Chapter 50
Demetri swiftly got everything arranged, and within an hour, our flight and hotel plans were all set. We were scheduled to leave tomorrow night, aiming to arrive in Tokyo just after nightfall the following day. The rest of the day was spent visiting the Cullens, and with a cheerful farewell, Demetri drove me to the hotel he had booked in Seattle. During the ride, he shared some intriguing stories of his past visits to Japan, delving into the details of different historical periods, including the Feudal Era and he recounted how the people of those times viewed a vampire who was clearly a foreigner.
We would be taking a commercial flight to Japan, as Demetri had flown to Seattle through normal travel means to meet me. Monopolizing the Volturi jet for multiple weeks seemed unjustifiable, considering it might be needed in a pinch. Flying conventionally, despite missing out on the fun of alone time, was fine with me. Thankfully, Demetri had instilled in me that whenever I travel, I should always take my passport with me just in case. I guess he was planning for us to go on spontaneous jaunts to exotic countries. Smart man. I quickly sent texts to my mom and Rebecca, letting them know where I'd be in case they got worried. I smiled as I received an almost instant reply from Rebecca that quite succinctly stated, 'Lucky bitch! Have fun.'
Upon reaching the hotel, I discovered that Demetri had checked us in as Mr. and Mrs. Volturi. I shot him a look that imparted, 'Well, isn't that presumptuous,' though secretly, I reveled in the feeling and hearing the words said aloud. As we entered our hotel room, I was on the verge of tearing all his clothes off. It had been over a month since his last visit, and I was more than ready for some action. Typically, we satisfied our urges over the computer, but fate had seemed to conspire against us this past month, and unforeseen circumstances kept popping up, denying us our usual sexy fun time. Tonight, however, our dry spell would come to a satisfying end.
"Well, my dear husband," I sultrily purred as he closed the door, making sure to hang the 'do not disturb' sign on the outside. "How would you like to kick off the night? I think I'm in the mood for fast and rough to start with. You don't have any objections to really sticking it to your sweet, demure wife, do you?" I flashed him an innocent expression, as if I were unsure of his response.
Demetri smiled, and I could tell he was as eager for this as I was. "Not at all. Why don't you lose those clothes and get on your hands and knees on the bed." It was like he read my mind. I quickly slipped off my shoes and socks, shimmied out of my jeans, and tossed my blouse off to the side where it landed on the chair. Smiling at him, I shed my bra, letting my chest burst free, and playfully slipped my panties down, tossing them at Demetri. They landed on his head, making me laugh. He pulled them off the top of his head, and before tossing them aside, I saw him take a whiff. Well, whatever floats his boat, I thought as I turned around and crawled onto the bed. I spread my legs apart and waited with anticipation. I soon felt his cool hand silently roaming over my most intimate area. Oh god, I wanted him. He continued with his ministrations, getting me more and more worked up until he leaned down so his mouth was near my ear and whispered, "Are you ready for me?"
Oh, how ready I was for him. I nodded and choked out, "Oh yeah," finding it increasingly difficult to concentrate as he massaged my opening with his fingers. I heard a shuffle, indicating he had taken his own clothes off, and almost instantly, his fingers were replaced with his long shaft running up and down my slit. I worked my ass, trying to guide him where I needed him, and he didn't disappoint, ramming into me quite forcefully, making me scream out in delight.
He didn't go slow, moving in and out at a pace that was clearly inhuman, but I loved every second of it. Lost in the moment, we continued fucking with a passion for a long time. I went all out, meeting each of his thrusts with the rocking motions of my own body. My breasts swung beneath me, and I was lost in pleasure as I started to feel that building release that I craved so much. "Harder, fuck!" I moaned out as I felt my climax rapidly approaching. As it hit me, I screamed out, and soon, I felt his hands on my hips as he jerked several times, and I felt his cool release inside me. I smiled. What a way to start the night.
I grabbed his arm behind me and pulled him down, so we were both lying on the bed with him still inside me. He wrapped his arms around my stomach, pulling me closer to him so we could cuddle for a while. I felt so relaxed as he held me. I just wanted a couple of minutes to get my breathing under control, and then I'd be ready for more.
