AN: Thanks so much for the Reviews on the last chapter. You guys are amazing!!!!
Penelope hasn't been feeling well for the past few days; she hasn't been able to keep her food down and has been throwing up every morning. As a result, she called in sick, which meant Kevin Lynch had to use her computers to help her team with their cases. Penelope wished that Kevin didn't have to use her computers, but unfortunately, everything the team needed was on her computers. Penelope made a mental note to herself that as soon as she returns to her office, she will clean and disinfect everything.
While Penelope was making herself some chicken noodle soup for lunch, she heard a knock at her door. She turned the stove off and set the pan aside before walking towards the door. As she opened it, she saw JJ standing outside.
"JJ, what are you doing here?" Penelope asked, not expecting any company today. "I thought you'd be with the team in Utah working on the new case," Penelope added, her surprise evident at JJ's unexpected presence.
"Yeah, I was. But Derek asked me if I could check up on you and Hotch said it would be okay. So, can I come in?" JJ asked with a light chuckle as she waited for Penelope to let her in.
" Of course, you can come in." Penelope answered as she waved JJ in and closed the door behind them."I'm hoping to be back to work as soon as possible." She said as she walked into kitchen to get her chicken noodles soup that was now warm before walking back out into the living room.
Don't worry about it. How are you feeling today? JJ asked as she sat down on the couch after taking her jacket off.
"I'm feeling a little better. I haven't been throwing up for the past few hours and it seems like chicken noodle soup has been helping to settle my stomach. This is my third bowl of it so far," Penelope answered as she started to eat a spoonful of her soup.
JJ nodded her head as she watched Penelope for a moment. "That's good, but um, are you sure that you're not pregnant? She asked, as she had been kind of suspicious about it. If there was anyone who knew about the signs of being pregnant, it would be JJ.
"Me? Pregnant?" Penelope asked with a snort as she shook her head. "Derek and I have only been going out for a few months. It's way too..." She suddenly gasped in realization as she shook her head once more and set her bowl down. "No, no, no. I can't be pregnant. It's way too soon." She said as she got up from the couch and started to pace back and forth.
" Have you had your period yet?" JJ asked.
Penelope shrugged her shoulders as she continued to pace back and forth. "No, but I'm only a few days late. But there's absolutely no way I'm pregnant. I mean, Derek and I never really talked about having kids yet. Besides, I don't even know if I even want kids yet, and I don't even know how Derek would feel about it either. Oh my God, what am I going to do?" She asked as she stopped for a moment, placing both hands against her face in frustration.
"There's only one way to find out for sure and that's by taking a pregnancy test. If you want, I can even drive you to the drugstore and pick one up for you."
Penelope dropped her hands to her sides and nodded her head. "Yeah, okay. But let's not tell Derek just yet."
" Why not?"
Penelope sighed deeply. "Because I don't want to tell him anything until I have to. Besides, I might not even be pregnant, and all of this nausea could just be caused by a stomach flu." She answered as she shrugged her shoulders and turned around, heading back into her room to get dressed and ready.
Five minutes later JJ stood up as soon as she saw Penelope walking out of her room." Ready to go?" She asked with a smile.
Yeah, I think so," Penelope answered as she nodded her head and grabbed her things, following JJ out of her apartment. She couldn't believe this was happening. All week she thought it was just the stomach flu, but now she was going to a drugstore to pick up a pregnancy test, and she was totally freaking out.
"How long has it been already?" Penelope asked as she paced around her living room. It had only been an hour since she and JJ got home from the drugstore, and just a few minutes since she took a test. The test required at least ten minutes for the results, but it already felt much longer than that.
" About five minutes so far." JJ answered as she looked at the timer on her phone. Why don't you sit down?" She suggested.
Penelope shook her head as she continued to walk back and forth." I'm good. Are you sure it's only been five minutes?"
" It was and now it's down to two minutes left, are you sure you're okay?"
" No! I'm totally freaking out over here." Penelope answered with a sigh as she finally sat down on the couch. " God, JJ. What am I going to do? I mean I can't be mom not yet anyway. I mean I love kids and I love Derek. But I don't know if we're ready for kids. I don't even know if I'm ready."
" Hey, you will be a great mother. You're an amazing God mother and Henry Loves you." JJ said with a smile as tried to make Penelope feel better and little less nervous." Feel little better now?"
Penelope nodded her head with a small smile. "Just a little," she answered with a chuckle.
When the timer went off JJ looked over at Penelope's bathroom door and then back at Penelope." Well, the moment of truth. Want me to go in there with you?"
Penelope took a deep breath as she shook her head. "No, I think I can go read the test myself," she answered. As she blew out a huge breath, she walked towards her bathroom. Opening the door, she stepped inside and closed it behind her. Slowly, Penelope walked towards her bathroom sink.
Penelope gripped the pregnancy test in her hand as she closed her eyes. "Well, it's now or never," Penelope said softly to herself as she inhaled and exhaled. As she was about to read the test, Penelope placed the test back down on the bathroom sink, shaking her head.
" Pene? Everything okay in there?" JJ asked as she knocks on the bathroom door gently.
With the pregnancy test still in her hand, Penelope nodded her head. "Yes, everything is fine," she murmured. "Come on, Penelope, you can do this." She said softly as she took another deep breath and finally opened her eyes, lifting the test up closer. The moment she looked down and read the results, she felt more nervous than ever.
" Oh my God... "
