Chapter 20
December pt2
Bella POV
"Bella breath baby...Deep breaths ok" I sucked in lungs full of air and let it out harshly, Masen is here and I can't let him see me like this. I need to keep it together. I need to for Masen. "I need to get out of here" I whispered to Edward, my hands clutching at his biceps, trying to keep myself grounded in someway.
"We will get you out Bella, you are safe. We are all here with you and we are just gonna walk out of here and not pay him a bit of attention" I nodded, wanting to believe it will be that easy. He will see me and recognize who I am, I know he's been thinking about me lately. He messaged me on Facebook a few months back, could this have been what it's about. He moved to Washington and wanted to see if I moved back home? Was he trying to find me or worse, was he trying to find Masen.
"We can't let him see Masen!" Edward nodded and pulled me close to him in the safety of his warm arms. "I won't, just stay close and we will leave ok" Keeping myself clutched to Edward, we started walking to leave.
Emmett and Rosalie walked a few paces ahead of us with Masen tucked between them, who was currently eating a sucker without a care in the world, to busy trying to lick the sticky mess off his fingers. "Almost there, baby" James still looked the same. He had cut his long hair short and had grown a few inches taller, but those Ice blue eyes still looked the same way they did four years ago.
Emmett and Rosalie made it out, but the woman with James was watching them leave and it made James look too. I know he couldn't see Masen, but if he kept looking in that direction then he was definitely going to spot me. Shit, what to do.
Edward hung back for awhile and moved our body's as we were just another couple admiring the waterfall and the beauty around it. But under the protection of Edwards arms I was shaking like a leaf and completely terrified, now that Masen was safe and away from James I was feeling all my emotions and I don't think I liked it.
"Keep your face tucked in my side and I will make sure my body is blocking most of their view" I did as Edward said, and kept my face pushed closely against Edwards rib cage. I could hear his pounding heart beat and I tried to focus on that and not what was going on around me.
I don't know how he did it, but my Edward got me to the Volvo safely and without either of us being seen. Once I was in the car I checked Masen over, even though I knew he was alright, I just needed to see for myself and show my brain that he was fine and was safe with Rose and Emmett the whole time.
"You Otay mama?" Masen asked so softly, he was scared and now after seeing me he was even more scared than before. "Oh course I am baby boy. I just saw something that scared mama, but Eddie got us out safe and now we get to go home and have some hot coco!" I tried to give him my best smile and gave him an awkward hug, as his car seat was blocking a lot of his body.
I have so many questions. For starters how did he find out I'm from forks? Me and James were not friends and I don't think I would have mentioned growing up in Washington that night at the party, but maybe I did. He could have gotten my old high school file and found Charlie's information. He also would have had access to Renee's information as well. Does he remember what he did that night? Is that why he's been trying to find and contact me. He couldn't have known that I was going to be on vacation here. I blocked him on everything after he sent me that first message.
All of these questions, I will probably never have answered and I pray to God that I will never be close enough to him to actually be able to ask them.
The ride home was quite and tense. Masen ended up falling asleep right after we left the park and slept the whole way back to the lake house.
Rose was talking to me about her business, but I wasn't able to really listen or talk back and eventually she stopped talking and just gave me space. Edward continued to steal glances from the rear view mirror, trying to figure out what's going through my head and if I was going to be alright. He didn't want to over step but I know he was dying to ask the same question I had.
Emmett carried a sleepy Masen upstairs and Him and Rose got him taken care of so I could deal with myself.
I went upstairs and stripped all my clothes off and leaving them on the ground as I went. I felt dirty and I'm not sure why I felt this way. I guess just seeing his face and bringing back memories that I really don't want to remember or relive.
Turning the shower on as hot as it would go, I set a towel on the counter and stepped into the steaming shower. I hissed as my skin made contact with the hot water, but soon got adjusted. Finally being alone, I let the tears fall and scrubbed every inch of my body till it was red and raw.
