You have bad luck. Bad things always happen to you.

That's what Seiya said, and he certainly got a point.

First, her father Alman Kido disappeared with Tatsumi, leaving her behind and not telling her exactly where he went. Then, she was stalked and bullied by Cassius, who punched her in the nose. If that wasn't bad enough, her house was flooded; the wall and the floor still hadn't been repaired. Just after things got a little bit better, her stepmother Guraad died right in front of her. Okay, she died from drug overdose – but now it's revealed that she was running an illegal drug ring business. Because that business had started before her split from Alman Kido, the Kido mansion was now a crime scene.

And here she was, Saori Kido, sitting in front of a FBI officer and surrounded by lawyers.

How could that many bad things happen to her?

"Miss Kido, please sign this statement," Hypnos pushed the document towards her to sign.

Milo reviewed it and then nodded to Saori, who refused to look at him.

"Miss Kido, are you not willing to sign the statement?" Hypnos asked, at the end of his patience.

Saori said nothing, looking down at her feet with her arms folded.

"Miss Kido," Milo said to her. "The statement is fine. Sign it and you'll be good."

Saori remained silent and not moving an inch.

"Saori," Aiolus began. "Are you all right?"

"Am I all right?" Saori said bitterly and finally looked up. Rose to her feet, she turned to look at Aiolus. "How could I be all right if I'm stuck in this nightmare called it sucks to be an adult? It's not that it sucks to be an adult! It sucks to be me ! Name one person on this whole planet earth who had that many things happen to him or her like me. Name one! My Dad disappeared on me. I got bullied and assaulted by Cassius. My house got flooded. Yes, things can get fixed. Just as I thought everything is going to be fine, this Edward Elric appeared and next thing I know, I'm at the FBI. I have always been a good girl and law-abiding citizen. Fine, I'll sign the statement. But what's next? I got hit by a truck?"

"I want you to calm down," Aiolus said, but keeping his distance. "Bad things happen to people every minute, but not everybody cries about it. You are going to sign that statement and trust that Mr. Hypnos is going to do his job the right way."

"Seiya says I'm prone to back luck. For the first time ever, we have something to agree on."

"Look, no matter what happens we are all behind you. You are not facing this alone. You are a strong girl yourself, Saori. You listed a bunch of bad things that happened to you. And I agree, life hasn't been easy for you. But you know what? You remain standing. Nobody can take you down. Not the flood, not your stepmother, not Cassius. Now, I'm going to tell you exactly what I told Aiolia when I took him diving years ago."

"Oh no," Aiolia buried his face in his hand. He had heard Aiolus telling this story many, many times.

"Aiolia asked me what he should do if he ran into a shark. I told him sharks are not human predators. If you don't bother the shark, the shark will not touch you. But for whatever reason if it's targeting you, you give that shark a punch in the nose as hard as you can."

"And what happened next?"

"I stepped on a jellyfish," Aiolia said, finishing the story.

"Oh no, don't tell me…you didn't pee on him, did you?" Saori said to Aiolus.

"Well, he's my little brother and I did what I had to do," Aiolus shrugged. "But the point of the story is that life sucks, but you'll live."

Now Saori let out a sigh of relief. She launched towards Aiolus to hug him, nearly knocking him over.

"You are the greatest man Aiolus," Saori said, hugging him tightly. "I wish all the men in this world could be more like you."

Hypnos coughed uncomfortably.

"I wish you hadn't done that," Aiolus said.

"Oh," Saori remembered where she was. "Sorry, I didn't mean to embarrass you."

"That's not what I mean," Aiolus said. "I have the flu. This is why I'm sitting in the back to keep my distance."

"You look fine to me."

"I'm one of these rare individuals who don't have any symptoms."

"But you have no problem being around your colleagues."

"We are vaccinated," Shura said.

"Did you get your flu shot?" Aiolus asked her with concern.

Hypnos hid his face behind his documents, trying hard to hold down his laughs.

Saori never liked being pinched by the needle. When Alman Kido was around, he made sure Saori got her flu shot every year in September. However, since he was out of the town or disappeared – and so many other things had occurred – Saori lost the track of time and completely forgot.

Of course, she wouldn't tell Seiya about the hug she gave Aiolus. Yet, the moment she walked out of the FBI office building, she had muscle aches. The next morning, she woke up with a sore throat.

