Chapter 11 NIFF.

I need a Hero.

AU. I didn't want a name for this chapter that gave away what was going to happen, since it is a life and death situation, so I just put the title of the first song that came to mind. Ironically Hero by Skillet, was the first, which actually fits what's happening perfectly. Maybe to some of you will still jump to conclusions, I say just enjoy a good song.

Glace took a breath and close his eyes as he dug deep inside to focus the last of his aura for one widespread attack. As he opened his eyes—-

A dozen missiles struck and exploded in front of Jaune and Luna. Obliterating a large amount of the charging grimm.

They looked up to see three Atleasan Manta Orthos, fly overhead in a wide V formation.

The left two Orthos banked left and came in low for another strafing run while the third one banked right, slowed and began to descend.

After their second strafing run, the other two Manta Orthos (atlas airships) continued to circle overhead after firing missiles and their canons while a third, with the tail marking of, Manta 4.1.4500, landed on the incline in front of the ravine.

Six heavily armored soldiers jumped out, most armed with battle rifles and formed a half-circle around the transport as they open fired on the grimm. They all had different colors on their armor but the one thing that was the same was the patch on their shoulder that had the word: REDS on it. They didn't need to put any effort into aiming, since there was now over a hundred Grimm on the battlefield. They could see that the dozen or so packs of Grimm had formed into a single pack, or colony and more were still joining

"Hey kids! Get onboard! We got to get the hell out of here!" One of the soldiers yelled above the gunfire.

From one of the Orthos above, five well known and elite specialists leaped out. The ACE Ops landed surrounding the other three member of WRP_ and immediately began slaughtering the grimm. Giving the tired huntresses in training time to breath.

Clover whipped Kingfisher's hook out, wrapping it around a gigawolf's neck, he yanked the grimm to side, snapping its neck and causing it to be thrown into and trip knock over several of its charging pack mates before it disintegrated. "This seems to be a little more than you were prepared to deal with today, eh girls?" As he winked, "We'll take it from here. Get to the plane and take off. We'll be right out of here as soon as you are airborne."

Elm fired a missile from her rocket launcher before changing it back to its hammer form and batting them back with a big smile on her face. The missile hit a manticore and the concussive blast ripped apart several grimm right next to it as well. "Or stay as long as you want! I could use a good exercise!" She effortlessly bats a large, bony Gigawolf, it sails back tumbling bowling over a dozen more grimm. she was definitely a free spirited powerhouse.

Nora would definitely like her. Yang too.

Vine lashed his aura arms out like a whip as he stood next to Elm and Marrow, who had open fired on the grimm.

"Marrow! How much time can you give us?!" Harriet shouted as she ran in a circle around Specialist team, using her speed alone brought the force her punches another level. Adding the power of Fast Knuckles, she could punch a Manticore into oblivion.

"Since this grew to the size be a colony… best effort, 15 seconds." Marrow guessed. "Here goes." He took a deep breath, "STAY" he commanded, his voice booming.

Vine and Harriet instantly sprung into action. Harriet sped forward through the lines of frozen grimm. It was too easy to kill the paralyzed grimm with one punch, but there were still more coming.

Vine shot his aura out and his fingers became pointed spears arms, targeting the vulnerable areas exposed on the grimm.

All the while, Clover and Elm took on the grimm that were behind them,

Jaune felt relieved as he watched Atlas military planes fly overhead and strafe the grimm with auto canons and missiles.

Luna snapped out of her awe before her Legendary brother. She took him by the hand and firmly pulls on his arm to get his attention. He slightly winces, at being pulled but grits his teeth. He doesn't goes along with her as he marches towards the Atlesean aircraft.

"I guess it is time to go?" he asks refocusing on his sister.

"You bet it is. If you try to run, I am going to kick your ass before I throw you onboard."

He chuckles at that even though it hurt a little to, "Lu, I…" His sixth sense of imminent danger rang like an alarm in his head, and he turned quickly trying to identify the threat.

A large chunk of ice the size of a car was being hurled straight at them.

