Getting rid of my cloak and mask, I put them inside the inventory as I step out of an alleyway, walking towards my home and glancing at the amount of money I have with a smile. With this, I can outright buy the building. No need to pay every month and just worry about space and how to mass-produce potions. It requires magic, and I'm one of the very few people that can make them. Even if I hire someone like a Maiden or Qrow or even Ozpin, I'd be the only one who can make high-quality potions for a long while.

I'm not in any rush of course, but I'd rather be done with it quickly.

I don't think I can make a potion-maker with my current skill-set, and I have no idea what skill-set it requires anyway. Is it Engineering? Magical Engineering? Artificer? I really don't know.

Game, can you give me any advice?

No.

Please?

I can help.

...Mysterious god?

No, stop it. You promised you won't help anymore.

It'll be fine. I'm only pointing at the direction.

That was not part of our deal.

Ugh, there you go being overdramatic again. Fine, it won't be without a cost this time. Listen, junior, I'll give you the info you need, but the next Gacha pull will be bad.

...Uh, bad how?

She means a pull that could potentially kill you. Nothing like that Kit-Kat you got-

Kit-Kat isn't bad though

Kit-Kat isn't bad though.

The point is, this information could cost you your life. You might summon Cthulhu himself out of it, or even a multiverse-level apocalypse.

That uh, that doesn't sound pretty.

Yeah, but it's low-key hilarious. One of the older Gamers summoned Darkseid on his first Gacha. Poor fucker didn't stand a chance.

Had to reduce the chances of that happening again because The Game is a whiny lil' bitch.

…This is the most I've seen you talk, you know. Why were you quiet the entire time?

Hello?

Please ignore her. She tends to forget that she wasn't supposed to open conversations with you.

...Why?

To this day, I still don't have a single idea of what goes through her mind.

Nonetheless, the deal is still on the table. Would you risk your life, and even the entire universe, for information?

...Shit, I don't know. Do I trust the Gacha Gods to not fuck me over this time too? Or do I find a way to mass-produce my potions by myself?

Refusing will guarantee my and this world's safety, but I'd have to come up with ways myself. I can probably think of something one day, or even once my INT hits a certain level, but I can't be so sure. It can be months before I even get the idea, and I'd like to climb the ladder as fast as I can. Getting political power will protect me from Ironwood, and I certainly don't want to fight all of Atlas because I prioritized safety.

Accepting will give me something to do after I'm done maxing out my Alchemy other than train and get stronger. Something that will help in the long run. Mass producing is not only good for me, but for the entire world as well. If a team consisting of five hunters is enough to dispatch of 100 Grimm at minimum, then imagine an entire army of buffed hunters? 50% stat increase? Undying soldiers, that can heal injuries and regenerate Aura by simply drinking?

I risked it for the race once, and I'll do it again. Give me the information, please.

Very well.

All you need is the Golemcrafting Mastery Skill.

Golems? I… don't get it. How would that help me? I thought golems are just soldiers or something, right?

Not necessarily. Golemcrafting is, quite frankly, one of the most useful skills you can have. The ones you're thinking of are combat-based golems. Production-based, housing-based, vehicle-based – Almost anything you could think of exists in Golem form.

...You're saying… I can make potion-golems? Auto production? Not actual workers, so I don't need to pay them?

Indeed.

That's… exactly what I need and then some! And wait, vehicles, as in golem ships, cars, and planes? You're saying I can make an entire fucking Armada out of golems?

How do I get it? I need this skill, if not for my potions, then for the sheer versatility of it.

By letting your Alchemy reach level 100, you'll be able to take Golemcrafting as your next Mastery skill.

...so just max out Alchemy? That's... a lot easier than I thought-

You've been cursed with [Wrath of Gacha]!

Wrath of Gacha - No time limit

You've angered the Gacha Gods! Be wary, your next token is guaranteed a bad one!

Welp, that's the payment. No time limit means it won't disappear until I use a token I'm guessing.

I really hope I don't die from this… But it's too late for regrets now I suppose.

So grind Alchemy then take the Golemcrafting skill, got it. I kinda wanted to test my light magic mastery, but it is for the better. I made an arrow spell, and the cost is actually insane for a beginner spell.