My sobs grew till I could no long stand and fell to my knees on the marble tile. Why did this happen to me. Why did James pick me that night. Victoria was all over him that night, and clearly would have done anything to have been in my position at that moment. I would have gladly let her volunteer. But then I wouldn't have Masen. I probably would have never met Alice or Edward. Who knows what my life might have looked like right now. I would have been happier there?
I just wanted a nice Christmas. If I had even the smallest thought that James would be at lake crescent I would have never agreed to coming here. I would have asked Charlie and Sue to drive down to port Angeles and spend the day there with us in the safety of my home.
The shower door slid open, pulling me out of my thoughts and bringing me back to reality. "Can I join you?" I smiled at Edward and nodded opening my arms for him. He wrapped me in his embrace, kissing the top of my head and running his fingers through my wet hair. "I love you Edward" I felt his smile as he places another kiss to my head. "Mmm ditto"
He pulled back some and carefully traced the harsh red scratches on my shoulders. "Baby" he whispered and place butterfly like kisses on the marks. I started crying again, but this time it wasn't because I was scared or worried. It was because I was so in love with this incredible gentle and loving man. Who just always seems to know what I need and when I need it.
I didn't want to think about James for the rest of my trip. In only six days we will have to go back home and back to our day to day life. Then I could worry about James I wanted to speak with my therapist about this as well. I need to work n though this, because I highly doubt this will be the last time I ever come face to face with him again. I need to be more prepared for next time.
When Edward and I finally came back downstairs, Charlie and Sue were in the kitchen talking with Jacob and Leah. Sue's back was to me, but I could see Julia's little foot sticking out from Sue's side.
My dad met my eyes and I knew then that Emmett told him what happened. He jerked his head slightly, wanting me to come over to him. I kissed Edward's cheek and walked over to my dad and letting him wrap me up in the peace only a dad could bring.
"It will be alright baby girl, we are all here for you and for Masen" Charlie said, placing a kiss on the top of my head. Pulling my face away from Charlie's chest, I looked up at everyone and smiled. "Hello, sorry I've been MIA, has anyone shown you to your room?" I said, feeling completely embarrassed at what a bad host I am.
"It's no problem Bella! And yeah mom showed us where we were gonna stay. This place is ginormous! I'm gonna need a map at this point." Leah said, breaking the tension and making everyone laugh. "Yes Esme is quite extravagant with her homes" I gave my dad one last squeeze, before I left him to go back to Edward.
"Lee, Jacob this is Alice's big brother Edward, and he's also my boyfriend" I leaned my head against Edward chest, his arms were wrapped around my waist keeping me tight against him. "I was noticed him popping up in your Facebook post, and that hair is quite recognizable" Edward chuckled and shrugged.
"What can I say. Bella loves her pictures and I can't get out of not being in them" I scoffed and rolled my eyes. I was not that bad. "Ha ha. You know that you love those photos just as much as I do." Edward has posted a few of the pictures I have taken of me and him on his Facebook and even made his profile picture a photo of him Masen and I, at Alice's wedding in October. It was such a beautiful photo. Masen was tucked between us with a huge grin, one arm wrapped around my neck and one arm around Edward's. He had pulled us closer so we were all smushed together. All of us were laughing and the photographer just captured the perfect moment.
"You are not wrong, love. I do really love some of the photos we've taken together" I looked up and smiled at him. He was just the sweetest man on earth. Leaning down he pressed his lips to mine and kept them there for awhile until someone cleared their throat and we remembered that we were not alone. "Sorry" I whispered, my face flaming red. It's so easy to get carried away with Edward.
"So where is everyone else" I asked. Jacob spoke for the first time that evening, explaining where everyone was. "Emmett and Seth went out to get some Pizza for dinner. Emmett said he didn't want you having to cook" Jake gave me a sad look before he continued. "Rosalie said she was going to go take a bath and lay down for a little bit, before dinner. And Maser is still passed out in his bed" I laughed. I could see my son now. The covers kicked off him and his little bum in the air.