"Seiya, you need to get out of this room," she said to him. "I think I have the flu."

Seiya rose from the floor and felt her forehead. "You're fine."

"No, I'm not," Saori said. "My throat."

"You are just stressed out," Seiya said.

"Seiya, when I was questioned by the FBI, one of the lawyers got the flu and he was within a close distance to me."

"Is it Aiolus ?"

Saori only coughed.

"Get dressed, we're heading out to urgent care."

"I don't want you to get the flu from me."

"I got my flu shot."

"When?"

"When you were at the FBI. I had nothing to do and saw a clinic offering flu shots for free. So I went there and got my shot."

Saori got out of the bed and got dressed. She and Seiya walked downstairs and found Hypnos there drinking coffee. Hypnos and his team were doing their investigation work and had left Saori alone. He gave them a smile as Saori and Seiya went out.

It didn't take long before they returned.

Yes, Saori was sick with the flu, confirmed by testing.

She headed back to bed immediately. The next two days she was bedridden with fever, aching all over. Tylenols and cough drops helped some.

"I hate you, Seiya," she muttered.

"Why do you hate me? I'm not the one who gave you the flu."

"You said I have bad luck. After the FBI told me that I am innocent and not involved with my stepmother's crimes, this happened."

"Oh right, Aiolus gave you the flu but you still love him. I took care of you, but you hate me."

"Seiya, I'm dying right now and you just have to say things to make my condition worse. This fever is killing me. Tylenols are not helping."

"Then let me help you."

Seiya took his blankets and threw them on top of Saori.

"What are you doing?"

"Trust me, it's going to make your fever go away." He laid down next to her, making sure that her covers remained on top of her.

It was okay somewhat since she was having a chill. Soon, she drifted asleep but only to wake up hours later sweating all over. She kicked the blankets off.

"How are you feeling now?" Seiya asked, leaning over.

"What are you doing?"

Seiya pressed his lips against her forehead. "Your fever is gone. My sister used to do this when I was sick. Want something to eat?"

"No."

"I'll make you oatmeal."

The fever was gone for the moment, but it came back. For the next few days, Saori stayed in bed and ate only the oatmeal Seiya made. When she finally got better, she found herself alone in her room. A bowl of oatmeal was on her nightstand, but Seiya was nowhere to be seen.

Quickly she got out of the bed and was relieved to find Seiya sitting outside on the patio, wrapped in a blanket.

"There you are," Saori said. "What are you doing here?"

"I got the flu from you."

"I thought you got your flu shot."

"Vaccine is not a shield that protects you from flu. But it prepared my body to fight against it. My sister told me that."

"What is your sister like?"

"Strong, difficult," Seiya said. "After our parents passed away, all we had was each other. We had nothing but my sister always made things work."

"At least she doesn't run a drug ring business," Saori said, taking a seat. "They told me that my stepmother was doing that and they are investigating this house, looking for more evidence. I don't know if my dad is involved too. I did feel bad for my stepmother after I found out that Dad never loved her. But now…"

"You do have bad luck," Seiya chuckled.

"Well, Aiolus said–"

"Ahh!" Seiya held his head as if he's in great pain.

"Knock it off," Saori said. "No matter what happens I'm still standing."

"Do you still want me to be your bodyguard?"

"You don't have to if you don't want to," Saori paused and went on, "That FBI agent Hypnos didn't give me a hard time. He is doing his job and he will be out of my hair soon. He said that I'm not involved in Guraad's drug ring business. I think it's time for me to be on my own. I don't know the story of you and your sister, but I can tell, you still care a lot about her. Maybe it's time that you work things out with her. Is that what you want?"

Slowly, Seiya nodded. "Yeah."

Saori gave him a smile, a bit forced.

That night Saori couldn't sleep.

It would be the last night Seiya spent in her room. As much as she hated to admit, she got quite used to him.

They bickered and fought, but they had good times too.

In fact, as much as she hated to admit, she actually preferred the time she spent with Seiya than with Aiolus.

Honestly, Aiolus was like a big brother she relied on and looked up to.

But Seiya…

Saori tossed and turned and didn't fall asleep until almost midnight. As for Seiya, he stayed up all night – thinking about the exact same thing.
