Welcome back. Last chapter came a bit late and this one is ready when I said it be. I hope you've all had a good week and enjoyed the last chapter. Anyways the plot will be moving forward quickly, now that we've gotten pass the academy thank god! Today we see the bell test and the brutal realization of D Rank Missions!Without further interruptions, enjoy the read!
Chapter 8: The Ultimate Test
Naruto woke himself up at a bright and early Six in the morning. He got in the shower and washed, while a clone made breakfast. Naruto ate his breakfast.
"Kakashi-Sensei advised us to not eat breakfast, nothing about ordering us not to." Naruto said to his clone, still eating his food.
"The only set back I see is Sakura. She doesn't take training seriously enough. She's more worried about being 'perfect' for Sasuke." The clone told his creator.
"Yeah, she doesn't even realize Sasuke doesn't like her in the slightest. He obviously wants a serious Kunoichi to rebuild his clan with." The original stated. The clone stopped and started wondering.
"Wait, what kind of girl would we be interested in?" The clone asked the Blonde. Naruto sat and thought about that while eating.
"Go get my clothes ready. We don't have time to think about our love life. Not yet anyways." Naruto said. The clone grumbled something about 'lazy bastard' and walked off to do as he was told. Naruto finished the remainder of his food and went to his room to get ready. As he got to his room he seen what his clone laid out.
"Wow, I hate him." Naruto said as he seen the dark assortment of clothes that didn't match on his bed. He looked at the clock and the time was 6:50am. He didn't have time to switch so he put on his dark red T shirt over a black mesh shit with his dark camouflage cargo pants and navy blue sandals. "Why did I even buy the camouflage pants for?" Naruto asked himself. He ran out the apartment and arrived at the training fields.
"Naruto, what are you wearing?" Sakura asked. Sasuke looked over and smirked. The two of them were sitting. Sasuke was brooding near a tree and Sakura was sitting on a rock.
"My stupid shadow clone laid these out while I was eating." Naruto replied. Sakura looked puzzled while the last Uchiha was trying to holding his laugh back.
"How does that even work anyways?" Sakura asked, "Like how does your clones do stuff for you?"
"Well, Kakashi-Sensei taught this specific type of clone to me a while back actually. I have too much chakra to perform a standard clone no matter what chakra control I have. These clones have their own thoughts and can move freely from me. Sometimes they can be assholes." Naruto explained. He sat down next to Sakura.
"So, how did your clothes end up like this?" Sakura asked. Sasuke has been waiting for this explanation.
"So, I told me to grab some clothes and lay them out for me and he grumbled and called me lazy. I also made him cook me breakfast. So, I guess this is revenge." Naruto told her. Sasuke laughed.
"Ha, only an idiot like you would fight yourself this early in the morning. I hope Kakashi makes you puke too." Sasuke said jokingly.
"How is your Rasengan training going?" Naruto asked. He didn't even want to feed into Sasuke's jokes this early in the morning. Sasuke took a serious expression.
"I'm down to three seconds but that's as far as I can go for now." Sasuke admitted. Naruto was impressed Sasuke could keep up giving his chakra reserves wasn't as big as his own.
"That's great. I'm at 2 and a half seconds currently." Naruto stated. Sakura was confused.
"What's a Rasengan?" She asked. Naruto and Sasuke looked at her with puzzling looks. Sasuke decided to answer her.
"Naruto's father was an incredible shinobi who developed the Rasengan and his teleportation Jutsu. He taught it to his master, who is now teaching us. The only reason I'm learning is due to Naruto bringing me along for the training." Sasuke answered before she could ask why he was learning it.
"Oh." Sakura said. "Wait, it's 7:20 now and Kakashi-Sensei still ain't here?" She asked her teammates.
Naruto and Sasuke shrugged. Naruto went with Sasuke to train on throwing Kunais while Sakura watched. After a few hours Kakashi finally arrived to see two sweaty boys and a tired girl. "YOU'RE LATE!" Sakura yelled at the man.
"Ah, well you see, a black cat crossed my path so I had to take the extra long way to get here as to not catch bad luck." Kakashi said nonchalantly. Naruto and Sasuke eye rolled at the obvious lie. 'Obito would've loved that one.' Kakashi thought to himself.
"LIAR!" Sakura yelled. Kakashi, Naruto, and Sasuke had to grab their ears to stop the ringing from Sakura's loud voice.
"Anyways, let's get started." Kakashi said. He pulled out two bells and said, "These are the bells you'll have to gather from me. You get them from me before 12pm and you pass."
"There's only two bells." Sasuke pointed out. Naruto's eyes narrowed on this fact as well.