We snuggled for a while, not needing to speak. It felt comfortable just being together. As I started to think about what we needed to do before leaving tomorrow, I couldn't come up with much. I might have to buy some clothes in Japan since I had only packed three outfits, assuming my trip to Forks would be a little under a week.
One thing did occur to me. I lifted my head, looking up into Demetri's beautiful eyes, and noticed there wasn't much red in them. I rightly asked, "When was the last time you ate? Do you think you should go tonight so you won't have to do so in Japan?" Thinking about it, I'd prefer he pick off some asshole here rather than in Japan. It felt like poor etiquette to go to a foreign country and kill a local while visiting their fine country.
"It has been a couple of weeks. You're probably right. I'll go after you fall asleep," he said as he lifted his hands, starting to massage my breasts. I smiled, ready for round number two. Rolling over, I positioned myself on top of him, and he lay on his back on the bed. He was still inside me, quite hard already, so I happily started riding him in the reverse position, savoring every second.
The next night, we boarded our flight to Tokyo. Demetri grumbled a little that all the first-class seats had been sold out. I silently scoffed, liking how he would have to be with us common folk. Even in coach, I felt the seats were a little bigger than the usual US flights I take. It's probably because it's a longer trip and a bigger plane. We held hands most of the flight. About halfway through, when most of the cabin had turned off their lights to try and get some sleep, I looked at him, and he smiled at me. It got me feeling a little mischievous, and I thought it would be fun to mess with him a little. Leaning in, I whispered quite wantonly, "I'm so horny. If only we had that nice cozy jet. Just think of all the debauchery we could get into." I put my hand on his thigh and started rubbing it, looking into his eyes. "You know I was thinking we could try some new things that I've so far been reluctant to try." Demetri's eyes had turned pitch black, despite him being well-fed. Maybe my words had turned him on so fast it had dissolved his contacts.
Demetri swallowed. "You know, I've heard humans like to do it in the plane bathroom sometimes. Yes, I've heard they quite enjoy that."
I held in my laughter. "Oh no, I could never do that. It's okay; we'll just sit here in peace for the remainder of the flight. Now that I think about it, I should probably get some shut-eye too. Maybe you can ask the flight attendant for a deck of cards. Good night. I love you."
My eyes peeked down at his lap, and yep, he had a massive hard-on. Mission accomplished, I thought, silently laughing. I looked up into his eyes, and by the look he was giving me, it was clear that he knew what I had been doing. I smiled at him, giving a 'who, me?' expression. I leaned over and kissed him, whispering, "Don't fret; I'll make it up to you tomorrow when we get to the hotel." I nestled into his shoulder and started thinking of all the ways I could make it up to him when we got to Japan. I fell asleep with a smile on my face.
Standing there, it felt like a moment straight out of a vampire comedy film. A vampire and his girlfriend, patiently waiting for her suitcase to show up, but the conveyor belt just kept going and going, and her suitcase never makes its appearance. We had been waiting for close to half an hour, but so far, nothing. Demetri's suitcase had shown up first thing. Why did these things always seem to happen to me?
"I think your suitcase might be lost, Bella. Maybe we should go tell someone," Demetri suggested, trying to be helpful.
I looked up at him and thought of everything that was in the suitcase but could not think of anything that was truly important. "No, let's go start our vacation. If it turns up, they'll call the contact number on the bag. We'll just have to stop and buy me a few things. I'll just think of it as an added bonus; I get some authentic Japanese clothes. I wonder if Japanese toothpaste tastes any different? I should try a local brand, just for the experience."
A few days later, Demetri and I were immersed in the enchantment of Tokyo, truly having the time of our lives. The city came alive at night, adorned with vibrant lights that created a mesmerizing spectacle. Tokyo's distinctiveness set it apart, a captivating departure from all the other major cities I had visited. The fusion of unique architecture and cultural nuances made it a sight to behold. Additionally, I had the opportunity to indulge in authentic Japanese cuisine. When I initially planned our future travels as vampires, I hadn't expected to savor the local delicacies. This experience turned out to be a delightful surprise, and I found myself appreciating the diverse flavors of everything Tokyo had to offer.
