Chapter 1: Unwelcome change, for better or worse. Aftermath.
And so the group makes it to Ylisstol, and to their relief, the capital was completely unaffected by the events of last night.
"So this is Ylisstol, capital of Ylisse..." said Robin in awe, "i've never seen so many people!".
"It appears the capital was spared the chaos we encontered, thanks the gods" said Frederick in relief, "i see no evidence of the great quake. It must have been limited to the forest".
"Well, that's a relief!" said Lissa also in relief.
"look! The Exalt has come to see us!" said a man who pointing at a woman who was being escorted by knights while waiving a the people.
This woman had long blond hair and grey eyes, she was wearing a green with golden cloak over white dress, she wore green stockings and green heels.
"The Exalt is your ruler, yes?" asked Robin.
Yes. Her name is Lady Emmeryn" said Frederick.
"Is it safe for her to walk among commoners like this?" asked Robin.
"The Exalt is a symble of peace- Ylisse's most prized quality" said Frederick, "long ago, at the dawn of our age, the fell dragon tried to destroy the world".
"But the first exalt joined forces with the divine dragon and laid the beast low. Exalt Emmeryn reminds us all of the peace we fought for then".
"With Plegia poking at our borders, the people need her" said Chrom, "she's a calming presence, when some might otherwise call for war".
"Then the Ylissean people are indeed lucky to have her" said Robin.
"Yeah, she seems as kind and serene as an angel" said Sora.
"She's also the best big sister anyone could ask for!" said Lissa.
"Yes, i imagine she... Wait, what? She's your..." said Robin perplexed before he realized what that means, "but wouldn't that make you and Chrom...".
"The prince and princess of the realm, yes" said Frederick, "You remember Chrom name and not this?".
"You said you where 'shepherds'" said Robin in disbelief.
"And so we are... in a matter of speaking" said Chrom "we just have a LOT of sheep".
"C-Chrom... I mean, Prince Chrom! Sire! Forgive my dreadful-" said Robin, only to be interrupted by Sora's laughter.
"Hahaha... man, you should have seen your face" said Sora.
"W-wait, WHAT? You already knew?" asked Robin in disbelief, "Since when?".
"About the time when we left that village" said Sora as he stopped laughting, "i mean, come on, the way there dressed, their fancy weapons, not to mention the way this knight in shinning armor was referring to them as".
"T-that long? But you acted as if you didn't even know" said Robin.
"I don't really care about that sorta thing, i talk to my friends like this all the time" said Sora, "besides, it's not like they seemed to care either way".
"Hehe... indeed, i've never been much for formalities" said Chrom, "but i'm suprised that you noticed and said nothing Sora".
"Like i said, dosen't really mean anything for me either way" said Sora, "besides, it's not like i fell an air of royalty from either of them".
This got Lissa to fell a little sad before Sora said, "you two are nice people and good at heart, not really what you expect from royalty in all honesty".
"...o-oh! So that's what you meant huh, hehe..." said Lissa, gaining a curious eye from Robin and Sora, "well you don't have to worry about that, Ylisse dosen't have any royalty with a stick up their buts, at worst you'll find someone who thinks to highly of themselves or have really high standards, not someone who only cares about themselves".
"Is that so?" said Sora, "then it's nice to see the delicate royals of Ylisse care about their kingdom".
"Exactly! You won't find..." said Lissa before Sora's comment hit her, "HEY! You're making fun of us, aren't you?!".
"Mayyyybe?" said Sora, and he was about to laugh, but Lissa quickly bopped him in the head.
"Ow!" said Sora with both hands on his head
"Who's the 'delicate' one now huh?" said Lissa with both hands on her hip.
" 'Friends' huh? Well, those two do go well together" said Robin, "still, the prince and princess... That explains why Frederick tolerates all the teasing, eh?".
"Indeed. Oh, the sacrifices i make for the good of the realm..." said Frederick.
"It looks like Emm is returning to the palace. Would you like to meet her?" asked Chrom.
"I would love to" said Robin.
"And what about you, Sora?" said Chrom, but Sora ignored him as he was still talking to Lissa.
