Acquaintance

Centuries before the first muggles were born and years before the first witches and wizards, humans did not exist and during that time existed a stronghold of magic, Atlantis. A world literally flying over the ocean, it looked like heaven on Earth.

Though, most don't even know about the existence of Atlantis, including witches and wizards, some did and that was a fraction of people who were descended from Atlanteans.

And Benjamin Stebbins is one of those descendants.

When Benjamin was young, he had heard of the many legends from Atlantis that his grandfather, a famous historian, told him. The old wizard told his grandson about the pegasi who ate humans, warlocks who were so strong that they are called Gods now and a man called Merlin.

The young Benjamin had asked excitedly, "Merlin's from Atlantis, like me?"

The old grandfather replied, "Indeed, grandson, indeed."

It was that day Benjamin had decided to become the strongest wizard in existence, a wizard strong enough to be called a God by even the wizards and a wizard who is worthy of being recognised as a descendant of Atlantis.

"Come here, you little brat, you can't go without a hug from mummy", Benjamin's mother, Tessa, exclaimed and held him tightly. She softly said to him, "I can't believe you are eleven now, Ben. Oh, I am going to miss you a lot!"

Perhaps those plans can wait at the moment, his mother deserves his full attention.

Robert Stebbins, a wealthy lawmaker in Magical Britain and Benjamin's father, gave his son a small smile and gave him a gentle pat on the back. The Pureblood said seriously, "I hope that you will do us proud, son."

Tessa rolled her eyes and pushed him away gently and said to Benjamin, "I don't hope that, Ben, I know you will make us proud. After all, you are my boy."

Robert interjected with a sly smirk, "He is my boy too, you know."

Benjamin's mother dryly said, "Of course, honey" and then turned to her son, "Now, go, or else I won't let you go. Oh, I will miss you so much, Ben!"

Benjamin hugged his mother and father, unable to say anything without sounding overly emotional, and leapt onto the Hogwarts Express. He waved goodbye to his parents who smiled at him, their smiles a little sad but happy as well.

Benjamin was walking down the train when he met a boy that was about his age going to sit in a compartment alone. He followed his yearmate, thinking he could ask if he is Pureblood afterwards, and asked him, "Hello, can I sit with you?"

The other boy, a slimy person with long black hair and unfriendly black eyes, looked at him with hostile but welcomed him a shocked smile. The boy said, "Alright but a friend of mine will join us soon."

Benjamin agreed and said, "My name is Benjamin Stebbins."

The other boy muttered softly, "Severus Snape."

And so went the descendant of Atlantis on a new journey.

Mesopotamia is said to be one of the six cradles of civilisation. It is still a famous country to visit, though it is not as relevant now, due to the invention of many magical inventions in Nepal in the past few decades.

Mesopotamia was founded by remnants of the sunken Atlantis (or at least that's how he was told the story) and was constructed as its legacy. It made the young boy proud that his ancestors were from the civilisation that was the Image of Heaven on Earth.

Mesopotamia was ruled by the descendants of these Atlanteans until a king went power-hungry and made himself immortal by pure power. The king was so cruel that he didn't allow his powerful children to live after birth and was left his sole daughter after his wife's death, a squib, who he abused frequently. Though the tyrant got his daughter pregnant numerous times, he didn't allow her to give birth, weakening his only family considerably.

But as he got older, despite his immortality, the squib got pregnant and gave birth to a child. The king threw the child out of the window after the event and an eagle came and carried the child away. The eagle was an animagus, the king's gardener, and had gotten sick of this tyrant. And so, he named the child, his newly adopted son, Gilgamesh.

Sirius Black is proud that he is from the family of the descendants of Gilgamesh the Hero but he is also well aware that Gilgamesh became a tyrant himself and fashioned himself by the name of Ekrizdis and created Dementors.

While the tale of Ekrizdis proves to be a cautionary tale for the Black Family, the rest of the world forgot that it was real, thankfully. They thought that the Blacks were from a family of Egyptian cursebreakers, which was true since the descendants of Gilgamesh did do that.

As Sirius stepped into the Hogwarts Express, he could feel the unloving eyes of the inbred aristocratic that was his mother and the stoic stare of the jobless noble that was his father. Oh, how he wished that his little brother, Regulus, was there to wave him goodbye, even though they were not as close as they could have been.

Sirius entered the crimson-coloured train's hallways, ignoring his family as they left without a word as well. He weaved through the crowds of fellow students with an excited smile and an enchanted trunk in search of a compartment. He finally found one and it had another boy that was his age.

Sirius introduced himself, "I am Sirius Black, on the way to be the best wizard ever!"

The other boy, who was slowly turning into a friend, grinned and exclaimed, "And I am the greatest prankster in Magical Britain, James Potter!"

The two knew that the other was important to their family name but ignored it. They grinned at each other.

Seems like this descendant of Gilgamesh will have a better future.

AN: This was supposed to be a time-skipping and world-building chapter and I feel like achieved that. Also, the lore is built by my own imagination with the help of no proper sources, so please don't tell me that Atlantis and Merlin's origin is not like that or how the Epic of Gilgamesh told that his mother, the cow goddess, had more than ten children, despite not being allowed to be pregnant by her father. Also, please don't tell me about Gilgamesh's father, I don't know how the man was born, okay?

Jk, please tell me the Lore, I love legends and mythologies.