"I'm gonna need to wake him soon, or else he's gonna sleep through dinner and be up all night long" Edward nodded, he knows how Masen can be, and if he naps longer then hour and a half, he will wake up in such a crabby mood and will fuss for the rest of the night. Definitely not someone we want to happen.
"Why don't you stay down here and I'll go get him" Edward offered, letting his arms fall away from my hips. "Are you sure? He might be a crabby crab" Edward laughed, but nodded his head. "I'm very sure, besides I'm sure you are dying to get your hands on that baby" I nodded my head up and down. I couldn't wait to finally meet little Julia. Edward gently pushed me towards the island and slipped out of the kitchen.
"He's a keeper" Leah said, nodding her head towards where Edward had just left. "Yeah he's the best" Leah nodded, she took a sip of her water, her eyes squinting as she looked at me. Like she was trying to figure something out. "You love him" She said, her voice shocked. "I do. I love him very much and he loves me" I felt myself blushing again, but I didn't mind when it came to Edward. I wanted to talk about what an amazing man I have.
"Now enough of that, will you let Auntie Bella hold you? You are such a pretty girl" I held my hands out and wiggled my fingers. Julia Kate Black was 10 months old and had a head full of dark black hair. She had so much that Leah could put it in two little pigtails and still have enough hair to fall down and cover her ears. Her dark olive skin made her hazel eyes stand out.
Julia glanced at Sue and Leah, before she tentatively leaned over and let me hold her. Her baby soap filled my nose as I held her close. Her chubby fingers found my necklace and she played with it, smiling up at me. "What a cutie...You look so much like your mama. Yes you do" I cooed at my niece and slightly bounced my body. Julia was so small and dainty. When Masen was her age he was in 2T clothes and had these big chunky thighs that you just wanted to eat up. He kinda looked like the Pillsbury dough man, to be honest.
"Oh honey, let's not put that in our mouth, it's yucky" Gently I pulled the necklace from her mouth and pried it from her strong hold. Her pouty lips pouted even more as I took away her toy and her eyes scanned the room for Leah and fussing once she found her.
"Julia Kate, I'm not going to take you away from Bella, she's right you can't put her necklace in your mouth, that's disgusting" Julia looked to Jake hoping Daddy would save her, but he just shook his head and said. "Mommy is right Jules" Julia moved her hazel eyes back to me and picked the necklace up again, never taking her eyes off me.
"You can play with it Julia, just don't put it in your mouth" She grew bored of me after a few minutes and reached back for her Granny. Who gladly took her back. We all moved into the living room, so Julia could play with Masen's toys in there, and I opened up a bottle of wine and poured everyone a glasses. Well everyone except Jacob. He looked at me like I was handing him a glass of poison. I looked to Leah, trying to see if I did anything wrong, but she smiled and shook her head, almost like it's not my story.
Soon Edward returned with a sleepy Masen laying on his shoulder. He took a seat next to me and placed Masen in my lap. Masen snuggled into my chest and closed his eyes. I leaned my head on Edwards shoulder and ran my fingers through Masen's shaggy hair.
I knew that no matter what happened with James, as long as I had Edward and and Masen beside me, I could face it and come out better and stronger then before.
Christmas Eve
Edward POV
'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;
And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;
"Now, DASHER! now, DANCER! now, PRANCER and VIXEN!
On, COMET! on CUPID! on, DONNER and BLITZEN!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away, dash away, dash away all"
I whispered the last line smiling at Masen sleeping face. Bella was curled up beside him wearing a matching grin. In just a few hours he would be up and ready to open all the gifts Santa had left him. This was my first Christmas with him and Bella and I couldn't wait to see his face tomorrow when he saw that bike. He's gonna freak!
This past week has been amazing and probably the best Christmas I've had in years. Yes James had put a big downer on things, but Bella was determined that this was not doing to ruin our first Christmas together. She said that she will deal with it when we get home and she can speak with her therapist. I'm not gonna lie and say I'm not worried, I am. I've never seen Bella shut down like she did the other day. It was scary and I had no idea what to do. I just prayed that we would get out of there with no conflict. And thankfully we did.