He raised a hand, and the ice disintegrated into mist 20 feet in front of them. The problem was that this one except that it wasn't completely made of ice. A large flat rock barreled out of the mist cloud. It was a roughly the size of a basketball and the flat surface struck him in the chest. His aura shattered on impact as it carried him backwards, knocking over his sister in the process.

"JAUNE!" He heard her scream. That was the last thing he heard before he blacked out.

Luna had come to the conclusion that today was a shit day: her teammate got hurt, her brother, who as it turns out was alive and the Myth they were searching for, had refused to come home for years, and now a psychopath who could order the grimm around was trying to kill them. But once they got in the aircraft, the day could be as good as over. And they could go back to Atlas and rest up.

She stopped and turned, ready to punch her long lost brother when he pulled out of her grip.

She lowered her hand she saw a large boulder of ice, roughly the size of a small car had been thrown at them, again.

She wasn't worried until a lopsided flat rock about the size of a basketball had come out of the mist and nailed Jaune right in the chest, taking him off his feet and hurling him away.

The feeling of horror spread through her when she witnessed her brother's aura shattering on impact. His name screamed from her lips as he went flying.

She looked up to see where the bolder came and spotted the Giant as he stepped back into the newly arriving sea of black and white monsters. Disappearing from sight. She fired at where he was, screaming until her weapon ran dry.

Two soldiers, broke out of the semicircle and followed her as she rushed to the unconscious Arc.

The one carrying a sheet of folded metal was wearing purple armor with a large red cross, signifying he was a medic. The other had pink strips across his armor and four grenade belts strapped to him. Two across his torso and one on each leg.

She slid next to his crumpled form in the snow and grabbed his shoulders. "Jaune… come on, you have to get up, we are going home now," she ignored the soldiers behind her until one of them yelled, "DON'T SHAKE HIM!" She froze, "We don't know the extent of his injuries, you could inadvertently cause more harm."

"What?!" She was terrified that she might have made his injuries worse. She wanted him to come home with her. She needed him to.

"Please step back." As he unfolded a metal stretcher from off his back. We are going to roll him to the side and we need you to slide the stretcher under him." Luna noticed that the medic was the only one of the group not to have a REDS patch on his shoulder.

The combat medic and the pink soldier held him across his torso and hips as they simultaneously rolled the injured blonde allowing her to slide the stretcher under him. While the two soldiers strapped him in and lifted him, the Arc sibling who could still fight reloaded her weapon before setting off at a brisk pace to the aircraft with the other two matching her pace.

Luna turned and fired, spending the last of her ammo at the grimm as the two soldiers hurried back to the aircraft. Despite the firepower that the soldiers brought. They were still losing ground.

"Shit they are getting closer!" A soldier with orange stripes panicked and dropped an empty battle rifle, and ran back to the ship to pull out an intricate grenade launcher. It looked like it was one of the first designs of multi-function weapons for hunters before the discovery and incorporation of mechashift. The design meant that it couldn't be properly aimed, mostly because of the large curved blade on the bottom it. He unleashed a slew grenades on the grimm. "Shit, Shit, Shit!" He cursed as he lets loose a string of grenades. "Why the fuck are there so many of them!"

Another soldier with red stripes on his uniform and the ranking of sergeant patched about his REDS patch, fired a long barreled heavy shotgun that ripped through the Grimm with ease. He slowed back up, "Hurry up we are losing ground!" His voice was gruff and he didn't bother to look back.

As Weiss, Pyrrha, and Ruby ran back to the Orthos on the ground, they see the blue armored dress of Luna moving steadily towards them with two soldiers caring her brother on a stretcher.

Ruby jumped on the aircraft and "I need a weapon." She pulls off the double barrel rocket launcher mounted on the wall of the aircraft, This'll do."

She is immediately brought down to here knees by the weight of it, the back end hitting the floor of the ship. "Why is it so heavy!?"

"Hey, that's mine!" A soldier in Maroon armor calls out, taking the rocket launcher, he hefts it onto his shoulder.

