I don't own Disney's The Owl House. I do, however own the Main OC. Hope you all enjoy my story on this lovely show.
Chapter Eight
The day had started out nicely. After normal morning routines, Eda was showing a card game native to the realm to Danielle. Eda's opponent for the first round was the cutie… Owlbert. Setting up the game, Eda and Owlbert stare down each other.
"Watch closely, Danielle. Hexes Hold'em is the most tricky game on the Boiling Isles," said Eda, showing the cards to Danielle. "Any proper witch knows how to play."
"I've never been much for card games," said Danielle, looking at the cards. "I've only ever played solitaire, gin rummy and uno."
"Now when it looks like the deck is stacked against you, that's when you break out the wildcard," said Eda, taking out a specific card and winning the game. "Woo, I win! In your adorable owl face. Ah, I love the feeling of victory; it feels... fluffy?"
"Eda…" said Danielle, scooting to the edge of the couch. "Beastie is trying to get out again."
Running on up upstairs to her room, Eda scrambles to find an elixir. Danielle and King search as well looking for any elixir that was around. Opening a chest, Eda finds out that she is all out of elixirs.
"Oh, boy," said Eda, grabbing an empty potion bottle. "This is terrible. I'm out of elixir."
"No offense Eda but I rather not go through that again," said Danielle, showing a picture of the beast on her cellphone. "Though I did get a great shot of it."
"I'd say," said Eda, looking at her picture. "I know I should be repulsed, but that look is fierce."
"So, we'll be heading to market to grab some more elixirs," said Danielle, pocketing her phone before looking at Eda. "I could learn how to make elixirs. Most of it is plant based from what I read from books. It would save you the hassle of always having to buy it."
"Ah yeah, the plant glyph has been very helpful in that regard," said Eda, standing up. "But you don't know what the plants look like yet so this time its market."
"Okay, I have no problem with that," said Danielle, walking towards the bedroom doors.
"I'm stealing everything that's not nailed down!" said King, following after Danielle.
"Not as long as I'm around," said Danielle, looking at King.
"Before we go, would anyone like to play one more hand of Hexes Hold'em?" asked Eda, patting her pockets. "Hey, where are my cards?"
"Sorry Eda," said Danielle, holding up the deck of cards. "But the beastie comes first."
Seeing that she wasn't gonna get her cards back anytime soon, Eda relented. Heading towards the market, Eda and King head to the apothecary shop known as Mr. Elixir. Danielle spots Willow and Gus nearby, talking amongst themselves.
"Hey, Eda. I'm gonna go talk with Willow and Gus," said Danielle, pointing towards the two. "That okay?"
"Go," said Eda, ushering Danielle off. "Mingle."
"Thanks," said Danielle, heading towards Willow and Gus. "Hi Willow. Hi Gus. How you been doing?"
"We've been fine," replied Willow, looking at Danielle. "We've been talking about Moonlight Conjurings."
"You don't seem so thrilled," said Danielle, noticing that Willow and Gus were down. "Something wrong?"
"Them," replied Willow, pointing to Amity and a few other young witches. "Amity's having a moonlight conjuring and invited everyone but me."
"And she keeps posting about it on her Penstagram account," said Gus, summoning a purple scroll and showing the account.
""It's conjuring night! No dorks allowed"?" said Danielle, reading the text. "Why not just have your own? Care to explain this Moonlight Conjuring?"
"You spend the night at someone's house, telling stories, playing games..." said Willow, then holding up an opened book. "Then you bring something to life with moon magic!"
"So, it's a slumber party with magic involved," said Danielle, looking at the book. "I've never really been to one."
"Gus and I have never been to one either," said Willow, pointing at the picture in the book. "You need at least three people and…"
"Sorry you couldn't get an invite to the conjuring, Willow," said a Three-Eyed Witch Girl, laughing before looking at Amity. "Only real witches allowed."
"Leave her alone," said Amity, looking away before walking away. "It's not her fault she was born without talent."
"Whoa, calm down Willow," said Danielle, slapping a vine away after Willow got a little testy. "Deep breath in, deep breath out. Keep doing that a few times till you calm down."
"Thanks Danielle," said Willow, before looking at Danielle. "But you're right, we should have our own Moonlight Conjuring."
"Are you serious? This was on my bucket list," said Gus, taking out a list of his. "After owning a real human bucket!"
"Think we could have it at the Owl House?" asked Willow, staring at Danielle.
"I'd have to ask Eda first," replied Danielle, rubbing the back of her neck. "It is her house after all. I'm just a guest at the moment."
"Okay," said Willow, watching Danielle head back towards Eda.
"Hey, Eda, question," said Danielle, gaining Eda's attention. "Can Willow, Gus and me have a Moonlight Conjuring at the Owl House tonight?"