[Light Arrow] (LV 1/10)

Shoot an arrow of pure light that deals 500 light damage

Costs 350 MP

The damage is incredible, true, but 350 MP for a single arrow? Remember, I have the fire god blessing perk, and that halves the cost and doubles the damage for fire spells, but I don't have anything that improves light magic. I asked the game about how much extra damage it deals against Grimm, and it said currently, it's 2.5x. With every ten levels in the mastery, the multiplier increases by 0.2, so level 100 Light magic would deal 4.5x more against Grimm… and that's kinda OP.

This is why I need to level it up, but at the same time, I need to start my Golemcrafting. Not only that, but I have a limited supply of ingredients, and waiting for plants to grow takes a lot of fucking time, even with fertilizers.

I shake my head with a sigh. A lot of work is ahead of me it seems. No time to rest.

Maybe I can somehow use my magic to make them grow faster?

I let out a deep sigh. Maybe when I'm done, I can go around the world or something. This isn't earth, after all. It's a new world, with different cultures, different customs, etc etc.

As I turn my head to the left where my store is, I freeze as I see Ozpin, with his cane, staring at the place.

Well… and I thought he was passive…

Good for me.

(Ozpin)

He gazed at the store's name, "Astera's Potion Company". Not a flowery name, and one that gets straight to the point, like the Schnee Dust Company. He won't lie, he doesn't enjoy bland names like these, but he gets the appeal.

He came here in hopes of seeing the man for himself, but it seems that he isn't here. The inside is dark, the lights turned off, and the "Closed" sign in front of the door. Ozpin squinted his eyes, noticing faint glowing through the window. He assumed that those were the potions the man made, simply sitting near the front door. Anyone would be able to smash the windows and steal as many potions as they can… but they'd get swarmed by hunters.

The place for this store is quite strategic. East of the city, near the biggest Hunter's Board in Vale, where hunters of all kingdoms would take contracts and missions. The thing is, the Board is open 24/7, and with how hunters work, they're there most of the time. Midday, midnight, early morning, evening, it won't matter. Intelligent criminals would be able to steal with enough planning, but simple mooks and grunts? Petty thieves? Nigh-impossible.

"So…" Ozpin froze at the voice behind him. He turned around and saw a tall, handsome young man with a messy white-hair and deep blue eyes looking at him with a raised brow. "The headmaster of Beacon Academy, at my doorstep… Anything I can help you with?"

"It seems you already know who I am." Ozpin smiled. "But I have yet to have the pleasure of knowing you."

"Spare me the flowery speech, old man." He rolled his eyes, a smirk on his face. "It's Reid. Reid Astera. Come on, we can talk inside."

Ozpin nodded and followed the now named Reid, who opened the door with a key. The two proceeded to get inside, and as younger turned on the lights, Ozpin marveled at the colorful vials of magic on the shelves. Reid gestured for him to follow, and Ozpin did so, entering the backroom with him. Scanning the room, he only saw a simple living room with three black couches surrounding a white coffee table, a black carpet, a stationary scroll, and stairs leading up.

"Take a seat," Reid said. "I'm getting myself a drink. You want anything?"

"Water, please."

He nodded and opened a door left of the living room, to what Ozpin assumes is the kitchen. Ozpin looked around more and noticed a trapdoor at the far corner of the room.

"Hm…" He bought a hand to his chin. He didn't notice any tools or anything here. Maybe that leads to where the potions are made? The secret to their production?

The kitchen door opened, and in walked Reid, a glass of water and a can of beer in his hands. He put the glass on the table and sunk into the couch to Ozpin's left. He opened the can, and took a gulp, closing his eyes and letting out a sigh of satisfaction.

"Soo..." He suddenly said. "Any questions?"

Ozpin frowned. "...How do you know who Ozma is?"

"...The Relic of Knowledge." He said, making Ozpin freeze. "Though, not in the way you'd think. The relic is safe in its vault, don't worry."

"You won't elaborate any further than that, I'm assuming?" Ozpin asked.

"Nope." He shrugged. "Everyone has their own secrets, not just you. I'd rather keep them as such, for now at least. I might tell you one day, who knows."

"I see…" Ozpin nodded. No need to get impatient. He doesn't seem to be lying, so his trust is required to spill everything. "What about your magic?"