I found the people of Japan to be incredibly courteous. Every time we interacted with someone, they greeted us with a smile and went out of their way to be helpful. It was a refreshing change from the hustle and bustle of LA. To navigate the language barrier, Demetri had taught me a few basic phrases. While my attempts might have been somewhat clumsy, the locals appreciated the effort. Demetri, being fluent in Japanese, often stepped in to help me articulate my thoughts more effectively. On our first night, we heard from the airport that they had discovered that my bag hadn't made it on the flight at all. I arranged for it to be sent back to LA, and in the meantime, I enjoyed shopping for some new outfits and other necessities.
The next night, we found ourselves strolling along a picturesque coast, far removed from the massive skyscrapers of Tokyo. Having just left a traditional Kabuki theater, I had been enthralled by the performances—the vivid makeup, the wild colors of their costumes, and the unique music was so unlike anything I had ever seen. I hugged Demetri tighter as I breathed in the fresh coastal air, which had a different scent than any place I had ever been. The village we were in seemed to resist the march of time, with few streetlights around us. The moon above, not quite full, still illuminated everything, and with my better-than-average eyesight, I could see the millions of stars shining high above, creating a truly amazing sight.
Demetri turned me around, and as we faced each other, I looked up into his smiling face. "So, I heard tomorrow might be overcast, and if it is, I thought we could climb Mt. Fuji together. Considering how much you enjoy exercising, I thought you'd appreciate the opportunity to reach the top of one of the greatest mountains on Earth. I think the achievement would mean more to you now than if we attempted it in the future."
I smiled; he knew me so well. "I'd love that. Let's hope it's really cloudy out. Let's head back to the hotel. I think a little fun time, then a good night's sleep is warranted if we're going to climb a mountain tomorrow."
"Yes, that sounds like a good idea," Demetri smirked, turning me around and pulling me near his body. He started to kiss and lightly suck on my neck while rubbing my stomach with his cool hands. "Assuming the weather cooperates, we'll need to find a path up the mountain that isn't their standard fare. Otherwise, it would be a real tourist trap, and we'd have to go at a snail's pace. I assume you'd really want to go all out, right?"
"Oh, yes, maybe I should pick up some more sensible clothes if we're going to a more rugged part of the mountain, and perhaps some gloves if it's going to be a challenging climb in spots. Hmm, I just saw myself in a Lara Croft outfit. I know that's not what one would wear for mountain climbing, but someday we'll need to pick up that outfit. I'll be the Tomb Raider, and you can..." I paused as I saw Demetri all of a sudden stiffen, his head swinging to the side as I felt the wind changing direction. I looked up into his face, and his smile was gone; he looked tense and focused.
"What is it?" I asked, immediately throwing out my shield as soon as I noticed Demetri's change in demeanor. I scanned our surroundings and didn't see anything, but that didn't really mean much or reassure me.
Demetri spoke in a low voice, "I smell someone nearby. I think they're watching us." He focused his full attention to one area, scanning along that section of the coastline as if trying to pinpoint the source of the vampire scent.
"Please relax; we don't know if they are a threat. We're in no danger." I reassured him. He nodded at me, understanding that I had put my shield around us both. We had worked it out so we didn't have to state the obvious in the presence of potential eavesdroppers.
I rubbed Demetri's back, attempting to soothe him. Encountering another vampire didn't necessarily mean a hostile encounter. Taking the lead, I called out, "We know you're watching us. We mean you no harm. Please come out; you're making my boyfriend nervous." Demetri looked down at me with a 'what the fuck' expression on his face, clearly not thrilled about being labeled as 'nervous.' I shot him a playful smile as we waited to see if the mysterious vampire would reveal themselves.
