It's been a few days since the whole hypnosis thing and honestly I hated it. Learning that my allergies came from Gobber's ear wax, I wanted to regurgitate my breakfast. But there were some good sides to it, one thing is that Astrid experienced my cuteness to a whole new level even though I never remember any of it. Beating Snotlout to the blink of unconsciousness. And learning that there is a dark god that I need to fight who turns out to be Noctis's brother. Okay, maybe not the last one.
I was helping Hiccup figure out what combinations can make the Dragon Eye work. I took one of the lenses to observe it for any irregularities and blew on it, noticing some dust before handing it back to Hiccup. Hiccup nodded in thanks as he put the lenses in the slot. "Okay, give me a slow burn, bud." Hiccup asks as Toothless looks up. "Sure thing." Toothless made a bit of flame as the Dragon Eye reflects the images within on the wall where we observe. "Okay, we've seen this before, but what happens if I push…" Hiccup mumbles before pushing a button causing the image to change giving us images of different dragons. "Dragon classes. It appears whatever this thing has within has lots of knowledge." I said observing the markings. Some of it is Shifter but I haven't understood the language yet so I will note this. I take out my notebook and write the exact language before closing it. "What do you say we check out the Night Fury and Shifter, guys?" Hiccup asked humorously. Toothless yawned as I smirked in amusement. "Try to contain your excitement, would you?" Hiccup says. "Ha ha ha." Toothless mockingly laugh before slumbering again. "And I thought I'm the lazy one." I chuckled before taking the Dragon Eye from Hiccup.
"Now, what if we combine the Monstrous Nightmare gem plus… strange that they know what a Night Fury looks like with us being all rare. There must have been hundreds of us in the past if whoever made this knew what we look like." I said in slight curiosity before pushing the button and twisting the rings only for the image to fade. "Nothing. Maybe we need different dragons. After all, dragons' flames are different from one another." I said as Hiccup thought before nodding. "You might be onto something." He said before pushing on a button and an image is shown on the door only for it to rise and Astrid appears surprising us. "Whoa!" I said, falling on my butt in surprise. "Oh! Astrid class. Heh heh." Hiccup chuckles nervously.
Astrid seemed out of breath before speaking. "Hiccup, Matt, we have a problem, a huge problem." Astrid says, causing us to look at each other in realization. "Dagur?" I said with a slight growl. Oh how I hate that guy. "Worse." Astrid scowled. I was beyond confused. "What could possibly be, in Noctis's grace, be worse than Dagur?" I asked before noticing a Monstrous Nightmare came clumsily flying and landing on Astrid. That was when I noticed he had a rider. "Gustav!" The rider exclaimed with a smile. "Gustav!?" Hiccup exclaimed in surprise. "Gustav." Astrid says with a glare. I look blankly at Gustav. "I retract my statement, Astrid." I said not amused in the slightest.
Gustav, son of Mrs. Larson and the most troublesome on Berk. Besides the twins of course. He's of course a good kid but he tends to overestimate his abilities, which often gets him in trouble, and he likes doing things on his own which always backfire on him, making me save him multiple times. Yeah I'm not going to like this at all, am I?
"Gustav, what are you doing here?" Hiccup said in confusion before reeling back trying not to be rude. Never change Hiccup. "I… I mean, to what do we owe the pleasure of this visit." Hiccup says as Fanghook, Gustav's dragon, smacks Toothless in the face accidently and gets near his face, causing him to push away. "Back off!" Toothless growled as I snicker. Then suddenly the rest of the gang came in along with Tyse. "Hiccup, did you hear Gustav is…" Snotlout stops as he notices Gustav right next to us. Standing right beside you. Perfect." Snotlout says with a fake smile. "You're looking a little different there, Guster." Tuffnut says as he notices something on his chin. "Yeah, I'm growing a beard." Gustav says pointing at a single hair on his chin. "Really? Let me see." Tuffnut says in excitement before laughing in amusement. "Ha! Even Ruff has more hair on her chinny-chin-chin than that." Tuffnut then pulled out Gustav's hair causing him to walk back in pain and hitting the chest, next to the Dragon Eye and Hiccup.
Tyse looks at me in confusion as I look at her. "Who's this? I haven't seen him the last time I was on Berk? Is he another dragon rider?" Tyse questioned as I shook my head. "That's Gustav Larson. A kid on Berk that was giving some training on dragon riding. You see, Gobber translated Gothi's writing to Snotlout that he is going to die, so he decided to recruit Gustav to be his replacement. Snotlout basically taught him everything to be a dragon rider and that led Gustav to train his own Monstrous Nightmare, Fanghook, who is standing in front of us annoying the scales off of Toothless." I say with a smirk as Toothless continues to growl at Fanghook. "And Snotlout? He looks alive to me." Tyse says with a slight giggle. "Turns out Gobber misunderstood Gothi's writing… again. It happens more than you think." I said as Tyse giggled more.
Gustav notices the Dragon Eye and grabs it and puts it near his eyes, blinding him because it still had some light generated from it. "Oh, whoa! You see these sports? Some sort of sun sword?" Gustav asks, trying to find his balance. "Give me that." I said, swiping my hand to grab the Dragon Eye before he drops it from his clumsiness. "No, Gustav, it's not a sun sword." Hiccup answers as I hand the Dragon Eye to Fishlegs. "It's the Dragon Eye, and it's very old and very fragile." Fishlegs explains as Gustav wobbles towards the wall covered in customized tail fins. "Whoa, these spots, they're not going away." He says before smacking his face on the wall causing one of the fins to fall, luckily Toothless saved it. "Watch it! My brother made this personally for me!" Toothless scolded. "It isn't something to just be touched." Fishlegs continues to explain as Tyse looks amused of Gustav's clumsiness. I wasn't amused though. "Relax, Fishlegs, I know what I'm doing." Gustav says before smacking his head on the wall again, only this time every tail fin fell and one even hit Toothless's head. Fanghook then puts one of the fins on top of his head. "Really?" Toothless growled annoyed as Tyse burst out laughing as I snicker.