"Gifted."

"...By the brother gods?"

"Nah, not those fucking children." He spat. "Someone else. I'd rather keep their identity a secret for now."

"I understand." The older man nodded again, then frowned. "...If I may ask… why do you help me? You know my story, which means you know that Salem is-

"Can't be killed?" He finished for him. "Well, to answer your question, I just see you as a good man stuck in a very, very bad situation. I don't agree with your manipulative ways, and I do think you made stupid decisions, but I can see where you're coming from, I guess."

Ozpin stayed silent, opting to listen instead.

"I mean, you were kinda fucked over sideways by the illness, your own wife, and the gods. And I'm guessing you lived for thousands of years, trying to fight back against an inevitable end, right?" He glanced at Ozpin, taking a sip from his beer. "You probably tried hundreds of ways to kill Salem, or even end your own life, but you're stuck like this. Any man would break after the first hundred years, so props for you, living for thousands of years and somehow keeping humanity alive."

"...You don't think of me as a liar?" The headmaster questioned, and in turn, Reid laughed.

"Of course you're a fucking liar!" He shook his head, a grin on his face. "You're probably one of the best liars on the damned planet! You spent years 'honing your crafts', after all

"Not that I think lying is bad." He shrugged. "It's necessary, especially for you. Hunters won't fight if they knew that the Grimm Queen is immortal."

"Indeed. Salem is invulnerable." Ozpin sighed. "I… killed her, many, many times before, but she only revives every time. I even tried to use the Relic of Destruction… but to no avail."

"Shit like this is why people lose hope, Oz." Reid pointed at him. "Honestly, some people don't understand what 'Fighting for survival' means. They think winning is everything, so when they realize that they can't win, they just give up and run away. It's pathetic if you ask me."

This man… Ozpin saw Reid in a different light as he heard his words. He's a lot wiser than I first thought.

Fighting for survival… The older man thought. Was this what I was doing? I don't have a plan to defeat her… but is fighting to survive really that bad of a plan?

"Though, invulnerability or immortality isn't going to stop me from killing that pale bitch." The young mage smirked. "Now that I'm here, you really don't have to stress too much about it. I'll find a way to kill her, force her to stay dead eventually."

"You do not understand." Ozpin shook his head. "She cannot be killed. No matter what you try. I even tried to destroy her very soul with the Relic of Destruction, but the relic refused to do so, saying it's an order from the gods to leave her alive."

"Oh, of course, those assholes gotta make it hard for me." He clicked his tongue with a scowl. "We can keep going back and forth about this, but I won't try to convince you. I might let something about me slip after all."

Sharp. Ozpin smiled.

"I understand." Ozpin nodded, finishing his glass of water before putting it back on the table. "I believe we have a business to discuss?"

He smirked widely, showing sharp, glistening fangs. "You can't make them, or won't be able to make it at the quality I can. It's better to leave it all to me."

"But wouldn't it be better to let others help?" Ozpin suggested. "It would increase the production rate, and will take a load off your back."

"Certain ingredients." He suddenly said. "Grind them, then add your magic, and you can make different kinds of potions."

Ozpin was stunned. Why would he give such valuable information to him when they just met?

"Because you can't mass produce it." He answered the unasked question. "You only have like what, five magic users? Qrow, Amber, Summer Maiden, and you. Heh, it's four. Fria is too old to do anything, and Raven fucked off to Anima somewhere."

"Then what do you suggest?" Ozpin leaned forward, making a mental note that Reid didn't know about the Summer Maiden's disappearance. "You say to leave it to you, but you are one while we are four."

Reid leaned back, a confident smirk on his face. "Two things. First, I need someone I can hire. You have an entire school of teenagers, and I kinda need someone dealing with customers while I work on the mass production. Preferably a girl."

Ozpin chuckled. "Very well. I'll inform the students about this, that is simple enough. And the other?"

"How about a deadline? Before the Vytal Festival, I'll mass produce potions, and you will help me sell it to the rest of the world."

"Before the Vytal Festival…" Ozpin parroted. "A little over five months from now. An acceptable deadline, if a little short, and I believe you won't tell me how you're planning to do that?"

