Cynthia wanted nothing more than to grill these guys for answers, but she knew better. The way these men handled tonight told her alot about them.

First, these were not regular boys. They knew what they were doing, almost like they had been trained. They were dangerous. They could be either part of a rival gang of some kind, or some sort of task force to manage them. Neither option involved her, and would probably just mean more trouble.

The second reason was simpler. They wouldn't answer even if she asked. She'd already tried asking and all she got was a warning of sorts. It would be a waste of time. 'No use beating a dead horse' as the saying goes.

The best solution would be to just let them go and pretend it was a dream. Yeah, a lovely dream that she could use as some inspiration. The idea of writing something up based on these handsome men made Cynthia very happy! She wasn't one to waste such an experience.

And Lastly, she didn't want them to find out about her. That was the last thing she needed.

A faint memory from her youth came to mind.

'The secrets people keep are a mercy, to either others or themselves.' The distant voice of her Uncle explained. 'Don't mat'r if they mean it that way or not, it's just the facts. Best you don't pry, if you know what's good for ya.'

As always her gruff uncle's advice helped steer her, grounding her trust herself. The young woman would have to see what she could learn about the new energy she sensed on her own.

Her family had imprinted the importance of a secret onto her years ago. Talking about her abilities was not wise, it would only complicate things. It was best not to lean too much on others for these kinds of things. It only put everyone involved at risk, and Cynthia was not keen to do that. Her thoughts coming to a close she moved on.

Cynthia raised her eyebrow before responding to Sirius' question, having yet to answer.

"Were you expecting me to lock you up or something?" Cynthia innocently sidestepped the question with one of her own. Neither group would get the answers they truly wanted, not tonight at least.

Sirius' face quickly morphed into one she couldn't quite place. He didn't actually think that was what she would be doing, did he?

The odd expression looked good on him regardless. Cynthia doubted he ever didn't look good. He was still kinda sweaty looking at the moment and that only seemed to add something more to him. James was smirking outright, clearly amused at his friends' expense.

"I mean, you did drag two very handsome men to your home without hesitation." Sirius' pointed out the current situation causing Cynthia's cheeks to burn just a little.

"Men?" she questioned looking around the room with false concern. Sirius folded his arms glaring at her playfully. He didn't even entertain the idea that He and James looked young enough to excuse her behavior for a moment.

James enjoyed watching the back-and-forth banter of these two. It had been a long while since Sirius had been so talkative towards a girl, shame she was just a muggle.

"Okay fine," the young woman sighed, turning to lead them down the hall. "Like I said before, it was the right thing to do." She shrugged as they followed her deeper into the flat.

Pushing the door to her bedroom open, she got the light. The girl was ever grateful she'd just cleaned up a few days ago. She'd been embarrassed enough earlier and didn't want to add to the feeling regardless of if she'd be seeing these strangers again.

"And yet here you are," Sirius continued, "Leading me to the bedroom." He quickly stepped closer to Cynthia trying to get her to face him. "Most girls would at least get me a drink first."

"Sounds like your past endeavors needed the help to get anywhere with you." Cynthia threw the response over her shoulder, hearing both men chuckle at her come-back.

Cynthia kept her back turned knowing that if she looked at either of these men her nonchalant mask could crumble. She never was good at holding her expressions when facing someone. The girl could be fuming with rage, and if someone looked at her right she would burst into giggles. Heaven knows that had caused a good few misunderstandings in the past. Sirius took the young woman's response in stride. She was fun to banter with, but he had work to do.

If she wouldn't tell what they needed to know, he'd just find out himself.

He began quickly taking in the details of the room the moment they stepped in. It was the little things that told him the most about this mysterious girl. The room was small, but well organized. It felt open and well lived in. He noted the several houseplants dotted around the room, each in varying states of dying. The one sitting on her desk was even crispy and gray.

He leaned down and pulled a book from her shelf. The title was covered in a homemade fabric book cover. Perhaps this book was special? It's the only one of its kind. Looking down he noticed a good number of books on a wide array of muggle subjects. She was obviously well read, Sirius concluded, remembering the other book shelf in the previous room and the books on her coffee table.

She'd probably get along well with Remus, not that they would ever meet. With that, Sirius returned it to the self, just slightly crooked as he would to place it to annoy Moony.

James just watched silently. He completely ignored the room and only watched Cynthia's reactions. The young Auror had seen these kinds of interactions enough with his friend to know what was happening. He still wished he hadn't dropped his glasses when he fell earlier, but he could make out enough of her body language to know she was a little flustered by Sirius.

If anything she was still a bit wary of them both. Not that he had any room to judge.

It was no surprise she was flustered, his friend got a high from riling people up, so he was an expert. If anything more it meant more credit to the girl for keeping her wits. She was quick to keep up with his friend, further proving she had an incredible ability to take situations as they come and react accordingly. James couldn't help but wonder if she naturally did that, or if she learned it from somewhere.

James's thoughts continued as he re-evaluated what had happened tonight. She certainly didn't seem as dangerous anymore. Hearing her get berated by her elders allowed them to gauge her genuine response to other people. She obviously wasn't under an enchantment, but he still couldn't shake the feeling something was up with her.