"Gustav, Gustav, over here." Snotlout says catching Gustav from falling over. "Uh, when are you leaving?" He asks as I facepalm. "I got a bad feeling about what the answer is." I mumbled. "That's funny, Snotlout, but I'm not leaving. I'm moving here." Gustav says putting his fist on his hips with a confident smile. Snotlout and the Twins gasp before Tuffnut laughs. "Ha ha! Yeah, yeah, you are." He laughs smacking Ruffnut's shoulder making her grunt. "Imagine… he would never…" Tuffnut sheds a tear before stopping and having a scowl. "Wait, he's serious?" Looking at me as I nod. "I'll get the stake and firewood." He says as he and Ruffnut try to walk away only for Hiccup to stop them. "Oh, hold on, hold. No one is burning anyone at the stake." Hiccup says as Ruffnut smirks. "Hiccup's right. Let's just throw him off the cliff." She says, causing Tuffnut grin. "Guys, I'm sure there's a simple explanation." Hiccup says with a smile before turning to Gustav with a questioning look. "Please tell me there's a simple explanation, Gustav." Gustav rubs his eyes as he speaks. "Yeah, very simple. By the way, do not look right into that sun sword thing. Ha ha ha! Whoo!" Then he speaks normally again like he was never high on… whatever he was on. "Anyway, you said when I was ready, I could join the Dragon Riders. Well, I'm ready and I'm here to join. Where's my hut?" Hiccup looks at him like he has an extra two heads as I sighed
Hiccup, Astrid, Tyse and I were outside the clubhouse talking about what we are going to do about Gustav and Astrid is not liking it at all. "Wait a minute, why do I have to watch him?" Astrid asked, a bit angered by the suggestion. "I would do it, but I'm making some, just major breakthroughs with the Dragon Eye." Hiccup explains as Astrid crosses her arms. "So?" "Well, I did promise him that when the time was right I would train him to be a Dragon rider." Hiccup said as I added my two cents. "But we didn't think that it would be today though." "What am I supposed to do with him in the meantime?" Astrid asked me as I shrugged. 'Not going to answer?' Wolf asked me. 'Can't answer if I don't know the answer itself. "I– I don't know. Just keep him occupied." Hiccup stuttered unsure as Astrid looked away frustrated. "Great, so I'm a babysitter." Astrid said, causing Hiccup and Tyse to laugh off the image, even I and Wolf snickered at the thought. "Babysitter! Hehehe!" Hiccup says between laughs before snapping out of it. "No, I mean, come on. He's… He's sixteen. He's Matt's age and they share a lot in common." Hiccup says trying to convince Astrid as I looked at him with a WTDD (What the Dragon Dung) face. "Okay, one: don't think we have anything in common." I said offended. "And two: Matt is more mature and responsible than Gustav." Astrid added with a scowl as Hiccup backpedals a bit from our glares. "Okay, Okay, let's forget I said that part, but how much trouble could he possibly be?" Hiccup asked.
Suddenly Tyse gasps and Smidvarg lands near us out of breath. "Smidvarg! Are you ok!?" Tyse went full mother dragon and searched for any injuries on him. "What happened?" I asked in shock before hearing more screeching and a familiar voice. "Hey, Hiccup, did you know they could do this? Awesome!" Gustav yells excitedly as he and Fanghook cause the Night Terrors to scatter in fear. "GET AWAY FROM MY BOND SIBLINGS, HATCHLINGS!" Tyse roared in anger as her yellow eyes glared at the two. Hiccup turns to Astrid pleadingly. "Please? I just need more time. And for Gustav's sake before Tyse rips him in two." "Fine!" Astrid relented before getting on Stormfly and ordering Gustav to follow her. "Gustav, arena, now." Astrid and Gustav then fly off to the Arena as Hiccup turns to Smidvarg. "By the way, your timing… impeccable." "Just keep that hatchling away from me and my kin!" Smidvarg roared before walking away to check on his kin. "Well that was fun." I quipped before turning into my Night fury form. "I"m going to my house to study more about my kind. Tyse? Want to come with me?" I asked as her glare turned into a wide grin. "Of course, Nightshift! I'm right behind you!" She says as I wave Hiccup goodbye before flying away towards my house with Tyse behind me. Why do I feel like this is going to be a long day?
Tyse and I scoured through the information I have gathered and the notes that Tyse added to the Shifters. "Okay, so let me get this straight. Shifters have more… proportions in the body than regular humans?" I said blushing a bit. "Is that your innocent way of saying we have bigger butts and breasts?" Tyse says with a giggle. I blushed harder and looked away, causing Wolf in my head to laugh. "Anyway, to answer your question, yes. It's to attract our mates as well as make them feel good when mating. Especially the males! Woo hoo! Did you know the largest size is-" "LA LA LA! NOT LISTENING!" I interrupted loudly and yelled in complete embarrassment as Tyse laughed.
Suddenly the door was knocked on, making us glance at each other. "Wonder who that could be?" Tyse asked in curiosity as I snorted. "Whoever it is, I thank them for interrupting this… inappropriate moment." I said as Tyse chortled. I lifted the door to expect Hiccup, Astrid, or the Twins only to find Gustav there. "Sup, Matt." He says with a smile only to meet the door slam down in his face. I blinked before turning to Tyse. "I didn't just see Gustav there, did I?" I asked to make sure. "I don't know. Look again." Tyse says with eyes filled with humor. I frowned and lifted the door again to find the same smiling Gustav standing there. "Sup, Matt." I sigh in frustration before putting on a fake smile. "Gustav? What are you doing here? What happened to Astrid?" I asked as he strolled inside like he owned the place, innerly making me growl. I felt eyes on me and turned to find Tyse smiling. This wouldn't freak me out because they seemed innocent but her eyes showed darkness and evil, daring me to refuse to be nice. "Oh goddess, she is scary." Wolf whimpered as I shakely agreed.
Gustav looked around the place and took one of my research notes and looked into it. "So is this where you learn more about Shifters and dragons?" He asked as I snapped the book away from him and shut it firmly with one hand. "Yes and I would appreciate it that you would not disturb them. While the books are new, the information in them are ancient. Throughout the years before coming to Berk, I traveled the world to explore more of my kind and wrote it in my notebooks for safekeeping. While I couldn't find more shifters I found information that they were ancient and powerful. The information was hard to come by as well as not easily translated. Even with Tyse here, it's been difficult so don't. Touch. The. Books." I sternly stated before placing the notes on one of the shelves decorating my house.
