Chapter 2: Friends Like These...

You know the old saying: Prying is bad taste.

-(6:08 PM, Beacon Academy)-

(Third-Person View)

With the beginning of the evening now approaching Beacon Academy, all four members of Team RWBY were approaching down the cobblestone path after recently finishing a quick errand around Vale City. Each of them carried two bags of either groceries or other items. Blake had the heaviest bags due to her inventory containing more books than snacks or any other essentials. It wasn't much of a hassle as she could handle herself with heavy bagging almost like her blonde teammate, Yang Xiao Long. As for snowy white-haired Weiss Schnee, she needed a bit of assistance to carry her own. So, the red-haired Ruby Rose decided to gladly help her out due to her beliefs of helping a team member being essential to their own code of honor. The entire path was empty as they continued to proceed without any other problems.

Weiss sighed as she dropped the bags gently in order to avoid damaging any fragile items inside. "When I said we should go out for a quick errand, I wasn't expecting this much stuff." She said while checking her hands for any blisters.

"Are you really that exhausted just by carrying two bags? I thought you were stronger than all of us, as you claim to be." Yang teased as she gave a small nudge to her.

Weiss blushed and weakly nudged back. "Shut up. Sometimes a girl needs to lay off the hard work when they're clearly not on a mission."

"As a Hunter, you need to be ready for the lack of resting, since we're titled as the only best protectors of humanity against the Grimm." Blake stated.

"I know. Just give me some time to collect my strength." Weiss stretched her arms before picking the bags back up. "Yang, do you really need these clothes? It's strictly mandatory to stick to the dress code in Beacon."

She showed off a smirk and shrugged her shoulders. "Sometimes, you need to look good outside of that weird uniform. Especially when you're kicking butt out there. You'll never know when they'll decide to put you in the front of the paper."

"Just don't reach the level of being a narcissist when you're out there, sis." Ruby rolled her eyes. "It's not attractive." She added.

As soon as they reached the inner campus, it was in the same empty state as the cobblestone pathway – empty from any other students. Many of them were already in their dorms or still off campus doing errands at the same time when Team RWBY left for Vale City. Tomorrow was the beginning of the weekends, so all students decided to do their own thing instead of studying for any upcoming assignments. However, there was only one group in front of the amphitheater, but it consisted of only four people. Another team? Maybe, or maybe not.

"Huh, guess everyone decided to hit the hay early tonight." Ruby shrugged.

"Good. The less struggle of bumping into everyone else, the better." Weiss said while stepping forward.

"I agree. Let's just head up to the room before Weiss finally throws a fit." Yang shrugged her shoulders.

Rolling her eyes, Weiss began to lead the team down the pathway to the dorm buildings where they resided in. However, it also led them closer to the amphitheater while it gave them a closer look at the only group of four. Team RWBY slowed down a bit in order to ascertain who the four of them were. Three familiar and well-respected Professors of Beacon: Professor/Headmaster Ozpin, Professor Goodwitch, Professor Isaac, and that unknown student from the library who was still not in dress code. Still wearing the same apparel with his weapons visible, it made Weiss turn completely suspicious and tried to keep an eye on him just in case for any stray or surprise attacks he will give to the three instructors. Apparently, that was not the case as Ozpin, Goodwitch, and Isaac were more than relaxed while having a detailed conversation with the mysterious student.

Weiss sighed quietly as she wasn't really in a mood at this point. "Oh, that guy again."

"Pretty cute, huh? I agree." Yang snickered.

"Quit framing me with your own fantasies, Yang."

Ruby gasped as she began to excitingly stare at the mysterious student as if she was already close to running up to him. "Oh my God! Look at his...his...!"

"Oh, perfect. Don't tell me you've already fallen for that guy now..." Weiss facepalmed.

"Of course not. However, I think I just experienced love at first sight. In love with his swords!" She squealed loudly as her weapon interests started to kick in, making her step closely in order to examine them more without him noticing.

"Do us all a favor, geek out back at the dorm." Weiss held her arm to stop her advances. "We really shouldn't bother that guy if he's chatting with those three." She told her, but noticed something strange regarding the newcomer's weapons when she was in the same distance as Ruby. It almost seemed unique and different in terms of design, compared to the advanced weaponry she has seen before. She was from Atlas, the kingdom of technological and weapon superiority and yet it was still a mystery for her to figure out what the two swords were made of, and powered by. "Wait a minute. Are those swords even powered by dust?" She asked while trying to get a good examination on them. "Pretty weird design, if I may add."

"If they were, Ruby would be SCHNEEzing right about now." Yang let out the pun she wanted to say.

"It's so annoying when you talk like that." She rolled her eyes.

Before Yang could reply to her comment, Ruby hushed her team as they quickly went hidden behind a set of bushes in order to avoid detection. They started to hear a lot more clearly about Professor Isaac speak about this 'Wyvern' character and his classes along with questioning where he would be staying. Ozpin, the one answering all his questions, told him that Wyvern would be residing into a private dorm room by himself under supervision from the staff. Instead of in the student dorm building, it was located in the staff dorm building where no other students will enter or be curious enough to meet him on the first week.

Ozpin scanned his eyes across the area suspiciously in order to ensure they weren't being spied upon or eavesdropped. He stopped his eyes on the bushes where Team RWBY were hidden in, making the four girls freeze in dead silence. With that, Ozpin looked away and went back to speaking with Isaac. "It's best to put him in the same building with us, because we definitely need to keep a closer eye on him. Not to mention very convenient enough when Glynda's room is literally next to his."

"Well, first off, I openly agree with this arrangement and all, but I was just wondering why separate him from the other students when he has a dorm for himself? Just curious." Isaac asked while glancing at Wyvern, who was giving a rather shameful expression. "Oh...was that too personal?"

Glynda sighed and looked at her scroll in order to explain and answer to Isaac's question. "Have you read the files regarding his mental records, written by Ostanes himself?"

"I honestly didn't have time to read them because of my lectures with my students. Why? What did you see?"

"We really shouldn't be clear on explaining it out in the open like this." Glynda looked around, unaware that Team RWBY was deeply hidden behind the bushes. When Ozpin gave her a small nod for her to continue, she decided to just do it. However, Goodwitch was still suspicious enough to not spill any clear information about Wyvern and just kept the explanation brief. "Basically, Wyvern has been reported to be unstable and contains something that is considered to put other students at risk. Especially if he has roommates."

"That, and my overall identity." Wyvern added while letting out a small sigh. "I know, there are things wrong with me and all of you know it. To be honest, there's no need to try and hide any of the facts. I just want my Professors to be honest with me. Also, is it really common for some students to have their own private dorm?" Wyvern asked curiously while looking at the dorm building from the distance. "Other students may find it odd that I'm residing in the staff quarters..."

"That's not exactly how Beacon works. However, under the circumstances from your Master asking for a mandatory transfer for you, he arranged everything before your arrival." Ozpin replied after taking a sip of his coffee. "Your room used to be a dorm for one of my 'colleagues', but I'm sure you'll find it comforting enough like your other room back in your residence."