"Gotta wait till I got it working." He shrugged, then stood up, throwing his beer can in the garbage bin. "So, do we have a deal?

Ozpin took a second to process the information then stood up as well, looking at the younger mage with a smile. He decided that he would trust young Reid, for if the person knew everything about him, about Ozma, decided to trust him, as small as said trust is, how could he not reciprocate it?

Ozpin extended his arm. "We do."

Reid smirked and tightly gripped his hand. "Great. Now if you don't mind…" He let go of the hand, pointing at the trapdoor. "I have work to do."

"Of course." He nodded. "I'll leave you to your own devices. If you need help, be sure to contact me. Here, my scroll number."

As they exchanged, Ozpin bid him farewell, leaving the store with a relieving feeling. They managed to recruit the mage, or at least ally with him, which is what they wanted to do since his arrival a little over a week ago. He was surprisingly understanding, ignoring his vulgarity and his disrespect to a person of high standing, but Ozpin never let these things bother him.

Ozpin gazed at the broken moon, smiling slightly before walking back to the Academy. Everything went smoothly, much better than he thought.

They can finally turn their focus back to the missing Maiden in Vacuo.

40 Reputation with Ozpin

I guess giving him a chance meant a lot if the increase was this much. I knew taking the understanding approach and revealing some stuff about me was the best thing to do, especially since it got me Ozpin's protection and a new quest.

Time limit: 5 months, 1 week, 3 days...

No extra stat points in any of the rewards, but they're still pretty sweet. Palladium is from Terraria, and it's one of the first metals you get in Hardmode. It's pretty powerful, and I'm guessing Cobalt and Mythril are the Terraria variant as well. I can make armor or weapons from them, or I can invest in Golems with them.

Palladium, Cobalt, and Mythril Golems are gonna be strong as hell.

Unfortunately, I don't know what Unique Potions are, but I think they're the invisibility, gender-swap, etc etc. The ones not specified in a stat category, or usually are hard to come by in magical worlds and such.

Oh well, I'll figure it out eventually. I have five months to experiment.

It's grinding time…

(Blake) (Three days later...)

Laying on the bed, Blake read the news on her scroll, her eyes becoming as wide as saucers. Slavers? In the kingdom? And so close as well?!

It talked about a slave circle in Vale, discovered after the police were called by a mysterious caller, telling them to go to the abandoned warehouse west of the city, and they saw over 50 Faunus, clothed in tatters and blankets covering them waiting for them there.

They asked them for statements, and they talked about a masked man with a black cloak slaughtering all of the slavers and buyers with a giant wolf. True to their words, the place was littered with corpses ripped apart, bodies burnt to crisps, and even piles of ashes of what they assume other buyers.

Blake was slightly horrified, but then reminded herself that those weren't innocents, but those who oppress her race in the worst ways possible, even worse than how the SDC treats their "workers". She felt cold indifference towards them and their deserved fates.

The masked man though… that caught her attention. She knew it wasn't Adam, with the description being a "Dark blue metal mask that covered his entire face", and Adam wore a white one that only covered the upper part of his face, exposing his jaw. Besides, Adam wants everyone to know about what he did, or that the White Fang did it, but that man did his job and immediately disappeared.

She wrote "Masked Man frees Faunus" in the search bar, and got many results. She went through multiple sites discussing his identity, his morality whether killing slavers so horrifically was justified, and many other topics.

Some said it was a White Fang member going solo, but she dismissed this. A Faunus she can accept, and even hoping that he is, but he's definitely not a White Fang agent. She was with them not long ago, so she knows the important and powerful people of the organization.

Unless he was a new recruit with previous training and experience, then she won't believe it.

Others said he was a huntsman on a very secret mission, which is why he disappears as soon as he was done. Plausible, and she's willing to believe it, but why make this a secret? Wouldn't be better to expose this to the world? To let them know about the corruption running amok?

There were many, many theories talking about him, some making sense and others not. She couldn't believe how he exploded in popularity like this, or how many people actually supporting his actions. She knew Vale was one of the more… accepting kingdoms for Faunus, but the amount of support, even with the admittedly horrific things he did, shocked her. It made her feel all warm inside-

"That-!" Her team leader said, snatching her scroll. "Is enough!"

