CHAPTER FIFTY-NINE: WHITE LEGACY

"Who the hell is he?! My home! He destroyed my home!" Michello shouted before glancing at Fenris. "Wait, Seth?"

"Long time no see, old man. It's been a while since you got booted off of the Council." Fenris said.

"Who is that?" Wendy questioned.

"And how do you know him?" Zack asked.

"That's Seth, one of the current Council members. What are you doing, Seth?" Michello questioned.

"I thought all of the Council members were murdered?" Lucy asked.

"Do I look dead to you? And stop referring to me as that atrocious human alias." Fenris scoffed. "Let me formally introduce myself. I'm Fenris, one of the Ten Demon Gates of Tartaros."

Everyone looked shocked. "They're after you! Let's get away!" Lucy said.

"You don't have to tell me that!" Michello stated.

"It'll be okay if we just leave this to Natsu-san and Akame-san!" Wendy informed.

"Hey!"

Jackal starts to move his arms as Fenris took a few steps back. The wind swept through everyone's hair and clothes. Multiple explosions went off in the town, taking the citizens by surprise.

"What the...?!"

"A sudden explosion!"

"The building exploded! We have to escape!"

"Why?! The town has nothing to do with this!" Lucy exclaimed.

"Bastard!" Natsu seethed.

"You're getting innocent people involved in this? You really are scum." Akame claimed.

"We've been called worse." Fenris stated.

Natsu leaped into the air, charging forward at Jackal. "Explode!" Jackal shouted, sending a fireball his way.

"Natsu!" Lucy called out.

"Direct hit!" Michello exclaimed.

"It's okay. Heat and explosive types of Magic don't work on Natsu!" Happy reminded.

"Idiot. That's not going to work." Fenris sighed.

"And why not?" Jackal questioned.

"That's why." Fenris answered, pointing his index finger at Natsu who was eating his fireball.

"What is he?! Eating my explosion..."

Natsu sent a flaming punch at Jackal's face while Akame swung his leg down at Fenris. They sent them both crashing to the ground as the two Dragon Slayers kept attacking Jackal and Fenris sending them both into the air.

"Fire Dragon's Iron Fist!"

"Blood Dragon's Raging Fist!"

Akame swung his leg at Fenris's stomach while Natsu swung his leg at Jackal's, both of their legs being covered in their respective elements.

"Way to go, Natsu!" Happy cheered.

"And Akame!" Chii added.

"They're both strong!" Michelia exclaimed.

Michello's legs were trembling. "This is the first time I've seen a Fairy Tail and Twilight Phoenix wizard in battle up close, but they're both this powerful?!" He thinks to himself as Jackal and Fenris skidded on the ground.

"You're amusing!" Jackal claimed.

"But you know, there's one thing we should tell you..." Fenris started to say.

"Fire Dragon's..."

"Blood Dragon's..."

"...Iron Fist!"

"...Raging Fist!"

"Wait!" Jackal shouted.

Both Jackal and Fenris crashed on the ground. "I'm not even close to bein' done!" Natsu stated.

"And you killed all of the Council members? What a joke!" Akame said as Natsu punched Jackal repeatedly and Akame sent Fenris flying through the air again.

"Natsu-san! Akame-san!" Michelia said in shock.

"Amazing!" Michello commented.

"Natsu-san, I think that's..." Wendy started to say.

"He goes overboard." Lucy said.

"Akame does, too..." Zack sighed as he watched Akame's battle with Fenris.

"And those guys were about to say something." Lucy added.

"Something just hit me. We should've asked where their hideout was." Akame told Natsu.

"Oh, that's right." Natsu agreed.

"That and their goals." Carla said.

"Whoops." Akame commented.

"If... If they're after Face, then we're all in trouble! The white legacy that hardly anyone even on the Council knew about... How did they find out about Face?! No, more importantly, I need to go underground..." Michello thought. "I'll let you people take care of them!"

"Huh?" Lucy questioned.

"I... I-I'll see if the other former members are safe!" Michello stated.

"Grandpa?!" Michelia exclaimed.

"Michelia, you come, too! Right now!" Michello instructed.

"Why are you suddenly in a hurry?" Wendy asked.

"Have you remembered something?" Lucy questioned.

"No! No! I don't know anything!" Michello replied.

"If you know anything, tell us, Grandpa." Natsu ordered.