Wyvern chuckled and laid his eyes towards another direction. "You don't have to worry about me being picky. If there's a roof under my head, I'll be fine."

Back to the four peepers, Yang chuckled lightly and looked at her teammates, who all glanced at her, confused. "So~...his name is Wyvern, eh? Yeah. That's definitely a weird name for a guy like him." She commented.

Weiss took a quick peek through the bushes and watched Wyvern depart from the three Professors while heading to a nearby vending machine next to the entrance of the amphitheater to get a canned soft drink. "That's an understatement. No offense, but this guy is giving me a bad vibe about everything."

"Why?"

"You didn't hear Professor Goodwitch state that there is something wrong with him? And the fact that it has the potential to put other students at risk from harm? Or worse?"

"She does make a good point, Yang." Blake said with a small nod. "In fact, why would Professor Ozpin take this guy in? Even after it was proven he is 'unstable' in some way?"

"It's probably something we're not supposed to know about?" Ruby made a small guess while continuing to watch Wyvern. "He may look strange as a student of Beacon, and a bit threatening, but it almost seems like he's harmless enough." She said while Wyvern gulped down his first can of soda before sheepishly buying a second one, hoping nobody will see him as a glutton.

"True. Maybe we should just relax a bit and have some trust into them." Blake recommended. "This isn't really supposed to be our problem, so far. Ozpin, Goodwitch, and Isaac are professionals on what they do. So, if something goes wrong, they can handle it, or we can give them a hand too."

With a slightly convinced nod, Weiss settled down and stopped peeking at Wyvern minding his own business. "I suppose. I'll try to act civil next time I meet him directly. But that doesn't mean I won't remain cautious."

"Agreed." Ruby watched Wyvern grab his third can, making her giggle at his thirst for a possible new favorite drink. "Hmmm... how about I try to get to know him better? He's new here, and he'll probably need a first friend to help him understand the place more."

"Ruby~? Are you trying to make the first move before I do?" Yang smirked while snickering quietly.

"What the-?! NO!" Ruby shouted out loud, but shut her mouth immediately as she could hear her echoes reach around the campus, which Wyvern no doubt heard it.

Wyvern jolted and stopped getting his fourth can when he heard 'NO!' out of nowhere. "Alright, I won't get my fourth drink!" He blushed wildly, and power walked away from the machine, thinking someone wanted him to stop hogging all the soda.

Yang covered her laughter as she watched her little sister's face grow redder in utter embarrassment. "Now look what you did. Ruining a young man enjoying his drink and you scared him off." She teased.

"Sh-Shut up!" She sighed and got back to what she was explaining to them. "The plan is that I should carefully watch over him and see what he does. Then, I'll determine if he's a sketchy kind of guy or not, without him noticing."

"So basically, what you're saying is that you're gonna spy on him?" Yang raised an eyebrow.

"Well, no." Ruby shook her head and chuckled a little. "I'm just going to keep an eye on him...from a safe distance." She added.

Blake gave an unimpressed look to her from that redundant explanation. "That's considered spying on someone."

"Alright, maybe I am going to spy on him. But it's only for the sake of everyone's safety around the school." She admitted.

"Good luck." Weiss shrugged her shoulders and tried to carry the bags she was holding. "Let's just get these to the room first."

Ruby noticed Wyvern was walking away even further from the group as it was her sign to begin her pursuit. She looked at Weiss, who was already struggling with the bags, and handed her own two at her. "Do you mind taking these too? Thanks! You're the best!" She said quickly before running away to not hear any of Weiss' ranting over her abandonment.

"Hey! Wait a minute! Ruby! Get back here, NOW!" Weiss shouted out loud in pure frustration.

While running further away and no longer able to hear Weiss' demands for her return, Ruby began to slow down as she soon discovered Wyvern has already reached the building where the library was located. She kept herself hidden by hiding behind a conveniently placed plant pot while she watched Wyvern pant a bit while leaning against the wall. It was obvious that he was a bit out of breath after retreating from the front of the amphitheater. Deep down inside, Ruby did feel bad for ruining his moment of enjoying the soft drinks he kept ordering on the vending machine. It was a bit relatable as she isn't able to resist even one cookie whenever she sees one. All she wanted to do was to go up to him and apologize, but she hesitated as she remembered she had to keep an eye on him without getting noticed. Ruby watched as Wyvern then headed inside the library, possibly getting some books that were required for his classes. Stealthily, she snuck up to the door, getting some awkward stares from other students walking out, and walked in as soon as Wyvern was further enough not to hear or see her from an aisle of bookshelves. As expected, Wyvern was getting some books that were required from Professor Isaac's class, which was an unexpected discovery for Ruby's case as she doesn't know his schedule completely.

"He's in the same class as I am in second period. Nice." Ruby smiled to herself as it was now making her job easier. "Wonder what his homeroom will be though..."

Little did Ruby know, her whispers to herself could still be slightly heard by Wyvern because of the library being mostly silent of anything else, making it easier to hear even the small whispers and footsteps. Suspiciously, Wyvern scanned the aisle thoroughly as Ruby jolted and hid herself to another, behind a solid set of books where she was convinced to not be seen. Still feeling Wyvern's eyes staring at where she stood, Ruby began to bite her lip nervously while praying she wouldn't be caught so easily. Like a miracle, Wyvern began to walk away from where he stood and headed back to the librarian's desk as she noticed him approaching and got the scanner ready for check-out. Now having a window of opportunity of moving, Ruby dashed towards the last aisle she will be hiding in and peeked through the books once again. Her spot was much closer to the librarian and Wyvern to the point where she was able to see which books he wanted to get. But something surprised Ruby about the books in general.

"What the-?" She gasped silently and looked closer to make sure she wasn't just seeing them incorrectly. "Those are the same books I have. No, his time schedules are probably different compared to mine." She added to herself as it didn't seem like a huge coincidence, but she really wanted to believe it was.

Wyvern smiled warmly at the librarian and gave the set of books to her. "Here you go. This is all required texts I need."

"Alrighty then. Welcome back, Wyvern." The librarian scanned each of the books thoroughly and gave a small smirk at the new student. "Oh, you forgot one."

He raised an eyebrow and took out a piece of paper containing a list of text books he was supposed to check out. "But...I have all the books I'm supposed to get. Are you sure that I forgot one?"

"Yes. If I'm not mistaken, you haven't gotten your hands on that romance smut novel, correct?"

Wyvern's face turned red when she made that assumption from an event earlier today. "That 'Ninjas of Love' book wasn't mine!"

"Oh, come now. You don't need to hide your hobbies from me, Wyvern. I'll admit that I read some out of curiosity, but didn't get into it as it focused on smut rather than the plot." She said while still giving off that teasing smile and handed over the books. "Another student named Blake told me that she was trying to give it back to you when you ran out in a hurry."

"Wait, she told you that was mine?! How could she frame me like that...?" He facepalmed to cover his face in shame.

"All jokes aside, Mr. Kumawaka, just keep in mind that if you are to lose these books, you will have to report to me. These all together are much more valuable than your average high school education texts." She noted and handed him the pile of books after scanning them. "Just don't go off selling these in Vale." She added.