"Wha- Weiss!?" Blake exclaimed. "What are you doing?!"

"You've been on this device for too long now!" Weiss glared. "You need to finish your studies and homework! We have a quiz tomorrow!"

"Give me my scroll back!" The Faunus tried to take her scroll back, but Weiss dodged.

"No, not until you finish your-"

"That's none of your business!" Blake yelled. "My homework and studies are my own!"

"It is my business!" The heiress countered. "You failing means all of us are stuck for another year! When will you understand this?"

"We literally just started the year!" She argued. "We have over eight damned months, Weiss! Now give me my scroll back!"

"What were you doing anyway?" Weiss huffed, looking scrolling through the pages of the device, scoffing after a second. "That Vigilante? How disgraceful."

Blake froze. "What do you mean, 'Disgraceful'?"

"You've spent all this time fantasizing about some ne'er do well?" Weiss spat. "I'm thoroughly disappointed."

The Faunus gritted her teeth as she snatched her scroll back. "Like I give a shit what you think about me, princess."

The heiress gasped. "What was that?! I'm your teammate and leader-"

"Woah, woah, woah! Ladies!" Yang interjected, getting between them as she looked at them nervously. "Calm down and keep it cool please."

"I won't calm down until she apologizes!" The white-haired girl demanded.

"Weiss," The fourth member of their team, a girl with long, silky, cyan hair and emerald eyes wearing an olive yukata glanced at her. "You started this confrontation very rudely. You should apologize first."

"Wha- Levianna!" Weiss gasped. "You agree with her!?"

"I don't." She replied coolly. "But you took her personal property forcefully. She could've been reading important and personal things, and you shouldn't have taken it so suddenly."

"Yeah, I agree with Levi here, Weiss-cream." Yang nodded. "Ya probably shouldn't do these things. She might've been watching porn."

Levianna giggled as Weiss and Blake blushed, the latter denying it.

"I-I wasn't!"

"I said 'might've'" Yang grinned teasingly.

"Nonetheless, you must apologize." The cyan-haired girl said. "Please be considerate with others' personal items next time."

Weiss' face reddened in embarrassment. "I...I'm sorry, Blake. I shouldn't have taken your scroll from you."

Blake blinked at the sincerity in her voice, and she smiled slightly. "And I'm sorry for what I said."

"See?" Levianna smiled. "That wasn't so hard, no?"

Yang grinned. "Now kith~"

Blake blushed as Weiss rolled her eyes with a scoff. "How childish…"

With that, Weiss, went back to her bed, opening the Grimm Studies notes she wrote down.

"Woah, you actually kept up with Port?" Yang stated. "Impressive."

"It's Professor Port." Weiss glared. "Show respect to the professors, you buffoon."

"Yeah, yeah…"

With that, the others went about their business, with Yang reading comics, Levianna sketching, and Weiss studying. Blake was about to go back to what she did, reading about the Masked Man, but then stopped herself as she frowned.

Weiss was right. She was obsessed with him as soon as his name reached her ears, and she completely forgot about studying.

They had a Grimm quiz tomorrow… and she didn't write down anything. Port was… okay, he was too damned boring. She almost fell asleep multiple times.

"Um… Weiss?" Blake looked away from her leader's gaze. "Can I… borrow your notes?"

The Faunus glanced back, nervously chuckling as she saw the deadpanned look of the heiress.

Weiss sighed. "Just make sure to give it back once you're done."

Blake resisted a sigh of relief and took the notes from her hands.

She can look around for this Masked Man when she's done with tomorrow's quiz. Who knows, he might make another appearance one day.

Blake would like that…

(Salem)

She blinked as she heard the report from her subordinate, slightly narrowing them in annoyance. Someone managed to get hold of their plans and interfered when Cinder attacked the Fall Maiden. It's somewhat concerning, but not really that much. She could easily weed out any potential traitors with her magic.

What really annoyed her, however, is how Cinder took so long to report back. It's obvious that Cinder wanted to drag this long enough for her to get the Fall Maidens power before Salem noticing, but it seems Ozpin now knows who they are, so he's on high-alert.

"Cinder dear..." The Queen said. "Remind me again why should I give you another chance when you failed so pathetically?"

