The next couple of blogs will be more two-parters. These are the movies that we have seen. I decided to split them up. The first two are Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and The Bad Guys. First up is Sonic.
The trailers weren't lying. This movie has a lot more action then the first. It is still lighthearted, but more so this time around. It has more characters; Knuckles and Tails. Jim Carry looks more like Dr. Robotnik from the games.
Tom and his wife, Maddie, go to Hawaii for Maddie's sister's wedding. But because Sonic is living with them, they travel through his magic ring portal, not an airplane. They then leave Sonic and Ozzie, the dog, behind.
Later, Dr. Robotnic arrives, but he's not alone. Knuckles is with him. Tails then arrives and saves Sonic. In this movie, the two animals meet for the first time, same with Knuckles. Tails and Sonic then go on an adventure with Knuckles and Robotnic on their trails.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is really freaking good, better than the first one. Some argue it might be the best video game movie adoption yet. Let's just say, it pleases a lot of Sonic fans. And if you're not a Sonic or a video game fan, I'd say you'll still have a blast with this movie. I know I did.
Dreamworks's newest film, The Bad Guys surprised us all to how entertaining, funny, and enjoyable it is. The whole film was just a joy to watch from start to finish, even if it is predictable.
It's based on a children's Australian graphic novel book series. It tells the story of Mr. Snake, Mr. Wolf, Mr. Piranha, Ms. Tarantula, and Mr. Shark. They do all sorts of heists. Mr. Wolf suddenly realizes the good life might be better and tries to convince his buddies.
They then meet Professor Rubert Marmalade IV, a guinea pig who tries to teach them all to be good, but because they're used to being bad, struggles through these tasks.
A meteorite is then stolen, and because of their reputations at being bad, the bad guys are quickly blamed.
I guess some could argue this might have the same elements as Zootopia. They both have foxes and animals with bad reputations. And yes, Zootopia is a better film, but this one is still unique in its own way and both tell different stories. I haven't read the books due to me being an adult, but I can see why these books are a best seller. It's Ocean's 11 for kids (that's what I heard anyways).
If you're a Sonic fan and you liked the first movie, you'll love the second, it's a massive improvement and like Tails appearing in the credits of the first movie, there's a surprise waiting for you at the credits of this movie. Dreamworks movies are mainly hits or missies, but they're known to make good and decent movies, and they have another good film under their belt. Despite its name, The Bad Guys proved to be flat out good.