"What kind of mechashfit is that?"

"The M41 SPNKR is not a mechshift. Mechashift weapons are not designed to shoot heavier payload like this one, which puts far more stress on the metal itself, therefore they are further reinforced—-"

"Simons quit your yapping And get back to blasting! We're losing ground!" The shotgun wielding RED shouted.

"Save the nerd talk for later!" The orange soldier with the bladed grenade launcher yelled.

"Yes Sir! Sorry Sir!" He fired two rockets in rapid succession.

The REDS didn't stop firing as they backed up and boarded, with the snow blowing out from under the ship away as the engines powered up to take off.

The two airborne aircraft circled firing missiles and straddling the growing sea of grimm beneath them.

"Does anyone have eyes on where are all these grimm coming from?" The Pilot of Manta 4.3 asks.

"Confirm! I have visual on several packs approaching from the eastern mountain range." The weapons Officer exclaimed. With the ice that clung to their bodies, it was too easy for the untrained eye to miss the trail of mostly white Grimm from the mountains line. "This are way too many grimm being drawn out here for how few people were out here. There has to be an Alpha calling them from the mountains!" They banked away from the immediate conflict began to strafe the incoming tide of Grimm taking care not to be drawn too far before circling back.

"Why the hell are they still coming?"

"Sir, we have airborne incoming on radar!"

The pilot grit his teeth. This was a supposed to be a textbook rescue mission, but Murphy had to be a bastard today. But through foresight he was prepared.

"We're pulling back to the main group. Get the 40s ready on the side doors. We gonna gain altitude to provide fire support from above."

Their ship, Manta 4.3.4700, was the gunship of the flight group, it was slightly larger and bulkier than the others. Equipped with 40 caliber, side-mounted machine guns for the gunners and had been fully stocked with extra armaments.

Two of the soldiers manned the 40 caliber machine guns on the side of the aircraft and fired in bursts whenever they had an angel on the Grimm.

There was so much about this situation that the pilot didn't know about the tunnels that lead deep down underneath of several of the mountains bordering the edge of the valley that grimm were pouring out of.

A larger wolf grim lumbering slowly out of the tunnel and towards the open lands.

It was an Alpha variant, it growled and its ears laid back in irritation. This was a waste. There wouldn't be anything left of the humans by the time it got there with the number of grimm that had already gone. Not that there were many humans to begin but it couldn't disobey the call.

"The young ones are clear sir. Elm shouts above the snarling and howling.

Clover glances back to see the aircraft taking off with the REDs still shooting from the open door.

He tapped his earpiece, connecting him to their own Orthos they jumped from.

"Dutch would you be willing to swing around and put us up.

He heard a chuckle on the other end of the line as a gruff voice responded "yeah, I can come in for some Kite Surfing. Just makes sure there aren't any Death Mouthes hiding in the packs."

Clover grimaced at that.

Dutch was referring to Hellminers or Husks. They were some of the worse grimm to deal with nasty beasts that usually traveled in a shivers of 15.

Both looked significantly different, with the Hellminers having sharklike faces, and the Husks having a gaping mouth, both creatures stood around 20 feet tall on two legs, and could shoot projectiles from their large maws.

The importance of when they were spotted, is that an automatic no fly zone was established.

The Hellminers shot balls of plasma, while the Husks launched large balls or shards of ice from their mouthes. Both capable of taking down many types of aircraft in a single hit.

"You are in the clear for now Dutch. If you could pick us up before any decide to show up, that would be greatly appreciated."

Their aircraft circled back around, and went to pass them by at a much lower altitude.

After their initial entrance, Clover has opted out of executing any more fancy attacks instead employing more vicious and simple attacks, lashing Kingfisher like a whip instead of a hook, gouging out eyes and slashing open throats.

Harriet was a streak of lightning, bolting back and forth over a 20 yard stretch. She struck hard, breaking limbs and crippling the Grimm instead of outright killing them. It was a tactical play, grim dissolves when they were killed, but with a pile of severely maimed grim, it created an obstacle to slow down the oncoming Grimm.

