Und yet another horrible school shooting had happened in America on May 24th. And like Sandy Hook in 2012, this one is another elementary school, Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. This is old news, so all of you probably know about this, but better late than never!
Now before this violent and horrible attack happened, the prime suspect, an 18-year-old, texted (and this truly disturbed me even more) a 15-year old from Germany. He communicated his planned actions to her. She had told a friend to call the US authorities when she heard the news and that she didn't know his true intentions. I mean, who would be all for killing innocent grade schoolers? A sick individual, that's who! And how dare he drag a 15 year-old girl from my country into this, the audacity!
This evil monster shot his grandmother in the face before heading to the school and entered interconnecting classrooms and barricaded himself with the kids. With the 19 kids he senselessly killed, he also killed two adults.
And what makes matters even worse is that the kids called 911 a few times, pleading for help, but an officer made a grave mistake and had the police wait over an hour before doing anything. I mean, these were kids here, and even then, you just don't stand idly by while innocent lives were being taken! Inexcusable! I hope the officers got fired and the parents sue them. Police are suppose to help, not stand around for over an hour. If they did their jobs, lives might have been spared. SMH, shameful!
President Joe Biden talked about this live on the evening of the tragedy. He had just came back from a trip from Asia. He said that he had prayed that he never had to do this talk when he became president and he's so sick and tired of this happening, and this really happens in America. School shootings do happen around the world, but not as frequently as America. Why? I agreed. Why? I agreed with everything he said in his speech. I, too, am sick and tired of all of these school shootings and other violent shootings across this nation.
Hayley, who also was in a school shooting when she was almost seven, had some pretty intense PTSD flashbacks to that awful school day. So did we. In fact, she had a nightmare where she relieved it. Poor woman! She had the same flashbacks when we heard about Sandy Hook. She was about the same age as those first graders, so it was even worse back then!
So, ja, I want a change in gun laws, und I want them now! Other countries don't have to go through these tragic occurrences. Will American gun laws change? I'm sad to say that it's very doubtful. But it needs to. It really does. My heart and prayers goes out to the victims' families and everyone affected. This blog is for all of you! School shootings are horrible and always will be. Fly high, little angels. I'm so, so sorry that America has failed you once again.
A shooting at the grocery store ten days prior to this one are in a series of gun violences. There was a shooting at a church, a cemetary, a school shooting threat by a ten-year old (a 10-year old), a grad party and more. America is getting scary, people. Steve is scared of going back to school in the Fall, and I don't blame him. Nowhere is safe these days. Please, stay safe.