I'm a lawyer and I'm around cops all day. A lot of my friends are cops that owe me a couple favors. I've been so tempted to call one of them and get a background check ran on Mr James. But I didn't want to overstep on Bella's boundaries on this. We will do this her way and go slow and careful. But if she said the word, I would have it done with a snap of my fingers.
Bella had her breakdown in the shower and after that it's like she just put up a wall and hasn't given it another thought. She has thrown herself into Christmas. She's been baking and watching Christmas movies. She wanted to go caroling, so everyone put on their big boy pants and we went around the neighborhood and sung cheery Christmas songs to Bella's hearts content.
After the caroling she found tree ornaments in the garage and said that we needed to go and pick out a tree and decorate it because we didn't have a place to put presents. It was three days before Christmas and we had to go to three different tree farms before we finally found a small 4 foot tree that that dead on one side. Bella fell in love with that damn tree and said all it needed was a little TLC.
All the ladies and Masen all spent two hours decorating the half dead tree and I must say, after they were all done the little tree looked quite festive and added a nice Christmas charm to the living room.
That night I woke up and found that Bella was not in bed with me anymore. The sheets on her side were cold, meaning she had been gone for awhile. I slipped on a shirt and made my way downstairs to find Bella laying on the ground under the tree looking up at the lights. She looked so beautiful under there. The soft glowing of the light illuminated her face just enough that I could see each beautiful detail of her face. She was deep in thought, but had a small smile on her face. Seeing that she didn't seem upset I left her to be alone, thinking that she might need a few moments just to herself.
Something changed in Bella that night. It's like she had a realization about something and she just had hope again. It was refreshing to see.
Trying to pull myself from my thoughts, I closed the book that was still open on my lap and watched my loves sleeping peacefully, all wrapped around each other like a cocoon. My whole world all together in one bed.
Christmasmorning
We we're jerked awake by a small three year old as he jumped on the bed yelling at me and his mother to wake up, because Santa had come. "I don't think Santa came here last night, I didn't hear anything. Do you hear anything Mama?" Bella shook her head no, a smile playing on her beautiful lips.
"No Eddie I did not. Well not that I can remember anyway" she shrugged and looked at Masen; who sit there jaw dropped and his brown eyes as wild as his hair. "YES SANTA DID COME HERE!" Masen crossed his arms over his chest and pouted. I could see he was actually upset and I didn't want that. I was just playing around with him.
"You are right Maser, Santa will always come to bring you your presents. Why don't we go and see if your cousin is awake, so we can get this party started?" I asked Masen. He stood straight up and jumped off our bed and running out the door, only stumbling a few times.
I turned to Bella with a smile and placed a sweet kiss on her lips and whispered. "Merry Christmas, princess." She matched my smile and wrapped her arms around my neck. "Merry Christmas Edward. I love you so" bring my lips back to hers and traced my tongue over her closed mouth, begging to let me in and to taste the sweet ambrosia.
Tentatively she opened her mouth and let me inside. I made love to her mouth like I would with other parts of my body, making her moan slightly. With two more pecks I pulled away, before we got carried away and have someone walk in on us, as Masen had left our door wide open. Bella sighed, her hands cupping my face. "As much as I would love to stay right here in your arms, we better get up before Masen decides to go downstairs alone and open everyone's gifts" She said, pulling away from me and getting out of our bed.
I followed her move and got up, slipping my robe over my shoulder and holding open Bella's for her. "Thanks honey" I kissed her once more before we made our way out of the room hand and hand looking for a hyper three year old.
We found, Masen was standing in front of Leah and Jacob's room as he waited for Leah to come out with Julia. He was bouncing on his feet in front of a frazzled looking Jacob and I couldn't help but laugh. This was gonna be Julia come next year, so he better get ready.
Seth came out of his room looking half dead with his black hair all in his face. He muttered one word. "Coffee" and walked downstairs. I chuckled at the teenager, remembering how shitty it was to be woke up early on Christmas morning. Alice never stop waking everyone up early on Christmas and it sucked ass. She is always so damn hyper.
