Chapter 9
Theo:
"Where you off to?" Parrish asked, walking into the kitchen to grab a cup or more of coffee before he left for work.
"Beach." I said, grabbing a juice from the fridge.
"Beach? What's today again?" he asked looking confused and half sleep, despite being dressed and groomed. One thing I learned about him; he was not a morning person. It usually took a full cup of coffee before he was alert enough to pour a second cup and be ready to face the day.
"It's Monday, first day of Spring Break." I laughed.
"Right. And beach. Alone?" he asked.
"You seriously think I can go anywhere alone?"
"True." He sighed draining his cup.
"Does that coffee even help?"
"When I get off the late shift and have to go in for the morning shift, no it does not." He said pouring another cup.
"That's got to suck."
"It's not too bad. At least Beacon Hills is quiet. Well on the human front. Now what happens in the secret world of supernatural phenomenon, I couldn't tell you."
"Yeah, I don't think we can consider anything supernatural quiet. Even if normal humans don't always see it. How did you end up here anyway? You moved here, right? You weren't born here."
"No, I wasn't born here. Originally from Indiana."
"Then you went to the Army."
"Straight from high school, yep."
"So how did you end up here?"
"I'm honestly not sure. After I discharged, I knew I wanted to do something in law enforcement. I heard Beacon Hills was looking for officers, so I checked it out. I feel like I was drawn here. But knowing what I know now, I'm not sure that's a good thing." He chuckled.
"You seem to be handling things well."
"I wouldn't say that. More of I'm taking things at face value, for right now that's enough. If it gets to the point where I need to know more then I'll ask questions." he shrugged.
"I'm sure one of the others would answer any question you have. I'm still learning about all this too even though I've been involved since I was about ten."
"I'm sure I will have a sit down with Scott at some point and get more information. I'm in no rush right now. What I have learned so far is a lot to process." He said finishing his second cup and looking a lot more alert. "I have to get to work, and I assume you are waiting on a ride."
"Yeah, Liam and Mason should be here soon."
"Great." He looked me over and grinned. "Has Liam seen you shirtless?"
Shaking my head, confused, I looked down. I wasn't shirtless,.
"Uh, no. why?"
"You know you're not built like a 16-year-old, right?"
I quirked a brow and smiled. I hadn't really thought about it. I liked staying fit, but I didn't think I was built any different from anyone else. I was a bit bulkier then Stiles and Isaac. But Scott was still a bit bigger than me.
"Are you checking me out?" I teased. He rolled his eyes.
"Hardly, I like my men OVER the age of eighteen, thanks. Just pointing out that you are liable to give the kid a heart attack when he sees you."
"I don't want to give him a heart attack. But tempt him, definitely. In fact,…"I pulled out the sunscreen I got and set it on the counter. Parrish laughed. Mason's horn sounded just then.
"See you later." I said putting on my sunglasses.
JACJACJAC
We pulled in at the same time that Scott, Lydia, Isaac, and Allison did, and a few minutes later Stiles and Malia joined us. We got everything set up and Lydia and Allison even packed a cooler with drinks and snacks, so we didn't spend money at the stand set up near the parking lot.
The fun began when it was time for everyone to strip down to swim suits. Every hetero guy there watched the girls take off layers, leaving them in bikinis. Scott really shouldn't look at Lydia like that in public. Chuckling, I took off my own shirt. Hoping to entice a cute little blonde to oil me up.
"Whoa."
"Damn."
"Did anyone know he had that under those clothes?"
Lydia, Allison, and Malia all whispered.
"Hey."
"What the hell."
"Seriously?"
Scott, Stiles, and Isaac all said at once, indignantly.
I looked around to see what they were talking about, only to see them looking at me. I wasn't sure if I should be amused or flattered. Honestly, I was both. Grinning, I winked at them, and I may or may not have flexed a bit.
I looked to Liam, passing by Mason's open-mouthed expression, to see him staring, eyes flashing to gold and back again. I raised a brow at him, and he shook his head to clear it.
"Does he need sunscreen, I have some." Malia said rooting through her bag. Liam glared at her.