"I-I can make this up. All I need is some time, and I swear I'll get the Maiden and the rel-"

"No," Salem shut her down. "Once a failure, always a failure."

Cinder flinched, fear growing in her heart. The Grimm near Salem growled as they too felt the emotion, glaring holes into her subordinate.

"You are not allowed to go to Vale anymore." The Pale Witch said. "If you want to redeem yourself, then go to Mistral and get that Mafia group in an alliance. I do not care how you do it, as long as you have their support, then the hunt for the Spring Maiden will be easier."

"B-but isn't Tyrian the one look-"

"Tyrian will hunt down the one who interfered with your mission." Cinder was cut off by her leader's Authority. "You will cooperate with Lionheart in finding the Spring Maiden, then you will bring the relic to me. If you do not succeed in five months, you will be deemed as worthless... and I'll deal with you personally."

Cinder shivered, trying to not show her fears but failing horribly. Salem relished in the negative emotion as if she's feeding on it. She suppressed a dark smile and opted to give a cold look.

"You are dismissed."

Cinder nodded obediently and left the room, leaving the Black Queen alone. Just then, Salem sighed, telepathically ordering for a Seer to come. When it did, the Seer connects the one with her mad subordinate.

The Seer then revealed Tyrian's insane grin.

"Yes, my queen?" He bowed.

"Stop your search." She ordered him. "There is someone I want... gone, in Vale."

Tyrian cackled madly. "Of course! Who's the poor little target?"

"Someone with a blue mask and a black cloak." She answered vaguely, not knowing the person herself. "Stay outside the city and make sure no one with that description gets out or enters Vale. I'll send Hazel to assist you and Seers to monitor the forests in the kingdom."

"Your wishes are my commands, my lady." Once again, he bowed politely, then the Seer cuts off the connection.

A Grimm then arrives, holding a glass filled with red wine. Salem took the drink and closed her eyes in thought.

"These humans..." The Grimm said with high authority. "Always so pathetic. You should've gotten rid of her."

"Quiet, Parasite." She spat. "I did not ask for your input."

"I bring you a drink out of the goodness of my heart and this is how you treat me?" He sighed in mock-sadness. "What a cold woman you are, Witch."

Salem frowned and glanced to her right, spotting the tall humanoid Grimm. His skin was as white as snow, his long hair black as charcoal, and his eyes glowing blood-red. He had the features of a handsome man, but the dark smirk on his face and his menacing dark aura would make anyone run as far away as possible. He wore a simple, open black vest and black pants.

"Oh well, I only came here to check up on you." He chuckled. "I see Good Ol' Ozma one-upped you again? He's been getting a lot of wins lately..."

"If you do not have anything useful, you may as well leave." She warned. "Otherwise-"

He clicked his tongue. "Fine, I'll leave. Can't have anything entertaining here, can we... Oh, that reminds me!"

The Parasite grinned widely, almost to an insane degree. "I had a talk with 'Polis not long ago, and you know what he discovered? That Prickly Rose has a daughter!"

Salem stiffened. "Summer Rose... She had a daughter?"

"Apparently!" He chuckled. "I think he got the info from Prickly's memories. You know how he works, slow but effective. But you know what this means?"

He then looked at her with a wide grin that shouldn't even be humanely possible. His entire face was stretched, his glowing orbs for irises completely gone, replaced with the black void of his sockets. It slightly unnerved Salem, especially with the aura of complete darkness he exuded.

"I can finally have my revenge that was out of my grasp for years~" His voice was distorted, with reverbs strong enough to crack the wine glass in her hand.

"You'll look for her? In a city filled with elite hunters?" Salem narrowed her eyes, fixing the glass in her hand with magic.

He was strong- no, that was an understatement. He was the strongest of the Titans, and alone, he can annihilate an entire kingdom... but not without sacrifices. He can't continuously use magic because he cannot regenerate as fast as magicians and wizards. Definitely faster than other Titans since he doesn't need sleep, but it could take him 100 years without using a single spell to restore 20% of his vast mana capacity

"Look for her?" His horrifying expression disappeared, replaced with a thoughtful one. "Seems counterproductive. I know that she'll come looking for her mother one day, so I'll just hang around 'Polis till she comes. I can wait.

