The walls of Marguerite's chamber bore silent witness to the timeless dance of two souls bound by fate and love. Three days seemed to meld into one, punctuated only by the soft footsteps of Avalonians who arrived with trays laden with refreshing water, aromatic coffee and delicious food.
Emerging from the soft sheets, Marguerite stretched nonchalantly, her gaze drifting to the vast expanse of the balcony. "We haven't set foot outside this room in three days," she mused aloud, a hint of wonder in her voice.
John, with a mischievous glint in his eyes, propped himself up on one elbow. "Well, we could always aim for five," he suggested playfully.
Marguerite laughed, the sound light and melodic. The notion of secluding themselves even longer in this paradise was tempting, and the world outside could wait a little more. For now, they had each other, and that was all that mattered.
In Avalon's grand dining room, a long wooden table was set with delicious breakfast. The rest of the explorers, Abigail included, sat together, enjoying the warm morning sunlight filtering in.
As plates were filled and cups topped up, Challenger, ever the observant one, remarked, "It seems two of our party are missing this fine morning."
Finn, not one to miss a beat, replied with a cheeky grin, "Well, I believe they're on day... what? Four of their 'do not disturb' marathon?"
Veronica, with a playful smirk, added, "Must be something in the Avalonian air."
Ned Malone chimed in, "Maybe we should send a search party."
Summerlee, trying to steer the conversation away from further playful insinuations, interjected, "You know, amidst all the jests and merriment, it's heartwarming to see two souls finding solace in each other in such challenging times. It's a testament to the power of love."
Abigail nodded in agreement. "In Avalon, we've always believed that love is the purest form of magic. It has the power to heal, to comfort, and to strengthen."
When the group's attention turned to her, she added, "In all seriousness, and while I understand your playful nature, I think it's best we respect Marguerite and John's privacy at this time."
Finn, still holding back giggles, responded, "Come on, we are just having a little fun!"
Abigail continued with a calmness that commanded respect, "Avalon's magic is powerful and can be therapeutic. Given the revelations and emotional turmoil Marguerite has faced, it's beneficial for her to have this time of relaxation and healing. Let them enjoy their time together without interruptions. When they're ready, they'll join us. Until then, we continue with our own tasks." The group nodded in agreement, once again reminded of the magic and wonder of Avalon and the importance of cherishing and respecting each other's journeys.
After a little while, Marguerite and John finally made their appearance, walking in together with an air of refreshed contentment, joining the group with light-hearted teasing and welcoming smiles.
Finn, unable to contain herself, smirked and quipped, "Oh, look who decided to grace us with their presence."
Malone, suppressing a smile, added, "We were almost considering sending a search party."
Summerlee, always the gentleman, rose from his seat. "Come, join us. We've kept some breakfast warm for you both."
As they settled down, the atmosphere was cheerful and jovial. Though the group enjoyed their playful jabs, it was evident they were genuinely happy to see Marguerite and John so content and rejuvenated.
Marguerite, looking around at the group, asked, "So, what have we missed?"
Veronica spoke up, her voice filled with a mix of excitement and determination, "Nothing really. Mother and I have been catching up. She has been telling me about my role as protector. I am starting my official training tomorrow."
Challenger, his eyes gleaming with enthusiasm, added, "I've immersed myself in old parchments and textbooks... So much long-lost secret knowledge... It's breathtaking."
Finn replied humorously, "I have done absolutely nothing, and I've enjoyed every minute of it."
The laughter and chatter continued as they enjoyed the meal, the bond between them stronger than ever, forged through countless adventures and shared secrets. As the sun climbed higher, bathing Avalon in its golden light, they each felt a sense of belonging and anticipation for the days to come.
After breakfast Marguerite found Abigail, sitting peacefully under the shade of the trees, a serene smile on her face. "May I join you?" Marguerite asked, a hint of curiosity in her eyes.
Abigail looked up and warmly welcomed her, "Of course, my dear, please sit."
Marguerite sat down beside her, enjoying the cool shade. "Avalon has a certain charm to it, a tranquility I haven't found anywhere else," she remarked.
Abigail nodded, "It's a special place, filled with ancient wisdom and harmonious energy." After a moment of shared silence, she softly inquired, "How are you feeling amidst all of this? I can imagine it's a lot to process."
Marguerite exhaled deeply, her defenses faltering. "All these revelations are overwhelming. But what upsets me the most is the realization that I was so cruelly deprived of what could have been a wonderful childhood. I don't think I could ever get over it. It's so devastating."
Abigail squeezed Marguerite's hand reassuringly, "It is natural to feel that way. Loss and what could have been can be painful to contemplate. But remember, every experience, pleasant or painful, has shaped you into the woman you are today—strong, resilient, and compassionate. Embrace your journey, and know that you have a family, ready to make up for lost time."
Marguerite, absorbing Abigail's words, looked at her with curiosity, "What are they like… my biological parents?"
Abigail smiled warmly, "They are wonderful people, full of kindness and strength. Your mother, Lady Catherine, has a grace about her, a quiet strength that I see in you. And Lord Robert, he's a gentleman through and through, steadfast and honorable. They've both very eager to reconnect."
Marguerite looked at Abigail intently, "So, you think we will survive this?"
Abigail took a deep breath and met Marguerite's gaze, "Surviving and prevailing is what you and your friends have always done. I believe in all of you. And yes, with determination and unity, I truly think you will win and find your way home."
Marguerite nodded, taking in Abigail's words before asking, "Veronica is starting her training as the Protector tomorrow. Is there something specific I should be doing?"
Abigail offered a warm smile, her eyes radiating maternal warmth. "Continue what you're already doing—unwind, relax, rediscover yourself. Savor these moments and the time with John. Consider this a special prelude, a gift from me to you, a honeymoon before the honeymoon."
Marguerite glanced up, a flicker of vulnerability in her eyes, "Honeymoon... Do you actually believe that is a possible future for us?"
Abigail met her gaze with unwavering confidence, her voice gentle yet firm. "Absolutely, I do. In spite of the challenges and uncertainties, love has a way of forging the most resilient bonds. You and John have a connection that can overcome any obstacle, and I have every hope for a future filled with happiness for both of you."
Marguerite furrowed her brow, a hint of skepticism in her voice as she pondered aloud, "But is it really love, considering our very meeting was predestined?"
Abigail took a moment, choosing her words carefully. "Predestined or not, it doesn't make the feelings any less real. Fate may have brought you two together, but it's the choices you make, the moments you share, and the love you nurture that truly define your relationship. Destiny can set the stage, but it's the heart that decides the depth of the connection."
Marguerite smiled faintly, "Thank you, Abigail. Your words are very comforting. I think you'll have me convinced in the end."
Abigail responded with a warmth in her eyes, "Remember, Marguerite, my door is always open. Whenever you need to talk or have questions, you're more than welcome. I'm here for you."