"If anyone is giving him sunscreen, it's going to be me." Liam snapped, then blushed.
I walked over and whispered, "You can oil me up anytime."
I heard the start of a growl before he cleared his throat.
"Did you uh," he stepped back. "Did you bring sunscreen?"
"No." I smirked, loving that I had this reaction from him.
Rolling his eyes, he grabbed his from his bag.
"Turn around." He instructed pouring some in his hand. Even though the lotion was cold his hands were not and the warm pressure he applied felt like heaven. I groaned involuntarily.
"Don't make that sound." He whined.
"Why?"
He grabbed my shoulders and turned me around.
"You know why." He muttered pouring more lotion into his hands.
"I can actually reach this part, you know." I said gesturing to my front as he applied the lotion.
"No, you can't." he said taking his sweet time making sure not a spot was uncovered. He paid specific attention to my abs and chest, fingers gliding over every part.
"I've got to get a boyfriend." Mason sighed.
"What happen to that date you had last week, Turner?" Liam asked him. I finally grabbed his hands. He looked up at me and smirked. My eyes had changed, and I hadn't even noticed.
"My turn." I said, even I could hear that my voice was bit deeper, grabbing the bottle. He turned his back to me so I could oil him up.
"No, but where we were sitting in the diner there was a mirror right behind me. he kept looking over my shoulder and smiling every few minutes. At one point I started talking about Quantum Physics and he just commented 'that's cool' and 'fascinating' at different intervals." Mason said rolling his eyes.
"Harsh." Isaac said.
Mason shrugged.
"It is what it is. I'm not that upset about it. But being around all of you sucks when I'm the only single one." He said then rolled his eyes again when Liam turned bright red. I finished applying the lotion both front and back.
"Let's just go swimming." Liam muttered, after I was done and his face was flushed with more than just a blush, heading towards the water.
I heard squeals as the girls were picked up and dumped in. Liam looked back at me, and I smiled thinking that looked like fun.
"Don't you dare." He said walking backwards away from me. I ran towards him, and he took off making it to the edge before I grabbed him, and dove in.
"Definitely got to get a boyfriend." Mason said joining us.
Liam:
Staring in the mirror I fussed with my shirt and thought, for the millionth time, that I should change. I straightened the collar, again. Why did nothing look right? Why was my hair stringy? Am I getting a pimple? I looked closer in the mirror but saw nothing. Why the hell am I so nervous? A knock at my door brought my attention away from my frantic thoughts.
"You look good." My dad said leaning in the doorway.
"Do I?" I asked spreading my arms for him to really look.
"Lose the jacket, you don't need it. It's still warm outside and you don't want to sweat your way through your… outing."
"Oh, uh, I'm just hanging out with Stiles, Malia and Theo." I said taking off my jacket and tossing it on my bed with a pile of other discarded clothes.
"Hmmm." He came in and closed the door, shoving some clothes aside and taking a seat. I went back to fussing with my hair in the mirror avoiding looking at him at all costs. This felt like one of those talks and I could guess for what.
"Liam, you know that I love you, unconditionally, right?"
"Yeah, of course."
"So, you have to know that anything you tell me, won't change that. No matter what."
I nodded, feeling uncomfortable with the direction of this conversation.
"I will be just as proud of you as I always am. I just want you to be happy. No matter whatever or whoever does that for you."
My heart slammed against my ribcage as I nodded. I couldn't look at him for long even through the mirror. I could take this moment and tell him but even as I opened my mouth the words stuck in my throat, and I ended up biting my tongue. He gave a sad smile but didn't say anything else about it.
"You look fine. Stop fussing. Go, have fun and be back by curfew." He said standing behind me in the mirror. With a pat on my shoulder, he opened the door to leave.
"Dad."
"Yeah."
"I…" Why couldn't I say the words? Why was this so hard? He gave me the perfect opening. Just say it, Dad, I'm bi and I'm going on a date with Theo. It's not like he didn't suspect it. Come on Liam, you can do this.
He smiled when I still hadn't said anything after a few minutes.
"It's okay. When you're ready. No rush." He said before leaving the room. I sighed feeling stupid and frustrated.