As the only member with an actual firearm, (rocket launchers being classified as high ordinance) Marrow unloaded magazine after magazine into the charging black walls as he could, occasionally throwing the chainsaw boomerang rifle to cut through the tougher Grimm.

Elm stepped back from the front line and cupped her hands. Vine leaped above her and with his extended aura legs, she launched him into the air. The airborne Specialist reached out with his aura arms and grabbed hold of the Orthos.

At the same time he stretched out his other aura arm and grabbed hold of the open door while extending his fingers towards each member of his team.

They each grabbed one and were pulled through the air. Vine pulled himself into the ship and he retrieved his team.

Kite Surfing, was a nickname the ACE Ops came up with for a Low Altitude Extraction System that they had practiced many times before for situations exactly like this.

When the Specialists were aboard their aircraft, Clover congratulated his team. "Good work Vine, told you it wasn't "

"I never doubted that we would use it eventually, I just did not enjoy the frequency in which we practiced the LAES. But I strive to excel." Vine nodded, his voice still at a monotone level. "Which is more than can be expected for others."

"Oh can it Twig, I know you had a blast like I did!" Elm boasted as she brushed the ice off her rocket launcher.

"I would have considered it fun, had it not been a rescue mission for a bunch of kids how should not have been out here." Harriet rolling her eyes like she was annoyed, but she had a slight smirk on her face, a discreet tell to her team that she had enjoyed being able to let loose for a change and not having to worry about collateral damage.

"Normally I would agree that the mission was successful, however I am pretty sure that the priority was injured. Does that mean we failed?" The newest member of the ACE Ops asked

"Ozpin's students were our priority, Marrow. Glace was their mission." Clover did agree they had done well, but the delay from the storm had almost made them too late to get there.

"Alright Dutch get us out of here and get us home."

"Thank goodness for those words, the radar just pinged a few dozen airborne hostiles." Dutch reported

"Our first mission EVER and we did it! Mission accomplished!" Ruby cheered as the airship turned to head back to the Mountain city of Atlas.

The giant man had already retreated and disappeared back into the snow and packs of grimm, somehow. Which left several lingering questions. Who the heck was he? And why did he get so mad they mentioned that they were students under Ozpin and his any sentences with his name in it?

She was pulls out of her thoughts when Weiss ask, "Luna, what's going on with Jaune? Is he ok?"

Luna had not left her brother's side even when they had a moment to breath, despite Doc's polite insistence that she was starting to get in the way.

The Arc sibling finally pulls up her brother's shirt and gasps. His entire abdomen is swollen and a horrid purple color.

"Fuuck! He has massive internal hemorrhaging." Luna exclaimed, she then noticed that his chest was unnaturally still, she gently put a hand on his chest and left leaned her ear above his mouth… "Oh shit! He's not breathing!"

The medic in an armored purple uniform had just finished hooking an IV, morphine drip into Jaune's arm, with the bag being hooked to a rail on the wall. At her exclamation he pulls out his medical scanner which resembled a circular style purple pistol. A green light emits from it as it scanned the injured Arc's body, sending the information to the HUD in the medic's helmet. "Holy Oum." He whispers as he nearly drops his scanner,

The purple combat medic spoke as he took out what looks like a pen, uncapped and pulled it out the contents, revealing it to be a large needle with a valve at one end. "His left lung is punctured which is causing his chest cavity to fill with air. He acted before anyone could ask, stabbing the needle into the Mid Clavicle (upper chest) of the Legend's chest, and flicks lever on the valve on end, a hissing sound is heard as the valve releases air a long with a few gasps of surprise.

The Legend's chest deflated a bit, which it allowed him to take in a ragged breath.

Luna had the most medical training of her team because of her semblance; she taken an advanced CPR training and BLS (Basic Life Support), so she knew what Doc was doing, she just wished he would have given her a warning before he did it. She hated it, even though she knew it would only make things worse if she stopped him, so she closed her eyes and didn't open them until she heard the the ragged gaps for air.