"Anyway, I'll go meet up with 'Polis now." He said. "Make sure Oz boyo doesn't beat you again, yeah?"

With that, he snapped his finger, then disappeared in an instant, using a teleportation spell to leave her alone.

...Oh well, it's a minor inconvenience. She has a literal eternity to crush all life on the planet, so what would a few years do?

At least her spy managed to get into Beacon...

She'll definitely be entertained with this new player... Unless he reveals himself to be another of Ozpin's pawns.

She hated them the most.

Omake: A God-Emperor's Blessing on This Wonderful World!

Eris, the Goddess of fortune and deity of the Eris Church, disguised as an adventurer, was sitting at the bar of the Adventurer's Guild in the beginner town of Axel. She had heard rumors of a new adventurer, who after getting scanned, produced an adventurer card that showed that his level was in the hundreds, along with having so many skills that the words had to be compressed into pinpricks to fit them all onto the card.

It had rarely happened in the past, but scanners sometimes misinterpret an adventurer when they go to get scanned again after losing their adventurer card. However, upon being questioned about it, the adventurer had the gall to say that this was his first time getting an adventurer card, what a joke! It was impossible for one to level without an active card, especially when it would take centuries to reach the numbers on that card. As Eris was thinking of ways to expose the fraud, she heard the name of the said person being welcomed by the other patrons. What was his name again? Reed? Read? Oh, that's right, Reid!

She heard footsteps walking towards the bar where she was sitting, that must be Reid, her Goddess luck was already kicking in today! As he got closer to her, Eris turned to look at him. He was tall, over 7 foot, with mid-length white hair and three bangs resting on his unnaturally handsome face, resembling the talons of a bird or a dragon. His sharp, deep blue eyes shone brighter than his silver armor, and he wore a large, finely woven cloak with royal blue fabric draped on his shoulders. She noticed the vertical scar running through his left eye, but said eye seemed undamaged. He looked as if he was annoyed, a deep scowl adorning his features.

He was accompanied by two girls, one was a bubbly cute girl who was mesmerized by the place. Her spiky, neck-length hair had red streaks, and the glistening silver eyes were quite the rare sight in this world. The other girl looked slightly more mature, with a voluptuous figure, long blonde hair reaching her waist, and lilac eyes. Her confident smirk could make any man swoon.

Both of them wore expensive-looking armor. The younger girl wore a red-colored dragon scale armor with a red cloak strapped on it, and the other girl wore a metal one that had a beautiful golden luster. She could feel the magic coming from them, indicating that they're no ordinary armors, but ones enchanted by a skilled mage.

At first glance, this man looked like a king instead of an adventurer. His intimidating presence demanded respect and attention, causing Eris to be slightly wary of him. She shook her head, no way he's a real royalty. Why would a king visit a place like this?

She activated one of her lesser-known Goddess abilities, allowing her to observe a person and obtain the same readings as a scanner. For anyone else, she would have gotten a mental picture of what their adventurer card was supposed to look like. But Reid was a Gamer with a sentient Gamer System, and said System decided to "help" Eris with proof of Reid's achievements.

Eris was immediately dragged into a vision, she didn't know what was happening, only that the world she was looking upon was not any world she knew as the world had a shattered moon. She then saw Reid, fighting against hordes of black, red, and white monsters as their bodies dissipated soon after being killed. The monsters resembled the shapes of werewolves, boars, apes, birds and so much more.

She saw Reid killing people, humans, and demihumans, who could barely manage to put up a resistance against his onslaught. She saw him brutally slaughter them all without any mercy, all while having a dark smirk on his face. She would have vomited if this wasn't a vision. It didn't matter who opposed him, black monsters, humans, demihumans, a few magic users, even robots fought him. They all desired his death, only to fall to his blade and magic.

She saw Reid fighting against titanic creatures of black alongside an endless tide of black monsters of varying sizes. There were so many of them that they flooded the lands and clouded the skies, stretching from horizon to horizon. It didn't matter in the least. She saw his rampage through the sea of black, slaying them in such numbers that there were mountains of corpses, the corpses mounting faster then they could dissipate. And then she saw it, a colossal black monster in the shape of a dragon, even larger than the infamous Destroyer.

