Chapter 2: Shepherds and Rediscovering. Battle.
After getting ready, the group leaves the capital and prepares to march.
"Is everyone ready? We've a long march ahead" asked Chrom, getting a nood from eveyone.
"W-wait for me!" said a man running towards eveyone, this man had green eyes and dark green hair, he was wearing a full set of green armor with two small shields around his waist, he also was wearing a cloth with two parts of it hanging around his back, and a full one by his stomach, all the way to the mittle of his legs.
"Stahl?" asked Chrom.
"Why am i the last to hear about this expedition to Ferox?" asked Stahl as he was catching his breath.
"Huh? But Vaike was supposed to..." said Lissa, then she realised what happened, "Vaike! Did you forget to tell Stahl about the mission?".
"The Vaike never forgets!" he said, "...I just don't always remember, is all...".
"Still means you forgot" said Sora.
"Ugh..." groaned Lissa,, "i swear, you'd forget your own name if you weren't contantly saying it yourself".
"Speaking of wich, are you SURE you remembered your axe this time?".
"Hey! That was one time! ...Okay twice, but training sessions don't count" said Vaike, "anyway, i got it right here. Teach is loaded and ready for action!".
"Still... The fact that a soldier like you forgets their weapon dosen't really inspire confidence" said Sora.
"Oh, come of it, will ya?" said Vaike, "besides, i'm a warrior, no a soldier, important diffirence".
"Anyway, glad to have you along, Stahl, ol' buddy".
"That makes one of us. I was in such a hurry that i had to miss breakfast!" said Stahl, "there were muffins, and cakes, and... Well, i can tell you all about it while we march".
"Well, if you're hungry, you can have this" said Sora as he pulled a muffin from his pocket, "i helped a bit in making them, so they let me take some for myself".
"Oh, thanks" said Stahl, he then took the muffin and proceded to eat it.
"Wait, you just shoved some muffins into your pocket?" asked Lissa.
"Yup" said Sora.
"You still have some in those pockets?" asked Lissa.
"Yes, want some?" asked Sora.
"Well, since you... Wait! My point is, how did you do it? There's no way you can just put some muffins into small pockets!" said Lissa.
"Well... I just have some very, very deep pockets" said Sora, "here, want one?" he took one out of the same pocket.
Lissa simply looked at him and the muffin for a moment, then simply took the muffin and said, "you're just full of suprises, aren't you?" then she ate it.
"Hmmm... So, your name his Stahl, right?" asked Robin.
"Oh, i'm sorry Robin. This is Stahl, one of our finest" said Chrom.
"Hello Robin. Miriel told me we had some new Shepherds" said Stahl, "er, Miriel's one of our mages. She should catch up soon".
"And you must be Sora, Sully told me about you, the kid who sent Vaike on fire, when she told me that, i thought that something bad must have happened between the two of you, but when she explaned, i couldn't help but laght a bit".
"Ugh, my but's still sore from that" said Vaike, "also, why didn't you say that you could do magic and all?"
"You didn't ask" said Sora, "besides, you said that you wanted to see me in action, and so i did".
"Well, it sure was funny to see Vaike fumble around like a fool" said Lissa.
"I'm just glad my skin still intact" said Vaike.
"Well then, shall we get going?" said Chrom.
And so, the group began their march.
The group went towards their objective without trouble, until they got to a river, where they saw multiple of the same creatures from the other night.
"Gods, have the Risen spread this far?" asked Chrom with a worried tone.
" 'Risen'? " asked Robin.
"We needed a name for this new threat, so the council gave them one" said Frederick.
"Everyone, remember what were up against!" said Chrom.
"Mya ha! They'll remember ME once i drive my axe into their..." said Vaike as he was going to grab his axe, but... "wait... My axe. Were's my axe?! I had it a second ago!".
"Vaike, this is no time for jokes..." said Chrom.
"I'm serious! It's gone, but i JUST had it! It's got to be around here somewhere..." said Vaike.
"Keep to the rear, then! The battle is nigh!" said Chrom as he took out the Falchion.
"Well so much for The Vaike, huh guys?" said Sora as he took out his sword.
