Chapter 1: Unwelcome change, for better or worse.
After leaving the town, the group walked for a while, and just as Lissa said it started to get dark.
"I told you, it's getting dark already!" said Lissa in annoyence, "...ech! And now the bugs are out!".
"Noisy, disgusting bugs that buzz around and crawl all over and bite you when-" she stopped, then started coughing, "Agh! Won goph in mah mouph! Blech! Ptooey!".
"Aw, come on Lissa, hardship builds character" said Chrom as Sora helped Lissa by tapping her in the back, "want to help me gather firewood?".
"Tpht! Tpht! Yeeeeeuck! ...I think i swallowed it..." said Lissa, "i'll pass on finding firewood, thanks. I think i build quite enough character for one day".
"We should probably think about food" said Robin, "i don't know about you, but i'm starving".
"Yes, i should think a little hunting and gathering is in order" said Frederick, "now who wants to clear a campsite?".
A little while later.
The five of then sit around a campfire, with Robin and Lissa having cleared a campsite, Chrom getting firewood, Frederick having hunted a bear of all things, and suprisingly enough, Sora had collected multiple eatable fruits, plants and mushrooms
"Mmm.. It has been to long since i last ate bear meat. Delicious!" said Chrom, then he noticed that Lissa hasn't even touched the meat, "...What's wrong, Lissa? Dig in".
"Pass!" said Lissa while she held a stick with fruits and mushrooms over the fire, "gods, couldn't you spear us na animal normal people eat for once?".
"I mean, come on, who eats bear?! You're meddling with the food chain, right Robin? ...Uh, Robin?".
Robin said nothing as he wolfing down on the meat, "(Sigh) I suppose a person would enjoy just about anything after not eating for days..." then she ate some of the things on the stick, "at least some of us here have some idea of what people normaly eat when camping".
"But i have to say Sora, this food you made is really good, i had no idea that you could cook!".
"I can?" Sora asked, mostly to himself, "i really just grabbed the food as i say it, didn't really give it much thought, it just came naturally to me wich of the fruits, plants and mushrooms where safe to eat".
"In that case, you must be a really good chef" said Lissa, "ripping apart the plants to use them as seasoning? I didn't even think about that until you said what you where going to use them like that!".
"Like in said, you must be really a good chef if you can made this kind of food just by instinct, it certanly beats having to eat this bear meat".
"Yeah, totaly" said Sora as he also ate some fruits and mushrooms from a stick, for he two also refused to eat the bear meat, "i mean, they didn't even bother to cut of the fat for criying out loud!"
"Just eat it you two, meat is meat" said Chrom.
"Sice when does meat smell like old boots?!" said Lissa, "...Wait, i take that back, boots smell better".
"I'm with her, this stuff is gross" said Sora, "if i had some proper kitchen utensils, i could probably cut it up properly and make it good, but it looks like Frederick just tore this out after killing the bear, plus, all you did was put it over the fire".
"Also, don't say to just use my sword because we just foght this evening, so using it for food would be discusting, plus, bear meat is really gamey".
"Well, look at this, the mysterious warrior fancy himself a chef" said Frederick, " besides, every experience makes us stronger, milady. Even those we don't enjoy".
"Really? Then why don't i see YOU eating, Frederick?" asked Lissa annoyed at him.
"Me? Oh, well... I'm not hungry. I... I had a large lunch! Yes, quite" said Frederick, clearly liying because he really, REALLY, dosen't like bear.
"Yeah right, Frederick!" said Lissa, "not setting a good example for us, are you Frederick?" said Sora.
Some time later
Chrom had decided to take the first wach, and so far, nothing happened, but then he felt that something was off, he decided to investigate, but he accidentaly woke Lissa up.
"(Yawn) what's wrong, big brother?" asked Lissa as she woke up.
"Sorry, didn't mean to wake you, but..." said Chrom, "something is amiss...".
"Define 'something' " asked Lissa.