Ruby gasped. He was a doctor! He wasn't supposed to stab patients with, anything, especially needles! She shuddered at that remembering how much she hated needles after she got badly sick and had to go to the hospital, she had broken her arm right after she first unlocked her semblance and couldn't stop. There was medicine in the needles that the doctors gave her but stabbing someone in the chest, that could kill him!

Pyrrha grit her teeth and clenched her fist. She knew that some of the basics of first aid, and while this looked wrong, this method of treatment was beyond her knowledge.

Weiss started to feel a little lightheaded while staring at the visible internal injuries on the Legend. She had taken basic anatomy years ago as it was so part of the curriculum, and the thought of the how extensive the damage done internally made her queasy. This was something she really didn't want to know how bad his injuries actually were.

With the needle in place, and three Doc started to explain, "When air gets into the chest cavity of the body, it puts pressure on the rest of the organs, the lungs are the most affected. This is a pneumothorax needle it relieves the pressure on the organs allowing him to breath." He looked around noticing the displeased looks from the team of huntresses. "I probably should have told you what that I was doing before I did… whoops."

"It would have put our mind at a little more ease if you had."

He continued working, pulling out thick, pads and starts to stick a few of them onto the legend's exposed chest. Surprisingly, the gel on the pads had a dim glow once they were applied on the Legend's body. Luna didn't recognize them as any CPR or BLS equipment she knew of.

"Hm. Hey doc, what are those?"

"S.P.U.G. medical patches," he answers, not stopping his work.

Now that she is not hysterical, she noticed that, his voice was a bit feminine.

"What the heck is, SPUG?"

He looks at her, before realizing that none of them had any Atlesan military experience. "It is a manufactured gel, it gets rapidly absorbed by the body and is used as an emergency medicine that forces the body to heal itself at a rapid rate. However, its properties have no affect on an individuals aura at all. It's like a steroid forces the body into a state of 'overdrive.' Specifically for the body start healing itself to create the supply the energy for the body to perform this drastic healing. "

"That sounds like it could have crippling effects on his body afterwards." Luna stated very worried.

"That is one of the risks of it is over-applied but it will save his life right now which is important." The doctor countered. "We know of the risks involved with using it which is why they are only to be used for critical injuries such as his in emergency situations as well as measured doses we can apply."

"How effective is this?" Luna asked

"It depends on the extent of the injury. The body itself knows what is critical to survival and needs to be healed first. However in his situation, his injuries are far too extensive for this to heal everything. He will need extensive surgery and then quite a bit of therapy afterwards, both physical and psychological.

However this was not even close to good enough for Luna, she activated Medication on him again, her aura glows as it interacts with what is left with her brother's. Her ability to interact with another's aura allowed her to feel what was being healed if she focused on it. She gently ran her hands over his chest, pulsing her aura through him, "Over a dozen broken bones, mostly ribs, gods the internal bleeding is horrendous, significant damage to organs… no no no," but even though it was the last thing she wanted to do, she had to stop, she is dizzy from the flight and extensive aura drain. She started to sob. I couldn't do enough. He's not going to make it.

Weiss knelt down and put a hand on Luna's shoulder, "Are you alright?"

Tears streamed off of the blonde girls cheeks, "It's not me you should worry about. Jaune's dying. I've already used almost all of my aura and I can feel the damage is far too extensive for him to survive if more isn't done soon. I-I need help." She looked at them begging.

Ruby immediately stepped forwards, "Your brother saved me, so I want to help save him."

She put a hand on Luna's shoulder and let the female Arc pull aura from her body.

Pyrrha also didn't hesitate to step up as well, and put her hand on Luna as well, channeled her aura into the conscious Arc. "He's done so much to protect us, and it would be wrong for the world to take him from you a second time." Pyrrha spoke with a determined look. Luna would have smiled if it wasn't for the her own worry and motion sickness, so she just focused on channeling the aura she was receiving.

Weiss was the last to step forwards. "How bad is the damage Luna."