If Fishlegs didn't choose the peaceful and serene rock garden and other stuff, he would definitely be surrounded by hundreds of books of dragons. Mine is sort of like that but not as much… nerdy.
"So… what could I touch then?" Gustav asked as I facepalm in frustration as Tyse blankly looks at him. She's still mad at him for the Night terrors still. "You didn't answer my question, you know?" I reminded him of why he was here. "Oh yeah. Well after Astrid was impressed by my handsome body and smarts." He says as we stare blankly, not believing his story for a second. "She dropped me off at Tuff and Ruff's hut to help around, and I noticed a big hole under their hut." Oh no. I know what hole he's talking about. The boar pit. I loved that pit. I would tackle and wrestle with those fleshes of meat as the Twins watch or I watch them make a fool of themselves being knocked down by the boars. Please don't tell me he... "And so I filled that baby up and told the twins. They weren't exactly happy to see their pit filled up." Gustav says scratching his head with a hesitant laugh. Oh goddess no!
"That's very interesting." Tyse says solemnly, crossing her legs and sitting as I glare at her. It is not interesting! "And the Twins sent you to us after that." "Uh no. They dropped me off at Fishlegs who, weirdly, made me practice mediation-" "It's pronounced meditation, Gustav." Tyse interrupted. "Right, mediation. Anyway, he told me to start breathing in and out because I was 'all over the place' and 'not centered'. Fanghook did the same and may have accidentally…" "He burned down one of Fishlegs's topiaries, didn't he?" I stated with a raised eyebrow. Gustav stayed silent and looked away, signifying his answer. "Okay, then he sent you to us?" I asked a second time. "No, Fishlegs sent me over to Snotlout." He stated as Tyse snickered. "I bet he enjoyed that." She says before looking away as I glare at her. "So what made him sent you over to us?" I questioned knowing the answer. 'You do?' Wolf asked. 'Not specifically but I know it involves fire.' I mentally replied. "I may have, kinda, maybe, set him on… fire?" Gustav questioned as Tyse burst out laughing. "Funny. And that's when he sent you to me." I answered. "Yes." Gustav replied as I sigh. "Alright just sit there and don't touch anything." I said pointing at a nearby chair. "Oh come on! At least let me do something fun!" Gustav exclaimed as I glare at him. "Your definition of fun is like the Twins. Chaotic! So sit down, if your bored, I'll find you a book to read. There's plenty of stories that should be fine." I said skimming the titles of multiple books before picking a couple. "Hah! Here's a couple." I said tossing the books to Gustav who caught it with difficulty and read the titles in confusion. "The Ugly Terror? Snaptrapper and the beanstalk? Beauty and the Shifter? The… wait is this smut?"
"What?" I said taking the book and skimming through it before blushingly and angrily stare at Tyse. "Tyse! What in hel is this!?" I said throwing the book at her face. She grunts as it impacts and lands on her lap, glancing down at it before looking at me shyly. "It's research?" She says hesitantly as I glare harder, using the Shifter glare in the process making her and Gustav uncomfortable. "When I asked for research, I mean information on what Shifters are! Their culture! Their abilities! NOT WHATEVER THIS IS!" I roared in the end, causing Tyse to sweat. "But it is research! Look!" Tyse lifts the book and shows the title. "A Thousand ways to please your mate! That's research!" She pleaded as I frustratedly grabbed her cheeks and pulled them. "Ow ow ow! Meanie! I'm the one that's supposed to enjoy torture! I'm supposed to be the sadist! Ow ow ow!" Tyse cried in pain as I pulled harder. "Let this be a lesson to you that you will never bring any of this kind of stuff near my research ever again! There's a reason why we also built your own place, you know!" I growled, pulling harder before letting go, allowing her cheeks to slap back on her face. "Ow! Your mean! You know that!?" Tyse groaned, rubbing her cheeks to smooth over the pain. I sighed and turned to Gustav's direction. "I'm sorry about that Gustav. I didn't realize Tyse was such a pervert-" I noticed Gustav wasn't there or anywhere in the hut. 'Uh, where did he go.' Wolf asks confused as I blink in bewilderment. 'Better add that to my research. When angered Shifters can't sense other being from approaching or leaving.' I thought before turning back to Tyse, only to find her face into the book. "What? It's a good read! A very good read." Tyse whispered as lust clouds her eyes and a noticeable blush reaches her face. "DO THAT AT YOUR PLACE OR IN PRIVATE AND NOT WHEN I'M NEAR PERVERT!" I yelled, forgetting about Gustav and kicking Tyse's butt. "OH HARDER, NIGHTSHIFT! MAKE ME FEEL THE PAIN!" "SHUT UP PERVERTED DRAGON!" 'HAHAHAHA! THIS IS HILARIOUS!' "SHUT UP WOLF!"
It's evening and almost dusk as we are in the club house. Apparently Gustav found a map on the Dragon Eye and went there with it. Unfortunately, the caverns there are highly unstable and we almost lost our lives there and Gustav was heading right to it. Luckily for him, Hiccup followed him and saved his life, but now he is in serious trouble. "Of all the irresponsible, insubordinate…" Hiccup begins frustratedly. "Don't forget idiotic, imbecilic, inane." Tuffnut interrupted, counting his fingers on the points of what Gustav did. Everyone stared at Tuffnut confusedly as he spoke. "What? I've heard a lot of words for 'stupid'. I mean, come on, people say that more than my proper name. Right Matt, Tyse?" "I don't believe so." I said in confusion on why Vikings would say that to him. They don't exactly have a wide vocabulary. "I've only known you for a few months and haven't visited Berk since the last time, soooo…" Tyse carried on as I nodded.
"Of all those kinds of stunts you could have pulled, this was the worst." Hiccup paced in annoyance. I haven't seen him this frustrated for awhile. Poor Gustav. "Do you know what Dagur would do to get his hands on the Dragon Eye?" Hiccup questioned as we looked at Gustav. "I just thought if I came back here with the treasure, you guys would accept me." Gustav says as Tyse's eyes teared a little. 'She's thinking about how alone she was for the last century before meeting us. It must have been hard for her. Being considered a monster to humans.' Wolf crooned in worry as I placed my hand on her shoulder causing her to lean into me. Hiccup didn't notice and continued to scold Gustav. "First of all, there is no treasure. Second of all, we've already been there. And that entire island is honeycombed with the most unstable caverns we've ever encountered." Hiccup said, causing Gustav to look down guilty. "I'm sorry. I just…" "You could've been killed, Gustav." Hiccup interrupted. "Fanghook could've been killed. Look, this isn't Berk, Gustav. The rules are different out here. You have to be smarter than this." "I just wanted to prove myself." Gustav crossed his arms looking away saying that. "Oh, you have." Hiccup said angrily.