"Didn't you just say I'm not supposed to lose these due to their value? Of course not."

"Good boy." She nodded her head while watching him grab the pile and leave for the exit.

Before Ruby was able to follow him out, the librarian turned her head towards her and raised an eyebrow when she noticed Ruby didn't check out any book whatsoever. She suspiciously stared while correcting her glasses.

"Ms. Rose?" The librarian started, "What are you doing?"

Ruby gulped nervously and began to think of any excuse that would be appropriate for her being at the library. "Nothing." She replied, to which she failed immediately.

"Ruby, I have heard that answer many times to the point where it's not really convincing." She chuckled and noticed her staring at the exit where Wyvern went through. "Oh, I see. Curious about the new student, are we?"

"Maybe...?"

"His name is Wyvern Akua Kumawaka. Try saying that fast five times."

"Wyvern Aku-"

"Nonononono. I was kidding on that last part." She clarified. "The details I can offer is pretty slim. But all I can tell you is that Wyvern is a young man from the Drahën Empire that was sent here for some...'special training'."

"So, he is foreign."

"Indeed, he is. Just between you and me, there is a lot of cute guys in the Drahën Empire." She shrugged her eyebrows teasingly.

"Uhh...thanks for sharing that info, but that's not important."

The librarian chuckled and went back to explaining what else she knew about him. "The special training, he is definitely here for something even I don't know about. I'm just the academy's librarian, after all. However, if Professor Ozpin is taking this matter seriously on one person, then it's definitely something big."

"Is...first off, I don't want to come off as rude, but is he considered dangerous? I kind of heard some parts of the conversation he was having with Professor Ozpin, Goodwitch, and Isaac."

"I certainly don't know the young man too personally. But, all I can tell you is this, based on what I've seen or heard from him: Be glad you're on the 'good side' with us. Otherwise, expect to be absent forever." She answered honestly, even with the calm expression she was giving Ruby.

Gulping nervously, Ruby began to remember the small brief mention from Professor Goodwitch about Wyvern's instability. She wasn't sure what it was absolutely about, but it was enough for her to feel her heart drop a bit. Hearing the librarian's explanation regarding Wyvern's levels of danger, it began to make her question if spying on him was a good idea. "Looks like I really should leave him alone..."

"Oh, don't worry about that part." She chuckled and leaned back on her chair with a wide smile. "He may despise criminals and other evildoers...and wishes them to be fed to the Grimm, I mean, who doesn't? But he is as sweet as a jar of cookies. Believe me, it'll be easy to talk to him once you meet him firsthand. Speaking of which, why not just go up to him?"

"As much as I wanted to, I figured that all I'm deciding to do is just keeping an eye on him to make sure he's no real threat. From a safe distance."

"That means you're spying on him."

"Yes, I know I'm spying on him!" Ruby groaned and looked towards the exit and realized she still had work to do. "Listen, I gotta go and catch up with him before I lose him. Thanks for the info, but just don't say anything about us having this talk. Please?"

The librarian giggled and nodded her head, accepting the promise she will give. "Your secret is safe with me."

Before turning around towards the exit, Ruby gave a warm smile and waved goodbye to the librarian. As soon as she was nowhere to be seen, the librarian chuckled and took out her scroll to do something while passing the time as the library was pretty empty right now. She leaned back on her chair and began to type something in her scroll.

(Wyvern's POV)

"All I'm doing is just keeping an eye on him to make sure he's no real threat. From a safe distance."

"That means you're spying on him."

"Yes, I know I'm spying on him! Listen, I gotta go and catch up with him before I lose him. Thanks for the info, but just don't say anything about us having this talk. Please?"

The librarian giggled. "Your secret is safe with me."

I sighed nervously and took a last quick peek to see both of them departing their ways while that black and redhaired girl was now approaching the exit where I was hidden from. Immediately, I ran down the hall quickly to gain some distance to trick this "Ruby" girl that I was still unaware of her presence. She was further enough away from me to stay hidden if I didn't know she was there. But it was defeating the purpose as her boots were causing enough noise through the empty hall of students. Curious to see her again, I picked up my scroll from inside my pocket and tilted it a bit on my side while at least trying to pretend I'm reading a text. I jolted as I realized she was a lot closer than before. She was either trying to get a closer look at me, or she wasn't so good at spying, since one of the tactics was to keep yourself away from a safe distance to avoid detection or suspicion. Suddenly, my view of the rear was blocked as my screen lit up as a new message notification was displayed.

It was a message from an unknown contact, which made me question if I should read it or not. Plus, I don't recall even adding anybody on my contacts list ever since I arrived here and got this new scroll that was given as a replacement of my old one. With my curiosity getting the best of me, I decided to open up the unread message and got a straightforward statement that sent shivers down my spine.

"You've gotten yourself some stalkers now, eh? Good luck! -I" The text message read.

I didn't know who this person was exactly, but this "I" person clearly has his/her sights on me. Now that I think about it, I'm probably getting stalked by Ruby, and now this person who sent me this message. At this moment, I just felt like sweating bullets like I could feel Ruby getting uncomfortably closer behind my back. Next thing I'll know, she might just breathe on my neck soon. Everything continued to seem off; my senses continued to act up as if Ruby wasn't the only threat nearby. This made me start to powerwalk as I could hear the same speed of steps behind me. She was staying close as she didn't want to lose any sight of me. I hesitated to confront her because it might either scare her, or feel embarrassed when I caught her in the act all this time. So, I just kept going.

Already closing in onto the staff building, I began to notice the girl's footsteps started to fade a bit as if she was beginning to keep her distance. It seems when I reached the entrance of the staff dormitory, she took extra precautions to keep further away from my back and hid herself behind some of the campus' vegetation, as I could hear the rustling of the leaves. Looking at the reflection of the glass entrance, I saw her peeking her head a bit from a bush and figured this would be her stop of stalking me. For a brief moment, she retreated back into the bush as it convinced me she couldn't follow me even further. I opened the doors and headed inside only to be welcomed to the bland yet somewhat calming scent of fresheners though the hall. What surprised me too was when I noticed that the place was much cleaner than I anticipated while decorated in a luxurious fashion. Clean hardwood flooring made from the Sanus Crimson Trees, banners with the Beacon crest on it hanging on the walls with famous paintings of past Hunters/Huntresses, and furniture like tables and chairs along with potted plants next to the windows to gain some of the sunlight.

The curtains were clean white as it blended in with the yellow and orange sunset. It was rather odd that some red coloring was added into the curtains on the furthest one as...wait a minute. I looked closer to realize that the red coloring was coming from outside. It moved quickly away from the window as I froze where I stood, feeling the cold sweat trickling down my neck.

"She's still following me...?!" I shivered nervously as my uneasiness started to come right back to me.

Having enough of being stalked, I ran down the halls as fast as I could while trying to find the stairway to the third floor, where my dorm was located. Fortunately, the place was almost vacant as it made my escape much easier and faster without the trouble of getting caught or bumping into others. Except for when I reached the third floor. There was a blonde girl in the distance down the opposite side of the hallway from my dorm. She just gave me a small glance from afar and gave an awkward wave with some strange gloves on her hand before walking inside a room, which I assumed was a public restroom. Not only that, a small glimpse of a red cape outside the window that wasn't supposed to be there made my heart drop harder. Keep in mind, I was on the third floor! So, this girl basically climbed her way up here in order to continue her stalking!