Luna was practically shaking as she ran her hands over his body, glowing with her semblance, "I feel that his aura is unstable all throughout his body, but that doesn't make any sense. Shit. I… I can easily press his chest in. he might be lucky if his organs only has tears and are not burst."

"I don't have much aura left from all the fighting, but you can take what's left." The heiress held out her hand for Luna to take.

"Transfer it slowly," the medic warned, "you can't force a significant amount of healing to quickly or there will be severe consequences, especially since there is no way you can heal it all."

"But…"

"Luna don't argue with him, he's probably seen that happen before."

"I know just…" At least he was breathing again; which meant that his lungs had been healed enough to work. They just needed to get to Altas.

The medic scans the injured boy again. "You actually healed a perforated lung, that's quite impressive… Slow it down a little more if you can, this enough to stabilize him, which is the best we can do. He will survive long enough to make it until we get him to the real doctors."

He puts in an oxygen mask over his nose and mouth, with a hose connecting to a small canister of oxygen.

He pulls out the pneumothorax needle and immediately seals it with a patch.

Luna breathed a sigh of semi-relief, and released her semblance, they were out of aura anyways. Then she paused realizing what he said.

"Wait, what do you mean real doctors? Aren't you a trained combat medic?"

He gave a sad chuckle at that "Sorry to burst bubble, but there a significant difference between a doctor and a combat medic. A doctor is a highly trained professional of medicine whose job is to save a person's life regardless of the cost. A combat medic is trained to give someone emergency treatment so that a person dying, will die slowly enough to make it to the doctor and live. Or make them comfortable while they die."

"That's quite a morbid view of you our profession." The spartan voiced, more than a little uncomfortable with that ideology.

"I mean, us medics aren't given the tools necessary to treat every injury especially and we can't save even half of the people we get to treat. I mean, do you think I, me, could put his organ back into place if he had been disemboweled?" He explains in a relatively neutral tone. The team of huntresses didn't have an answer ok at him as he went back to monitoring the injured member with his purple scanner.

Clover patted Dutch on the shoulder before picking up the radio knowing the frequency was already set. "Winter this is Clover, I have a situation update you need to hear." He waited til he got a confirmation response before continuing.

"Both missions are a success. WRPA found the Winter Knight and we were able to extract all of them."

"That is excellent news, what is their condition?" Winter asked. She has been able to monitor them Beacon huntress team until the last BARC speeder stopped transmitting. She hated being left in the dark about this. Especially when her sister's life was on the line.

Clover took a mental breath as he prepared to deliver the more unsavory part of the report

"We didn't get them out unscathed, fortunately the girls all have minimal injuries; scratches, bruises and they are all exhausted from all the fighting they got caught up in. The one with actual injuries is WRPA's primary the Winter Knight. The medic on board is keeping us updated from their ship and stated that he has severe injuries and is in critical condition."

"We will have a trauma team awaiting your arrival at Atlas Academy." Winter assured as she started inputting commands gathering the trauma team, "You should stick close to him, when it comes to surviving injuries like his, some could say the key requires an almost supernatural amount of luck."

"Understood. We'll see you when we land." Clover nodded as he terminated communication with his commanding officer. "Dutch, we are going to contact Manta 4.1.4500 and let them know that we will be doing a midair passenger exchange. The rest of you behave while I'm over there."

Jaune had been laid down next to the wall with Luna leaning against it. She was stroking Jaune's long hair humming a song. Her team sat around trading places as they slowly trickled the last of their aura into the Luna's brother.

She believed that he would make it through this. He was strong, unbelievably so, even more than she could ever imagine and now he had someone to come back to his family and even her dysfunctional team.

After a bit of silence, the rest of them noticed that she had stopped humming. They looked over to see that she was leaning against the wall, eyes closed of the airc head and shoulders head slumped over. Luna was already down next to the severely injured Jaune.

"Excuse me Doc?"

He waved her off, "Don't worry she's all right, just exhausted."

The other huntresses had done much more fighting in the melee than her, but Luna's semblance taxed much more than theirs, especially since she had been pushing it so much further than she had before.

