Dumbo isn't like its 1941 processor. Well, it has the same elements like the Baby Mine song, Dumbo flying, The Pink Elephants. Dumbo's mom getting taken away, but other then that, it tells a new story, witch is a relief.
Not that remakes are bad. They just need to tell a different story instead of the same thing we grew up with. Beauty and the Beast could've been better if it wasn't basically the same, Ja, I liked the new stuff that they added, but it needed more. If it went the same route as this new Dumbo, I think so many more people would like it more, along with Emma singing better. Future Disney remakes, take notes!
And I think from the trailers, the new Aladdin and The Lion King might be shot per shot, and heading the same Beauty and the Beast route, witch got us concerned. Hopefully, they turn out great, and we have nothing to fear. We just need to wait and see.
There are different stuff that they changed in this film. There are no talking elephants, no storks, no crows, Dumbo doesn't get drunk, and Timothy only appears briefly, and doesn't talk. The kids and their dad replaces him.
The thing that the fam agrees on is that the main girl in the film is like a robot. She doesn't really show any emotions. The boy is a little better, but he could be better. The adults were better actors. I'm sorry I'm hating on children, but I can't help it. They're supposed to be more animated then the adults, not the other way around. If they acted like kids, and not emotionless robots, they could've made this film a little better to watch.
At first when this film was announced with Tim Burton directing, we were a bit concerned. What will this guy do to the light- hearted innocent Dumbo that we all love? A guy who is known for his horror and dark films? But luckily, Tim did a decent job with this adaption. Dumbo was cute in the animated one, and he is still kind of cute in this one as well, and he still is innocent as a child.
So if you like Dumbo, and is concerned about this film, don't be. If you hate remakes because they're normally the same, like I wrote earlier, it's a different story with some of the same elements. It's longer, almost double the length of the 64 minutes original if that helps. And who knows? This Dumbo might sour in your heart just as its counterpart did.