Okay this is getting out of hand. "Hiccup." I say only for Tyse to cover my mouth. "Let him speak, this could be a good lesson for you to be a better alpha." Tyse says as I glare at her. How is this a 'good' lesson!? 'Just let it play out.' Wolf replied. 'Fine, but this is a bad idea.' I growled as Tyse removed her hand from my mouth. "You have proven that you are not responsible enough, you're not mature enough and you're not trustworthy enough to be one of us." Hiccup said harshly, making Gustav frowned. I wanted to smack both Hiccup and Tyse for making me watch them do this to Gustav. "Now, it's been a long day. We all need some rest. We'll talk about this in the morning." He said as everybody walked out of the clubhouse besides Gustav.
I look back and look down before glancing at Tyse sternly. "Go to my hut and bring Hiccup. I need to have a talk with the both of you. I need to speak with Gustav for a moment." "And what if I don't?" Tyse asks, deciding to be a rebel. Unknown to you that Tyse is testing you on how you'll react to this insubordination. My eyes turned into slits as I growled at her, unconsciously releasing my alpha power. "You will bring Hiccup and the both of you will go to my hut to speak with me. That is an order." I growled as Tyse shivers of the authority on her mind. "...As you wish, Nightshift." She says relented, but you swear you saw accomplishment in her eyes before she walks away towards Hiccup. 'Wonder what she's thinking about?' I wondered before approaching Gustav.
"Hey Gustav? Mind if I sit here next to you?" I asked. He didn't reply and looked away from me. I sighed and sat next to him. "Look Gustav, what you did was wrong but Hiccup shouldn't have said those things to you. He was just worried for your wellbeing, he did the same thing to me when I did something stupid. The point is that you just need some guidance. Ever since you bonded with Fanghook, I saw a great dragon rider that you could become. That you will become." Gustav looks at me, listening. "It might not be now, tomorrow or even next month but I know you will become a great dragon rider. You just need someone to guide and be patient with you. You don't have to prove yourself to us. Prove yourself to you. Be the best dragon rider you can be. After all those secret meetings with Fanghook should have taught you something, right?" I said, shocking Gustav as he stared at me. I wink at him with my right eye and stand up, walking away only to stop as I heard Gustav speak. "Matt?" I looked back at him, tilting my head at him in curiosity. "Yeah?" I asked. "Thanks." Gustav says with a small smile. I smiled back and walked away, transforming into my Night Fury form and flying to my hut, missing the frown Gustav gave.
I landed in front of my hut and didn't bother transforming, lifting the door and seeing Hiccup and Tyse. Hiccup was sitting down tinkering with his leg with Toothless sleeping by him and Tyse was writing on one of the research notes. Hopefully it's not anything inappropriate. I stepped inside my hut and with my tail I slammed the door down, scaring both of them. "Did you seriously have to do that!?" Hiccup said glaring at me. "Oh don't you dare glare at me! Not after what you said to Gustav, Hiccup! I will get to you in a moment, Tyse." I growled lowly as Tyse nodded. "Are you serious, Matt? You know Gustav shouldn't have done that!" Hiccup argued. "You shouldn't have scolded him that harshly either! He's only sixteen like I am. He just needs to learn. He needs to be properly guided." I argued back. "Well I hope those dangerous unstable caverns were a perfect teacher to him." Hiccup sarcastically said dryly. "Don't use sarcasm on me, Hiccup! I will punch you in the face!" I growled as my fangs popped out of my gums and eyes turned to slits. "Gustav is an irresponsible, insubordinate, immature, untrustworthy teen who is not ready to be a dragon rider!" Hiccup yelled at me causing me to lift on my hind legs. "And yet Hiccup, the weakest of Vikings in the archipelago, was able to tame the great Night Fury, Toothless and become the first Dragon Rider, the Dragon Conqueror! A runt of the litter and Berk's punching bag became the most 'respected' and leader of the Dragon Riders. The only thing I see is the cold, selfish and sorry excuse of a leader!" I roared in complete anger
Hiccup looked at me in shock before cold fury surrounded him. "Well all I see is a beast who kills dragons and people! All I see is a monster who coldly and emotionlessly kill both human and dragon to their deaths whether it is by blade, tooth, claw, burns, ice, shadows and every ability you have! You murder people!" Hiccup yelled in fury. "I PROTECT PEOPLE! I KILL FOR SURVIVAL! FOR YOU, FOR OUR FRIENDS, FOR BERK! I KILL TO PROTECT OUR PEOPLE AND DRAGONS ALIKE! BUT YOU ARE TOO MUCH OF A PACIFIST TO SEE THAT!" I roared in his face as we glared at each other. "ENOUGH/ENOUGH!" Tyse and Toothless roared at us forcefully splitting us apart. "This has gone far enough! Look at yourselves! You should both be ashamed!" Tyse yelled as we looked away, still angered. "Is this how you speak to each other? With rage and animosity? You are my brothers and it hurts me to see you fight!" Toothless crooned in worry as we looked down guilty. "Nightshift, you had no right to call Hiccup those things to prove a point, even if they were in the past! And Hiccup, you should never have called him a monster! You don't think he feels guilty for every life he has taken!? I killed hundreds of people and dragons and I can still hear their voices in my dreams! Every Shifter has them because we kill to protect our family and ourselves! Wouldn't you if you had no other choice but to kill!?" Tyse screamed as tears fell from her eyes.