They sat in silence for a bit longer before they heard a clang on the side of the ship, followed by the door to the aircraft opening.

The wind whipped by and they could see that flying wingtip to wingtip with them was another Orthos, it's door was also open revealing the leader of the ACE Ops

He hooked on two hand hold inside cabin, then he jumped, reeling himself in.

"That was cool, but why?" Ruby's head tilted curiously at the necessary cool but not necessary passenger exchange."

"Clover nodded, "You could say that I'm here to be moral medical support with my semblance. My semblance is good fortune, which can compensate for a lot in life or death scenarios."

Weiss nodded, "Thank you. Should we…" she motioned to the passed out Luna

"No, let her sleep, she most of you are already showing signs of aura exhaustion. No need to make it worse."

"He's running out of time," Clover stated worriedly, a light sheen of perspiration could be seen on his forehead.

"Don't worry sir, Atlas Academy is within sight."

"Thank Oum, his blood pressure is starting to drop to dangerously low levels."

Atlas Academy was a large building, standing remote, above the City of Atlas. It was located high on the mountain, to where it could be seen by all. Strategically this made it incredibly difficult for anyone to sneak into the academy without an aircraft.

There was a sizable group that had gathered around the landing platforms of the Academy. Over a dozen personnel had been assembled: Atlasean soldiers providing security, a trauma team of five for the wounded, and Winter Schnee herself. They watched as an aircraft approached the platform at high speeds, even when it hit Atleasan airspace it didn't slow down.

"That's coming fast." A solider in blue holding a sniper rifle stated. Prompting a response from another soldier in turquoise.

"Bow—"

"Shut the fuck up Tucker. For the love of Oum, Time and Place this is neither."

"It never is." Tucker grumbled.

As it got closer, they could see two others aircraft trailing behind it at a distance. The one faster much faster than it should have

"Uuuuh, it doesn't look like it's slowing down." The turquoise soldier fidgeted nervously.

Winter narrowed her eyes at the approaching aircraft, "No it's not. That is not a good sign."

An alarm blared and a loud voice sounded, "PROXIMITY ALERT! CLEAR THE LANDING ZONE!"

At that warning everyone scattered away from the landing pad, expecting the worst.

Right before the Orthos it would have crashed into he platform, it pulled up and with its engines into a near stall before a dropping the last few feet on the platform.

The other two flew in at a much safer speed and circled for a few more minutes before coming in for a much more controlled landing.

As the side door opened the medical team rushed over, with a long pod trailing behind them. It was hovering a few feet off the ground, just like Dr. Poledina's wheelchair.

When the Orthos landed, everyone on board was jostled awake and made aware that they had landed at the Academy.

The door opened and much shouting commenced.

Even though Doc had a soft, feminine voice, at the moment he sounded very authoritative. "We need to get him into surgery now!"

They pulled the stretcher off the aircraft and brought it to the pod.

"What are you doing?" Luna asked quite worried as she scrambled off the aircraft to get over to her brother.

"Stand back, ma'am." One of the doctors ordered.

"Can you at least tell us what you are doing?" Weiss demanded,

The same doctor ignored her repeating, "We need you to stand clear. Ready: One, Two, Three." He counted off as the rest of medical team lowered the Legend with the stretcher, into the pod.

A pale blue sheen of crackled around the body for a moment but faded as the body was placed in the open chamber. As the glass lid closed, the pod released green and white mist inside. Doc continued to talk with the trauma team, briefing them on everything that was done to save the Legend's life. They listened as they continued to work, until…

"Will someone please tell me what you are doing to my brother!" Luna yelled as she tried to grab one of the doctors to get an answer, only to be pulled off by Winter and another soldier.

One of the doctor female doctors turned to her.

"Miss, it's a trauma pod. It uses a combination of ice and plant dust to keep him stabilize him."

"Wha— Plant Dust?"

A tall male medic sighs, "We have to do this, the medical wing is on the other side of the complex, and his blood pressure has dropped dangerously low while he is still bleeding internally."