"-wait, you know how to make crepes? And fruit pies?" asked Lissa not beliving Sora's abilities.
"It's actually said Tarte-a-fruit" corrected Sora.
"Hey Sora" said Chrom as he nugged him.
"What's up, Chrom?" asked Sora.
"I asked if you would like to meet Emm" said Chrom.
"Oh, Sure thing" said Sora.
"Hey, this conversation isn't over you know" said Lissa.
And so the group went to the palace to meet the Exalt.
In the palace.
Chrom, Lissa and Frederick make their way towards Emmeryn while Robin and Sora lag behind while examining the interior of the palace.
"Chrom! Lissa! Welcome home. Oh, and good day, Frederick" said Emmeryn, "How fared you all?".
"Well-we shouldn't have any bandid problems for a while" said Chrom.
"Wonderfull. And the people?" asked Emmeryn.
"Safe as they can be, Emm" said Chrom, "but we still need to waych the borders".
"The brigands crossed over from Plegia".
"Forgive me, milord. My pegasus knights should have intercepted them" said the knight behind Emmeryn, she had water-green hair and red eyes, she wore light blue cloths underneat a small set of armor ment for pegasus riders.
"No, Phila. Your duty was here, with the exalt" said Chrom.
"And besides, we had plenty of help!" said Lissa as she looked at Robin and Sora.
"Ah, you speak of your new companions here?" asked Emmeryn.
"These are Robin and Sora. They fought bravely with us against the brigands" said Chrom, "i've decided to make them shepherds".
"It sounds as though Ylisse owes the two of you a debt of gratitude, Robin and Sora" said Emmeryn.
"Not at all, milady" said Robin triying to be modest.
"He, i just did what any hero would do" said Sora with a big smile.
"Forgive me, Your Grace, but i must speak" said Frederick, "Both Robin and Sora claim to have lost their memories, but it is only that: a claim".
"We cannot rule out the possibility that they are brigands themselves or even plegian spys".
"Frederick!" said Chrom in shock of what Frederick just said.
"But another matter that concerns me most is this boy" said Frederick reffering to Sora, "at first glance, there dosen't seem to be anything out of the ordinary with him, but i have seen him move at speeds far faster than any pegasus is capable of, annihilate multiple combatans in a blink of an eye and with large amonts of force, all while obviostly having years of experience to back him up".
"If that wasn't enough, he also appears to have control of some sort of magic that i have never seen, what with being able to summon a large glacier that somehow made it start snowing".
"Combine all that with the fact that this boy hasen't even reached adulthood makes for a mysterious figure".
"Hey, it's not like i'm triying to keep anything from you..." said Sora looking a little dejected.
"...Yet you allowed them into the castle, Chrom" said Emmeryn, "do these people have your trust?"
"Yes. They risked their liver for our people" said Chrom, "that's good enough for me".
"Well then, Robin, Sora..." said Emmeryn, "it seems you've earned Chrom's faith, and as such you have mine as well.
"Milady" said Robin with a bow.
"Heh, thanks" said Sora with a big smile.
"But thank you, Frederick, for your prudence, as always" said Emmeryn, "Chrom and Lissa are blessed to have so tireless a guardian".
"I do hope they remember to mention that from time to time".
"They occasionally express something akin to graditude, your grace" said Frederick, "Phila, i assume you've heard about the deadly creatures we encontered, yes?".
"Yes, milord. They've been sighted all across Ylisse" said Phila.
"Chrom, we are about to hold council. I was hoping you could join us" said Emmeryn.
"Of course" said Chrom.
"I think that's our cue, Robin! Sora!" said Lissa, "C'mon, there's a place i want to show you two".
"You're looking foward to raiding the kitchen aren't you Lissa?" said Sora.
"Yeah, th- HEY! I'm not!" said Lissa in annoyence, with Robin laghting right behind them.
"So that's Sora" thoulght Emmeryn, "he's certanly not the person i had imagined, but that's not a bad thing at all".
"Something wrong, Emm?" asked Chrom.
"(Humm) no, nothing's wrong" said Emmeryn, "now, shall we be going?".
And so the day went on.