"Not tonight, I'm going out," replied Eda, holding her hand up before walking away. "I need you to watch the house, I have many precious objects in there."
"Like me!" said King, only to be grabbed by the scruff by Eda. "Whoa!"
"You're coming with me," said Eda, staring at King. "I need an extra pair of eyes looking out for pickpockets, and an extra pair of hands in case I want to pickpocket."
"Okay, I'll explain it to Willow and Gus," said Danielle, seeing Eda walk away with King before Willow and Gus approached her.
"Danielle!" said Willow, looking at Danielle. "What did Eda say?"
"Oh, look!" said Gus, pointing up towards the moon. "The moon is rising into place. And the celestial powers only align once a year."
"I'm sorry guys. Eda said no," said Danielle, looking at Willow and Gus. "She's going out tonight and wants me to watch the house. I don't want to lose her trust here."
"Oh… okay," said Willow and Gus, walking away. "We understand."
"I wonder what I can do to make it up to them," said Danielle, staring at the two before walking in the direction Eda went.
Night time has finally fallen. While Eda was preparing to leave, Danielle had put together a little snack. Grabbing one of the books that she brought from home, Danielle pulls a blanket around her before plopping down on the couch. Unknowingly, Willow and Gus were hiding in the bushes outside the Owl House.
"Danielle, you're in charge while I'm out," said Eda, putting on a cloak. "Make sure Hooty doesn't get into any trouble."
"Hoot hoot!" said Hooty, opening the door. "I don't need a babysitter. I'm a big boy house!"
"Please work with me here Hooty," said Danielle, getting up and walking towards the front door. "Where's King? I thought he was going with you."
"He's right here," replied Eda, opening her cloak revealing King in a baby carrier. "His little body just conks out when he's weightless. Look at this."
"Aaw, he's adorable," said Danielle, petting King's cheek.
"Anyway, really going now. And Danielle..." said Eda, only for Willow and Gus to pop out of the bushes. "Wha…"
"Willow! Gus!" said Danielle, staring at the two. "What are you doing here?"
"Yeah, what are you doing here?" asked Eda, staring at the two as well.
"We can help Danielle watch the house," replied Willow, staring at Eda. "You'll have an extra two sets of eyes."
"Please, let us do a Moonlight Conjuring?" asked Gus, staring at Eda with puppy eyes.
"Two birds with one stone, eh? Alright then," said Eda, mounting her staff. "But if you mess up the house, I will never trust you again. No pressure! Byeeeeee!"
"Wow, I-I can't believe you convinced her," said Danielle, before ushering the two in. "Welcome to the Owl House."
"Look at all these human treasures," said Gus, rummaging through a chest before grabbing a skull. "And actual humans!"
"Gus, could you please put that back?" asked Danielle, watching Gus put the skull back in the chest. "Thank you."
"I don't think I've seen this book before," said Willow, picking up Danielle's book.
"That's actually from home," said Danielle, looking at Willow. "Mom got me into the series."
"A book from the human realm!" said Gus, staring at the book. "Can I read it sometime?"
"I don't see why not," replied Danielle, sitting on the couch. "I only brought the first three books with me though. I'd have to sneak back and get the last four."
"Yes!" said Gus, excited.
"So, how does this Moonlight Conjuring go?" asked Danielle, looking at Willow.
"Well first, we find an object to animate. Since it's our first time we should pick something meaningful," replied Willow, before looking at some flowers. "Something beautiful."
"Like this strangely buff little man?" said Gus, holding up an action figure he found.
"That's not exactly what I meant by "beautiful"," said Willow, only for Gus to give her the puppy eyes and whimper for added effect. "Okay, buff boy it is."
"Tonight he shall be risen!" said Gus, excited.
"Is there a way to get rid of the enchantment afterwards?" asked Danielle, staring at the two. "I may have seen a horror movie back in the day that I shouldn't have and I don't want to experience it should the doll go rogue."
"There should be," said Willow, looking at Danielle. "Maybe Eda knows it."
Grabbing some candles and placing them in a circle, Danielle, Gus, and Willow sit down on the floor. Placing the action figure in the center, Danielle reads up on the incantation in the book.
"Hey Hooty, can you keep an eye on everything?" asked Danielle, looking at Hooty. "I don't know how well this will work."
"Abso-hootely!" replied Hooty, excited. "Finally, I get to be a part of something!"
"According to the conjuring books I've read, we say the incantation and make a connection with the doll," said Willow, before holding hands with Danielle and Gus.
"Figurine," said Gus, correcting Willow.
"No way, I will have no part in this. Count me out!"
Moonlight, we call, we sing.
Moonlight, take this chance.
Moonlight, come tie the string.
Moonlight, start the dance!
