Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Shadows in the Dark. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own Pokémon; Nintendo and a few others do.
Hervi sat across from Marnie, pausing as his Mimikyu floated between the duo, drawing attention from her Morpeko.
"So, how long you had your Morpeko?" Hervi questioned, eager to break the ice between the duo. "I've had Mim here for a few years. Him and me are planning on touring all of Galar." Hervi stated to which Marnie raised an eyebrow.
"You're not going to gather every badge." Marnie put in while Hervi hummed.
"No, I kinda plan on it anyway." Hervi added as he crossed his arms. "Why? You plan on going around the entire region?" Hervi questioned while dusting off his clothes.
"I plan on going to every gym." Marnie stated which caused Hervi to raise an eyebrow. "I just can't start here." Marnie added as Hervi rubbed at his chin with interest.
"I bet I beat the gym leaders before you." Hervi put in while cracking his fingers. "I'm going to be taking on the region's gyms one by one. You want to try and take them on together?" Hervi questioned as he reached out to pet his Mimikyu at the moment.
"You can't fight them as a team, you dork." Marnie put in as Hervi rolled his eyes.
"I meant we travel to them as a team… Then fight them one by one." Hervi put in as Mimikyu slowly forced itself into his Pokémon's name.
He was curious what was going to happen next. Marnie put her hand on her chin while Morpeko danced around her. Hervi cleared his throat and patted the Pokémon.
"You know that fan club is going to keep following you all around the region." Hervi put while he cracked a smile. "They wouldn't if you had my Mimikyu to scare them off." Hervi added while he watched the Pokémon slowly approach Marnie.
He was rather happy to see the Pokémon. It made things fun and easy when it comes down to it. The Pokémon slowly settled over his chest a moment later while he turned to Marnie.
"And why do you want to go around Galar with me?" Marnie questioned while Hervi cracked a smile.
"Well? One is going to be because I have LITERALLY no partner." Hervi stated while Marnie blinked before Mimikyu looked at his owner with anger. "I mean no partner as in people, not Pokémon, Mim." Hervi added as he hummed and looked around once more.
"Anyway, that? I don't like going around alone, do you?" Hervi questioned and shook his head. "Secondly? I like the contest; I want to put my Pokémon skills to the test. I'm sure you do as well, challenging an entire region? That's awesome, dangerous… But awesome. I just don't want to do it alone." Hervi put in and nodded to himself.
"Where do you plan on going first?" Marnie asked, tapping her fingers against his chin. "Do you even have another Pokémon? You can't take on the entire region with one Mimikyu." Marnie said and got a shrug.
Mimikyu glowered at the trainer before a pat on the head made the Pikachu imposter blink.
"I'm getting one soon." Hervi responded and allowed his Pokémon to float under his hand. "Also? Turffield. I plan on picking up a ghost/fire Pokémon before I challenge there, you?" Hervi questioned as he leaned back against a rock.
"I have 3." Marnie responded while holding up a Pokeball. "Morpeko, Crogunk, and Scraggy." Marnie added and watched Hervi turn to her.
"Fan of dark type Pokémon, huh?" Hervi asked and got a nod. "Ghost types, I've been a fan of them since I was a kid. My mom wanted to get me something cute… I think Mim here is the most adorable little troublemaker in the entire region." Hervi put in as he closed his eyes.
"I bet I'll beat Turffield before you." Marnie stated, gaining a smirk from Hervi.
"So, that's a, yes?" Hervi asked while Marnie nodded.
"Can you keep my brother's Fanclub from bothering me while training?" Marnie questioned as Hervi hummed.
"Well, Mim can scare them…" Hervi said, turning to his Pokémon as he did so. "But yeah. Mim, you're not letting people see under that cloak, though." Hervi added as the sounds of noises began to grow louder.
"I think that's your Fanclub." Hervi added which got a nod from Marnie.
"I'll talk with you tomorrow." Marnie said and looked at Mimikyu. "Let's battle tomorrow, it will help both of us." Marnie said before she left, her Morpeko waving goodbye which Mimikyu returned.
"You're going to be fighting an uphill fight tomorrow if I don't get Duskull early, bud." Hervi said, hopping off the stone as he did so. "Hmm, I wonder if you know all your moves still… We're going to have to practice tomorrow." Hervi added while patting the small creature atop its head.
Mimikyu only chirped out a response to which he hummed.

Phew. Another chapter done! I want to point out Hervi is going to get 2 Pokémon and slowly earn the others. Next chapter is going to be in 2-10 months and will show a Pokémon battle between Marnie and Hervi. Until then? Lighting Wolf out!
P.S: Next chapter is 1500-2500 words at the moment. Next chapter after that might be delayed, though.