Leah came out wrapped in a fluffy robe, cradling a very sleepy little girl. Julia is a very sweet baby and I have even gotten to hold her a few times. Manly just when I'm playing on the floor with Masen, she will come and sit down in my lap so she could play too.
She was very quiet when they first got here. Julia would watch others around her till she felt like she could trust everyone here and finally left the safety of her fathers arms. She took to Bella right away, but why wouldn't she. Bella is amazing. Her favorite person is definitely Jacob and Leah, of course, but she was attached to Sue's hip and was very interested in Charlie's mustache. And her favorite past time was pulling out Seth's long hair, and doing the same with Rosalie.
She wasn't a fan of Emmett though. I said it was because he's the size of a damn bear, but Leah said that she has uncles the size of Emmett and she has then wrapped around her finger. She told Emmett that it was probably his booming voice that probably scared her.
A moment later the door to Rose and Emmett's room swung open and Emmett jumped out yelling HO,HO,HO while grabbing his stomach. Masen ate it up and giggles, jumping around with his uncle and acting a fool. Julia didn't like it and tucked out her bottom lip, reaching her chubby hands out to Jake.
"Well since my dear brother, just effectively woke the entire neighborhood, why don't we go downstairs and see if Dad and Sue are up, which I can't see how they aren't up now" Bella gave Emmett a pointed look, making him duck his head and muttering an apology.
Downstairs Charlie was already sitting in the recliner in the living room with a cup of coffee watching Charlie Brown Christmas. From what I could smell Sue was whipping up a yum breakfast in the kitchen. "Merry Christmas, Papa!" Masen yelled jumping into his grandfathers lap. "Ofph...hey kiddo. Merry Christmas to you too. And to anyone else, who I guess is standing behind me right now" Charlie said with a laugh. "Merry Christmas Charlie" We all said in unison.
"Well, Sue has a made a big buffet, so go dig in, she made a bit of everything" Emmett didn't waste a second and was off the couch and in the kitchen yelling. "Whatcha make, Momma?" Charlie sighed and muttered, where did I go wrong with him.
Sue made a hearty breakfast of just about every breakfast food known to existence and everyone ate way to much. Even Masen's belly was poking out as he rubbed it complaining of a stomach ache. "Is your tummy too upset to open your presents?" Bella asked Masen, running her fingers through his hair.
"No I can do it" he said determined, pulling himself out of the chair. Seeing as the full and tired three year old pulled himself up and out of his chair, the rest of the adults made themselves too. Bella's family was full of really good cooks and Bella was the best of them all. I was definitely going to die, a fat, but happy old man.
Charlie was still sitting in the recliner. Only now his coffee cup sit empty on the table beside him. "It's time for gifts papa!" Masen took his spot back on Charlie's lap and cuddled into his side. Sue stood in front of them and had both of them smile up at her camera. "Say cheese boys!"
Bella pulled me over to the armchair next to the tree and had me sit down. She went to sit on the ground by my feet, but I wasn't having that and pulled her into my lap, keeping an arm around her waist. "That's to far away" I whispered in her ear, I could help but to leave one small bite. She had such cute ears. I never would have thought, I would think a women's ears were 'cute' but Bella had very cute ears.
"I wasn't sure how you would feel about this, with my dad in the room" She whispered back to me, that beautiful blush spread across her cheek and down her chest. I was lucky enough to know that, that blush it went all the way down her body. "I don't mind, we're all adults here" I smirked, knowing well enough that her father was no virgin in the bedroom.
Bella slung her arm around my neck and snuggled close. Everyone had made their way into the living room. Leah and Jacob took up part of the large sofa, while Emmett and Rose sit on the other side.
Seth ended up sitting down on the floor by Leah and was holding Julia, who would climb up Seth, and make her way back up to Leah and crawl over to Jacob and then just start the process over again.