"How someone loses there weapon in such a short notice is beyond me" said Robin as he also took out his sword while leaving his tome at the ready.
"Sadly, it's to be expected from him" said Lissa.
And so the battle began, Sully and Stahl charged together, against the Risen, Sully with direct charges, and Stahl with hit and run tactics.
Meanwhile Frederick decided to hang back for a bit, because some of the people here still needed the experience, he would jump in if needed, but would mainly stay back to watch Virion.
Chrom lead foward with Robin at his side, cutting down the Risen, while Sora stayed with Lissa to cover her back.
The battle raged onward for a bit until...
"Splendid! It seems i've caught up. Now to extirpate these brutes..." Said a woman, she had Amber eyes and Brown hair, she was wearing a black cloth with teal lines along with a black cape, she was wearing dark green and olive baggy pants, she was wearing glasses along with a neckie and a pointy hat, she also had small bracelets on her arms and was wearing brown leather boots.
"Hmm? Is that na axe? Why yes it is... Perhaps someone mislaid it?" said the woman, "i'd not thought such dereliction permissible among the Shepherds".
"Still, i'd be remiss to not return this implement to its owner. Perhaps along with a stern word or two of dissaprobation!" she said picking up the axe.
She spotted a Risen coming towards her, she simply took out her tome and casted a fire spell towards it, killing it.
"So this is one of the so called 'Risen' then?" she said, "most intriging... Yet also disturbing in it's own way".
"Hey, are you okay there?" she heard a voice, wich turned out to be Sora's, "glad to see that you're alright".
"Yes, i am unharmed" said Miriel while she began to analise him in close detail, "i don't seem to recal you, are you one of the new recruits i've heard about?".
"Yup, my name is Sora, nice to meet you" he said while offering his hand.
"The plesure is mine as well, Sora" said Miriel as she shook his hand, "i've heard of you from Sully, especially about how you were able to not only cast a fire spell without a tome, and also including how you incinerated Vaike, despite most fire spells not being able to last for more than a secound after dispersall, so tell me, how were you capable of it?".
"Uhh..." Sora was a bit worried about what to say to her, especially since his magic dosen't work like how it does here, luckly for him, he saw that she was carrying na axe, "hey, isn't that axe to big for you?".
"Hmm? No, this axe isn't mine, i found it along the path" said Miriel, "do you perchance know wich one droped it?".
"I was Vaike" said Sora.
"(Sigh) Of course it was him, why am i not at the very least suprised?" Said Miriel, "i will return it, but i still wish to hear your explanation after this battle is over".
"Guess i didn't make her forget about it after all" thought Sora, hoping the he would have an excuse by then.
The battle raged on, and the Shepherds were winning, since there weren't anyone in sight of him, Sora decided to see what moves he could still pull of, some Risen were coming towards him, perfect.
Sora ran towards them sword at hand, he began by swinging his sword upwards, lauching one of them, he followed it, unleshing multiple slashes towards it, ending with a downwards spin, killing it and hurting the other Risen.
"Yup, still got the hang of it" said Sora.
"You trully never fail to impress" Sora looked back, the voice belonged to Chrom.
"Guess you saw all that?" asked Sora, in wich Chrom noded.
"You certanly are an unorthodox warrior, aren't you?" said Chrom.
"Look who's talking, you don't fight like a noble either" said Sora, "Who taught you anyway?".
"I taught myself how to fight" said Chrom "i had other people help me with training, but i'm mostly self-taught".
"Guess that makes two of us, i've been practicing with my friend with a sword ever since i could" said Sora, "that said, i've never been properly trained by anyone on how to fight".
"Yet you fight like someone with years of experience backing him up" said Chrom.
"You're not so bat yourself" said Sora.
They are interrupted by Risen wich began to form up in front of them.
"I guess this is the last of them" said Sora.
"Robin and the others have all ready taken care of the rest of them, so this is it" said Chrom, "shall we wait for them?".
"Well, there's only this group left, i think that we can handle this by ourselves" said Sora as he sheated his sword and summoned the Keyblade.
"That thing again?" asked Chrom, "just what is it?".