Then, I finally reached sanctuary – my private dorm room. I shut the door and turned around to get a good look inside of my room that I will be living in for the next few years. It was pretty much like a basic studio apartment with a living room, a short wall that acted as a boundary between the living room and my bedroom, with only curtains being the only coverage of privacy of where I'll be sleeping, and a convenient kitchen next to the glass sliding door that had a small balcony of the campus. Above me was the skylight windows that had the option of being shielded, which I decided to leave open due to the nice sunset sky. The television was currently on a looping channel with Professor Goodwitch's greetings as it was the only sound inside the entire studio before I shut it off.

My mouth was dry from all the running in the halls and the stairs, which automatically made me head to the kitchen to find a drink to refresh myself. The fridge contained food that my parents left behind from their previous visit in order to ensure I was already set for my meals instead of going grocery shopping immediately on the first day. Convenient, but it would've been nice to go out to explore the city a bit. Most of the food and such were from the Drahën Empire due to the product labels, so I decided to go out tomorrow maybe to try some traditional Vale Kingdom food. But right now, my main focus was getting a water bottle, which was located in the fridge's additional drawer where bottles or cans were meant to be placed. I chugged down half the bottle and looked around the counter, only to notice something next to the microwave and oven.

A plate of eight cookies with a note next to it that read...

"Welcome to Beacon Academy, Wyvern! I hope you'll enjoy your stay while journeying into the development of becoming an official Hunter! We haven't met in person yet, but Professor Ozpin would surely remember to make us see each other. My name is Alice Pasha. I'm basically the housekeeper and custodian around Beacon. With that, I took the liberty of cleaning up your dorm again today, just before your arrival. A lot of dust seems to love developing inside your room. And please, accept these cookies as a complimentary of welcoming you here. Enjoy! Hope you love chocolate chip!" -Alice Pasha

I couldn't help but smile at this woman's hospitality towards new students. Knowing her as the housekeeper and custodian for an academy with a huge campus, she must be very busy with her work schedule. And yet, she took her time to bake these for me. When I meet Alice, I'll be sure to say my thanks.

The smell of the cookies was already strong enough to make my mouth water, but my own odor of sweat just ruined it. Speaking of which, I haven't washed myself ever since I was at home, getting ready for my flight, which was 14 hours ago. Not to mention that I had to do some exercise and show off my combat skills in the amphitheater earlier today. And the amount of stress from being stalked, but it wasn't too major. So, with that, I headed to the bathroom to rinse off my hair and body. My school uniform was hanging on the rack next to the sink, so I decided to wear them to see if the size was correct after my shower. As soon as I finished with the shower, I put a reminder that I had to buy a new bottle of shampoo and body wash in order to replace the generic brand. I dried myself up and started to get dressed into my uniform. It fits nicely and comfortably. Unfortunately, I had to keep the eyepatch on my left eye on. It doesn't seem to be fitting with my uniform, making it quite an eyesore. Pun intended.

Walking out of the steaming bathroom, I was welcomed with the fresh air blowing in from the sliding door to the balcony. It was slightly opened as my body began to relax from the refreshing wave of air. However, I realized something wasn't right about it, which made me freeze where I stood.

I never opened that door...

Shaking off the uneasiness, I decided to try and shrug off the suspicion and close it. When I did, I turned around to see the kitchen counter where the cookies were and saw that there was only seven pieces now. There was eight earlier.

"Wait a minute, I didn't even eat one yet..." I told myself as my suspiciousness started to increase after two strikes of unexplained circumstances. Then, the third strike began to rise. A sweet, unrecognizable fragrance was all over the room instead of that new room smell and the cookies fresh out of the oven. It was more like perfume than a regular air freshener used indoors. Something girls would spray on themselves. And since I don't use perfume, that can only mean one thing. At first, I wanted to believe it was my imagination, but it was proven to be real as I noticed a small glimpse of red cloth in the corner that led to my bedroom.

SHE'S HERE!

I remained calm and proceeded to head inside of the bathroom again. After shutting the door and locking it, sounds of small footsteps along with someone's shadow was seen under the door's small opening. It felt like it was coming closer as it moved to the right and disappeared. However, I knew for a fact that the girl was still there, since she was most likely hidden on the side of the bathroom entrance. I figured if she was going to spy on me, I decided to have a little fun and play off the role reversal card. Seeing the balcony from outside my tinted bathroom window, I opened it slowly and quietly as possible before making a daring jump to the railings with a forty-feet drop below. As soon as I mantled up the railings, I saw the girl much more clearly this time.

Bingo. She's still in the same spot next to the bathroom door. But what was disturbing me was the fact she was standing on my bed...with her shoes on! I pouted to myself and continued to carefully and quietly approach her from behind. With her right ear covered while her left was leaning against the wall to eavesdrop inside the bathroom, she wasn't able to detect me just yet. Then, I finally reached her as she was still unaware that I was behind her. Deep down, I tried to suppress my laughter as she tried so hard to listen to anything.

"What is he doing in there...?" She whispered.

"Probably wiping." I said next to her, making her jump in surprise. Unfortunately, her jump was high enough to hit the metallic shelf above her head, knocking her unconscious. Before she could hit the floor, I caught her in time before she would get injured even more. "Awww crap. Please don't die on me..." I mumbled the last part to myself and gulped nervously as it was clearly my fault for surprising her like that, enough for her to possibly get a small concussion due to the shelf being made of metal instead of wood.

"...~?" The girl groaned in her unconscious state while I set her down on my bed carefully.

"Sorry that I-... Oh, who am I kidding? I'll apologize to her when she gets up." I told myself as I sat on my chair and moved next to the sleeping figure to ensure no further injuries, like bleeding, were present. But it seemed like there was none whatsoever. To make sure that was the case, I went closer to the girl and moved her hair around to check deeper. At this point, I felt like some weirdo that was trying to get 'closer' to her for my own fantasy. I shook my head wildly to stop thinking that way and not encourage the awkwardness even more. When I finished checking on her, I noticed the lighting from the front open door was blocked by something. Cold sweat trickled down my neck as I knew someone was watching me do this whole thing. I looked up to see who it was, ready to witness either someone staring at me in utter disgust, or a fist ready to impact my face.

It was a long golden-haired girl with two dangerously looking gauntlets on her hands. Actually, now that I realized it, it was the same girl I saw outside the library earlier today with the other girl on my bed, and this Blake person from the library. But most of all, it was her from down the hall a few minutes ago! A small snicker was heard from her before giving me an expression even I couldn't recognize. "Am I interrupting something?"

"Not at all." I shivered nervously. "You see..."

She somewhat changed her expression to a judgmental glare as if I was found guilty, while still giving off that smirk. "Sorry. I'll come back later."