Sue took the open recliner by Charlie and reached for his free hand. Apparently the Swans pick a Santa each year that hands out the presents to each person, till the tree was empty and then they would go youngest to oldest and open your gifts. That way everyone could have their time to enjoy watching each other open the gifts they got. I liked it. In our family we just ripped everything open quickly and then would go have a small breakfast to hold us over till lunch. Which is fine too, I think I just like having more time paying attention to just one person at a time.
Masen asked to play Santa this year and was excited to hand everyone their gifts. Since me and Bella were sitting right next to the small tree, we helped Masen in passing out the mountain of presents, which was stacked almost as tall as the tree. I've never attended a Christmas with little kids and it's really fun. Julia got so excited about each and every present she opened. Even the clothes she liked and she got lots of those. Even Bella only got her one toy and tonnes of clothes.
Sue and Charlie got her a tiny pink piano, that looked like a mini baby grand. It was adorable. They also got her a few other toys that were bright and loud and another large stack of clothes. I hoped Masen wouldn't a bunch of clothing, because he's going to be disappointed and he doesn't need more clothes.
"How will she ever wear all these outfits? I hope they didn't get Masen more clothes" I whispered in Bella's ear. She patted my leg and turned her head her lips against my ear. "Leah and Jacob, they don't have a lot of money and they won't take money from any of us. So we just try to spoil them on holidays and birthdays, to help them just a little bit. These outfits will last Julia till summer and maybe even fall. and probably longer and plus she will get her more outfits for her birthday."
I didn't respond, just placed a kiss on her cheek and went back to watching Julia finish up the last of her gifts. I felt bad for bringing it up. I'm so thankful that Masen is getting gifts, I was just thinking of our garage and how full it already is. Me and Bella are both blessed to have good jobs and are able to give Masen a lot of things. He had a closet full of clothing, so much that some of his Summer clothes are in a tub in the garage waiting for him to be big enough to fit in them. Masen also had a lot of people in his life. Just two different lives, I guess.
Julia finish the last of her gifts. Ending with a little people's Barbie dream house, that actually came from good old Uncle Seth. Julia squealed with delight and smacked her hands on the box. Clearly happy with her gift. "Well that's a win for Seth!" Seth said proudly. He even offered to help her put it together while Masen takes his turn.
Masen got all of his gifts and came to sit down in front of me and Bella, asking his mama to sit with him. I gave her hip a squeeze and let her go sit with her son. She gave me the quickest kiss and slid down to the floor. "Now you have to open them Masey, but I'll sit with you while you do so" Masen agreed and asked which one he should start with. Bella mentioned that he should start with Auntie Rose and Uncle Emmys gifts. They had wrapped all his gifts in a Batman Christmas paper, it had Batman's signature bat with a Christmas hat on it. It was perfect for Masen.
Masen started with Rose and Emmett and then went to Charlie and Sue's gifts. He got a signed football jersey from Emmett along with a new football. Rose got him a few remote control monster trucks and a few T-shirts of his favorite things. Charlie got his a dark green fishing pole and his own tackle box with all kinds of things for fishing. Inside the tackle box was a picture of the lake in Seattle that Charlie was going to take him to during the summer and was going to spend a night in a cool hotel. Masen loved it so much, he jumped up and run to Charlie, throwing his arms around him and giving him a big bear hug.
"Thank you papa! I love it we is gonna catch the biggest fishes out there!" Charlie laughed and told him that there was a big chance that he could catch a eight pound fish. Masen was thrilled to say the least. Masen finished opening the last few gifts he had left from Sue and moved on to mine and Bella's gifts.
Bella, had gotten him a pair of running shoes that he saw and wanted in the shops. She also got him one of those amazon kid tablets and had already programmed tonnes of games and parents locks and time limits, all kinds of stuff, I never would have thought of. She said that Sybil mentioned that he was growing bored in the afternoon about an hour before Bella or I picked him up. We figured it would be alright for him to use the screen for just an hour at Miss Sybil's house and a every once in awhile at our house.