"I'm not sure..." said Chrom, "i think i'll have a look around".
"Not alone, you won't!" said Lissa as she got up, "i'm coming too".
"Heh. Thanks, Lissa" said Chrom.
And so, the two of them walked around the forest for a while, not seeing or hearing anything at all.
"I sure is dark... And quiet" said Lissa, "where did the birds go?".
"Something is wrong here..." said Chrom, and sure enough, soon after, a massive earthquake hits them.
"Aaah! Chrom!" said Lissa in a panic.
"Gods, what-" said Chrom before he held Lissa from falling, "agh! What is this madness?! Lissa, stay close!".
Soon after, Chrom heard something, when looked he saw that multiple trees began to fall.
"Lissa, run!" said Chrom, "huh?" said Lissa.
"I mean it! Go!" said Chrom, and after Lissa began to run, he followed soon after.
And sure enough, the ground began to tear apart, and lava began to come forth from the holes, then balls of lava began to fall from the sky!
"This way!" said Chrom as he and Lissa ran away from the catastrophe, and soon enough, the two of them got away, but as they stopped to catch there breathes...
"Chrom! What is that?!" said Lissa pointing at something, then said thing materialized into something like an eye, then two weird figures fell from it.
Said things looked like humans, but there odd movements, the sounds they made, and the fact that there eyes glowed red and that black fog came out of there mouhts suggested otherwise.
"Lissa, you better stand back" Said Chrom as he took out the Falchion and prepared to fight.
Soon after, one of the creatures rushed foward to attack, but Chrom simply sidestepped and slashed the creature, but it appeared to fell no pain, for it simply twisted it's head in a groteste way, before attaking again, Chrom struggled with the creature, before breaking of and spinning the creature, thrusting at it, sending it to the ground, before leaping upwards and impaling it from above, killing it, and it soon dissapered into fog.
Chrom soon refocused after hearing Lissa screaming, and then say that she was cornered by the other creature, and it was about to attack her, Chrom rushed to her side, but as he did this, the two of them failed to notice that another figure came from the eye, and after landing, he ran towards Lissa, and as the creature was about to attack, the person took out his sword and blocked it.
Lissa opened her eyes to see that the person that saved her was not Chrom, but an individual with short blue hair and was wearing a mask over his face, Chrom stopped to see this individual that appered out of knowhere.
"Help!" the individual said to Chrom, making him come back to reality, and so, with Falchion in hands, he ran towards the creature.
This distracted the creature long enough for the person to push it off him, and so both he and Chrom dismembered the creature, then dissapered into fog.
Lissa and Chrom looked at the individual as he sheated his sword.
"Quite an entrance" said Chrom, "What's you're name?"
Before he got na answer, more of the same creatures began to appear in front of them, then they hear a horse galloping, then Frederick appeares! Followed by Robin and Sora.
"Milord! Milady! Are you hurt?" Asked Frederick.
"Frederick! Robin! Sora!" said Lissa in relief.
"What's going on?" asked Sora, "we woke up to the earthquakes to see that you two weren't there, then lava started to erupt, and...".
Then he say the creatures in front of them, "and what are those things?".
"Are such horrific creatures commonplace in these lands?" asked Robin.
"They're not from Ylisse" said Chrom, "i promise you that".
"No one is injured, then?" asked Frederick but receved no reply, "thank the gods...".
"Thank the masked man who saved me! If it wasn't for him, i'd be..." Lissa stoped to see that the masked individual was nowhere to be seen, "hey, where did he go?".
"We can worry about him later, AFTER we put these... things... to the blade" said Frederick as he prepared for battle, "eyes open, now. We know nothing about this enemy".
"Right" said Chrom.
And then the second battle of the day... or rather, for the night began.

So yeah, i think i'll go with this scheme, one part of story, one of battle, and if it's to long, one for the aftermath of the chapter, and if it to short, i'll add some stuff to give you guys something to read.
So the Shepherds have another fight on their hands, what will happen now?
