Morningpaw hissed as another twig poked through the silver mesh that enclosed and trapped the flame-pelted apprentice and jabbed itself into her side. Ever since her capture, the small flame-pelted she-cat had been subjected to the Twolegs poking and probings with their sticks that they stick through tiny holes in her cage, they've shakin the cage with Morningpaw inside, making her dizzy, and been feeding some type of Twoleg meat that admittedly wasn't all that bad.
It's been a dreary experience overall and with each passing moment the jade green eyed she-cat fears she will never be rescued. After all, why would RiverClan want to risk it all on one apprentice that hadn't even lived amongst them for an entire season? She would have. But Morningpaw wasn't a leader anymore, she didn't have the authority to make decisions concerning who to risk the Clan for, Morningpaw only had herself right now. Which left her plenty of time to think. She thought of her past life. Her decision to start over and how that turned into a botched attempt at reliving her past life that only led to an entanglement with RiverClan. It also brought about the cats she had lost but also those she had gained. No more was she a proud ThunderClan warrior and leader but instead was all that in a loyal hardworking RiverClan apprentices body. Her past as Firestar will always be a part of who Morningpaw is but she also knows that she can't always look to the past to create a future.
It brought Morningpaw to wonder about her friends. Wondering if Heavypaw had reached them and told them of her capture. If anyone would come to rescue her it would certainly be Whiteclaw and Silverstream. Those two had stuck by her through thick and thin ever since her joining RiverClan. Oakheart would also certainly come for her, that's just how noble the RiverClan deputy was. Her mentor Mistyfoot would also feel obligated to save her apprentice. But it was Crookedstar that Morningpaw most wondered about. It was his decision that was final. Would Crookedstar choose to save her or would he cut his losses and leave her to figure out her own escape.
Morningpaw closed her jade green eyes, trying to muster up some rest while the Twolegs were wandering off, distracted by something else that thankfully wasn't Morningpaw. Sleep surprisingly came easy for her, it was a blink of an eye, from one moment to the next she went from a dreary torturous cage to an underwater utopia.
Like before with Crookedstar, Morningpaw found herself submerged in a sheer clear flowing river where the ability to breathe underwater came natural as if breathing regular air on land. It was surprising to find herself here again without the need of the Moonstone but it was a much more welcomed change in scenery than the one in the waking world.
Morningpaw took a moment to take it all in. The surrounding misty reeds and cattails stalks stretched upwards for a fox-length and even if it appeared that they broke the river's surface they still seemed to be growing. Taller than any reeds and cattails that Morningpaw had ever seen. The tiny minnows that past by in a shoal were glittery with starlight, as though apart of an extension of StarClan, it was tempting to reach out to catch them but Morningpaw refrained from doing so, feeling it wasn't her place to take something from StarClan.
The pebbly underwater floor felt close to spongy as the flame-pelted she-cat flexed her paws, feeling anxious to know what had brought her back to StarClan.
She couldn't have died in that cage could she? Morningpaw had to shake the notion from her mind, she would know if she had died. She certainly has done a lot of dying in her past life.
"I have told you that StarClan would be with you."
Morningpaw whirled around at the sudden voice that came from behind. And there stood the same StarClan cat that Morningpaw had met during confession with Crookedstar about her past life as a ThunderClan leader.
A starlight glimmering snowy-white with black spots StarClan cat, who she recalled was named Brambleberry, was approaching Morningpaw with haste.
"I've sensed danger around you and have come to aid you, Morningpaw." Brambleberry mewed, coming to touch noses with the short flame-pelted apprentice. "I can't stand idly by when those I swore to watch over those who are in need of me. Help is on it's way."
A raspy screeching sound pierced the warm glow that Morningpaw had been falling into at the fact that this StarClan cat, who had no obligations towards Morningpaw and her safety, was coming to her aid, it sounded like a high pitched cackle that was filled with malice intent, so much so that it even caused Brambleberry to stiffen. Which wasn't a good sign if a StarClan cat of all beings was put on edge.
Both Morningpaw and Brambleberry turned to see a ragged, tortoiseshell-and-white she-cat stalk out from behind a curtain of reeds, the same malice that came from her voice was also in the nearly transparent amber eyes.
"Do you really believe that that weak minded fool will come save her?" The mysterious she-cat mocked, her snaggly teeth bared condescendingly. "RiverClan doesn't have a good record of keeping their promises."
Brambleberry visibly bristled at the interrupting stranger's comments. "Crookedstar will come, Mapleshade. You have no authority to be here."