We were all silent. Tyse and Toothless looked at us for a reply but didn't get one for a couple of minutes. I tried to speak but my mouth went dry and I closed it, unknowingly Hiccup did the same and tried to speak but he closed his mouth too. After a few couple of minutes, we replied to each other. "I'm sorry, Hiccup/Matt." We said at the same time. We looked at each other and tried to speak again. "Let me go first." We said at the same time again. "Okay, you go first." And again we tried to speak but we spoke at the same time once again. Tyse giggled despite her throat being dry from all the yelling she did. "Hiccup, let me go first." I said as Hiccup nodded. "I'm sorry, Hiccup. I shouldn't have said that to you. I was just mad at how harsh you were with Gustav. You aren't weak or cold. You are a strong and caring leader. It was you that ended the three hundred year war with the dragons and it was you that brought both man and dragon together peacefully. It was you that accepted me into your family and I am proud to be called your brother." I said sincerely, transforming into my human form.
"Matt… I-I'm sorry too." Hiccup stuttered. "I never gave Gustav the chance to be a dragon rider when I was free back then and I shouldn't have been harsh with him. I was worried but that is no excuse for what I said. And for you, you are not a monster, a dragon sure, but not a monster. You kill to protect me and Toothless and the rest of the gang knowing that it will stay with you till the end. You are brave and wise knowing how to resolve disputes without even lifting your finger. You are my greatest friend and my brother. And I could never change that for anything." He says with a smile. We looked at each other with smiles and pulled each other into a hug, tears in our eyes. Tyse cried and created a clone of herself and hugged her as the clone soothes her. Toothless stands there awkwardly but he has a gummy smile on his face.
We pulled away from each other and laughed. "Wow we really need to vent more. Preferably not in each other's faces." I said with a chuckle. "I agree. Maybe I should do what Astrid does. Grab an axe and throw it at every tree I see." Hiccup joked, making me laugh. "You gotta lift it first, noodle arms." I joked back, causing Hiccup to make a fake hurt expression. "These aren't noodle arms. These are the arms of a Viking!" He flexes porely making me burst out laughing. "You call those arms of a Viking? Well these are arms of a dragon." I said flexing causing Hiccup to laugh as well as Toothless. But Tyse? She was blushing madly and a small nosebleed formed. "H-Hot. I-I wonder what his a-abs look like?" She whispered as I blushed. Cursed my dragon hearing. Tyse realized this and ran away transforming into her swarm of Night Terrors and into the sky. I looked back at her clone and she said, "Um, yeah I'm going to go. My original might need me. Bye!" She transforms into a single Night Terror and flew off to join the rest of her pack. I looked at Hiccup and Toothless before we burst out laughing. "That was funny!" "I wouldn't be surprised if every girl you met act like that! Being all shy and staring at your muscles. Hehehe!" "Okay! That's enough Toothless! I don't need any of that!" I said, rolling my eyes. "Don't you still need to talk with Tyse about something?" Hiccup asks, making me remember before shrugging. "I'll ask her tomorrow. Besides, we should get some sleep. Night brothers." I said before walking out of the hut and flying away before suddenly hurryingly back and looking at them. "This is my hut. Get out!" I dramatically pointed at them causing them to snicker but they complied and left to their own hut. I went to my bedroom which was only a wall and a normal door separating my room from my research. I walked inside and headed to the bed. I usually lay on the slab next to it but I need the familiar furs after that drama. "Night Wolf." 'Really? You're not going to talk to me about all that?' Wolf asked as I shrugged. "Nope." 'Well, alright then? Good night, Nightshift.'
I sat there in front of the dragon pens feeding Fanghook thinking about what Hiccup said. "Talk about it in the morning. Like there's anything left to say." I frowned, tossing the fish and watching Fanghook eat it. "That's right! It's not fair. I did everything they asked. I shoveled dragon poop for two years without a single complaint. For what? So they can tell me I'm not good enough?" I said growling in anger. "Well, I am good enough. We're good enough. Matt believes we are good enough. He's the only one that sees our potential." I said, handing the fish in Fanghook's mouth and patting his snout. "And someday they'll find that out, but it'll be too late." I then made a decision. "We're leaving." I ordered and got on Fanghook before flying back to berk. I looked back one last time, directly at Matt's hut. 'Prove yourself to you. Be the best dragon rider you can be. After all those secret meetings with Fanghook should have taught you something, right?' "I will be the best dragon rider I can be. I promise, Matt." I said one last time before looking ahead.
Fanghook and I flew for ten minutes and I was monologuing to myself. "They're gonna be so sorry when they wake up in the morning and see that we're gone. Once they realize that we're missing, they're gonna be begging us to come back to Dragon's Edge. Those huts were lame anyway besides Matt's. I can't wait to get back to my-" Suddenly a net was thrown in front of us. "Whoa! Fanghook, dive!" I said panicky as we dodged it. "Ha ha! Missed!" I laughed before another net was thrown at us. I screamed as the net wrapped around Fanghook and we fell towards the ship. I tried to cut us out with my knife but the rope was tough to cut through. I looked down and screamed before we hit the water.
I groaned as I became conscious again and realized I'm on a boat. I then realized I was surrounded by a dozen Berserker men and Fanghook was caged. I glared at them and crossed my arms. How did it come to this? "Haha! We captured a Dragon Rider." I heard before hearing another voice laugh crazily. "Which one is it? Oh, I sure hope it's brother Hiccup or Matt. Or I suppose the girl would work, too." "Which girl?" The first said. "There's more than one?" The second man questioned in confusion. Wow this guy must be dumb. The two men pushed through the men surrounding me and looked at me confusedly. "This is not one of Hiccup's Dragon Riders." He said to the first man pointing at me. "Who are you?" He said slowly approaching me. "Larsen, Gustav Larsen. And that's all you're getting out of me." I answered looking away in defiance.
He scratched his chin a bit in thought before shrugging in acceptance. "Hmm. Fine, feed him to the eels." He answered, making me look at him in panic as two of his men grabbed me and took me over to the side of the boat. "But I know Hiccup and Matt, I know the Dragon Riders, and I have information!" I said desperately as they almost threw me overboard before dropping me back on the ground. "Oh?" The man said, strolling towards me and grabbing my face. "What kind of information?" He asked. "I can get you the Dragon Eye." I revealed and tried to look away but he forced my eyes on him again. "And what's the Dragon Eye?" He questioned. I pointed behind him. "That. That's the Dragon Eye." I said as he let go and turned his head to see the image of the Dragon Eye. He starts snickering and laughs before turning to his men. "Put him in a comfortable place. He's our guest." He says to his men as they nod.