"What is plant dust?"

Another member of the medical team signaled they were ready to move and they team hurried off.

Luna made to go after them, but Pyrrha stopped her, "I know you want to help, but right now Jaune is in the best hands he could be."

Luna looked at her idol, "I know that you're right but it sucks feeling so helpless!" She took a breath to calm herself, stroking her braids. "And what the hell is plant dust?"

The spartan released her and thought about it for a bit, but didn't get to answer as a stern but warm voice said,

"Team Warpath. If you would please follow me. You will all need to be treated for your own injuries even if you think they are insignificant. You will be brief on his condition only when you get there." The tone of her voice left no question to at it was not a request. As the rest of them turned to leave, Weiss remained on the platform, looking across the ravine that was the city. On the ledge on the other side of the city was a white mansion. It was large and the white made it stand out from to be seen from the distance.

She was staring at it.

"It is quite an eyesore isn't it?" It was more of a statement from the older Schnee. To her it was a reminder of what she was getting away from. Atlas Academy was built on top of the mountain to

So that they could deploy hunters rapidly in case of an emergency and to minimize collateral damage done by students.

The Schnee mansion was built for a different reason. It was a symbol of wealth and status more than anything.

Though he would never admit it, Weiss and Winter knew Jacque Schnee had this mansion built so that he could look down on others.

His office gleamed in the afternoon sun.

Winter has been in her father's office, it was entirely made of glass, even the floor, so he could see the rest of the city. They could even see the glint of the room from here.

"I always wanted to follow you here Winter… but to look out and see how close I was to still be within father's grasp, I knew I couldn't come here."

Winter put a comforting hand on her shoulder, "I believe you made the wisest choice for yourself when you chose Beacon. I know you look up to me, but sister, you should never strive to be me, you should strive to be the best you can be. I have faith that one day, by staying true to who you are; you will surpass me." Weiss looked at her in surprise, before she continued, "and your friends will help you, they will push you harder and in ways you never thought you could improve. And you will do the same for them."

"Thank you Winter. This mission has been a bit overwhelming but has taught me much about be much about being a team leader.

"There is always more to learn. Now, let's gather your team and take head over to the infirmary to make sure those cuts doesn't get infected."

It was then that Weiss finally noticed the stinging on her arm, she felt on the side of her arm, her fingers coming back a little bloody; she had been cut, and after the second rush of adrenaline, exhaustion was making itself known throughout her body.

She looked over to see how her teammates were doing.

Ruby, in the oversized jacket was leaning against Luna, she could notice a slight tremble in her legs, Ruby had run at full sprint during most of the combat while constantly using her semblance. It best to estimate that she had run several miles over the course of the fight.

Even their champion fighter, Pyrrha Nikos who at first glance looked fine, but looking closer her posture was slouched and her right hand gloves was torn to shreds. She also had several gashes in her corset and winter suit, the tears in her outfit were big enough that she could see her pale skin.

Luna was out of the fight for the arrival of the colony of grimm, but she was exhausted from how hard she pushed her semblance in saving her brother.

It was almost surreal, they a first year team, had just completed a mission that would have been a challenge to a third year team. Granted they had almost died in the process and wouldn't some setbacks and they couldn't have completed it without the ACE. But they completed the mission, and what was even better, they had found Luna's long lost brother. He definitely had some questions to answer, but that would come later when they actually had time to sit down and talk.

"We will talk later, everyone to the medical wing. This is nonnegotiable."

No one argued with the Specialist As they walked inside to get checked up, Luna had one final thing to say, "Can anyone tell me what is plant dust?"

I would apologize to anyone doesn't like how I portrayed some of the Easter egg characters, but its my story and I needed a slightly higher level of competence and professionalism than they normally give in perilous situations… usually.

I've always hated it when a story is left on a life or death cliffhanger, but unfortunately I think I have done that here with the last chapter.

Also I will explain what plant dust is next chapter as it is not a canon dust types and I am making it unique.
