Chapter 3 : Duties to fulfil
AN: Hello my lovelies and welcome back in this chapter Miguel will take care of the duties while Mirabel is out of town.

It had Been 2 weeks since the Engagement was announced and both families are busing with excitement over the upcoming wedding. But today was day unlike any other Mirabel was going out of town since the Encanto was needing more resources to grow more crops.
"Are you sure you have got this I could always send Isabela outside of town instead and I can stay here?" Mirabel asked
"Mi Amor you don't have don't have to worry I have got this, The list is on your desk if I need help". Miguel reassures
"Don't worry Prima everything will be fine trust us". Camilo hugged Mirabel
"Ok, I trust you both". Mirabel hugged Camilo
She gave Miguel a kiss on the lips and walked out the door but not before turning back and smiling.
"Oh and Mi vida make sure Camilo doesn't do anything stupid bien?" She asked
"Si now go". Miguel waved her away
Mirabel left with Bruno in a cart and two donkeys headed outside out of town in Bodega backs packed and ready to leave she waved a goodbye and smiled.
Once she left Miguel went back inside the house and went to the kitchen to get some coffee and to check the list .
"Alright this doesn't seem so bad ". Miguel said
So once he finished his coffee he grabbed the list and headed straight the church where señor Flores was waiting he waved him over.
"Miguel I suppose you got the message ". Flores asked
"Si and I think I know how to fix the bird problem". He replied
"Really how?" Flores questioned
"Well back in my hometown we would always keep a bird feeder Near by so that they don't peck at the wood all the time and it keeps them distracted ". He explains
" That's Amazing I'll order one from the carpenter right away". Flores was amazed
"Bueno is there anything else you need". He asked
"No that's it, Thank you so much your already making such a good leader ". Flores thanked
"I am glad to hear that". Miguel nodded
He waved goodbye to the pastor and went back to the house. Then checked of the list then grabbed The quilts and headed to the orphanage. Three minutes later he made it to the orphanage and there he met the mistress and smiled as he entered.
"Hola Senor Miguel lovely to see you the kids have been waiting all morning to hear your stories ". Senora Fernandez asked
"I am glad to hear that, I also brought quilts because I am sure the kids are freezing in this weather ". Miguel said
Soon all the kids jumped in to see Miguel all of them yelling at once.
"Miguel how are you!!" They all yelled
"Woah woah , slow down Chicos one at a time". He put his hands up and smiled
"It's good to see you too". He said
He then handed out quilts then sat them down near the fire to warm up. All the kids smiled at him and he smiled back, then he noticed a new girl he had never seen before slowly he then went up to her and smiled, she gently waved and smiled back.
"Hola my name is Miguel ". He waved gently
"My name is E-E-Emily ". She studded
"What a very pretty name, it's lovely to meet you ". Miguel smiled
"Gracias ". Emily blushed
"Well I was just about to tell some stories if you would like to join in". Miguel suggests
"Si". She whispered
So she held Miguel's hand and got let to the fire to stay nice and warm with the other kids, Each of them had their quilts and ready for Miguel to tell some stories.
"What story is it today?" Luis asked
"Well this is one about a very brave fairy, who never gave up and tried her hardest no matter what the obstacles ".
"Tell us por favor ". A girl shouted
"Okay sit tight". Miguel warned
So with that he told the story of a fairy who had faced a giant ogre and Cast a stunned spell to make him fall asleep and had to get a map to a pirate who sailed the seven seas with rocky shores ahead and rough terrain, until she made it home and gave the pirate the map and in return she could return to her family.
When Miguel was finished the kids sat their in silence and awe hanging onto every single word and smiling from ear to ear.
"Wow". Emily breathed
"That was awesome". Luis finished
"The fairy kind of reminds of Miss Mirabel and what she has done for the town except not an ogre but a vision instead". Josefina pointed out
"Si it kind of does doesn't it". Miguel agreed
"Is She your fairy?" Luis asked
"Si more than anything ". Miguel nodded
"She's not a fairy Luis she's a queen". Josefina added
"That she is Josie ". Emily agreed
"She's come to visit us everyday since she was 12 and she was very brave none of the rest of Madrigals wanted to spend time with us". Ruben explains
"Really?" Miguel shook his head
"Si". He nodded all the rest of the kids followed
"Well I am sure that has changed and if not am sure I can do something about it". Miguel said
The kids hugged Miguel and he hugged them tightly back , wishing that these kids had homes and a family to care of them.
"Miguel?" Emily asked
"Si". He replies
"Is Mira the love of your life?" She asked
"Yes sweetheart she is more than that she is courage , love and kindness she's my very soul". Miguel replies honestly.
He then played games with the kids for an hour or two before he left but not before waving goodbye to the Mistress.
"Gracias Miguel come back anytime and we'll be happy to hear your stories ". Senora Fernandez called
"De nada and I will". He waved
While walking down the street back to Casita he saw Julieta and Isabela picking Mangoes and he decided to help.
"Hola Mamá, Hermana need help I have an extra crate ". Miguel greets
"Si that would be great Hermano ". Isabela than put Mangos in the crate
"Thank you so much Mijo you didn't have too". Julieta thanks
"Nonsense you're my family and family helps out, come on let's get these back to Casita before it gets dark". He lifted the crate as the three walked back to The Casa Madrigal.