Immediately hearing that misunderstanding made my face turn red hot. She actually thought I was about to do something shameful. "Hold on! This isn't what it looks like! I swear!"

"Looks to me that IT IS what it looks like."

"Would it kill you to just hear me out?!" I begged and tried to think of how I should explain to her while she was still in that critical state. "I accidentally got her knocked off unconscious and I'm simply trying to check if she didn't hit her head too hard."

"So, what you're saying is, you 'knocked her off' already?"

"You can't seriously believe that..."

"Listen, I gotta go. I understand what happened and I'll be sure not to tell anybody. Just tell me when the baby is coming soon." She waved her hand before giving me a small wink.

"I did NOT touch her!"

All of a sudden, silence engulfed the entire room as the girl began to form a wider smile while shivering wildly as if she was about to burst out laughing. And it turns out, she did. Her laughter was loud enough that it seemed like it could've been heard from outside the balcony. Then, it suddenly came for me to realize that all this time, she was toying with me while using my actions on helping the red and black-haired girl as an advantage. My face was slowly burning red as I felt like I was about to run out to the balcony and just jump, not caring how many stories my room was. Before I would even consider myself actually doing it, I was halted when the blonde girl walked herself into my room and began to settle down with her laughing, to the level of small chuckles. Although it seemed like the jokes were over, I was still slowly recovering from all the teasing. My face was still turned away from the blonde girl as she stepped in the way from where I was looking off to.

She playfully punched my shoulder and chuckled once more. "Don't be like that~! I was just kidding around. No hard feelings, right?"

I gave a forced smile back to her and nodded. "Y-Yeah. We're all just having for a good laugh...except me."

"Here. Maybe this will cheer you up." She pressed a cold can on my cheek.

It definitely made me flinch from the cold shock. But my shock was suddenly turned into excitement when I saw that was the same soda I kept ordering from the vending machine in front of the amphitheater. It was no coincidence that she knew that vanilla cream cola was my new favorite, judging by that look she was giving me. It made me wonder if she was the one that called me out to stop using the vending machine earlier. But she knew I wouldn't say "No" to the offer. "Well...Maybe. I don't know."

"Come on, pal. I know you're thirsty." She teased while she shook the can of vanilla cream cola lightly, again.

I sighed and gave in to her offer with a pleasured smile. "Oh, what the hell. Thank you...uhh..." I gave a sign for her to ask for her name.

"Yang." She gave a charming wink. "And yeah, I drink that too. Just thought I should buy you another one after Ruby here scared you off like that. It was an accident." She explained to me before taking a seat next to this 'Ruby' girl. "Anyway, sorry that Ruby had to spy on you like that. She tends to get too curious when she sees new people. Especially when they have some pretty nice weaponry." Yang winked as she was eyeing my two Dragon Tails swords. "Made them yourself?"

I gave a nod from her question. "Took me a few years to finally perfect them to the effective swords they are today. I tend to dual-wield them, but the second sword is more of a spare, just in case I lose the other."

Yang let out a small chuckle as she introduced me to her gauntlets that looked intimidating from seeing the material, style, and the shotgun shells. "Unfortunately for me, I always prefer to fight with two of my beauties. If I lost one, it'll get on my nerves until the day I find or build a new one. Well, my dad builds them mostly." She looked away while scratching her head.

As I was examining her two weapons, my eyes started to drift off and began to scan her entire body. She's clearly not afraid to show off her raggedness yet provocative style as if she's from a biker gang. And according to her personality and my senses, she seems almost like a delinquent in a way with some sort of friendliness to everybody. The thing that threw me off when I saw her was her hair. Very long and messy golden hair. Has she ever considered cutting it short a bit? It takes a lot of work to take care of your hair, especially if it's that long and thick. But I'll admit that all of it matches her entirely. Overall, Yang did dress openly outside of her school uniform.

Although, I'll admit, she does have some nice legs though...

"Hey, buddy. My eyes are up here." Yang reminded me of her presence as I quickly looked back up to her eyes. "So, are you really gonna be a new student?"

I nodded my head in confirmation of her question. "I didn't think I was going to be seen as a new guy here. The others would've excused me as a visitor."

Yang chuckled. "Oh, come on. I know new students the moment I set my eyes on them. Plus, I have friends in special places in Beacon that can easily give me some 'intel' when it comes to on campus gossip." She gave me a small wink.

"Well, getting noticed by a handful of students in Beacon was inevitable as soon as they saw me here." I blushed as what I said was a clear sign that I didn't want any sort of attention at all. My arrival already caught many students to wonder who I was because of Professor Isaac dropping me off unsupervised, which I still felt betrayed about.

"You wanna explain why you're being held in the staff dorms instead of at the student dorms?"

"Sorry. Even I don't know why I was put in this room." I scratched my neck sheepishly while looking away. "All I know is that it's pretty convenient for Professor Goodwitch, since she will be watching over me throughout my time here."

Upon hearing that surname, Yang gave me a grieving expression while clasping her hands together like she was about to pray. "Professor Goodwitch is your supervisor?"

"Oi! What's with that face? Is it really that bad?" I shivered by the thought that she knew something I didn't about her.

*Ring! Ring! Ring!*

Her reply was interrupted when my scroll went off, receiving an incoming call with a phone number that my device didn't recognize. But I did, seeing the country calling code and the exact numbers I remembered from my old scroll. My mom was calling on my new device for the first time as I looked at Yang and told her to hang on a moment. I got off my bed and headed to the bathroom where I could get my privacy on the phone.

I pressed the "Accept Call" button and greeted normally with our lines connected. "Mom?"

"Good afternoon, my big boy." My mom answered back cheerfully. "Well, good evening, in your case." She added, realizing the time difference between the mainland of the Drahën Empire and Vale Kingdom. "How is your first day of Beacon going so far?"

"I didn't even start class yet. Throughout the weekend, Professor Ozpin told me to just explore the place while setting up my room before the weekdays of classes begin."

"That's good. It's always a great start to know the halls and rooms of Beacon a little bit more than getting lost so easily."

My body leaned over the sink as I let out a nervous sigh, staring at myself at the mirror. "Mom, do I really need to be here?"

"Do you not like it there?"

"I like it so far. But...you and dad still haven't given me an answer regarding my stay in Beacon."

"Wyvern, as much as I want to tell you, Ostanes was really clear that this was a part of your training and I have to keep my promise to remain silent, even in his death. Please understand that this is for the sake of your future." She replied to me with the same answer as before, when I was about to get on my flight to Vale. "I promise that it won't cause any harm. I would've told you, otherwise."

Although I was still a bit annoyed by the secrets they have to keep from me, I completely understand that this was a part training. Not knowing the details, my prediction was this was all about myself, living independently in a foreign kingdom I know nothing about. Hell, I don't even know the tradition on how things go here. The only ways I could learn about them is asking my professors and using the internet. However, maybe I can get some help from Yang. I may have just met her a minute ago, but now is my chance to ask her any questions about anything for this academy. However, something tells me that she isn't really the one to have all the answers. She seems more like a delinquent than a dedicated student that doesn't really follow the rules, nor memorize the entire academy. But it's worth a shot. Plus, maybe Ruby can give me a hand once she wakes up.

