IIt was Thursday, November 7th, 1991, and a talking Patronus was making its way towards what still existed of Voldemort in the Albanian forest in which he had taken refuge.

Barty Crouch Jr. had been managing to keep Voldemort informed of events the best he could via Talking Patronuses.

Barty Crouch Jr. did not know about the Horcruxes that had been destroyed but he had been aware of several significant deaths that would hinder Voldemort's potential for a return to power.

It had been Barty Crouch Jr's talking Patronuses that had informed him of the demises of Snape, Lucius, and Dumbledore.

Voldemort felt a nasty sense of forbidding as this latest talking Patronus in the shape of a skull approached him.

"Wormtail has been sent through the Death Veil!" the talking Patronus informed Voldemort.

"NO!" screamed Voldemort.

Voldemort realized he was in a real bind now.

As far as he knew, there were now only two Death Eaters who were both still alive and guaranteed to be loyal to him: Bellatrix Lestrange and Barty Crouch Jr.

Bellatrix was entombed in Azkaban and Voldemort simply could not risk Bellatrix breaking out of Azkaban before he returned to power.

Bellatrix had been very vocal both in whilst in the midst of her arrest and while in Azkaban about her loyalty to the Dark Lord.

She had predicted that Lord Voldemort would come for her and break Azkaban open.

If Voldemort was to pull off his return quietly, Bella had to stay where she was for now. If she escaped now, it would arouse suspicions that would make it much harder for Voldemort to pull off his return without notice. Only once he, Voldemort, had a body again and was powerful again could Bellatrix come out of Azkaban.

This meant that Barty Crouch Jr. would have to be the servant to help return him to power.

Barty Crouch Jr. would happily provide the flesh of the servant needed for the Revival Potion.

In fact, Barty Crouch Jr. was so passionate about serving Lord Voldemort that he saw the pain he would endure as a result of providing the flesh of thee servant to be a great honor and a source of great personal pride.

But Voldemort needed help before that moment could come.

He needed an abled bodied servant who would lead Harry Potter to him.

Harry Potter, and only Harry Potter, would do for the blood of the enemy.

Unfortunately, Heather and Amelia knew both how to protect Harry and how to produce strong Secret Keeper Charms.

How to get at Harry Potter?

Surely there would come a time when Harry would have to leave his safe house.

One plan would be to have Barty Crouch Jr. use Polyjuice Potion as a way of getting at Harry Potter.

But there were major complications.

The Secret Keeper Charm was powerful enough to ward off unwelcome guests using Polyjuice Potion to disguise themselves so there was no chance of capturing Harry at Abbott Manor.

And there was no way of knowing when he might have to leave his safe house or where he'd have to go if he did.

And then there was the matter of getting Barty Crouch Jr. out from underneath his father's nose.

Voldemort knew that Barty Crouch Jr. was being controlled by his father to stop him from seeking out his master.

"That's it," thought Voldemort, "I've got to find a way to get Barty Crouch Jr. to meet me here in person. But how do i do that?"

Further complicating matters was that pesky house elf, Winky, Winky might be fond of Barty Crouch Jr, but her first and biggest loyalty was to Barty Crouch Sr.

If only Voldemort could separate Barty Crouch Jr, from his father and from Winky, there still might be hope for Voldemort.

At the very least Barty Crouch Jr. could act as an abled bodied servant and return Voldemort to a weak body while he awaited his true rebirth.

Voldemort was way too weak to even think of leaving this forest.

"I've got to get Barty Crouch Jr. here to me, " thought Voldemort desperately, "How? How? How?"