Masen was very excited to have a table and promised he would be a big boy with it and would keep it safe.
I had gotten Masen a few little things, but my big present was waiting on the front porch. Bella told me over and over that she was fine with me buying him this and that she thinks it would mean more coming from me then from her.
Because I knew he would want to ride his bike as soon as he opened it, we decided to let even one else finish opening their gift, before we let Masen see his bike. One by one, all the adults opened their gifts.
Sue took advantage of Charlie and Masen's fishing trip and sort of played off that and bought me and Bella and night at a nice hotel in Seattle and a gift card for dinner for two a fancy Brazilian stake house. That way Bella and I can have a littles get away just us and also be close by just in case. It was very kind of her and very appreciated.
Once everyone had opened their gifts, Seth and Masen were picking up all the wrapping paper and throwing it into a trash bag. While Leah took Julia upstairs to have a nap and a feed. I asked Masen to stop cleaning up for a second and to come over here by me and mom. "Okay, Masen. You have opened all your gifts from the family and from Santa, but you have one more" his eyes lit up as he bounced on his feet.
"Really! Where" he looked around the room, and leaned down to check and make sure he got everything out form under the tree. "It's outside on the front porch. Let's go get our coats and shoes and check it out" Bella grabbed Masen's hands before he could take off running to the front door. We would like him to make it to the bike in one piece.
Bella helped Masen with his jacket and shoes, while I put mine on and then I helped Bella into her jacket and couched down to slip her converse on her feet. "Thanks" My Princess said with a smile. "No problem, my lady."
I had Bella cover Masen eyes and I opened the front door. Standing on the floor was a shiny dark green bike with a big red bow on the handle bars. "YOU GOTS ME A BIKE!!" He jumped around the bike, not sure how he felt about getting on it just yet. "It has a bell and everything's" he ran the bell and squealed at the loud noise it made.
"Thank you Mommy and Daddy! I love it" Masen threw his arms around my neck and squeezed me tight. Bella was smiling from ear to ear. Her eyes shined bright. I was definitely glad her family stayed inside. "You are so welcome Masen. I'm glad you like it" I released him after a kiss to the crown of his head. "You wanna ride it?" He nodded, running circles around the bike, trying to figure out how to get on it.
"Here let me help you" I say to him and put a hand under each of his arms and lift him up on the bicycle. The bike still had the training wheels on it, so all he needed to do, was figure out how to pedal. And he should get that down to a T, fairly easy. "Ok Masen, the handle bars are how you lead the bike where you want to go. So if you push handles towards Mama it's gonna go that way, but if you push it towards me then that's the way the bike will go"
Masen nodded and with all his strength he push backwards on the pedal and then gave up and blew out a harsh breath. "It's out of gas Eddie!" Masen whined and I could help but chuckled at his pouting face. "It doesn't need gas Masen. You are the gas essentially. You just pushed the wrong way, here let me show you" I moved his feet forward and slightly pushed the bike and his little feet took over and he had the bike moving for a good 30 seconds before he started pushing backwards again.
"Ugh! This is very hard, I don't know how" He sighed, clearly getting discouraged by the lack of movement from the bike. "It takes time to learn something buddy. We will keep practicing and I bet come the end of January, you'll be riding this bike everywhere!" I could tell that he was disappointed, but he still gave me a smile and suggested we try again.
We continued for another 15 minutes, before I felt two small hands on my waist and the heat of a body pressing against me. "I'm gonna go help Sue start dinner. You two have fun daddy" I smiled and turned around in her arms so I could kiss her. "That was so amazing. I don't know if he even realized he did it, but I'll always remember this day" Bella cupped my face in her hands, bringing me down for another kiss.
"Me too. And I think he means it more then we even realize. You are his whole world Edward" And to think, I didn't really want to help Alice move in that day. I had no idea that my whole world, my whole existence was actually going to be there. Bella and Masen Swan changed my life for the better.
Our wonderful time here at lake crescent had come to an end and we were all sad to say goodbye.