It is morning and I was enjoying the feast in front of me. There was chicken, cheese, yak milk, mead, and boar meat. A feast worthy of the gods. I smacked my lips finishing my fourth chicken leg before tossing the chicken in my hand to Fanghook who happily gobbles it up. I drank some yak milk before belching in satisfaction. "So, are you enjoying your meal?" The man who was actually Dagur the Deranged asked. I nodded with my mouth full, happy about the meal. "Good. Good, good, good, good, good. So, here's the plan. We'll draw Hiccup and the Night Fury into the open as well as Matt, neutralize the other riders and seize the Dragon Eye by lethal force, as if there is any other type of force. I mean really come on. Then the Dragon Eye will be mine." Dagur says with a victorious smile of his plan, but it wasn't a good plan. "Yeah, that's one way to do it. And you might get the Dragon Eye." I started. "Or Hiccup could crush you just like every other time you faced off against him and Matt will destroy your ships and rip your men to pieces." I ended, causing the man, Savage, to lift his sword but Dagur stopped him. "Mm. You have a better idea, Gustav?" He questioned. "Can you hand me the sauce, please?" I asked as Savage passed it to me. "I do, one that will guarantee Hiccup and Matt delivers the Dragon Eye right to us." I said with a smirk pouring the sauce on my chicken. "More mutton thigh, friend?" He asks with a smirk. "Mm-hmm." I answered and stabbed the chicken.
Toothless, Hiccup and I landed in the dome looking at the other Dragon Riders if they had seen Gustav. "Anything?" Hiccup asked worriedly. I looked at Hiccup and I know that he feels guilty about Gustav. 'I hope he's alright.' 'I'm sure he'll be fine. He has Fanghook with him.' Wolf reassured me but I still have my doubts. "I checked the clubhouse, your hut, even the stables. He's not there." Astrid answered as both Fishlegs and the Twins arrived on their dragons. "Nothing else is on fire around here, so he must be gone." Fishlegs said dismounting Meatlug. "Well, we have to find him." Hiccup says. "Or… do we?" Tuffnut says as Snotlout agrees with him. "Yeah, why are we worried? Shouldn't we be celebrating the fact that he's gone?" Snotlout asked as I growled at him. "Don't be heartless, Snotlout! We need to make sure that he's safe." I said out of annoyance. "Well, we could ask Fanghook." Ruffnut said as I felt a familiar presence approaching us. "And, Ruffnut, how do you suppose we do that?" Snotlout asked stupidly. "Turn around." Ruffnut replied with a smirk as we turned around to find Fanghook landing in front of us panting.
Toothless approached him quickly and questioned him. "Fanghook? You alright? Where's your rider? What happened?" Toothless growled in worry. "Fanghook, where's Gustav, boy? Where's Gustav?" Tufffnut questioned as Fanghook groans. Tuffnut groans in frustration. "Ah! He's not talking, you guys. He's completely shut down. Typical." He says walking away as Hiccup calms him down. "Hey, hey, Fanghook. Hey, it's okay. Easy, boy, easy." "He doesn't look injured." I said observing for any sign of injuries. "But he's definitely upset." Fishlegs said before noticing something on Fanghook's right horn. "You guys look." Pointing at the object as I untie it from Fanghook's horn. Before I could read it, Tyse's swarm came and transformed back to her human form and ran in front of us. "Nightshift, Hiccup! My selves scattered across the islands in search of Gustav when we spotted Dagur's ships. He has him, he has him prisoner on his ship. I hurried as fast as I could to tell you what I just saw." Tyse panted as I read the message. "Tyse's right. Dagur wants to trade the Dragon Eye for Gustav. He must have captured him when he tried to get home but was stopped." I said as we worried about what Dagur could do to Gustav. "Then let's save him." Fishlegs answered in worry but I shook my head. "Dagur wants Hiccup and me to go alone. If any sign of you are spotted except for Hiccup and me then they will surely kill Gustav. We're not going to risk that." I answered as we prepared for Dagur's ship to rescue Gustav.
"I don't like this, you two." Astrid warned as she and our friends approached. "Well, we have no choice." Hiccup answered. "You sure we have no choice? Like, none? Zip? Zilch?" Tuffnut clarified. "This is all my fault anyway." Hiccup said, looking at them sadly. "Ninguno?" Tuffnut said as I looked at him strangely. 'Was that Spanish he just spoke? Where did he hear that from.' 'Probably from Johann.' "I never even gave the kid a chance." Hiccup continues. "Ni Portugal?" Tuffnut says this time. 'Portuguese now?' "Tuff, that's really not helping at all." Hiccup says, looking at him. "Yeah." He agrees. "If I wasn't so busy tinkering with this thing, I don't know, maybe I could've kept him busy." "And busy you mean giving him actual guidance, right?" I asked for confirmation. "Uh, yeah, nobody can keep Gustav busy." "Because they don't have the patience to try, Fishlegs." I said, frowning at him. "At least let us back you up out there." Astrid pleaded as we shook our heads. "Dagur was very clear. We have to come alone. We don't know what he'll do to Gustav if we don't follow his demands to the letter. No, we can't risk it." Hiccup says before I noticed Tyse wasn't with them. "Where's Tyse?" I asked where the frightening illusionist was. "She says that she's going to make a Plan B if you come back without Gustav. I hope it involves fire and destruction." Tuffnut chuckles evilly rubbing his hands together along with his sister. "Well hopefully it won't come to that. We'll be careful, we promise." Hiccup says before flying away.
Unknown to us however, Tyse wasn't making a Plan B but was stealthily following us. She was on one of the ocean stones around the island as she watched us fly. "You may be able to sense other beings but you need to train on those that actually know how to hide." She says as a Scauldron arises from the water beside her. "Mistress Tyse. Protector of the forests and waters surrounding the island. We go?" The Scauldron crooned as Tyse nodded and got on his back. "Yes, WaveSinger. Follow them. Once we get close to the eel filled waters I will continue to follow them without you. Now let's go." Tyse says as the Scauldron dives into the waters with Tyse as they follow both me and Hiccup.