"Guess I should start making friends."

"Absolutely. Might as well open up to your fellow classmates and the other students. The semester has already started before you arrived and they will most likely know where and how things work." My mom encouraged me. "Just stick to their default language. I doubt any of them know Drahënese."

"You don't say..." I chuckled. "It would be a bit of a shocker if some of them did."

"Well, have you met anybody so far, besides your Professors?"

"A few. But..." I peeked out the door to see Yang patting Ruby's forehead, where she was struck. "We didn't really have a long conversation..." I lied.

"Uh-huh..." She responded suspiciously.

Yang suddenly made eye contact with me and flinched as she didn't expect me to peek through the door. She gave me a smirk and shook her head slowly. "Sorry to disappoint. I wasn't changing or anything."

"That's not what I was looking for!" I blushed while covering the line to prevent my mom from hearing anything she was saying.

"But since you're in there, do you mind getting a warm towel for Ruby?"

With a nod, I closed the door again and uncovered the line while turning on the sink and grabbing a small towelette, neatly folded in the cabinet. I soaked it with warm water; not too hot nor too cold as I squeezed the excess amounts of water to prevent dripping.

"Everything okay?" My mom asked.

"I'll call you back, mom. Just hold on a sec." I told her as I put the scroll in my pocket before walking out of the bathroom. "Is she awake?" I asked while coming back with a warm towelette Yang requested.

Yang shook her head in response to my question as she still sat next to the sleeping figure of her sister while I kneeled on the floor. "Nope. Don't worry. I can wake her up somehow."

"So, about Ruby - friend of yours?" I asked.

Yang smiled happily and patted the unconscious figure's forehead. "Friends? Well, to be honest, we're more than just friends. We're both dating."

"WHAT?!" Ruby immediately woke up after hearing what Yang just said. "No, we're not!"

"There we go. Told you I could wake her up." Yang started to burst out laughing.

I stared at her in surprise and began to realize something about her state of unconsciousness earlier. "Hold on a second, did you just pretend that you were unconscious while eavesdropping, again?"

Ruby blushed hard as her face was almost the same color as her cape. "Alright, alright. You got me. But just hear me out, I literally got caught snooping around here and I was trying to prepare myself on how I should explain why I am here."

I folded my arms and gave a teasing smirk. "Well, now that you're awake, would you like to tell me now?"

She let out a sigh, knowing that trying to avoid the subject is futile as me and Yang were ready to put her back on track if she did. For a few seconds of silence, she began to explain her reasons. "At first, it started off by those weapons you have. I mean, I'm a helpless dork when it comes to weaponry whenever I see an awesome looking one. Second, I heard some parts of the conversation you were having with Professor Isaac, Goodwitch, and Ozpin. I know it's none of my business, and you're free not to talk about it if you're uncomfortable, but it just made me curious."

My heart dropped when she mentioned about the conversation. Not only because she was there to listen without me knowing about her presence, but she must know that something is wrong with me because of Professor Goodwitch's explanation to Professor Isaac about my mental records. The biggest fear right now is she might see me as a threat, pity me, or just think I'm a freak. Regardless of what she thinks, I had to swallow any words of denial, trying to claim that I'm 100% stable. But I'm not.

"But most of all, I just thought you needed someone to help you out." Ruby gave a sweet and welcoming smile, showing how genuinely honest she meant. "I know, it's hard and kind of awkward to befriend a stranger you just met, but that's how friends first meet, right?"

"Do you always spy on people you try to befriend?" I teased her playfully.

"Of course not!" She shook her head quickly. "Truth be told, I was still waiting for a perfect chance to introduce myself. But I chickened out and was too late when you walked inside your room."

"And you trespassed."

"For that, I'm sorry. I sometimes don't think straight." She chuckled at herself.

I let out a chuckle to let her know the feelings were mutual. "If you were being cautious, I can understand that. I'm technically a complete stranger here."

"As I said earlier, I was just trying to meet new people. Plus, maybe I can give you a hand around here so you can get used to Beacon. It was tough for all of us to know the basics of living here. But with my experience, I can make sure you won't struggle as much as I did on my first week. It's the least I can do to help out someone that might need it."

At this moment, I couldn't help but feel flattered by how nice Ruby was. It felt like a personal victory of gaining one friend on the first day when I arrived. To be frank, I was expecting to be completely ignored by the students here. My plan was to keep my head under the radar while attending classes and staying in my room throughout most of the day after them. But now, this girl had the courage to come up to me and ask if it was alright to befriend her. Sometimes, I wish I had that sort of strong suit.

"Let's start off with the basics." I smiled warmly and sat on my chair. "Do you know my name already?"

"Yup. Wyvern Akua Kumawaka." She replied, almost having her tongue twisted by saying my full name. "Foreign student from the Drahën Empire, right?"

"Well now, you've sure done your homework."

"Drahën Empire?" Yang whistled as she was familiar with the name. "I didn't expect you to come from the Northwest. My first guess was you were from Atlas or somewhere along the high north."

I was a little bit bitter when she mentioned Atlas. "Not a big fan of that place, to be honest."

"Why?"

"It's complicated. Sorry."

Ruby continued the introduction as she was just a second away from saying her name before realizing something. "Well, you know who I am. And who she is." She pointed at the golden blonde.

"Ruby and Yang. Two girls hopelessly in love with each other and must overcome the obstacles of life to not interfere with their inseparable connection~!" I joked about Yang's method of waking Ruby up. Due to this, Yang snickered while Ruby gave an opposite reaction by blushing and giving me an unimpressed glare. "Relax. I was kidding."

"Yeah, I was just about to say." Ruby rolled her eyes from the dumb joke. "Believe it or not, we're sisters."

Sisters? Huh. They both seemed different from each other, which made me think they came from either different mothers or different fathers. I wasn't sure yet, since I didn't want to ask them anything personal to avoid sounding straightforwardly rude.

Yang gave a small nod and wrapped her arm around Ruby's shoulder while holding her closely, which Ruby found really unpleasantly embarrassing. "Well, it's a good thing you and I already met with my sister. Looks like she doesn't have to worry about me anymore for introductions."

"Speaking of which, why were you in the building?" Ruby reminded me about Yang coincidentally arriving at the front door when she was feigning her "unconscious".

"Yeah..." I narrowed my eyes at Yang, suspiciously. "I think I do recall spotting you from afar, down the hallway. This isn't the students dormitory building either."

"Eh? What are you talking? That wasn't me." Yang grinned widely, obviously trying to hide any facial expression details of lying.

Her sister just gave the most unimpressed look as if she was already used to how Yang works. Not a surprise, since they are siblings. "You were spying on him too, weren't you?"

For a moment, I looked at my scroll that had that mysterious text message from "I", stating that he/she knew I had some stalkers on my tail after leaving the library. Stalkers. Not stalker. Stalkers, claiming that I had more than one person following my tracks. Looks like Yang was the second one. It shook me a bit because I wasn't aware of her presence unlike Ruby. Although, my focus on Ruby might be the reason why I had no time to notice Yang too. Or she's better at spying on others.