Naruto started to think. 'Two bells? But there's three of us. That would me-'
"One of you is headed back to the academy while the other two get the privilege of training under me." Kakashi stated. "Also the test starts now. It's 10:30 now which means you have 1 hour and thirty minutes to retrieve these bells." Kakashi added.
The Genin gasped at this fact. Sakura and Sasuke hid in a bush while Naruto and Kakashi eyes each other. "Alright then, I'll be catching up on reading while you try whatever you want." Kakashi said as he pulled a book with an orange cover out. Naruto created 5 shadow clones to go after Kakashi.
The clones rush in at Kakashi and Kakashi easily sweeps them all away one by one immediately. Naruto sucked his teeth. 'Damn Kakashi is going to be a handful. I'll have to use a variety of Seals to hold him back and get the bell.' Naruto thought to himself. Naruto sends six more Shadow Clones at Kakashi while the original draws up seals to use against the Jonin.
Kakashi sees the six clones rushing in. "You know, I'm starting to feel offended that you keep sending these clones at me Naruto." Kakashi told the clones knowing the information would transfer to the original after he destroys the clone. The first clone attacks Kakashi with basic taijutsu and lands no hits. Kakashi grabbed the clone and tossed it into two other clones. One of the clones just barely dodges the flying clone Kakashi threw.
"Guys, we need to be smarter!" One of the clones yelled out to the other remaining clones. Kakashi runs at the clones and throws shuriken. Two of the clones gets hit and disperses. The remaining three clones used a kunai to deflect the incoming shuriken. The clones surround Kakashi in a triangle like shape. "NOW!" one of the clones yelled. The three clones threw a variety of shurikens and kunais at the masked Jonin.
Sasuke watched and analyzed the match from where he was hiding. 'Kakashi seems to have a high battle IQ. The clones Naruto is using isn't even fazing Kakashi. The original Naruto is drawing up his fuinjutsu. I wonder what he's going to do.' Sasuke thought to himself. He watched as Kakashi dealt with two more clones.
"And done! Let's see how Kakashi deals with this now!" The original Naruto said aloud. Naruto gathered the seals he just made and ran to position himself. Meanwhile Kakashi destroys the remaining clone.
"Naruto, are you going to keep these useless clones after me? I know you've been training seriously for a few years, so why don't you show me the results of this training." Kakashi speaks out in the opening. Naruto hid in a tree and prepared his first seal.
"Go now! Quicksand seal!" Naruto yells out as he throws a paper seal with a kunai. Kakashi jumps to avoid the kunai. The kunai hits the ground, and the paper seal opens up with a bunch of quicksand quickly transforming a small area into a quicksand pit.
'Fuinjutsu? Quicksand is forming below? I'll have to use the Substitution Jutsu.' Kakashi thinks to himself. Kakashi switches places with a log and the log is consumed by the quicksand. 'That was close. Looks like I'll have to take it up a-' Kakashi's thoughts was interrupted by a screaming blonde.
"Seal of Mud!" Naruto threw yet another seal. This one covered the Jonin in mud. "Feathers unseal!" Naruto called out. As he did so, another paper seal flew towards Kakashi and a ton of feathers flew out covering the Jonin. Naruto started laughing while the hiding Sasuke and Sakura sweat dropped at his antics. "How you like that Kakashi-Sensei?" Naruto asked.
The Kakashi Naruto was looking popped into smoke and Naruto's eyes went wide looking where the log is. 'Dammit. I don't think any one of us is defeating him individually.' Naruto felt something where he shouldn't.
"Lesson one: Taijutsu! Konohagakure Hiden Secret Taijutsu Technique: One Thousand Years of Death!" Naruto heard the silver haired Jonin yell right behind him. Naruto turned with wide eyes to see Kakashi's index and middle finger go up his rectum. Naruto flew into the sky from the pain and landed somewhere in the woods. Kakashi then pulled his orange book back out. "Time to catch up on some reading." He spoke to no one in particular.
'Did he just?' 'Oh my god that's disgusting!' The two other Team Seven members thought. Sasuke ran out the bush he was hiding to approach Kakashi. Kakashi was still reading his book.
"I'm sorry to tell you this, but you'll have to put that book away again." Sasuke said smugly. Kakashi kept looking at his book. Sasuke gritted his teeth. "Fine, I guess I'll show you myself." Sasuke started to run with some shurikens in his hands. Kakashi kept reading as Sasuke charged in.
Sasuke threw every shuriken at Kakashi and each one hit its intentes target. Sakura got worried the Sasuke just killed their Sensei. That was until a log took its place. Kakashi appeared besides Sakura. "That looked like it hurt, didn't it?" Kakashi asked the girl. The girl didn't even realize it until Kakashi spoke that he was next to her. She slowly turned her head and seen Kakashi standing there with an eye smile. "You guys suck." He told her, "if you keep hiding, how are you going to get a bell? If Naruto and Sasuke, who are physically stronger than you, can't get a bell on their own then what are you going to do?" Kakashi questioned. The girl sat there now thinking about what Kakashi said as he left the bush they were in.
