Illumination finally came out with a really good movie, The Super Mario Bros. Movie. At first, Steve and his friends all were skeptical of this movie because it's from an Illumination movie, but man, did it prove us wrong. We knew it had to be better than the live-action Mario movie of 1993, but we didn't expect it to be this good! They all went together to see this movie, and I convinced them to tag me along!

So Mario and Luigi get sucked into a pipe one day and they get separated. So now, Mario, now in the Mushroom Kingdom has to save Luigi. He gets Toad, Princess Peach and Donkey Kong with the other Kongs. to help. Luigi gets captured by Bowser in the Dark Lands.

Now, you're probably surprised that I'm familiar with all things Mario and that I even play the games at all. Well, let me tell you something, I do, so shut up! I know of him and his games because of Steve. I see him play Mario games from my fishbowl all of the time when he's playing alone and with his friends. So I know all about that man and his brother Luigi. I even have seen some of the cartoons from the eighties and early nineties.

Now, like many Mario fans, we disliked the idea of Mario being played by Chris Pratt. But he did a decent job. Both Charlie Day and Jack Black did great at Luigi and Bowser respectively. The other VAs did great too, well, maybe except Cranky Kong.

You probably will need to be a Mario fan to understand this movie and get all of the references. Do NOT listen to Rotten Tomatoes. None of them probably know of him and his games well enough to get it. But audiences loved it and so did we! The 1993 one most likely didn't get it because they didn't grow up on Mario like the Illumination one did. The Illumination one did their homework and that's why it's the superior Super Mario Bros. Film.

The fact that it's breaking records, even beating Frozen 2 proves that it's a good movie. Also the fact that Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator, helped out with this project and they partnered with Nintendo. Is that not enough proof for you? If you still won't see this film because it is from Illumination and you hate their movies, thus you think you'd hate this film too, trust me, it's like this one isn't from the studio at all. Give this movie a chance. It's like they say, you can never judge a book by it's cover. People hated the idea of a live action Sonic movie when the first trailer came out for their first movie and they all ended up loving that movie and the sequel. This is just like that. Also like the animated Soney movies releasing the Emoji Movie before Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Oh yeah, and stay for all of the credits. You will thank me and see why when you go see the movie.