She shook her head in response while her cheeks somewhat turned pink. "No. I was just keeping an eye on you from a safe di-"

Ruby facepalmed as this was exactly what she had to be corrected of from Blake and the librarian. "That's considered spying. You should know that they are both the same."

"Well, I sure am popular." I mumbled sarcastically. "But why spy on me too?"

Before Yang was able to respond to me respectively, Ruby interrupted the sentence and gave a pretty devilish smile towards Yang, then at me, as if she had a plan. "Yang did admit that you were cute. So maybe she wanted to get to know you more because of that?"

Deciding to play along as well, I pretended to act shocked and stare at Yang in disbelief. "Cute?"

"Whoa, whoa! Let me just stop you right there!" Yang shook her hands in denial as her cheeks grew darker in red. "I never said that. Really."

Liar. I still remember the time she called me cute when I ran out of the library. "I'm flattered by your compliment, Yang. But are you sure that those words are true towards myself?"

"Well... hahaha! ... I just..." She bit her lip nervously as she knew she was stuck with two options: Lie, or tell the truth.

Ruby giggled, knowing I was playing along too. "Yang~. Now's your chance to make a move too~."

"Ruby..." She glared.

"No. Allow me to make the next move. Gentlemen were supposed to do it first. So, let me repay you for it." I went up closer to where she was.

"Do what?" Yang asked suspiciously while her cheeks were flushed in a small shade of red.

"Close your eyes~."

Yang chuckled and complied, which surprised me that she would actually do something that easily towards me. "Alright. I'll play along, tough guy. Bring it."

Then her lips came into contact with my...soda can. She opened one eye and saw me giving her that teasing expression. I still gave off that teasing smile and lifted the can up lightly for her to sip some. "You can have the rest of it."

*BONK!*

In the end, I ended up with a sore forehead as I was whacked hard enough to feel as if my brain was dislocated, or my skull was fractured. I covered it painfully as Yang gave me an annoyed expression that made me somewhat regretful for my teasing. I was just trying to have fun. But still, I really shouldn't be playing with her feelings like that. Ruby didn't seem to mind it as she was still snickering like a little child.

"I'll get you for this, jerk." Yang huffed and chugged down the soda, nonetheless.

"Awww. You two really did look cute together." Ruby teased.

"Jeez. Why did you have to go and drop that down on me?" Yang folded her arms and pouted.

"Because you deserved it for ratting me out like that." Ruby pouted back and looked away.

"Oh? Says the girl that tattletales on dad whenever I try to go out for drinks."

"While underage, mind you."

"That didn't stop you from trying to try out his secret stash back then."

"For the last time, I thought those were soda cans..."

"Liar~."

"You both are starting to argue like a couple." I commented and started to form a curious looking smile. "Are you sure you two aren't dating?"

"We are NOT DATING!" They both shouted at the same time towards me, twice the volume I was expecting.

I flinched from their outburst. "I was kidding..." I told them while slightly shaken. My hand landed on the wet towelette that was no longer warm, which made me remember Ruby might have needed it earlier for her head. "Oh right, I forgot about this. Does she still need it?" I asked Yang while I was about to head back inside the bathroom to soak it in new hot water.

"Nah. Ruby's already awake. It's not really needed anymore."

"What exactly were you planning to do with it...?"

"Waterboard her."

Ruby gasped loudly after hearing that kind of answer from her. "I'm gonna pretend I didn't hear that..." She scooted further away from her seat.

"Please tell me both your arguments don't always end up making inhumane methods like this..." I sighed.

She tilted her head and chuckled at my reaction to her answer. "Wow. Did the joke seriously pass over your head?"

"It's kind of hard to tell whether you're being honest, or joking around."

"I'll take that as a compliment. It means I can lie my way pass the professors easily." Yang finally let out a laugh and ruffled my hair.

I rolled my eyes and chuckled back from her answer. "Don't expect to get passed them that easily. I'm sure they have more sharp eyes and ears than your regular instructors."

"Why? Have you tried it with them?"

"No. Even if I attempted to, I would fail. I'm not really good at lying to others. My mom especially knows about my disadvantage on that."

"You got that right." A faint voice said after I completed my sentence.

My heart suddenly dropped as it felt like I was letting out cold sweat on my head as soon as I heard that voice, coming from my scroll phone. Ruby and Yang stayed silent as soon as they heard it too and watched as I reached for my pocket to realize my scroll was still on the line with my mom! There was no doubt in my mind that she was able to hear a fraction of everything me, Yang and Ruby were talking about.

"You gotta be kidding me!" I bit my lip frustratingly.

"Wyvern~?"

My hand gripped the scroll tightly as I sheepishly put the phone next to my ear. "Yes, mom...?"

"Already inviting girls to your room, eh?"

"What girls? There's nobody in here. It was just that the T.V was on." I forcefully smiled to keep my cool in front of Ruby and Yang, but was clearly failing when Yang was grinning this whole time.

"Please, don't play this game. You just admitted that lying isn't really your strong suit, ever since you were a little boy." She chuckled at my attempt. "I clearly heard two girls talking inside of your room. Has my son already considered getting two girlfriends instead of one?"

My face felt like it was steaming as soon as I heard my mom assume they were in a relationship with me. "Since when did I confirm I'm dating them?!" I blushed.

"I don't need any confirmation from you. A mother can easily know when her child is feeling the urge to find love. Admit it."

"I am not!"

She let out a small, playful whine because of my denial. Except it was true that those two aren't involved in me. "Remember what I told you: Denial is the first stage of Love, Wyvern."

"A part of that may definitely be true. But it's different for me. I have no intimate relationships and I have no reason to have one here in Beacon."

"That's disappointing. So, I packed you a box of condoms for nothing?"

"What the-?! You WHAT?!" I looked at my bag and began to search through it, easily seeing the box of them just off the top of my clothes. "WHY THE HELL DID YOU PACK CONDOMS?!"

"Wyvy, you'll never know when you might need them once you find yourself a girlfriend. Or boyfriend. It doesn't matter to me as long as you play it safe when approaching them...and 'encroaching' them." She told me with a forced straight voice, clearly trying to hold back laughter.

"I never needed those condoms."

"Well then, I'm impressed. It takes courage to prefer unprotected sex already."

"THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT!" I shielded my face from pure embarrassment. "Who knows what airport security thought when they saw that..."

"If they knew you were heading to Beacon, I suppose they'll think you're hunting for women instead of monsters."

"Mom," I huffed, "please. Stop..."

My mom giggled once again from my begging. "Okay, fine. I apologize for not taking this matter seriously, but sometimes I need to have fun too." She said while slowly changing to a much more serious tone. "Back to the subject, I've taken the liberty of adding some additional funds to your account while you're there. Converted from Xens into Liens, of course. You know the drill, always buy essential items like hygienic products, medicine, convenient foods and drinks, and...you know the rest."

"Actually, Professor Goodwitch already got that covered as soon as I got here."

She let out more giggles when she heard that. "Aww~! I knew she had a motherly side to her."

"She's more intimidating than motherly..." I mumbled when I remembered Professor Goodwitch's terrifying aura and that riding crop she held.