The moon continues rising. Hooty looks up at it. The moon stops moving, and a burst of blue light comes out of it. A similar burst of blue light bursts out from between Willow, Danielle, and Gus, spreading around the living room and extinguishing the candles. They all open one eye and look at the action figure. The entire house rumbles. Hooty blinks, his eyes turning the same blue color before making ghostly noises. Birds fly away from the house while cawing. The foundation cracks as the Owl House rises. The teens scream as they lose their balance. The Owl House stops rising, now standing on giant bird legs.
"I think something went wrong. I think we animated the house," said Danielle, standing up and opening the front door. "Yup, we did."
"By the power of moonlight, I have risen," said Hooty, making the house walk off the property. "Hoot hoot!"
"He's in some kind of trance!" said Gus, looking at Hooty.
"Hooty! You have to stop!" said Danielle, seeing that Hooty locked them out. "Go back to the property."
"Our magic must've spread through the house instead of the doll!" said Willow, thinking about what happened.
"Gus!" shouted the girls, seeing Gus fall off the edge and grabbing his hands.
"Figurine!" shouted Gus, correcting the girls.
"Hooty! Stop this second!" shouted Danielle, only to see that Hooty did stop this time. "Huh…?"
"How'd we do that?" asked Gus, finally back on land.
"I think I get it," replied Danielle, looking at their joined hands. "Hooty wasn't listening before because we weren't holding hands but now that we are he's listening. Control the animated object by joined hands but lose control by not joining hands."
"Wow," said Willow, looking at Danielle. "You got that really quickly. You're quite studious."
"Yeah, I tend to be," said Danielle, rubbing the back of her neck. "I tend to get A's and B's in school. I only ever got a C once but that spelling test was really hard, no one passed."
"Okay, what do we do now?" asked Gus, looking at Danielle.
"Hey, is that..." said Willow, recognizing someone nearby.
"It's Boscha," said Gus, recognizing the girl as well. "That girl who made fun of us."
"She noticed us," said Willow, seeing Boscha look their way. "What do we do?"
"Hmmm… I don't know," replied Danielle, looking at Willow and Gus. "I'm not that much for pranks."
"Ah, she's gone," said Gus, seeing Boscha walk away.
"Let's head back to the property then," said Danielle, pointing in the direction of the property.
"Amity's updating her Penstagram," said Gus, looking at his Penstragram.
""Shout out to my fellow witches. #Humans can bite it"," said Danielle, reading the text. "You know what, I'm not letting her get to me."
"What was that?" asked Willow, feeling the ground move slightly and seeing a rope latched on the house.
"A ballista!" said Danielle, seeing one in the distance with people around it. "What do they want?"
The leader of the group signals to shoot again. Another giant bolt with rope attached secures the house in place. Danielle glares at the leader as he jumps in front of them. Activating a plant glyph, Danielle sends the leader flying before the rest of his group jumps them and ties them up. Flinging them in the house, the leader has his group tie the Owl House to a cart before signaling his group to move.
"Dang it!" said Danielle, struggling in their binds. "If it was just one or two, I could probably handle them but not all of them."
"I'm sorry, Danielle," said Willow, sadly. "I shouldn't have asked for this Moonlight Conjuring."
"Willow," said Danielle, looking towards Willow before feeling that the house stopped moving. "Did the house stop moving?"
The front door squeaks open. The leader of the group laughs as he pushes them out the door and toward his colleagues. Danielle glares at the leader, wondering how to get out of this mess.
"Take the house and rip out the house demon," said the Leader, shutting the front door. "We can sell it to restaurants as exotic meat."
"Why you…" said Danielle, glaring at the leader. "Hooty is not food, ya big jerk!"
"What do we do with the worms?" asked a Colleague, staring at his leader.
"Throw them over the cliff," replied the Leader, staring at his colleague.
"Wait, what?" said Danielle, before being pushed alongside Willow and Gus towards the cliff. "Nooo! Let us go!"
"All righty, kids," said the Colleague, staring at the bound teens. "Here's the end of your short little lives."
"Wait! Wait! Wait!" said Gus, turning around and facing the Colleague. "Is this really what you wanna be doing with your life? Tossing kids from cliffs?"
"Actually, yes. It's been my dream since I was a boy," replied the Colleague, only for them to stare at him for a long moment confused. "I was a strange child. Whee!"
"Oh my gosh," said Willow, as their binds got caught on a branch. "You have got a loud scream Danielle."
"Sorry," said Danielle, tears in the corners of her eyes. "Eda is going to have a field day with us if we don't die here."
"Danielle, I'm so sorry. You wanted to turn back but I wanted to show off to Amity," said Willow, looking away. "The truth is she and I used to be friends."
"Eep!" said Danielle, seeing the branch break slightly.