"Its... A special sword i found some time ago, it might not look like much, but can garantie that it can deala lot of damage" said Sora, "now then, shall we?".
"Verry well then, let's finish this!" said Chrom, then the two charged foward.
The two charged foward, Chrom took to the right, while Sora the left, Chrom began by unleashing multiple horizontal and vertical slashes, killing a few of them, then one came from behind him, he simply dodged it and cut at his legs, then he stabed it as it fell.
Sora saw an oppertunity to try out one of his abilties, at least, an inferior version of it, the Risen were lined up, so Sora began a long series of slashes, ending with a few strong bashes, killing them.
When there was one left, Chrom and Sora looked at each other, nooded, and ran towards it together, then they slashed it at the same time, turning it into smoke.
"finally, and good riddance!" said Chrom as he sheated the Falchion, "you certanly are a capable swordmaster, Sora".
"And you're not so bad yourself Chrom" said Sora as he dispelled the Keyblade, "glad to have you at my side".
"I fell the same way" said Chrom.
"Hey you two!" they looked and saw Lissa running towards them, "would really appreciate it if you two didn't just dissapear whenever you fell like it".
"Were alright, besides, there were only a few left" said Sora.
"Indeed, there were no problems here, we handled it without problem" said Chrom.
"Even so, running of by yourselves in a battlefield is never a good option" said Frederick coming in with Robin at his side, "especialy you, milord, the Shepherds look to you for leadership, and having you suddenly dissapear from everyone's sight can easyly put everyone in panic".
"...I understand, i'm sorry if i worried you all" said Chrom.
"As long as you understand, than that's what matters" said Robin.
"But still, if the Risen are appearing this far up the Northroad..." said Chrom.
"Then no path is safe. We'll need to stay wary" said Frederick.
And so everyone calmed down and continued the march.
The group walked for a while, until they saw something along the road.
"Well, what do we have here?" said Robin.
"Hey, is that what i think it is?" asked Lissa.
In front of them they saw a hourse with armor and a sattle, what was weird, at least for Sora, was that this hourse had wings!
"A hourse with wings?" said Sora.
"it's called a pegasus Sora" said Lissa, "you've never seen one?".
"Hmm... I think?... Once... Twice?... I Really can't remember" said Sora while scraching his head.
"I think it's hurt" said Chrom as he got closer, "let's just have a look here...".
But when he got close, the pegasus went into a panic, neying and screaching at Chrom.
"WHOA! Down girl! Easy there!" said Chrom, triying to calm it down.
"Captain, one moment!" said Sumia, but as she got close to them, she tripped and fell headfirst into the ground.
"Sumia! Are you alright?" asked Chrom, then he looked at her boots,"...Those boots of yours again?".
"No! I mean, yes! I mean... (Sigh)" said Sumia in defeat.
"Well, come no closer. This beast is crazed!" said Chrom.
"It's okay, Captain. I can handle this..." said Sumia, then she began to get closer to the pegasus, "shhh... Easy now, girl. I won't hurt you.".
The pegasus was wary at first, but then it calmed down and let Sumia get closer.
"Shhh..." she said as she patted the pegasus at her nose.
"How did she calm it so quickly?" asked Robin.
"That's incredible, Sumia!" said Lissa.
"I've never seen anything like it" said Chrom.
"She really trust you, dosen't she?" said Sora.
"Oh, it's... It's nothing. Really" said Sumia, "i just have a way with animals, i guess".
"I should say so!" said Chrom.
"You all go on ahead" said Sumia, "i'll dress her wounds and catch up as soon as we're able".
"We can make time to wait for you" said Chrom.
"Thank you, Captain. But i can manage" said Sumia, "every moment is precious when all of Ylisse is in danger".
"Right then. Be safe, Sumia" said Chrom.
"As you command, sir" said Sumia.
Everyone began to move on, but Sora stoped for a moment to look back at Sumia and the pegasus.
"Did i see one before?" thought Sora, "Or... Did i actually mount one?".
"Guess it's another thing i don't remember".
"Hey Sora! Come on, your getting left behind" yelled Lissa.
"Coming!" said Sora.
And so, they contonued on.