"Trust me, she's definitely up for the job by taking care of you. Just don't get on her bad side." She added. In the background of the call, I could hear my father's inaudible voice speak to my mom directly as she replied back to him while keeping the receiver covered. I could tell it was covered because her voice was muffled as well. "As much as I have more to tell you, I have to go now. Your father and I have some important business to do up north. Take care of yourself out there, Wyvy. Kiss, kiss~!"

"Thanks, mom. I love you." I told her before hanging up. "I swear, that woman sometimes..."

"Are you okay?" Ruby asked as her and Yang were desperately trying not to laugh after hearing the conversation between me and my mom.

"So, about that first move earlier, you still up for those condoms?" She finally exploded out laughing, much to my embarrassment already at maximum level.

My face was now burning red when she was now unable to cover up her laughter. "Haven't you laughed at me enough for tonight?" I frowned.

"It's not that. I just find it amusing and cute on how much you're close with your mom." She furrowed her eyebrows while giving off a light smile as if she was trying to hide her other emotions upon mentioning that. "Wish me and my mom were like that..." She sighed and laid down on the bed.

"She's not with you anymore...?" I asked, but suddenly regret it as I didn't want to offend Yang so easily. Family complications does cause some trouble in many people, and it probably none of my business. "Sorry."

"No, no. Don't worry about it." She waved her hand. "She just wanted to go her own way after I was born. Probably didn't want to be a mother and just left me with my dad. For my dad, he may be a pain sometimes, but it takes a lot of nerve to raise me and my sister by himself. And for that, we're at least thankful he still took care of us after both our own mothers had to pass..."

Ruby frowned when the conversation was reaching up to this part, which made me not want to bring anything else up about their family. So, I changed the subject.

"Well, you girls grew up to be pretty strong. Here you two are, attending Beacon and ready to try and become Huntresses, the best of the best combatants towards the enemy everyone fears." I tried to heighten up their spirits, which did somewhat work its way. "Maybe, both of you will be remembered for something honorable, if that's your intention of becoming Huntresses. Me, I'm here for some...special training."

Yang tilted her head curiously; I knew she was going to ask the question I was thinking. "But what kind of special training?"

"Hell if I know." I shrugged and began to think about how I was going to explain myself in front of them. "First off, since you two were eavesdropping me since then, were you present somewhere when I was having a word with Professor Ozpin, Goodwitch, and Isaac?"

"Yes." They both answered straightforwardly.

I stared at both of them and awkwardly cleared my throat. "Seriously? Never mind. Like what Professor Goodwitch stated, I'm mentally unstable. Something is wrong with me and...let's just say I have no idea what it is and it's been bothering me ever since."

"Since when?" Ruby asked while having a seat on my chair.

My eyes closed as I began to think about the past events of how I developed and took notice on my instability. "When I was a kid. No, even younger than that. When I was four years old."

"That's kind of like in your toddler days then..."

"Exactly." I clenched my fists tightly as I was now at the level of uncomfortableness to stop talking about this. "I'm not going to sugarcoat it. Yes, I can be seen as a potential threat by others who don't know me, but I can still contain myself. If you're being serious about being friends, don't you both think it's gonna be too risky?"

Yang chuckled and patted my head hard enough to make it feel like I was getting whacked instead of patted. "The reason why I'm letting you under our wing is because you seem like a cool guy so far. But I'm still not forgiving you for that prank." She pouted.

"Fair enough." I blushed a bit from that move, which was nothing to gloat about.

"And the reason why I'm befriending you," Ruby stood up and folded her arms behind her back and smiled sweetly, "just thought I would get to know people here before graduating in the future. Plus, like I said, I wanted to give you a hand on your first day of Beacon. Can't have you going into the wrong classrooms and talking to the wrong people. Cardin, especially..."

"Even though it was my weapons that mainly caught your attention too, didn't it?"

"Yes~!" She admitted wholeheartedly.

My smile was now twice as bigger as it was a few seconds ago. I must look extremely stupid right now, but I didn't care. All that mattered was that I have befriended two students already and they are willing to give me a hand throughout the days, weeks, months, and years I will be spending my time in Beacon. "I'll be sure to help you out whenever you need it."

Ruby giggled and looked around the studio and gave a smirk when she stared at the kitchen. "Does that mean you can cook our meals too? Cafeteria food is getting pretty old now." She was clearly joking on the first sentence, but not the second one.

Regardless, I nodded my head to offer the aid she and her sister weren't expecting. "I'm no expert, but sure. What else are friends for?" I shrugged.

"Well, there is a chance that Yang will be more than just your friend." Ruby shrugged her eyebrows teasingly.

Yang blushed hard and punched Ruby's shoulder, with her letting out a cute yelp. "Pfft. As if. Yes, I called him cute, but that still doesn't mean we'll end up getting together."

"So, you admit it. It really was true." I added fuel to the fire as she rolled her eyes.

"Don't flatter yourself, meat."

The sound of a hard knock came from the door, but it creaked open as if it wasn't closed all the way when Yang was walking in a while ago. Knowing that this was the staff dorm building, I felt my heart drop in fear due to having Ruby and Yang inside my private dorm, which would no doubt have many questions directed towards me on why they were present. With no other option but to see who it was, I prayed it would be Professor Isaac due to his friendly demeanor and his chance of understanding the situation whenever I explained it. Unfortunately, it was someone else I was precisely afraid of to come in to see me and the girls in the same dorm.

It was Professor Goodwitch. Before she was able to ask, for what I assume, was the noise we were making, she spotted Ruby and Yang seated on the bed while I was standing in front of them. Though this kind of sight could be very misrepresented, it seemed to reach in to that conclusions as Professor Goodwitch gave me an unreadable expression as soon as she caught sight of the condom box my mom packed out of pure humor. With that, I was seconds away from getting shamed in front of Ruby and Yang over a misunderstanding people would never want to go through. Especially guys!

"Wyvern Akua Kumawaka." Goodwitch called me by my full name, which is never a good sign in general. "What is the meaning of this? You have two first-year girls in your private dorm and I see a box of condoms near your bag."

I gave a very uneasy smile as I knew that riding crop had my pain and misery all over it. "Wait, I wasn't going to use that..."

"Unprotected intercourse, I see?" Her glare sharpened much more harshly than a knife.

"NO!" I shook my head hard. "I know you've probably heard many students say this before, but this is a HUGE misunderstanding!"

"May I remind you that intimately shameful activities are greatly forbidden on campus?"

"Does that mean we can do it off campus?" Yang smirked.

"YANG/SIS!" Me and Ruby growled.

"Oh my god, you two. Take a joke." Yang pouted by our tone while leaning back on my bed.

In this situation, jokes were easily thrown out the window as my so-called supervisor just walked in herself and shut the door, already making my heart drop from the horrors I would be subjected to.

Goodwitch approached me closer and folded her arms, possibly ready to wreak havoc on me using that riding crop of hers, which Professor Isaac mentioned that was notoriously painful to get hit with. "Explain yourself, Mr. Kumawaka."

"End my suffering..."