Demetri's head turned sharply, zeroing in on a particular spot. Following his lead, my gaze soon caught the outline of a petite figure, undoubtedly a woman, cautiously making her way towards us. She finally came to a halt about 20 feet away. It was evident that she was of Japanese origin, with delicate features that drew my attention. However, what intrigued me the most were her striking golden eyes. Well, that was unexpected.
Demetri eyed the woman before commanding in a firm tone, "Who are you? What business do you have in these parts?" I inwardly shook my head. 2500 years, and he had the tact of a tree stump. I chalked it up to him being concerned for my safety.
The woman seemed frightened, and I sensed she was on the verge of fleeing, so I intervened. "Please excuse my boyfriend," I said, nodding towards Demetri. "My name is Bella, and this is Demetri. Do you speak English?"
The vampire studied us for a moment, and I observed her in return. Her long black hair was neatly tied behind her head in a traditional Japanese style. Standing at around 5'4", she wasn't particularly tall, but she exuded the familiar attractiveness typical of all vampires. After this brief contemplation, she spoke, "Yes, my name is Kiyoko. I don't mean either of you any harm. I would have left you alone, but when I realized you knew your companion, and you were more than just a... Well, I mean... you two intrigued me, that's all."
I smiled, thinking it was her way of politely saying I wasn't Demetri's main course for dinner, and she refrained from saying more in case I wasn't aware of who I was keeping company with. "It's okay. I know what you both are. I plan on going through the change soon as well."
Kiyoko's shoulders relaxed as she realized she hadn't spoken out of turn. I took the lead in the conversation, saying, "We're here on vacation. This is my first time experiencing your beautiful country. Demetri, on the other hand, has seen it many times over the centuries. I'd love to hear more about your story if you're comfortable sharing."
My words seemed to have done the trick, and Kiyoko further eased into the conversation. She shared a fascinating story about hailing from a small fishing village not far from our current location. Although she didn't explicitly mention why, it was clear from her narrative that she didn't engage with many vampire. I assumed it might have something to do with her choice of diet.
Once I'd formed a positive opinion of her, I thought it would be okay to tell her about the Cullens. Maybe she'd be interested in meeting other like-minded vampires. "I couldn't help but notice your eyes and see that you are an animal eater. I'm actually very good friends with a family who partakes as you do. Have you ever heard of the Cullens?"
Kiyoko looked genuinely surprised. "No, I've never met another vampire who lives off of sea life. What can you tell me about them?"
Now, it was my turn to be surprised. "Sea life? Really, I'd never thought of that. No, they consume animals like deer or other land mammals. I'm not sure if they've ever considered sea creatures. The family is led by a vampire who's actually a doctor for humans. They're very kind, and I believe they'd be interested in meeting another vampire with a similar diet. I'm sure some of them would even be open to trying your way of eating. As you know, there aren't many 'vegetarian vampires' like you out there."
Kiyoko laughed, "Vegetarian, I like that, and I'd be interested in meeting them. Thank you," she said with a smile as I pulled out my phone to share Carlisle's and Alice's phone numbers.
"Sorry, can't take credit for that one. Carlisle came up with the whole vegetarian angle. They're in the Pacific Northwest in the United States right now. It's best to call ahead and introduce yourself. I'm sure they'd be happy to meet you. Just let them know you heard about them through me. Oh, and if you call Alice and she sounds like she's already had the conversation, don't worry. She can see the future." Kiyoko's eyes widened at that little nugget of info, making me smile. I glanced up at Demetri and noticed his posture had greatly relaxed.
Demetri finally chimed in, this time with a much friendlier tone. "I, too, have never encountered someone who sustains themselves with sea life. Truthfully, I've never even sampled anything from the sea. Does it bear any resemblance to the taste of human blood?"
Kiyoko smiled, her eyes reflecting a hint of amusement. "Not really. It's more of an acquired taste, I'd say."
Demetri nodded, clearly understanding her words. "I can only imagine."
