say EVERYONE?!"

"Yes, my lord," the archdemon said with a genuine smile, then gestured toward the door.

Ainz got up and went to see what he was talking about, and they left the office.

Next to the door, they saw the enormous line that had formed. There were three vampire brides, two homunculus maids, Eclair's butlers, Eclair himself, Ira, Envy, and Lust, an ice bride, Hansuke, and the Death Knight, Neuronist spraying something into her mouth, Cocytus... the line seemed endless.

Albedo and Shalltear signaled to each other with their heads, coming to a silent agreement.

"ALL RIGHT, LISTEN UP, EVERYONE!" Shalltear announced. "OUR LORD IS GIVING A GIFT TO EVERYONE IN THE GREAT TOMB OF NAZARICK TODAY. PLEASE MAINTAIN THE LINE, BE POLITE, RESPECT THE TIME ALLOTTED..."

"Auréole Omega, this is Albedo. From what I can see, everyone in the Tomb has been contacted. We'll need a temporary rotation system; we can't leave sectors empty."

"Yes, Lady Supervisor. As ordered by our lord, I contacted all the residents at Vulpesregina's request. I've already taken the initiative to set up a routine for the sectors."

"Very well, Auréole. Once you're free, open a portal for you directly to Lord Ainz's office."

"Thank you, Lady Albedo. I'll do that shortly."

Ainz re-entered the office and sat down, noticing a very smiling Demiurge next to the desk.

"Ahem! I'm sorry, my lord," he said, "but I believe it's my turn."

'Oh my! I think I might need a vacation,' sighed Ainz internally. 'Maybe I'll take the twins camping,' he thought as he watched the cheerful little fox running back and forth across the room.