All the cars were packed, Christmas gifts were shoved into the trunk as we tried to fit everything in our cars. Leah and Jake had to ship their gifts back home because they possibly couldn't take everything back on an airplane. Rosalie and Emmett were riding back with Charlie and Sue, because that's where Emmett's jeep was and they would make their long drive back to Arizona. I'm certainly glad we only had about a two hour drive and hopefully with Mase's new tablet he will be more occupied this time around.
"You better call me when you land and let me know how Julia did on the flight" Sue told Leah as she hugged her once more. "I will mom, I promise. But Jake is waiting for me and I'm afraid that our taxi will leave without me and Jules" Leah bounced the sleepy baby on her hip. Little Julia was wore out after a week of playing with her older cousin.
"Granny loves you, Julia Kate. You don't grow to much in the next few months" Sue kissed the baby's head and gently pushed them towards the running vehicle. Giving them one last wave as she tucked herself into Charlie's side. Masen was quite as he watch Julia leave. He actually looked sad to see her go.
"Are you going to miss Julia, Masen?" I asked him. The house was all locked up and we all stood in the driveway saying our goodbyes, Masen didn't like seeing everyone so sad and had asked me to pick him up, which I gladly did. "Yeah, I gonna miss her" He sighed, watching the bright yellow taxi drive away. "I want Mama to have me a baby" Charlie got choked up at Masen's words and He started coughed shaking his head, as Sue patted his back.
"I don't think Mama is going to have a baby anytime soon, Maser. Sorry bud" Masen shrugged and said he will just have to wait till Mommy says it's time for a baby and untill then he will play with Auntie Al's baby. Bella rolled her eyes at Charlie's reaction and reached her hands out for Masen and I handed him over.
"I'm gonna have another baby at some point, Daddy." She shot me a wink as she walked over to Charlie and gave him a hug. "But not anytime soon right, babygirl?" He asked. One large hand covered Bella's back and the other one ruffled Masen's hair making it even more messy, then it already was. "Not that I'm planning on at least" Bella laughed and kissed Charlie's cheek before she moved to Sue and hugged her. Masen leaned forward and wrapped his little arms around her too.
"You guys be careful, and Edward drive safely. Text me when you get home, so I know you all are alright" Sue kissed each of their cheeks before she released them. "I will Mom. You guys be safe too" I shook Charlie's hand, who surprisingly pulled me in for a quick side hug. It was awkward, but kind. Sue of course gave me a hug and told me to be safe with her babies.
I walked back over to my little family and held open Bella's door for her, taking Masen off her hip, so I could put him in the car for her. "Thanks baby" I gave her a kiss and closed her door once she was fully seated and buckled. Walking around to the other side I opened the backseat door and sit Masen down in his seat. He immediately said he wanted to do the buckles himself, so I left him to that while I got the car started and my maps up, putting in Bella's address.
Sue had come back around and was helping Masen with his carseat strap and giving him a few more kisses. "I love you my Mase A-roo. Be good for Mommy and Eddie." Masen told her he would and gave Sue the best hug he could with being strapped down to a seat.
After one last goodbye kiss we were finally on the road. Bella got Masen his tablet and headphones, and soon he was completely engrossed in his games and the car was quiet. I turned on Coldplay and me and Bella just relaxed and enjoyed the peace and quiet, after having a long eight days.
This felt like a glimpse of what my future was going to look like. Thanksgiving with my family, Christmas with hers and all the holidays in between were just for our little family.
I saw a whole new side of family this week. Bella's family was so close and all they did was laugh together, it was laid back and relaxed. There was no schedule pr a set time for dinner. People could pick their seats at the dinner table, it wasn't already picked for you. Not that's there is anything bad about that. It's just a little up tight and I definitely liked the more laid back atmosphere.
All around it was just a good Christmas and I couldn't wait for next year. I knew we were going to have to figure out this James situation, but that could wait till tomorrow. For today I will focus on the goodness of this week and all the memories we made together.
That's it for this time ladies and gents. Till next time~Jade