But where he really couldn't answer her questions it would be hypocritical to expect any from her. It's not like her response would mean anything. She had just been lucky, or should he say 'unlucky, to be at the park when the Death Eater's had showed up.

Shoving his feelings aside he mulled over his options. She was a muggle. If they obliviated her, he would never get any answers. Not that he planned to be back here looking for them any time soon, but you never know. James felt hesitant to remove the young woman's memories of tonight for another reason.

Her Safety.

Cynthia hadn't seen much at all, but accepted the complete lack of answers given to her. It was odd, but he was grateful she didn't pry. He wasn't used to that sort of thing from his Gryffindor friends. They always got their answer, one way or another.

James was also quite sure she'd saved them and was not working for the Death Eaters. One of them had fired a spell right at her, and it would have taken her out if not for his interference. If he left her as she was, then she might be better prepared should something happen in the future.

James ran a hand through his messy hair and looked to his partner, seeing him in deep thought.

Sirius met his friend's eyes, knowing each other for so long had many perks. They caught each other's train of thought. To obliviate or to not obliviate... that was the question. The two men nodded once towards each other. The decision was made.

She was safe… for now. They could always come back later and 'Clean Up' if they needed to.

Cynthia, just reaching the window, slid the thing open easily enough. Turning back to the boys she took them in one last time before they dashed off into the night. The chances of meeting them again were ridiculously low. So she drank in their appearance, memorizing it. You don't waste something this good.

They both looked back at her with easy expressions gracing their faces. Cynthia noted James was still holding his arm. A small guilty frown tugged at her.

"Thanks for moving me out of the way earlier." Cynthia gestured towards his injury. "I didn't feel like catching a firecracker in the face tonight."

"Thanks for getting us off the street. And this is honestly nothing, so don't worry about it."

Cynthia's frown deepened. If this was nothing, then he was used to getting worse. Her heart ached at the thought. Sirius slapped his friend's shoulder, the uninjured one.

"Don't you worry about him." He chuckled. "He's already got a little lady to worry about his injuries. No doubt she's going to have a field day with this." Sirius just shook his head motioning to James' whole self.

James glared at his friend, having no intention of letting Lily know about the injury. He'd be long healed by the time he saw her tomorrow. She'd be none the wiser.

Sirius stepped up, taking Cynthia's hand and pressing a kiss to it. Cynthia stiffened at the action.

"Thank you again, Love." He said, looking satisfied with the reaction he got. "Try not to get into trouble, yea?"

He stepped away, not waiting for a response. The Italian angel easily slipped out the window and landed on solid ground.

James stepped forward sitting on the window with half himself inside and the other half outside. Sirius scanned the area while James plopped himself down beside him easily. Apparently they were not the least bit nervous by the height her window was from the ground.

Cynthia poked her head out the window after the two boys.

"Something tells me that warning is more for you guys than for me." She leant against the window seal looking down on them. The boys looked back at her, silent acknowledgment that she's probably right about that flashed across their faces.

"Cynthia..." James began carefully. The girl waited, wondering what he would say, considering how secretive they had been so far.

"If you ever see men like those..." He paused, his face darkened. "Run. Don't stay and fight. Just run."

Cynthia's brows knit together at his warning. She had no plans on seeking those masked strangers out, let alone fighting them. How would she even fight them, yell absolute gibberish curse words at them? Like that would do anything. She simply nodded once in understanding.

"Okay." Her response was simple, but what more was she supposed to say? She sat on the window ledge. The boys didn't waste time, they already began moving away into the shadows with practiced skill.

"Guys..." She called out suddenly, before they got too far away. They turned back to look at her. "If you ever need a place to stay, let me know."

She didn't know why she felt the need to say that. She'd just got these secretive men out of her flat only to invite them right back in. Maybe it was the fact that they were probably just a little younger than her and fighting a mysterious gang. Maybe some deep part of her just wanted to protect their smiles.

It didn't really matter now, did it. She had no idea what on earth were they living through right now? The only thing Cynthia was sure of was that these boys needed all the help they could get.

Sirius laughed a little, bringing her back from her musings. He smiled back at her like she'd said something cute.

"You really don't want to let me go, do you sugar?" The cheerful tone of his voice made Cynthia feel a bit better. He must be quite strong willed to smile like that..

"Thanks Cynthia." James gave the girl what she assumed was an appreciative smile. With that, the two young men dashed off into the shadows leaving Cynthia alone sitting in her window.

Silence settled once again leaving the girl with only her thoughts to keep her company. Her concerns began bubbling deep inside. The girl leant her head against the window frame and closed her eyes, collecting herself mentally.

It didn't require much effort to remember the dangerous man who had set the night's events in motion. The soul crushing energy that poured off him sent chills down her spine. Cynthia hoped she'd never be so close to someone like that again. His raw power had dulled her own senses in ways she didn't think possible. No doubt she'd been incredibly lucky tonight.

A nippy breeze brushed past, prompting the girl to open her eyes and still her thoughts. She looked up at the sky, finding no stars shining down on her through the cloud cover.

Cynthia took a deep breath. It was going to rain soon. She'd think more on this later after a good night's rest... and a long bath.

With that, the girl withdrew back into the safety of her room, locked her window, and drew the drapes closed. All while being completely unaware of the eyes still watching her do so.