"Something tells me you're hiding information from us." Akame added as Michello flinched.

"I don't know anything!" Michello denied.

"Is that true?" Jackal asked as he sat up. "If you share something of worth, I may not kill you. And Fenris, how long are you going to lay there?"

"Shut up." Fenris mumbled, sitting up as well.

"Natsu and Akame's attacks weren't effective?!" Lucy questioned.

"How tough are they?!" Chii exclaimed in shock.

"I don't know anything! Try somebody else!" Michello denied once again. "Honestly, I don't know anything!"

"Is that right? Then I'll kill you, after all." Jackal grinned.

"Hey! You people! They got up! Hurry up and beat them! Idiot!" Michello ordered.

"This guy..." Natsu spoke in irritation.

Suddenly, Akame collapsed to his knees, getting everyone's attention. "Akame!" Zack shouted in concern as Akame was breathing heavily.

Jackal and Fenris both stood up. "Would you look at that... It seems my Virus is already going into effect, Jackal." Fenris spoke up as Jackal hummed.

"...Virus?" Zack repeated.

"You two should really listen when someone wants to tell you something." Fenris claimed.

"Huh?"

"Natsu! Your hands!" Lucy called out.

Natsu's hands and legs began to glow yellow. "What the...?!"

"My curse is the power to turn anything I touch into an explosive." Jackal explained.

"My curse works similar, in a way. Except it kills you from the inside. Painful, isn't it?" Fenris added.

"How many times did you two touch us?" Jackal questioned.

"Natsu!" Happy yelled.

"Stay back! Everyone move away from me!" Natsu screamed.

"But..."

"Natsu-san!"

"Akame!"

"Hurry!" Natsu ordered as Zack, Lucy, Wendy, Happy, Carla, and Jim moved away while Chii quickly grabbed Akame to move him away from Natsu before he finally exploded.

"Natsu!" Happy shouted.

"Lucy! Wendy!" Zack exclaimed, grabbing onto the two girls.

Jackal laughed hysterically. "Natsu-san!" Wendy called out.

"Oh, no..." Lucy muttered.

"Natsu!" Zack exclaimed as Natsu collapsed to the ground, seemingly knocked out.

"What are you doing?! You're all bark and no bite! It's pathetic!" Michello scolded.

"Grandpa!"

"What's this? Your body's still intact. That's incredible!" Jackal commented. "You're not a fireball for nothing!"

"Natsu! Pull yourself together!" Happy said.

"He's unconscious." Carla pointed out.

"Akame's not doing too well, either." Chii informed as Akame was laying on the ground, rapidly breathing.

"Damn it!" Zack cursed as he clenched his jaw while Lucy gritted her teeth.

"Well, I'm sure he won't be able to move for a while." Jackal claimed as Michello looked nervous.

"It's over... They're gonna kill me!" Michello sobbed out.

"Give me information and I'll only kill your granddaughter." Jackal said, walking forward. "I'm a nice guy, see."

"You're a monster!" Lucy exclaimed.

Michello quickly rushed off. "Michello-san!" Lucy called out.

"Grandpa!" Michelia shouted.

"You're not going anywhere!" Jackal exclaimed as him and Fenris chased after Michello.

"Wendy! Zack!" Lucy yelled.

"Right!"

"Got it!"

"Be careful not to touch them!" Happy reminded.

"I know!" Lucy replied.

"Sky Dragon's Roar!"

Wendy's breath attack aimed at Jackal as he placed his hand down and yellow light appeared followed by an explosion.

"He's using a blast to disperse my roar!" Wendy noticed.

"An attack like that doesn't do diddly!" Jackal claimed.

"Get away from him, Wendy! If he touches you, you'll explode!" Carla warned.

Zack created a blue ball of energy in his hand. "Then how about this? Azure Dragon's Flash Bomb!" He called out, throwing it at Jackal and Fenris and throwing another blue energy ball soon after, causing an explosion.

"I told you it won't work!" Jackal claimed, using his explosion to counter it. "And now I'm going to blow you all away!"

Jackal laughed as Wendy, Zack, and Lucy all gritted their teeth.

Michello continued running. "This is bad! This is really bad! If they are after Face, the world... the world will..." His thoughts soon trailed off.

"Gate of the Scorpion, I open thee!" Lucy raised Scorpio's gate key in the air as a door chimed. She swiped the key down. "Scorpio!"

