After Soul, Pixar's next animated film takes place in Italy. Like the trailers suggested, it was more of a feel-good film compared to a serious one. But it's still good, not a masterpiece, but still good.

Luca is a sea monster who lives with his family on the Italian Riviera. One day, he ventures on land with a new friend, Alberto, who is also a sea monster, against his mother's wishes. This is like a friendship version of The Little Mermaid. Fun Fact: The town is named after the film Porco Rosso from Studio Ghibli.

The boys then meet a girl, Giulia, and enter a contest in the hopes of winning a Vespa. There is a bully, Ercole, however, who wants to beat them. When they noticed Luca got on land, his parents too venture ashore to search for him. Oh and this seaside town hates sea monsters and wants to get rid of them.

So like Soul, this went straight to Disney Plus and was free right away (well free with Disney Plus). This, of course, angered some of the crew on Luca. They wanted the film in theaters, but that of course, didn't happen.

So will Pixar's next film, Turning Red go to theaters? Only time will tell. Pixar probably wants it, but it depends on Disney and the current situation by then.