After spotting Dagur's ship we flew towards them and landed threateningly as I transformed into my human form and took out my blade, Yolsilnah(Yol Sil Nah). "Fanghook." Gustav exclaimed, running towards Fanghook. "Oh. I was worried about you, boy." He says hugging his dragon. This was a happy moment until someone rudely interrupted it. "Aww, dragon and Dragon Rider love." Says happily before scowling. "Makes me want to hurl. Blech!" Toothless and I growled as we noticed dagur's men surrounding us. I could easily take them but Gustav could get hurt. I can't risk it. "Yeah, I see 'em, bud." Hiccup comforts Toothless before yelling at Gustav. "Gustav, are you okay?" Gustav nods before Dagur pushes him away and walks closer to us. I leveled Yolsilnah towards his chest making him stop with a smirk. "That's close enough, Dagur. Don't want to accidently cut yourself now, do you?" I questioned with a raised eyebrow. "Oh, wow. Where's the trust? After all we've been through together?" Dagur asked, acting like he was hurt by my comment. We stare at him coldly in response. "No? Nothing? No Hiccupy barbs, quips, snappy comebacks? No Matty growls, screeches, decapitations? But I really love those. Especially the decapitations. We've developed such a nice shorthand, you and I." He says with a psychotic smile.
"And I developed a longhand sword that can slice through both muscle, bones and organs." I said cheerfully before getting serious. "Now send Gustav and Fanghook over." I ordered. "You first." Dagur says smiling and pointing at us. I glance at Hiccup as he glares at Dagur. "You have no choice. One false move and my men will take out you, the Night Fury and the kid! So roll it over and I'll let him go." He says as I glance at Savage. He's too close to Gustav. By the time I throw my sword at him, he'll kill Gustav. Even if I kill him, one of Dagur's men will kill him with their crossbows. Hiccup looks at Gustav as he nods, causing Hiccup to roll over the Dragon Eye where Dagur picks it up and observes it with glee. "Oh. It… It really is one beautiful artifact. And I hear it can be very useful to those who possess it? Hmm? Is that true?" Dagur asked us as I replied. "The fun part is figuring out on your own. Gustav? Let's go."
Gustav looks at us and seems to have a hard time saying something before his answer shocks us. "Yeah, about that, Hiccup. I've been treated much better by these guys than I ever was treated by you and the Dragon Riders." He says glaring and looking away. WHAT!? Dagur laughs and rubs his hands out of excitement. "And the plot thickens!" We looked at Gustav shocked before slightly glaring. "Gustav." Hiccup says as I growl slightly. "You could've given me a chance, you know? All you guys ever did was tell me I wasn't good enough, that I didn't belong. Well, I belong here." Gustav says glaring at us. I walked a couple of steps forward to Gustav threateningly. "Gustav, do not be stupid right now. You have no idea what you are doing right now." I said glaring at him. "Oh, yes, I do, Matt. I know exactly what I'm doing." Gustav argued as we glared at one another. "Awkward." Dagur said singsong before speaking normally. "Well, I'd say your work is finished here, brothers. Ordinarily, this is where I would double-cross you both and fill you full of arrows. But the kid is squeamish. He made me promise to let you go, and in return, he's gonna take me to a treasure." Dagur says, walking beside Gustav. "That's right, Hiccup. We have the Dragon Eye and Fanghook's fire. And you know what that means." He pauses as Fanghook growls. "Untold treasure awaits." He ends as I unnoticeably glanced at Hiccup who does the same to me. Clever Gustav. Very clever. I transformed into my Night Fury form and Hiccup mounts Toothless as we glare at Gustav. "You're going to regret this." Hiccup says glaringly. "I don't think so, Hiccup." Gustav says with a smirk as we fly away. I glanced at Hiccup and he nodded as we headed to a certain island we know they are going to.
(Warning blood-you think I should change the rating to a M?)
Back on the ship in the very back, one of the guards was patrolling before he heard a splash near the boat. "Huh?" He walked towards the side of the boat and looks down and before he reacted a black curved dagger pierced through his mouth and ended through the top of his head, his eyes bulging in shock as blood flowed from his mouth and head before being pulled quickly into the side. On the water surface, the dark water turned to a dark red. A few moments later a hooded Tyse climbs over with glowing yellow eyes as she licks her dagger clean of blood. "Not a bad taste. It's nice to kill again." She chuckles before her eyes flashed before her entire body changes into the same guard she just killed. "There we go. I still got it." She said in a deep masculine voice as her eyes flash before turning into a brown color and starts patrolling the ship. Too easy.
"This is it." I said with a smirk stopping. "Why are we stopping?" Dagur questioned as I shrugged. "No reason. I was just kind of impressed that you trust your men enough to show them exactly where the treasure is hidden." I said before quietly saying, "Especially when there's so much of it." I said as I walked forward and heard Dagur saying, "Stay here." "Why?" Savage questioned as Dagur thought a little. "Oh, uh, let's see, uh… I don't know. Maybe because…" Then he shouted at the end. "I SAID SO!" Then he walks away to catch up with me and I show him the map to the treasure. I can't believe my plan worked so far to get Dagur alone. I hope Hiccup and Matt are here to save me.
Unknown to me and everyone else, one of Dagur's men's eyes flashed yellow as a small smirk forms on him as he reaches behind his back and slightly pulls his tunic upwards, revealing one of Tyse's daggers.
As we headed deeper inside, the caverns rumbled unstable as we stopped for a moment. "So, uh, does that happen a lot?" Dagur questions, slightly concerned about the quakes. "You get used to it." I answered as we continued walking. A few minutes later, Dagur questions me if we're there yet. "We're close, very close." I answered looking at him before looking forward. "Good, that's what I wanted to hear." He says as he chuckles, cuing me to spray him in light and run. "Oh, bright light, bright light, bright light!" He gasps and starts looking for me. "Come out, come out, wherever you are!" Dagur yells before the caverns start rumbling again as I hold on to my hiding spot. I was hiding behind one of the rocks when I noticed I didn't hear Dagur. I peaked from my hiding spot to look for him but when I looked back he was right in front of me! "Gotcha!" He says victorious before hearing a familiar chuckle. "Nope, you fell into our trap." Matt says making Dagur turn to find a smirking Matt, Fanghook, A glaring Hiccup, and Toothless who's ready to fire one of his plasma blasts. "Good work, Gustav." Hiccup says with a smile causing Gustav to smile as well. "Oh, what's the matter, Dagur? No barbs, no comebacks? I thought we had a shorthand, I thought you loved that stuff." Hiccup smirks as I snicker before Dagur grabs Gustav, throws him at us and in the process takes the Dragon Eye in his hand and tosses up and down laughing at us.