"Emo, good aim. Although, you're still lacking in efficiency. I've seen far more Uchiha throw shuriken faster and more precise. Let's start with Lesson Two: Ninjutsu." Kakashi said knowing it would get under the skin of Sasuke.
"Oh yeah?" Sasuke challenged. The raven hair boy went through a few hand signs and called out the infamous Uchiha Jutsu. "Fire Style: Great Fireball Jutsu!" Sasuke called out as a raging ball of fire flew towards Kakashi with Sasuke still feeding the Jutsu. Kakashi's eyes went wide when Sasuke used the fire release.
'Hmm, already knows the fire style, huh?' Kakashi thought as he too ran through hand signs. "Earth Style: Mud Wall!" Kakashi called out as a wall of mud, dirt, and stone cover his position. The raging inferno hit the wall and was blocked completely. However, Sasuke kept feeding the Jutsu. The wall Kakashi was hiding behind started to crack and get hot. The flames where extremely hot and engulfed the wall. 'Well, that was unexpected. He is using a lot of Chakra to make this justu stronger, but the drawback is the amount of chakra he'll have chakra exhaustion. I got to stop this." Kakashi thought to himself. "Water Style: Water Dragon Jutsu!" Kakashi called out drenching the scorching hot flames out and hitting Sasuke as well.
Sasuke was knocked back by the water style. When he got up Kakashi was nowhere to be seen. 'Damn. I used a lot of chakra like an idiot on that last attack.' Sasuke berated himself. Sasuke heard Sakura scream.
"That is Lesson 3: Genjutsu." Kakashi said to the now motionless girl. Sasuke ran to where the noise was coming and seen Kakashi.
"Oh, so you have finally caught up." Kakashi said. Sasuke cooled down, knowing that if he were to rush in he would just get a repeat of last time.
"I'm not like the rest!" Sasuke stated arrogantly. Kakashi put his book down and looked at Sasuke.
"Yeah, you're too arrogant. Alrighty then, which will it be? One arm or one leg?" Kakashi asked. Sasuke looked at him confused. "My apologies, I mean do you want me to use one arm or one leg to fight you." Kakashi reiterated. Sasuke started to lose his patience with this man.
"You will fight me as you would fight an elite Uchiha such as myself. I didn't train with Jiraiya of the Sannin for nothing!" Sasuke said. Kakashi was surprised at this remark.
'Lord Jiraiya? Training Sasuke as well? I could've sworn he was just training Naruto. I wonder what changed.' Kakashi thought to himself. "Oh, so you think you're better than everyone because you trained under an elite shinobi, such as Jiraiya of the Sannin. Well news flash Emo, to be strong you need: Something precious to protect The Will of Fire Experience with being humbled to = strong. Once you have this, you are strong. As you are now, you wouldn't have even touched me as a kid." Kakashi told the boy harshly.
Sasuke charged in at Kakashi. He ran in with a punch which Kakashi jumped out the way. Sasuke went for a kick which Kakashi blocked with one arm. Sasuke went for another punch which Kakashi dropped his new student's leg and grabbed his hang with the same hand again. Sasuke went for another kick with his other leg which nailed Kakashi on his shoulder and sent him some distance away. Sasuke ran through a bunch of hand signs once again. "Fire Style: Dragon Flame Jutsu!" Sasuke called out. A blast of Fire came out and roared to life with its burning hot flames. The flames flew to Kakashi and consumed him. Sasuke let the Jutsu cook Kakashi for a 10 seconds before he ran out of chakra. "There. That should've handled him." Sasuke says to himself. When Sasuke looks at where Kakashi was, he seen the lifeless body on the scorched ground. That was until the body became a poof a smoke.
"Earth Style: Head Hunter Jutsu!" Sasuke heard from below. Sasuke felt his new Sensei's hands grab his leg and drag him down! Sasuke screamed at this and Kakashi appeared before the newly groundhog Uchiha. "There, now you just need some bees and pollen to make you a pretty little flower." Kakashi said tauntingly. "In all seriousness Sasuke, you are limiting yourself. To become a better and stronger shinobi the path of revenge will never help you. You won't get stronger,in fact you're only holding yourself back the way you are now. I suspect Lord Jiraiya is training you right now due to all that hatred you have. He probably wants to get rid of it." Kakashi informs the last Uchiha. "Look how far Naruto's come in the last few years. You think he was holding a grudge to get this far? I've seen what he's accomplished and he's doing a damn good job so far. I know how good you could be. I've seen your family members and clansmen grow to new heights that hasn't been seen since the time of the Great Warring Period. You got to cool down first though." Kakashi said. Kakashi then walked away to go find his blonde student. 'Where are you now Naruto?' Kakashi thinks to himself as he leaves the emo boy behind.