Scorpio soon appeared from the gate. "We are!"

"A Celestial Spirit... Girl, you've got an interesting talent there." Jackal complimented, actually impressed.

"Let's see how interesting you find it after getting walloped by a scorpion attack!" Scorpio claimed. "Sand Buster!"

Jackal created another explosion, causing Lucy and Scorpio to get thrown back. Zack covered his eyes so sand wouldn't get in them.

"There's sand in my eyes!" Carla complained.

"The inside of my mouth is crunchy!" Wendy added.

"Then how about a volley of attacks?! Sand Buster!" Scorpio called out again, creating three sand tornadoes.

"It makes no difference!" Jackal claimed as the sand scattered.

"Then we won't be able to see anything!" Zack informed.

"Scorpio, that's enough! You can go back for now!" Lucy stated.

"We are!" Scorpio vanished back to the celestial spirit world.

"Now you understand that it doesn't matter what you do, yes?" Jackal questioned.

"He uses explosive blasts to guard against all forms of Magic!" Happy exclaimed.

"That's powerful Magic!" Carla said.

"Will you stop calling our Curse power Magic? It's quite insulting." Fenris scoffed, making Jackal chuckle in amusement.

"Huh?"

"That reminds me of one more thing I wanted to tell you. The members of Tartaros don't use Magic. We use Curses!" Jackal revealed.

"Curses?!" Lucy repeated.

"Power that's ranked above Magic! Mere wizards can't beat us!" Fenris grinned as Jackal moved his arms around once more.

"Explosive Helix!" Jackal shouted.

Another explosion occurred, causing Lucy, Wendy, and Zack to crash to the ground and their clothing tattered.

"Lucy!"

"Wendy!"

"Zack!"

Happy, Carla, and Jim called out their names in worry. "Well, bye-bye! Let's move, Fenris!" Jackal said as him and Fenris were off to find Michello.

"Are you okay?" Michelia asked in worry. "This is my grandfather's fault..."

"No! We're fighting for the sake of pride! Wendy! Please help Natsu!" Lucy said.

"Chii, Jim, watch over Akame! Lucy and I'll go after those two!" Zack instructed as him and Lucy stood up and chased after the two demons.

"Right!" Wendy agreed.

"Leave this to us!" Jim added.

"What was that explosion before?"

"I don't know. Seems like nobody know what caused it. They were casualties all over the place. Maybe we should go help them."

"They're gonna kill me! Somebody, help!" Michello shouted.

"What the...?! I've never seen that old man before."

"'Help me...' Does he have something to do with that explosion?"

"Hey, you! Find me a place to hide!" Michello ordered.

"W-What's your problem...?"

"Somebody's trying to kill me!" Michello replied. "I'm a former member of the Magic Council! I've protected your lives all this time! Now it's your turn to protect me!"

"Found you, old man." Jackal said as Fenris was next to him. Michello flinched.

"Don't! It has nothing to do with me! I don't know anything!" Michello claimed, jumping into a river. "I just want to live in peace with my granddaughter!"

"Who's the one that ran off for dear life, leaving his granddaughter behind? This is why I can't stand humans. You're all nothing but greedy creatures who only care about themselves." Fenris insulted, making Jackal chuckle.

Lucy and Zack continued running as Lucy pulled out a key.

"Gate..."

"Azure Dragon's..."

"Uh-oh. I wouldn't move if I were you." Jackal stated as a yellow circle was underneath Lucy while a purple circle was underneath Zack.

"What is this?!" Lucy questioned.

"The moment you step off of a cursed mine... Boom." Jackal responded.

"Step out of that circle and you'll be in a world of pain. You don't want to end up like your friend, do you?" Fenris taunted, making Zack clench his jaw as the onlookers stared at them.

"What's all the fuss?"

"Wizards are fighting."

"It's dangerous here, everyone! Get away!" Zack ordered.

"Huh? I've seen that guy before."

"He defeated Raven Tail singlehandedly during the Grand Magic Games."

"A lot of humans are here... I just thought of something amusing." Jackal mumbled.

Fenris smirked. "Wanna give them a show, Jackal?"

"You've read my mind, Fenris."

Jackal captured Michello in a sphere of yellow light. "Don't! Leave me alone!" Michello shouted.

Fenris snapped his fingers as a purple sphere surrounded a woman.

