"Tale as old as time, song as old as rhyme…" Oh, sorry, wrong Beauty and the Beast adoption. That was from the Disney animated beloved masterpiece. This is the Japanese take on the French fairy tale.
In this take, Suzu, (who's avatar and online name is also the name of the movie) is a Japanese high schooler. She enters the virtual online world known as You, and there she meets the Beast. If you know the story (and I highly assume you do), that's all you're getting from me.
This movie has music, and my gosh, when Suzu, or Belle, is in the online world, she sings like an angel. This is just coming from the English dub, but I assume the original Japanese VA sang beautifully too, maybe better. The animation is gorgeous too.
You may think you know this tale already, but this take is different. It may be telling the same story, but at the same time, this is its own thing. This may not be Hayao Miyazaki, but he isn't the only Japanese storyteller who can share with their viewers an amazing story. But they're still good and deserve a viewing. As the name of this movie suggests, this movie is beautiful inside and out.