My phone chimed as I was kicking myself for not just saying it. Checking I saw a message from Theo.
THEO: PULLING UP NOW. SHOULD I COME TO THE DOOR?
I snorted shaking my head.
LIAM: I'M NOT A FAIR MAIDEN. I'M COMING OUT NOW.
"I'm leaving." I called out, jogging down the stairs.
"Where are you going?" my mom said coming into the entry way.
"Movies. Remember? I told you about it earlier."
"With Hayden?" she asked excitedly.
"No, with my friends."
"Oh, okay. Are you sure-."
"Mom, they're waiting. I have to go before we're late."
"Diane, let him go." My dad said coming up behind her.
"Fine, fine. Have fun and be back before curfew." She said.
"I will. Bye." I ran out of the house before she could say anything else.
Theo was actually waiting by the back door of the jeep and opened it as soon as he saw me. I laughed bypassing him to get in and moving over to give him room.
"Did you really just hold the door open for me?" I asked once we were settled.
"That's what you do on a date, you hold the door open for the-."
"If you call me a girl I swear…" I warned him. I heard Stiles and Malia snicker from the front seat.
"I wasn't going to call you a girl." He laughed.
"Why don't I believe you?"
He gave me a sweet, not so innocent smile. Shaking my head at him I turned to the front.
"Hey guys, thanks for doing this." I said to Malia and Stiles.
"No problem, happy too." Stiles said.
"What are we seeing?" I asked Theo.
"Depends, do you want funny or action or sappy?"
"Not sappy."
"Thank God. Those are not my thing."
"What is your thing?"
"You mean besides cute blondes with adorable puppy eyes?" he smirked.
I squeezed his hand super tight making him wince then laugh.
"Yes, besides that. I mean movie wise."
"Honestly, I'm a huge Tolkienite, especially The Hobbit and Fellowship of the Ring."
"Really. I would not have guessed that."
"Yeah, surprisingly it was my dad that got me started on them. Me and Corey both fell in love with the books. And as soon as I was out I watched the movies."
"Was it worth it, compared to the books?"
"They run about even. Slight differences but not much. What's your thing?"
"Greek Mythology. It's something I got into at my last school. English class covered a part of it, and I just enjoyed the stories, so I read up on more of it. there's a few movies out but not really accurate to what I read."
"So just the stories? Nothing to do with most of the heroes in those stories being half naked?" he teased.
"That, may or may not have been appealing." I admitted. He laughed running a hand down my overheated face.
"You really just want me to be permanently red, don't you?" I asked him.
"I look forward to it." he leaned in and whispered. I shivered when his lips brushed against my ear.
We ended up seeing John Carter. Not that I paid much attention to it. Theo put his arm around me in the theater. I leaned into him, placing a hand on his thigh. He was making things harder the way his fingers kept brushing the side of my neck. And of course, Malia and Stiles were a seat away from us making out so that didn't help.
"You think they are stuck together?" Theo whispered.
"It's possible. That much suction has to do something." I said looking at him. he was so close, blue green eyes dancing, lips turned up in that cocky inviting grin of his. I have heard the term kissable lips before but never thought of it being something real. But his really did look kissable. I didn't think about it when I leaned closer.
"Not here." He said quietly.
Disappointed but understanding I leaned away and nodded. We were in a movie theater and though there weren't a lot of people here it was still public. I went back to watching the movie. His hand brushed over my neck again.
"When I finally kiss you, it won't be in a movie theater, at least not the first time." He whispered. My hand clenched on his thigh, and I took a deep breath. He chuckled.
Stiles drove us to a small restaurant just on the edge of town that was almost completely empty, and a waitress led us back to a small sectioned off room that had four tables in it. He and Malia sat on the opposite side from us in another booth leaving Theo and I on our own.
"Are you ready for your trip tomorrow?" He asked.
"I am for the most part. I can't wait to see my cousins. We always have fun together. Uncle Mike is the epitome of dad jokes, and my dad usually joins in. It's almost like they feed off each other." I told him rolling my eyes.
"And you're aunt?" he asked, laughing.
"It's usually a toss-up with her."