"What is this?!"

"One explosion and one being in pain far than they can handle!" Fenris laughed as the woman clenched her stomach.

"Stop this!" Michello ordered as they citizens ran away in terror.

"They should stay to watch a fun show that displays human ugliness." Jackal stated. "We're only going to detonate only one. Choose which one. The other, we'll set free."

Lucy and Zack both looked at him. "Which one will be saved and which will die? He's telling you to decide." Fenris elaborated as Lucy and Zack widened their eyes on horror.

"Natsu! Come on, wake up!" Happy tried to shake Natsu awake.

"He really took a beating!" Carla claimed.

"I'll use Healing Magic!" Wendy stated, pushing her hands forward as a green glow appeared from them.

"Wendy, what do you think?" Happy asked.

"Don't overtax yourself. If you use too much power, you'll collapse, too." Carla reminded.

"I can't let that happen! Not when Lucy-san and Zack-san are fighting on their own!" Wendy claimed.

"Pull yourself together, Akame!" Chii called out as Akame continued to breath heavily.

"Zack could really use your help!" Jim added.

"Please, help me! I'm pregnant!" The woman pleaded.

Zack's ears perked up. "She's not lying. I can hear a heartbeat." He informed Lucy.

"You came to protect me, remember?! Help me!" Michello shouted.

"S-Stop it!" Lucy begged.

"What's the point of this?" Zack asked.

"There's no point. Humans are just toys." Jackal answered.

"Toys?!" Lucy quoted.

Fenris laughed. "Not to mention, it's fun!" He added.

"Fun? You call playing with human lives fun?! Face us, fair and square..." Zack started to say.

"You have ten seconds. Hurry up and choose." Jackal interrupted.

"We can't!" Lucy exclaimed as tears fell down the woman's face.

"Why...? Why is this happening to me?"

"What is there to ponder over?! I'm a former member of the Council! My life is much more important!" Michello stated.

Lucy and Zack tried to move forward. "Uh-oh... If you move, you'll be the one who goes boom!" Jackal said.

"You'll be the one who'll be in pain if you step out of that circle." Fenris reminded Zack, pointing at him.

"And if that happens, both of them will detonate, too." Jackal informed as he laughed.

"It's okay... It's okay. Mama is with you..." The woman spoke, holding her stomach. Zack gritted his teeth.

"Save me! Me! Which of us has done more good for this world?! There's nothing to even think about!" Michello exclaimed, making Lucy shut her eyes tightly.

"So... Which life do you choose, Fairy Tail, Twilight Phoenix?!" Jackal asked.

"Your..."

"...life!"

Natsu and Akame charged forward, punching Jackal and Fenris straight in the face, causing both of them to go flying.

"Natsu!" Lucy shouted.

"Akame!" Zack spoke in relief.

"Are you all right, Lucy-san, Zack-san?!" Wendy questioned as her, Happy, Carla, Chii, and Jim joined them.

"Thank goodness we made it in time!" Carla said as both the woman and Michello were released, as well as Lucy and Zack.

"The explosive disappeared!" Lucy noticed.

"God..."

Zack rushed over to the pregnant woman. "Jim! Get this woman to a safer location!" He instructed.

"Understood!" Jim said.

"Y-You saved me! Well done! Nice work!" Michello complimented.

Akame slammed his fist down on Michello's head, shocking everyone while Zack sighed. Michello fell to the ground.

"You pissed me off, so take a nap." Akame ordered.

Both Natsu and Akame walked towards Jackal and Fenris. "I guess you have trouble learning. You touched me again." Jackal said.

"Natsu, be careful!" Happy warned.

"You too, Akame!" Chii added.

"It seems they use Curses, which are stronger than Magic!" Wendy informed.

"Curses?" Natsu repeated.

"I don't know the details, but it's different than Magic, apparently." Carla said.

"I'm glad you remembered. But it's too late." Jackal said as Natsu began to glow. "Curse, a power even stronger than Magic! This time, I'll teach your body just how formidable that is!"

"I've got the hang of it!" Natsu claimed.

"Hang of it?" Jackal quoted.

"Natsu!"

"Natsu-san!"

Natsu chuckled. "See?"

"Your measly Virus won't work on a Blood Dragon!" Akame exclaimed as him and Natsu had a stare off with Jackal and Fenris.