Kiyoko's gaze drifted toward the sea, and I sensed her desire to depart. When she looked back at us, she nodded and said, "Well, it was very nice meeting you, Bella, and you, Demetri. Perhaps our paths will cross again one day. I'll make sure to reach out to your friends, Bella. Thank you for telling me about them." With that, she gave one final nod, and in an instant, she was gone.
I turned to Demetri. "Well, that was certainly interesting. I wonder what type of sea life she likes. I realize fish must have blood, but I guess I never really pictured them being edible for a vampire. Maybe she goes after bigger prey, like sharks."
Demetri now appeared completely at ease, and I had lowered my shield since his relaxed posture signaled that we were alone once again. "It's a mystery to me too. I know I'd never try such a thing. Makes me feel icky just thinking about it." He regarded me with a smile. "You did quite well diffusing the situation. Most meetings with unknown vampires are quite contentious at first."
"Yeah, I noticed," I said, looking up at him and smiling as I rubbed my hands up and down the sides of his waist. "I don't think I'm the type to throw down the gauntlet right at the first meeting. Maybe it's because I have my shield that protects us, but I've always thought using the carrot is better than the stick. I probably would have acted differently if Kiyoko had seemed like an asshole, but luckily, I thought she was a nice lady. That's why I offered her the Cullens' information. I imagine it can get lonely out there if you're by yourself."
I embraced Demetri, wrapping my arms around his strong chest, holding him tight, our bodies pressed close. Looking up into his ruby eyes, I smiled. "Now, where were we… Ah, yes," I let my thoughts go wild, resetting the mood for the rest of the night. "I was just about to suggest we get some more suitable climbing clothes for me, and then we can head back to our hotel room. I'm thinking you can play the protector to an ancient Japanese tomb, and I'll do whatever is necessary to get by you and plunder the treasure you're guarding."
Demetri's grin widened. "I won't argue with that. Come on, we should be able to find a shopping mall still open when we get back to Odawara." With that, we turned around and headed back to the larger city where we were currently staying. We easily found some more rugged clothes for me, and then we had a deliciously good time engaging in some fun role-playing adventures. I went to sleep that night feeling thoroughly satisfied.
The next morning, luck smiled upon us as Mt. Fuji was blanketed in overcast skies, creating the perfect setting for an extraordinary climb to the mountain's peak. Snapping numerous pictures during our ascent and descent, we tackled a rough section of the mountain, too harsh for regular tourists. Despite the challenge it posed for me, we had a great time, and I found myself loving every moment.
At one point, we encountered a sheer cliff wall that seemed to rise straight up for about 70 feet, where the only option was to climb. Of course, I lacked the gear and expertise for wall climbing, so I had Demetri stand under me as I used my shield to raise myself to the top. Once I reached the top ledge of the cliff wall, I looked down at Demetri and was about to offer assistance when he showcased his prowess by leaping directly up an impressive 40 or so feet into the air. Effortlessly grabbing onto the cliff wall, he launched himself up again the rest of the way, landing right beside me. Damn, that was impressive. I shook my head in amazement as Demetri casually dusted himself off and winked at me. Smiling, I laughed lightly as we continued towards the peak.
Finally reaching the summit, I floated my phone away from us to capture some stunning aerial shots of us on the mountaintop. After taking numerous stills, I switched to recording a video, moving the phone in a wide circle around us as if it were a remote-controlled drone. As the day drew to a close, we completed our descent of the mountain, and I had truly loved the entire experience.
Two days later, it was overcast throughout Japan again, leading me to suggest we try the high-speed rail system that crisscrossed most of the country. Boarding the bullet train to Kyoto, the experience truly felt futuristic, considering that the US was yet to have such trains. It sparked thoughts in me that we were falling behind as a nation, but amidst our current challenges, the lack of a high-speed rail line seemed like a minor concern. Reflecting on this, I realized I didn't have much ground to stand on, especially since I, too, would be leaving the US for the foreseeable future.
As we zipped over the countryside, I couldn't help but be amazed as I gazed out the window. We were moving at a little over 200 mph, faster than any vampire could run. While it was impressive, it didn't quite match the exhilaration of the wind blowing through my hair when traveling on a vampire's back. I turned to Demetri, who was also captivated by the passing scenery. "I read that the next generation of these trains will use Maglev technology and might reach speeds of up to 400 mph. That will surely be something to experience."