"How did the duties go today I hope it wasn't too much". Isabela laughed
"No not at all, besides we managed to fix the bird problem that the church had by putting a bird feeder in". Miguel explains
"That's great I bet señor Flores was happy ". Julieta said
"He was very much". Miguel laughs
"Although when I went to the orphanage today I met this adorable little girl named Emily and she was very shy and didn't talk". Miguel explains
"Really?" Isabela cocked her head
"Si apparently she was left at the orphanage by her parents Who didn't want her". He replies
"Oh that poor darling ". Julieta sympathises
"I know but at least she's in a good place now with all the other kids ". Miguel nodded
"I was thinking about maybe going to the orphanage with the whole family and connect with the kids there, we could tell more stories play games and have hot choclate". Miguel suggests
"I think that's a great idea Mijo, The kids will love it". Julieta said
"I've been experimenting with flowers that can be used as paint so I can do some painting with them". Isabela adds
"Great idea Isa ". Miguel agrees
"I guess it's settled then". Julieta nods
They walked into the house putting boxes Of Mangos down on the counter with the help of Casita. Dolores started to prepare the table for dinner. Miguel went to help in the kitchen with dinner and as much as she tried to protest he helped and started cooking the soup.
"No No No Mijo I have got it you don't have to". Julieta protested
"Nonetheless I am helping besides It couldn't hurt to try new recipes ". He replies
"So sonbrino How did you go with your first day as Patriarch ?" Pepa asked whilst carrying Laundry in her arms.
"Not bad at all , We fixed the bird problem with the church and the pastor seems happy about it". Miguel nodded whilst stirring the soup.
"That's Great and the orphanage?" She asked
"Amazing, I met the kids and told them stories and fairytales I even met this Adorable little girl named Emily she was a bit shy but slowly warmed up to me". He said
"I knew you could do it your making a great leader already ". Pepa hugged Miguel and a rainbow appeared above her head.
Just then the door opened and Mirabel and Bruno were back from their trip and they managed to collect extra resources that would last the Entire town at least 6 months.
"We're home" Bruno announces
"Just In time dinner is just about ready". Julieta said
Bruno then hugged his family and smiles the kids hugged his legs and smiled.
"For goodness sake go wash up you're a mess". Pepa gestured to the dirt on Bruno's clothes and on his face.
He just rolled his eyes but not before turning to Miguel and winking at him, He chuckled.
Then Mirabel entered the house looking dreadfully tired skirt and hair ruffled up everywhere. Both Julieta and Miguel went to check on Mira whilst Dolores was checking to make sure the food wasn't burned.
"Ay Mija what happened?" Julieta asked
"Donkey trampled on the way here". She hugged her mother
"Looks like someone smeared dirt and ruffled your hair Mi Amor looks good". Miguel laughs
"Oh shut up". Mirabel gently kissed him
"I am going to clean up don't do anything crazy". Mirabel replies
"I would never". Miguel laughs
She rolled her eyes and went to go freshen up, whilst the table was being set up, Luisa shut the book she was just reading and Helped Isabela unpack the cart.
~3 Minutes later~
Dinner was ready and the family were laughing and talking about the events of the day . When Camilo stopped eating to tell Mirabel that he helped Miguel.
"Oh really?" Mirabel smirked
"Si". Camilo smiled
"You did no such thing you just lazed around all day How is that helping?" Miguel laughs
"Hey, being a Shapeshifter is hard". Camilo huffed
"Using your power is no excuse for not helping". Isabela smiled
"I agree and just for lying your on dishes duty tonight ". Pepa stated firm
"Come on". Camilo pouted
"Want to make it three nights Mister". Pepa shook her head
"No Mamá ". He breathed
"That's what I thought". Pepa smirked feeling accomplished
After dinner was done the family then went into the nightly rituals and got ready for a good nights sleep. Some were in their rooms others were out in the lounging area but happy to get some rest from the long day.
Mirabel was stitching with her head on Miguel 's shoulder while he was reading a book.
"So how did it go today Mi vida?" She asked
"Very well actually, We mange to fix the bird problem in the church and Señor Flores seems happy. The kids seemed really happy today with the games and stories and I met this Adorable little girl named Emily she's very sweet but shy". He started
"Oh?" Mirabel coaxed her head to look up at her Fiancé
"Si señora Fernández told me she was abandoned as a baby". Miguel looked sad
"Oh the poor darling ". Mirabel sympathised
"I know but at least she's with the other kids and from what I hear she's made some very good friends especially with Josefina and Luis and she enjoyed the stories and games". Miguel smiled
"Well one day she'll have a family that loves her and looks after her". Mirabel replies
"Si". He nodded
"Speaking of the kids I thought it would be a nice idea just to spend time with them for the week, with some games hot Choclate and books". Miguel mentioned
"Really you mean it?" Mirabel "s face lit up
"Si". He smiled
She hugged him tight and gave him a passionate kiss on the lips Miguel was surprised but reciprocated The kiss.
"What was that for?" Miguel asked
"For being the greatest man and husband a girl could ask for". Mirabel smiled
"Not yet". He laughed
"To me you already are Mi Amor". She kissed his forehead
"So are you". Miguel nodded
"Que?" She laughed
"For coming into my life, those kids really love you even more than me and you are the the love of my life and continue to be I don't know what I would do without you ". He smiles and kisses her
"Ay De Nada Musico and thank you for doing this for me today". Mirabel replies and hugs him tight
"Anything for you ". Miguel smiles
They then turn out the lamps and sleep safe in each other's arms not letting each other go they Knew whatever they could do they could do together Always and forever.