"You don't get a long?"
"We do. But she and my mom together are usually too much to handle and with the way my mom has been lately, I'm sure I will come up in topic and then it will be a free for all."
"Really? Why?"
"My mom and my aunt are really close, twins. They share everything. What happened last year was instantaneously told to her. I am expecting to be constantly hounded on whether I took my meds or not. And then of course girls. I didn't really have a lot of friends or crushes that were girls. So, when homecoming happened my mother talked nonstop about it too anyone that would listen, including my aunt."
"You think your aunt will jump on the Hayden bandwagon."
"Oh, I know she will. She just thought it was so sweet when Hayden and I went to homecoming together."
"Does she know you two went out a few times after?"
"I'm sure she does. I'm hoping she doesn't make a big deal out of it since we haven't gone out since January. But my aunt is part of those high school sweethearts to married, couples."
"Ah, I get it. So, if you end up with Hayden then there's a chance for another high school sweetheart couple. They do know you're fifteen right?"
"I don't think they care." I laughed.
"What about your cousins? I mean if she has her own kids, is she on them the same way?"
"My cousins are a couple of years younger than me. Not even in high school yet. And I don't think she would push them if it didn't naturally happen. She will just take advantage of this situation because I already went out with Hayden before."
The waitress came then to take our order and we kept it simple. The smile she gave us was a mixture of sweet and a bit weird as she took our menus.
"How do you think your aunt would take this?" he asked holding up our hands.
"I don't know. She's not as straightlaced as my mom so she might be okay with it. I'm not sure she would really care if it's a guy or girl."
"You think your mom is straightlaced?"
"There's a reason she doesn't know about the wolf thing. She wouldn't be able to handle it."
"How did your dad take it when you told him?"
"About as well as can be expected. I didn't do it alone, Scott was there. So was his mom and Mr. Argent to explain it from an outsiders and parents perspective. But after it was all explained he was okay. we had a long talk afterwards, well a couple of days afterwards since things went sideways that same day. But we talked and we got him a copy of Mason's notes and he's okay with things now."
"Were you scared?"
"I was terrified. I swear if Scott hadn't been there I would have really freaked out. It was about the same when I told Mason."
"You mentioned your aunt, but what about your parents. Was that a whole high school sweetheart thing?"
"Yes and no. they knew each other in high school, dated for a while but then broke up when they went to separate colleges. Mom met my sperm donor in college, and I guess it was like a whirl wind or something. I don't know. She didn't see dad again until I was like 4 or 5 and I guess they picked up where they left off." I shrugged.
"You don't have contact with your bio-."
"No." I said shaking my head. "He's not someone that I should ever be in contact with."
"Sorry, you don't have to talk about it."
"It's okay. It was a long time ago. I remember it, but I hardly think about that time. He was abusive. Even when I was young I could still see bruises and hear screams, but I didn't understand it. When mom left him we stayed with Aunt Josie for a while before she met dad again. Bio dad gave up parental rights to me after they divorced, and dad adopted me. For the most part he's the only father I know, and I wouldn't have it any other way."
"I'm glad things worked out for you guys. I can see how much your dad loves you."
"Yeah he does. He made a point of telling me that before I left. I'm pretty sure he knows what this really was."
"Yeah, I don't doubt it. The way he made it sound… he said he knew I was important to you." He told me, smiling an unusual soft smile this time. "I told him you were just as important to me."
Of course, because it's me, I blushed and ducked my head. A sweet Theo is too much sometimes.
"Aren't you two just so cute together." The waitress squealed, coming back with our food. Which made me blush more. Theo just grinned at me. I could even hear Stiles and Malia aww from across the room.
"Are you two celebrating something?" She asked with a sweet southern twang.
"First date." Theo told her smiling.
"Oh my. Well, that's just… Did you boys want a picture for the occasion?" she asked. Theo glanced at me, and I could see the question in his expression.
"If you don't mind, that would be great." I told her, pulling out my phone, and pulling up the camera app.
"Not at all." She said taking my phone. Theo moved to my side of the booth, placing an arm around my shoulders. Pressed to together we smiled as she took two pictures before handing back my phone.