"He made a promise to me and I'm making sure that he keeps it." Mapleshade snidely retorted, beginning to leisurely circle around the two she-cat's, putting them both on edge.
"He will also find a way to defeat you as well." Brambleberry added, her blue eyes flashing. "Already your influence is weakening."
Mapleshade then let out a snarl. "I've many more plans to choose from, this is merely a little hiccup in the grand scheme of my revenge."
"Your plans for revenge will eventually be your downfall once and for all." Brambleberry countered, sounding sure of herself.
"Then I'll be sure to bring you all down with me!" Mapleshade growled, suddenly leaping at Brambleberry, claws outstretched, Brambleberry hissed in return and braced herself as Mapleshade rammed into her. Both she-cat's went down in a flurry of hissing and flashing claws, Morningpaw was struck by this unexpected turn of events, just when she was preparing herself to jump in to aid Brambleberry--
"Morningpaw!"
The flame-pelted apprentice's jade green eyes popped open and she gasped as she once again found herself back in the cage and not in the watery depths of StarClan where she had left Brambleberry fighting against another cat called Mapleshade.
It took her a moment to get her bearings but when she did she was ecstatic to see Whiteclaw's face pressed up against the cage wires.
"Whiteclaw!" Morningpaw meowed in relief. Of course her best friend would come and save her. "I almost thought you wouldn't come."
Whiteclaw seemed to scoff at the very notion. "I'd always come to your rescue! Your my--" before her best friend could finish, Oakheart suddenly appeared and pushed the muscular dark brown tom aside, the RiverClan deputy's face appearing serious.
"Don't worry, Morningpaw. We'll have you out in just a moment." Oakheart then began prying open the cage door by messing around with the latch. Eventually, after an agonizing and stressful few heartbeats where Morningpaw feared that it wouldn't open, the cage door opened and Morningpaw was freed.
Once Morningpaw was out, she couldn't help but ask. "Where is everyone--"
Loud shouts and scared screeching coming from the Twolegs drew Morningpaw's attention towards a swarm of her Clanmates descending upon the group of Twolegs that had been holding Morningpaw hostage for the last few days. She even spotted Stonefur amongst them! It was one of the most glorious things she's seen so far since being revived to once again redo her life. All her Clanmate's, though not the ones she called Clanmate's in her past life, had all come to her rescue! It was so awesome inspiring that Morningpaw wanted to jump in and help but Whiteclaw's sturdy presence at her side kept her from doing so.
"Whiteclaw, get Morningpaw out of here." Oakheart ordered, turning away from the pair of friends to go back to join their Clanmates fighting the Twolegs.
It was disappointing when Whiteclaw actually did begin to lead Morningpaw away. Though as she began moving, the flame-colored furred she-cat apprentice began to really feel all her aches and pains from being inside the cage and realized she wasn't physically ready to jump into a fight right now.
The flame-colored she-cat just decided to enjoy her freedom and the comforting presence of her best friend.

Whiteclaw has practically been attached to Morningpaw's bent tail ever since they arrived back to camp, even hovering over Mudfur's shoulder until the old medicine cat finally got fed up and kicked him out of the medicine cat den, stating how Morningpaw had been a recurring patient and will continue to be one and that Morningpaw knew their routine by now and would be fine.
The flame-pelted she-cat apprentice had to sneak out the back of the medicine cat den so that she could go visit Crookedstar discreetly.
Finding him in his den, Morningpaw made her presence known with a simple greeting. The huge, light brown tabby leader greeted her in return and welcomed her inside.
"It's great to have you back, Morningpaw." Crookedstar meowed, sounding too the small she-cat apprentice to really mean it.
The moment between them was broken however by Morningpaw's next words. "I need to tell you about a cat I've met. She's called Mapleshade-"

Fun Facts
Yeah! Morningpaw is saved! But at what costs?
Mapleshade has made an appearance in front of Morningpaw! And now Morningpaw is aware that there is a crazy ghost cat out for revenge! Although she doesn't yet know why!
Whiteclaw is still getting interrupted just as he's about to put how he views their relationship into perspective! Will that ever be cleared up and will Morningpaw ever realize? Who knows!!
Crookedstar and Morningpaw are going to have one heck of a conversation coming up!
Still wanna do a Oakheart pov but it somehow keeps coming back to Crookedstar (maybe because the situation involves him more and our RiverClan leader does have a more important arc to this story!) Either way I will branch out to other character povs!!
What will happen next? I'll leave you all wondering for the time being!!