"We played together as kids, but when she got her magical powers and I didn't, she stopped hanging out with me," said Willow, looking sad.
"Guys, is now the best time?" asked Gus, staring at the girls.
"I just wanted to prove to her that I was a powerful witch, too," said Willow, sighing.
"You are powerful, the both of you," said Danielle, before looking at the branch. "Willow, is there any way you can reach that root so you can use your magic?"
"I can try," said Willow, wriggling her arm free and reaching for the branch. "Got it."
Utilizing her magic, Willow was able to get the root to sprout into a large enough vine with leaves. Having the leaf under them, Danielle urged Willow to cut them free, which she did so. Setting off her light glyph and lightning glyph combo, Danielle conjures up her light katana. Raising the leaf up to ground level, they glare at the leader and his group. Danielle jumps off and takes out the nearest one of the group. Willow was able to swat away a few with her vines. Gus was able to create an afterimage of Danielle, making it look like there was more of her when she electrocuted the leader and the rest of his group.
"You've messed with the wrong teens," said Danielle, pointing her katana at the leader and seeing Willow and Gus run towards the house.
"Danielle!" shouted Willow and Gus, staring at Danielle. "Come on!"
"On it," said Danielle, running inside the house and joining hands with Willow and Gus. "Hooty, home!"
"I am home," said Hooty, making more ghostly noises.
"I mean the property," said Danielle, before sighing.
"Actually, I'd go help Eda. She's in a sticky situation at the night market."
"Scratch that. Eda needs help," said Danielle, groaning. "To the Night Market."
"What?" said Willow and Gus, staring at Danielle.
"Eda needs help," said Danielle, looking at Willow and Gus.
Standing up, Hooty heads towards the night market. And true to word, the voice was right, Eda needed help. After spotting Eda, Danielle tells Hooty to stomp on the stand. The owner stares stunned seeing his stand destroyed. Danielle has Hooty sit while she jumps out and helps Eda.
"Wait… what?" said Eda, staring at the Owl House. "Is that my house? Kid, what did…"
"I'll tell you later," said Danielle, cutting the magical chains off Eda before looking at King. "King, grab the elixir."
"Got it," said King, grabbing the elixir and running into the Owl House with Eda and Danielle.
"Sorry, Tibbles, old boy," said Eda, tossing a Hexes Hold'em card at the owner. "It looks like you forgot about the wild card."
"Hooty, to the property," said Danielle, closing the front door.
"Curse you, witch. Curse you, bone boy. I'll have my revenge," shouted the Owner, watching the Owl House walk away. "Tibblet-Tibblie Grimm Hammer the Third will have his revenge."
"Sorry Eda. Turns out we animated the house," said Danielle, staring at Eda while the house kept moving to its destination.
"Don't punish Danielle," said Willow, looking at Eda. "We're the ones who really wanted to do the conjuring just to up Amity."
"If you're gonna eat me, just do it now," said Gus, stepping in front of Willow. "Do it now!"
"You two didn't have to do that," said Danielle, looking at Willow and Gus.
"Yes, Danielle," said Willow, turning around and facing Danielle. "We do."
"Well, you're all guilty, so you'll all be punished by cleaning my house top to bottom," said Eda, conjuring forth cleaning supplies. "And another thing... that was totally amazing. And I'm so joining you for next year's conjuring. Now get to work."
"Um, how bout we wait till after Hooty gets us back completely," said Danielle, looking at Eda. "It's just going to get messier till we're back."
"Point taken," said Eda, sitting on the couch. "Oh, snacks."
Fun Fact: that spelling test Danielle had is true, I flunked it and everyone else in my class and other classes in high school
Owl Pellet #5
After having cleaned the house after the joyride and bidding farewell to Willow and Gus, the inhabitants of the Owl House head to bed. Unbeknownst to them, something was walking their way upstairs before crawling under Danielle's blanket.
"Mmm… what the?" said Danielle, sleepy while pulling her blanket to the side to reveal the action figure clinging to her ankle while looking at her. "Aaaaaaaaaaaah!"
"Weh?!" shouted King, startled awake and looking at Danielle. "Danielle…"
"Die! Die! Die! Die!" screamed Danielle, getting the action figure off her ankle and slamming it with her pillow before setting off a light glyph. "Return to once you came!"
"Whoa there," said Eda, coming in the room and grabbing Danielle's hand that held the light sphere.
"Hooty to the rescue!" shouted Hooty, coming in through the window.
"I got it. I can undo the effects of the conjuring" said Eda, grabbing the action figure before seeing Danielle rocking back and forth in a corner. "You two calm her down."
"It's gonna kill me, it's gonna kill me," said Danielle, shivering in fright.
Hooty curls around Danielle while King climbs into her lap. Almost all night, Hooty and King comforted her while Eda reversed the conjuring on the action figure.