Demetri turned his head towards me. "Technology has been advancing by leaps and bounds for the past couple of hundred years. For millennia before that, it was challenging to pinpoint many true advancements like what we're experiencing today."
His words triggered thoughts about the future. As the centuries rolled by, we would be able to witness all the triumphs of mankind and most likely many heartbreaks too. I pondered where we would be in 100 years, 500 years, and then a millennium from today. The first 100 years were easy for me to picture, but after that, it became harder to wrap my mind around what the future would look like. Intrigued by Demetri's thoughts about the future, I posed a question I had often wondered about. "We've never really talked about the future. When do you think we'll have true flying cars that are commercially available and used by the public?"
Demetri closed his eyes for a few seconds, considering the question, and then lifted his head. "I'll say around 2095. What do you think?"
I ran through all my thoughts regarding flying cars before responding, "Well, I believe the technology will emerge before 2095, but I doubt flying cars will be commercially available until maybe 2140. There's so much in the infrastructure that would have to change to accommodate flying cars. Nevertheless, it'll be fun to see one day. Personally, I plan to learn to fly much sooner than that." I smirked at Demetri, adding, "If you play your cards right, I might take you on the ride of your life."
Demetri grinned, "Oh, I've been on quite the ride ever since I met you. And I look forward to all the adventures yet to come. With you, it seems not even the sky is the limit."
I appreciated the sentiment behind his words, and a warm feeling filled my heart as I saw the way he was looking at me. "I know what you mean. My entire world got flipped upside down when I met you. Now, there's so much to do and learn. It's like every day I get a new idea or thought about the future. I'll have to learn to temper my goals, as having fun with you is just as important to me. We have eternity, and I don't need to rush everything."
Demetri nodded at my words. "That's a good attitude to have. Tell me, what have been some of your more out-there thoughts recently?"
Taking a moment to gather my thoughts, I broached a topic that had been on my mind recently. "Well, I've been considering that, at some point in the future, and I don't mean any time soon, I should start delving into the intricacies of blood. Perhaps eventually, I could explore a way to create a synthetic blood that would be able to replace drinking from humans. I understand it's not a pleasant topic for you, but the reality is that, in the future, vampires might have to come out of the closet, and it might not be by our own choosing. It would be nice if, at that time, we could say, 'Yeah, we used to suck on the good stuff, but now we have this nifty bottle that does the same thing, so let's all be friends.'"
Demetri listened intently, his face revealing a mix of contemplation and curiosity. Finally, he spoke up. "I know you're right. It's something no vampire really wants to think about." He looked at me and smiled. "I look forward to seeing what you come up with regarding our little eating issue. Hopefully, we won't have to worry about that day for a very, very, very long time."
"I agree. In the future, once I'm settled, I'll discuss my thoughts with the kings. I'm sure to begin with they could buy or invest in a company and put the best scientific minds on the issue without revealing its true purpose. Truthfully, the human race would find lots of benefits to synthetic blood, just as much as vampires. I guess I don't even need to discuss it with the kings now, since Aro is going to read you long before I see him again." I huffed, shaking my head, finding humor in my thoughts. Smiling, I stared directly into Demetri's eyes and said, "Hey, Aro, stop peeking in on our sexy time!" I burst into laughter at how weird my life had become. As I calmed down, I noticed the train had started to slow, indicating we must be close to our destination. "Well, we'll leave the future to come as it surely will. Now, tell me about where we're going tonight?" I settled back in my chair as Demetri regaled me with the night's entertainment.
After two fun-filled weeks with Demetri, we touched down in Los Angeles. I finally retrieved my lost suitcase, and we shared a lingering embrace, both finding it difficult to say goodbye. "Only one more year..." I murmured quietly to myself as I hugged him. "Then we won't ever have to be parted again."
Let me know your thoughts. Next chapter ends with a bite.