"Thank you so much." I told her.
"Of course. You two enjoy the rest of your date." She smiled at us. "Just so darn cute." She said shaking her head and walking away. Theo didn't move back to his seat, instead pulled his plate over to him.
The rest of the meal was good. We talked about his plans for spring break and what I was going to do out of town. Talked about my birthday coming up next week and I was pretty sure my dad got me a car which I was excited about. I was even taking half a day on my birthday so I could get my license. Talked about his birthday which is November 23. He hasn't celebrated a birthday since his mother died, which just seemed wrong.
The ride back was spent whispering back and forth in the backseat. His fingers running through my hair was something I never thought I would enjoy but I so was. All too soon Stiles was pulling over and parking. Looking up I saw that we were a few houses down from mine.
"I'm going to walk you home." Theo said, seeing my confusion.
"Do you have a weird kink for walking me home?" I laughed. Even Malia and Stiles chuckled. They had been mostly quiet during the ride, leaving us to just be with each other. Almost like it was a singular date. I appreciated that a lot.
"I might." He shrugged.
Holding hands, we started a slow pace towards my house. He stopped us at the house next door, backing me against a high cement edge and caged me in. The spot we were in was dark, no one could really see anything unless you paid really close attention.
"So, it was a good night, right?" he asked leaning in close.
"It was. I had a great time."
"Good. Me too." He was so close we were almost touching. He was teasing now. His lips barely brushed against mine before moving away.
"Are you going to actually kiss me or what?" I asked leaning in. he moved back a bit, just enough that I couldn't quite kiss him.
"I don't know, I kind of like how you're responding right now. I can see in those adorable blue eyes that you want me too." He grinned.
"Such a tease." I snorted. "I really wish I had your patience, but I don't."
Grabbing him, I crushed my lips to his, taking him completely off guard. He recovered enough to wrap his arms around me. my fingers curled in his hair. I was right, his lips are kissable, so damned kissable. Why did I wait so long to do this? My imagination really didn't do this justice. This felt like so much more than just a kiss. Whatever was happening between us, this made it so much stronger.
He groaned pulling me closer. I didn't want to let him go, I didn't want to stop but breathing was going to become an issue, soon. How long could a body survive without oxygen again? I'm sure I still had time before I passed out. Maybe.
"That… was so worth the wait." I said once we were separated, panting to catch my breath.
"Yes, it was." He said, dropping his head to my shoulder and shaking with laughter. "How the hell am I going to keep my hands off you now?"
"I have no clue. Did we just make things more difficult?" This was going to be problematic when we got back to school.
"Yes, we did. but I don't care." He said, kissing me again. I gripped his shirt, hoping to keep him there but he grinned, pulling away. I reluctantly dropped my arms.
"Oh, I really should go." I groaned. "Before I can't make myself leave."
"Good idea." He said stepping back, putting some distance between us.
"Okay, yeah. Go. I need to go." I said not moving. My hands reached to grab him again. Chuckling he grabbed them, holding them tight and leaned in for a peck before letting go and backing away.
"Go Liam."
"Yeah, okay. night." I said running my hand through my hair and turning away lest I do something else. I turned to watch him jog back to the car before going into the house.
"Liam, that you honey?" my mom called. I rolled my eyes. Who else would it be with a key? Both her and dad were here already.
"Yeah." I said hoping to make a quick escape, but nope. Here she comes from the living room and dad comes out of the kitchen.
"Did you have a good time?"
"Yeah the movie was awesome." I told her one foot on the step, hoping that would convey that I wanted to go.
"Did you eat? Are you hungry?"
"No, we grabbed something while we were out. I'm just gonna head to bed. We leave early tomorrow right?"
"Yes. Get some sleep."
"Okay, night." I told her.
I made the mistake of looking at my dad and the grin on his face. I'm pretty sure I knew what he was seeing when he looked at me. I said nothing just smiled and took the stairs two at a time to escape. I stripped down and flopped back on my bed with my phone.
LIAM: SOOOO NOT A BAD KISSER.
MASON: :-o :* :D ;;) :) :X