She didn't know how, but she understood that the dragon would have gone on to destroy the world if it wasn't stopped. She saw a battle of legendary proportions, with Reid triumphing and standing over the corpse of the dragon. She saw Reid being crowned as the world's God-Emperor, millions cheering and worshipping his name, for who else but a God could have accomplished such feats?

And then two Gods descended upon the world.

What she witnessed next would forever be scarred into her mind, for she saw a battle that could never be fully described in words. She saw mountains atomized and people disintegrated from being too close to the fallout of their attacks. She saw the shattered pieces of the moon being flung as projectiles. She saw the landscape being reshaped and the laws of physics breaking down from the sheer amount of power that was being unleashed in the conflict. But what terrified her the most, was the face of Reid as he fought the two Gods.

A face of pure joy.

He laughed as he unleashed attacks that could wipe out entire cities. He laughed as he took hits that would have erased a person from existence. He laughed as he finally struck down one of the Gods. He laughed even more as the last God tried to flee, only to be cut down from behind. She couldn't believe what she was seeing, but deep down she knew them to be absolutely true, that these visions were scenes of the past.

She then noticed something from the corner of her eye, the adventurer card that her ability was supposed to have shown her, except it was different. What was supposed to be a small pocketable card, was instead a massive roll of parchment. The parchment unfolded by itself and she was able to read the last words on it.

GODS KILLED: 2

THE BROTHER GOD OF LIGHT AND CREATION

THE BROTHER GOD OF DARKNESS AND DESTRUCTION

This was not an adventurer card, not even close. This... was a kill counter. That was when the vision ended and she found herself back in the bar. She quickly realized several things, the visions lasted a second at most, she was hyperventilating, her pants were soaked in her pee and... oh fuck, Reid was standing in front of her. Reid, the slayer of millions of monsters, ruler of an entire world, and killer of Gods was standing in front of her. Reid was looking directly at her with a dark frown.

He knew.

He knew.

HE KNEW.

Her body trembled uncontrollably and she fell off her stool. She quickly adjusted herself to be on all fours with her head on the floor bowing towards him. Please, she didn't want to die, she didn't want to become another name in an ever-expanding list. What could she, a Goddess of fortune, do against someone who took the full wrath of two Gods at the same time and won?

She cried a waterfall of tears as she tried to speak in garbled words, that she was sorry as she listed any self-perceived sin she might have committed. She cried as she promised to never return to the mortal world, to never steal anything ever again, to never shrink away from her duties. She cried as she finally understood why people prayed, why they believed in a higher power, and how she desperately wanted to pray to someone right then.

As she finished bawling, she peeked up and saw Reid squatting with a grasping hand approaching her. This was the end, she was going to die here. She closed her eyes and hoped that her death would at least be quick and painless. But there was no pain nor death, only warmth and a feeling of something on her head? She opened her eyes and looked up, realizing what had happened. Reid did not have his hand out to crush her skull, but instead, to headpat her.

What was happening? Why was she getting calmer? Why were her fears suddenly draining away? It was such a big dichotomy that she couldn't comprehend it, how could somebody who had happily butchered people, be so gentle and caring? Reid continued to gently caress her head, before moving closer to embrace her in a hug. She didn't resist it, still too bewildered from everything she had experienced as her tears dried up.

As she succumbed to her exhaustion from the rollercoaster of emotions, she heard Reid spoke barely above a whisper. "Sure, Game, let's traumatize the goddess of fortune for shits and giggles. That's definitely not gonna bite me in the ass later..."

She didn't know what he meant, but as she closed her eyes, her head on Reid's lap, she had at least understood that while Reid was a merciless killer, he was also a protector. A protector that provided her with the feeling of safety for the first time ever. And as she dreamt of being saved by Reid, from the horrific black monsters, her dreams propagated to her most devout followers.

In the coming days, her church would go through a schism, her worshippers arguing about interpreting the visions. But there was one thing that they all agreed upon, a three worded sentence that while short, held great power and would eventually be inducted into their prayers. As news that the Demonic Armies and the Demon King himself were slain by a single person, the sentence would spread to the other faiths, becoming the singular truth that united them. A three worded sentence that heroes shouted and monsters feared.

THE EMPEROR PROTECTS.
