Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Shadows in the Dark. Enjoy the 1500-word chapter. I don't own Pokémon; Nintendo and a few others do.
"So, we go to best of 2?" Hervi questioned while he spun a Pokeball on the palm of his hand.
"Yes." Marnie said as her Morpeko leapt from her shoulder while Hervi allowed his Mimikyu to float in front of him.
"I just want to let you know I BARELY know any of the moves for Duskull. Mim, you good?" Hervi questioned while he cracked his fingers, eager to get this battle underway.
Hervi was quite taken with this battle at the end of the day. He shook his head once more as he started to think about what would come down to it.
"Would you like to go first, or would you want me to do so?" Hervi questioned as he crossed his arms.
"Me." Marnie said before a small smirk started to cross her face. "Morpeko, use quick attack." Marnie ordered as her Pokémon charged it.
"Mimikyu, dodge and use psychic!" Hervi ordered while looking at the battle with baited breath.
Mimikyu dodged to the side, causing Morpeko to shoot by before its eyes glowed an ethereal blue. Morpeko blinked before it was sent flying backwards along the ground. It rubbed at its dirt covered body.
"Pretty fast for a Morpeko." Hervi said with a smirk before he frowned and turned to Mimikyu. "Mim, use shadow ball!" Hervi ordered while looking down at his new Pokeball a second later.
He watched as a blast of shadows fired from Mimikyu's mouth, throwing Morpeko back as the Pokémon dodged it at the last second while flipping backwards a second later.
He knew for a fact that things were going to be interesting. He rather enjoyed how this was starting to go so far. Still?
This fight was going to be fun as well. Hervi stated while he started to think of his next move.
"Real fast when it comes down to it." Hervi stated as Marnie nodded before she turned to her Pokémon. "Let's do this, Marnie." Hervi added while he cracked a smile.
"Thunder Shock." Marnie ordered while Hervi hummed, brushing off his shirt.
"Mimikyu? Protect." Hervi ordered as he started to walk back and forth. "That's a move similar to well… You know." Hervi said before closing his eyes.
Bringing up Pikachu was the fastest way to cause something bad to happen. It was how he got used to the Pokémon's power at the end of the day. Mimikyu was going to be a far more powerful Pokémon.
"Yeah, I had taught him only three moves, you had to teach him 4, I'm guessing?" Marnie questioned which got a nod.
"Yeah…" Hervi stated while he uncrossed his arms a few seconds later. "Why do you want to talk about Pokémon after this? It might be a bit fun, but I'm still trying to find an advantage. There's no real moves that he knows that can knock out your Pokémon at the end of the day, there's a lot of stuff to learn for him, you know." Hervi added while he hummed to himself a second later.
Still? He needed to think about what move next happened. He couldn't use type advantage, none of his 4 moves were made to handle dark type Pokémon.
"So, where would you like to visit when we're done fighting?" Hervi questioned while he looked downwards.
"And how do you think is going to happen? You haven't won yet." Marnie said while Hervi chuckled to himself.
"Yeah, I'm sure things were like that." Marnie heard from Hervi said as he continued chuckled to himself. "If things were that easy? Then this fight wouldn't be that fun when it comes down to it." Hervi stated while he smirked.
Marnie hummed as Mimikyu looked at his owner, curious as what the next move will end up being. This fight had just started, and this was entertaining at the time to both.
"Morpeko, use bite!" Marnie barked as Hervi blinked, Mimikyu started to dodge a second later. "We still have one more Pokémon each to use, you know. This isn't the end of the battle even if one of our Pokémon faints." Marnie added to which Hervi hummed.
"Doesn't mean I plan on letting Mim get knocked out that easy, Marnie." Hervi responded to which Marnie nodded as he shook his head once more. "Mim, use Shadow Ball followed by psychic!" Hervi added, cracking his fingers as he turned to think about his next move.
He rubbed at his temples, looking at the woman while he started to ponder how he could win. They didn't have any type advantage over the other, meaning winning that way was out of the question, that left focusing on the landing of hits and avoiding of them. This fight was rather tiring, however, but he wasn't going to try and give up, not when there was something to enjoy about it to begin with.
"Do you have an actual strategy or are you just winging it like I am to begin with?" Hervi questioned while he shook his head, rubbing at his temples as he did so as he started to think of how this battle went when it came down to it.
"Winging it and the moment I don't have to think at the second?" Marnie added as Hervi chuckled, rubbing at his temples as he sighed and then crossed his arms.
"I don't really know if I'm going to win, but I'm enjoying this at the time before we think." Hervi added with a smile as he paused to brush off his jacket. "You enjoying it, or do you need 20 to 40 screaming fans to really enjoy it?" Hervi questioned with a smirk as he thought about the next move.
There was plenty to consider in this battle, but he'd stick for just finding a way to take down one single Pokémon. When that was done and dusted? Then he'd focus on other matters like how to best end this constant stream of poorly chosen quips and constant spamming of moves that he couldn't really begin to think about what happened to it thought at the moment.
There were far too many variables when he thought about it, but he would be cursed to the deepest pit if he didn't enjoy this to an insane degree.
"You're getting ahead of yourself." Marnie added, a small smirk beginning to eat at her face as he chuckled with mirth.
This was a good fight, a very good fight but he thought it could be done at this second. Hervi just needed a strategy he believed could best help him win this battle before Marnie overpowered his Pokémon and left him at a disadvantage. He watched Mimikyu float back to his side after a second of indecision.
"Who do you think is winning right now?" Hervi asked, patting his Pokémon atop its head. "Because right now? I'd say my Mimikyu is defeating your Morpeko." Hervi added, letting out a hum as he started to crack his fingers.
Marnie was silent a second and looked at Morpeko, neither Pokémon showed much sign of slowing down or losing this battle. Hervi had trained Mimikyu good, this battle was beginning to get rather good and she liked that a lot more then she cared to admit.
"Equal." Marnie added a moment later, putting a hand to her chin as Morpeko looked at its owner.
Hervi looked at the Pokeball in his fist, curious if it would be any different at the moment. It was worth enough of a shot for Hervi to consider the method. He looked at Marnie who was busy thinking about her Pokémon, she looked at him with a raised eyebrow as he placed his hands on his hips, curious as to if this could work like he wanted it to be at the second
"How about we let our other Pokémon fight? See which one holds up better?" Hervi asked, holding out his Pokeball towards Marnie so she could see it. "I've just gotten Duskull so I'm going to assume he's not going to be done much compared to Mim here." Hervi added, unsure if it would be ok as he might assume it would have been.
"And?" Marnie asked, raising an eyebrow with interest. "It isn't like there's a lot he can do. He's a new Pokémon, just like how mine is." Marnie added to which Hervi raised an eyebrow and then started to shrug with amusement and a smirk.