"Oh Dagur, hand over the Dragon Eye nicely before you suddenly find your hand cut off." I said with a fanged smile as Yolsilnah shines on its sharp surface. "I don't think so." Dagur chortles as Toothless gets ready to fire. "We're not asking." Hiccup challengingly said as Toothless hits the ground and reveals a deep pit of darkness. "Oh. It's a long way down, isn't it?" Dagur says dodging multiple blasts from Toothless. "Dagur, you've got nowhere to go. It's over." Hiccup says glaring as Dagur smirks holding the Dragon Eye. "It's over? Really? Whoops." He then drops it in the deep. "Oh, no! Ah!" Gustav then dives in to save it. "Gustav!" Hiccup and I yelled as we jumped in to save him. Unfortunately Dagur used that to escape laughing but we didn't know that he'll be met with a dangerous adversary.
"Hahahahaha! It's a shame that I don't have the Dragon Eye anymore but I'll get it back." Dagur laughs exiting the cave when he sees the chaos happening. "What the!?" He gasps as he sees most of his men dead on the ground with deep lacerations and cuts through the neck and even one had his neck twisted in an unnatural angle. "Savage! What's going on!?" Dagur demanded watching his second in command running towards him. "She just appeared out of nowhere! One second she was standing there, the second one of the men's throat was cut wide open! We gotta get out of here!" Savage yells before a cry of pain was heard. Dagur and Savage turned to see five of Dagur's men fighting Tyse as she laughed, cutting one of them on the arm. The man screamed in pain as he swung overhead but Tyse twisted her body to the left and jammed her dagger into his side, twisted and pulled, lifting the man up and slamming him on the ground before ripping her dagger out, leaving a giant hole in the man side revealing ribs and tissue as blood flows onto the sand.
Two of the men roared and swung at the Illusionist on both sides but Tyse blocked both attacks with her daggers, shocking the men because they didn't expect two flimsy daggers to block the full swing of steel. Tyse laughed before twisting her wrists, waving the blades away from herself and stabbing the man on the right, right in the stomach and cleanly cutting upwards, spilling his intestines out and revealing his heart and lungs. Tyse left her right dagger inside of the standing dead man and ducked, dodging a side swing from the man on the left. Tyse swung her left leg forward, snapping the man's knee making him fall, screaming in pain, before she spun her left dagger at his neck, slicing through as blood fountains from his neck as he held it from dying out.
Tyse rolls away when a mace is left where she just was. She throws her dagger in a spinning motion towards him, but he dodges and smirks. But Tyse smiles sinisterly because like a boomerang, her right dagger comes back, slicing through the back of his neck to the front before being caught by her. The man's eyes bulged before they rolled in the back of his head as his head fell off and onto the ground before his body joined him.
Tyse looks at the final man with blood on her face as he shakes in fear. She smiles psychotically before dropping her dagger, leaving her unarmed. The last man gained some courage and charged at her, swinging upwards to kill. Tyse back flips and lands back on her feet as the man continues to charge. He swings downwards, but she steps to the side and strikes his chest with her fist. The sound of bones breaking is heard as the man gasps and holds his chest in pain. Tyse laughs mockingly as the man let go of his chest and roars but she jumps over him, spinning and lands on his shoulders. Her legs wraps around his head and with a smile she twists and snaps the man's neck.
He falls forwards slowly and Tyse gracefully lands standing there looking directly at Dagur and Savage. "Hello! Do you want to play too?" Her voice echoes as she uses her powers to make her face splits apart to reveal bloody flesh and teeth and sings. "Blood blood blood! Watch where you leap, watch where you sleep, watch where you weep. Watch as death comes for thee! Hahahahaha!" She laughs psychotically before reappearing right in front of them inches apart. "Boo."
Dagur and Savage screamed in horror as they run back on the ship as Tyse laughs madly watching them run for their lives. She continues to laugh as they sail away until they couldn't be seen again. Tyse slowly stops laughing and sighs. Her eyes flashes and her face is back to normal. "That was fun. Couldn't say the same for the dead." Tyse shakes her head as she retrieves her daggers from the corpses and transforms into her swarm form and flies back to the Edge.
We came back safely and unharmed but Gustav has to go back to Berk. We came out to say goodbye to him. Astrid approached first. "Gustav, I-" Astrid begun only to be interrupted by Gustav's finger to the lips. She didn't like that and neither did I. "Uh-uh, stop right there, sweets. I can't stay. My mom would kill me. She usually notices I've been gone after about three days. All right, Fanghook, let's go. You take care, babe. Don't worry, Gustav will be back soon!" Gustav mounts his dragon and flies away back to berk. Hiccup opens a chest we found with Gustav and Astrid questioned what it was. "Oh, just something we found at the bottom of that cave." Hiccup reveals a Dragon Eye lens. "Oh, a new lens!" Fishlegs squealed in excitement as I nod. "Yep, there was treasure in those caves after all. The Dragon Eye was giving us clues on how to find all along. We just weren't looking in the right place." Hiccup says, handing me the lens as I look at it. "And if there one, that means there are more to find." I said as Fishlegs laughs. "Huh. And to think, we never would've found that without Gustav." Astrid says with a smile as I jokingly say, "Great, lets go tell him." I earned instant denials making me laugh. We all waved goodbye to Gustav before he's out of sight.
We were about to leave until Fishlegs screams and points to reveal Tyse, covered head and toe in blood. "Oh gods!" Fishlegs says covering his mouth to avoid throwing up. "What?" She says before looking at her arm. "Oh don't worry. It's not mine." She says with a smile before I picked her up by the hood and dragged her towards the ocean and throw her in making her scream. I looked back at them and said, "Let's forget any of that happened." I said rubbing the back of my neck. Jeez Tyse.
Okay this chapter was more bloody than the other chapters. Now we know Tyse on a personal level. And by level I mean how scary and terrifying she is in combat. Should I change the rating into a M for future chapters? We'll see in the next chapter I guess. Putting that aside, I hope you loved this chapter and can't wait for the next one! Don't forget to follow and comment! To the Great Beyond!