"Psst," Sasuke heard from his right. "Sasuke, I think we need to help each other defeat Kakashi." Naruto said.
Sasuke huffed and puffed. "Never. I'll defeat him myself or did you forget? I'm trying to surpass you and everyone else in this village." Sasuke stated.
Naruto shrugged, "Alrighty then. I'll come back. Imma try my Rasengan on him." Naruto stated. Sasuke was baffled.
'Did he really learn it?' Sasuke asked himself. Naruto walked away in the direction Kakashi was. Naruto knew this would trigger the boy into getting out to help. Naruto hadn't even mastered the other steps yet that wasn't even revealed to them both. Naruto sure loved to prank people, even after refining himself so much within the last year.
Naruto found Kakashi reading once again in a tree. "You just never stop reading that huh? When we first met you were reading that. How could you still be reading that?" Naruto asked the cyclops.
"Well, I like to reread to see if I missed anything. I like to pay attention to it so I don't miss any other meanings behind the story." Kakashi said.
Naruto stood there wondering what his Sensei meant. 'Is he giving me a hint?' That's when Naruto felt something wrap around his ankles and drag him up. A rope was tied around his ankles dangling him from the tree Kakashi was sitting in. He watched as Kakashi dropped down.
"Hmm, you should probably watch your step Naruto. I believe the Fourth Hokage once did this to my teammate Obito." Kakashi stated. Naruto used a kunai to cut the rope. Naruto landed on his feet.
"Yeah? We'll take this!" Naruto threw a three prong kunai at Kakashi but missed. Kakashi watched his old sensei's kunai fly pass him. He watched the kunai instead of Naruto. That's when the cyclops heard something that terrified him. "Shadow Clone Jutsu!" Naruto yelled out. Kakashi turned to see 10 other Naruto's all rushing in. They were too close to block all of their attacks and disperse them. He was hit with a barrage of punches, kicks, and elbows. That's when he seen the original Naruto with a paper bomb and a smirk that would make the devil shiver. That's when the other clones also pulled out paper bombs. Kakashi wasn't ready for this and started to prepare for the attack.
An explosion took place blasting Naruto back into a tree rendering him unconscious. Kakashi, however, braced for the explosion and was now on one knee trying to catch his breath. 'He used the Flying Thunder God Kunai to distract me and used a bunch of paper bombs to take both of us out the battle. What an interesting tactic.' Kakashi stated. Kakashi walked up to Naruto grabbed him and carried him to a post. He took rope out and tied the boy. "I'll lecture him when he wakes up." Kakashi told himself. That's when he hears the two other genin run at him. Unfortunately for them the timer went off signaling they failed.
"Dammit!" Sasuke shouted. Sakura's head hung low and Naruto was still unconscious.
"Well, the three of you failed to grab the bells, so you fail." Kakashi said. Sakura looked up to see the bells she couldn't even get close too. Then it hit her.
"Where are the bells Kakashi-sensei?" Sakura asked. Kakashi looked down and realized he didn't have them and a seal was now taking their place.
"They're right here." Naruto said as he spat the bells out. "Quickly grab them Sasuke and Sakura!" Naruto called out.
Kakashi was baffled, as was Sasuke. "How?" Questioned The Uchiha.
"Well, that last explosion did hurt. I decided I would play dead or unconscious to gain an opportunity. When Kakashi draped me over his shoulder I grabbed the bells and replaced them with a weight seal of what the bells would feel like and I put them in my mouth while he tied me up." Naruto explained.
"Well, I guess you three pass." Kakashi said as the team celebrated. "Don't celebrate too much. We will meet back here tomorrow morning at 8am to go get a mission." Kakashi said right before he left leaving a swirl of leaves behind.
The three genin celebrated their passing after untying Naruto. The three went to the Ramen stand and got some food. After eating the three went their separate ways until tomorrow.
The next chapter is going to be a side character story as it gives me a bit of a break to do some schoolwork. This chapter was originally going to feature some boring D rank missions, however I decided to add more detail to the bell test instead. The Side Character Story will be on Itachi Uchiha as I'm building him up earlier. I wanted to do this one on Tsunade or Gaara but it's still too early to do so. Itachi also just happens to be one of my favorite characters from Naruto. So next Saturday 3/11/23 expect the 2,500 word chapter on him. We will return with D Ranks on 3/18/23.
