Today is July 31st, 2021, Harry Potter's 41st birthday! Happy birthday Harry! :)
In this story, Harry, Amy, Susan, and Hannah are all July 31st babies and this is fluff-filler chapter set on their 12th birthday. I wanted to post a birthday themed chapter on July 31st.
Friday July 31st, 1992, was Harry's, Amy's, Susan's, and Hannah's 12th birthday.
Sirius, Remus, Amelia, and Heather had all spent some time the previous few nights planning a birthday celebration for Harry, Amy, Susan, and Hannah after Harry, Amy, Susan, and Hannah had gone to bed.
The night before Harry's, Amy's, Susan's, and Hannah's 12th birthday, after all four of the Yellow Quartet had fallen asleep, Heather had Topsy sneak into each of their rooms and stick a yellow sticky note into each of their hands without waking them. Heather had turned these yellow sticky notes into pretimed Portkeys that would bring Harry, Amy, Susan, and Hannah into the kitchen at their exact birthtime 4:44 A.M. on July 31st.
When these Portkeys activated, Harry, Amy, Susan, and Hannah all arrived in the kitchen wearing bright vivid yellow pajamas and bright vivid yellow slippers and found Sirius, Remus, Amelia, and Heather all waiting for them also all wearing bright vivid yellow pajamas and bright vivid yellow slippers.
The nanosecond the Yellow Quartet appeared in the kitchen, Sirius, Remus, Amelia, and Heather immediately burst into song.
"Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday Yellow Quartet. Happy birthday to you!" chroused Sirius, Remus, Amelia, and Heather.
Harry looked down at his watch and shouted "4:44 A.M.!"
Harry, Amy, Susan, and Hannah all felt as though an electric current had shot through them.
"Our exact birthtime!" chroused Harry, Amy, Susan, and Hannah.
"We decided to start the Yellow Quartet's 12th birthday celebration at your exact birth time, " said Heather warmly as Harry, Amy, Susan, and Hannah glowed, "Please wait here."
Harry, Amy, Susan, and Hannah relieved themselves of the sticky notes as they waited for Sirius, Remus, Amelia, and Heather to do what they were going to do.
Sirius, Remus, Amelia, and Heather all left the kitchen and returned a minute and a nanosecond later each carrying a cake.
All four cakes were a light yellow with a slightly darker but still light yellow frosting and each cake had twelve lit dark yellow candles atop it. Each cake had a message written atop it in lemonheads. All four cakes had the words Happy Birthday as the first part of the message and below those words on each cake was an individual name. Sirius had brought out Harry's cake, Remus had brought out Amy's Cake, Amelia had brought out Susan's cake, and Heather had brought out Hannah's cake.
Sirius, Remus, Amelia, and Heather set the cakes down on the kitchen table, which had yellow, and Sirius said, "The Yellow Quartet may blow out the candles."
Harry, Amy, Susan, and Hannah all blew simultaneously at the candles on their cakes and the flames all went out instantly.
"So," smiled Remus, "These cakes are all lemon flavored. We know that lemon is one of the Yellow Quartet's favorite flavors. "
"The cake itself, the frosting, and the lemonheads are lemon flavored. And the candles are really lemon flavored licorice, " grinned Amelia.
"Topsy's work, " said Heather proudly, "Topsy!"
Topsy appeared carrying four yellow paper plates, four yellow forks, four yellow knives, and four yellow plastic cups filled with lemonade.
Topsy spoke not a word but went straight to her work, having obviously been told in advance by Heather what to do here.
Topsy set a plate, knife, fork, and cup each down by Harry, Amy, Susan, and Hannah and took off again exclaiming, "Happy birthday to the Yellow Quartet and to all a good day."
Harry, Amy, Susan, and Hannah each sit his or her cake down on his or her plate and cut it into pieces for eating.
They all ate their cake somewhat slowly so as to savor the flavor of lemon while enjoying the lemonade they had to wash it down with.
Once the cake was gone, Heather pulled her wand out of her right hand pocket with her right hand.
Heather raised her wand and performed a nonverbal spell that caused forty eighty yellow balloons to emit from her wand.
"There are forty eight balloons here, " said Heather radiantly, "That represents the cumulative age of the Yellow Quartet. Now let's see the Yellow Quartet make some mess and noise."
Harry, Amy, Susan, and Hannah started popping the balloons in the various ways they could think of squeezing them with their hands, biting them, poking them with their wand tips, and stomping on them.
It was very loud and boisterous while Harry, Amy, Susan, and Hannah were popping the balloons, especially as they were adding their own screams after the pops.
When all of the balloons were popped, Harry, Amy, Susan, and Hannah started picking the balloon bits up off the floor and putting them in each other's hair, giggling away at each other as they did.
Amelia now pulled her wand out of her right hand pocket with her right hand and used a nonverbal spell to shoot yellow confetti at Harry, Amy, Susan, and Hannah and covering them in it, causing them to grin and laugh.
"This is so cool!" beamed Harry, "We really are the YELLOW quartet!"
"I'm having fun," cooed Amy, "Having the same birthday and birthtime as my three besties is totally awesome baby!"
"It's so cool that Sirius, Remus, Amelia, and mom actually sang happy birthday to us at our EXACT birthtime!" said Hannah glowingly, "Thanks a lot, Sirius, Remus, Amelia, and mom."
"Yes, thanks a lot, " agreed Harry, Amy, and Susan.
"It's nice that we get to have fun on our birthday," smiled Susan.
"Now, " grinned Sirius, "Let's go into the living room and the Yellow Quartet can receive their birthday presents.
Harry, Amy, Susan, and Hannah followed Sirius, Remus, Amelia, and Heather into the living room to discover sixteen packages wrapped in light yellow wrapping paper with images of bananas on it and dark yellow bows. The to tags all read ""The Yellow Quartet" and there were four from tags each from Sirius, Remus, Amelia, and Heather.
"Open mine first, " instructed Heather.
Harry, Amy, Susan, and Hannah all found the gifts from Heather and ripped away the wrapping paper and bows to discover bright vivid yellow school bags.
"While I've taught you here, you haven't needed school bags of course. Your old school bags were left behind at Hogwarts when I came to fetch you away from Hogwarts and bring you here. But, when you begin at Skyward School of Practical Sorcery, you will need school bags. The opening of Skyward School of Practical Sorcery is about a month away now you know, " explained Heather.
"These bags feel really sturdy, " observed Harry.
"They are made from high quality material and are bigger than your prior school bags, " confirmed Heather.
"Hard to believe the time to go to Skyward School of Practical Sorcery is so close now, " said Hannah thoughtfully.
"Yeah," agreed Susan, "You go along and things just kind of sneak up on you."
"Heather is brilliant, " exclaimed Amy, causing Heather to beam, "Getting us a really nice birthday present that is also practical!"
"So, " said Amelia seriously, "I too have gotten you gifts that are both nice and practical."
Harry, Amy, Susan, and Hannah opened Amelia's gifts to find brand new yellow fwooper feather quills.
"Now, " requested Amelia, "I'd prefer that the Yellow Quartet NOT start using these new quills until Skyward School of Practical Sorcery opens. Your old quills are still in decent shape, but it would be nice for you to start your careers at Skyward School of Practical Sorcery with new quills. "
"This is wonderful, " smiled Susan, "Celebrate our birthday while also helping to prepare us for our upcoming start at Skyward School of Practical Sorcery."
"The adults all felt that your 12th birthday would be a great day to combine celebrating and looking ahead, " said Remus in a businesslike voice, "Go for mine next."
Harry, Amy, Susan, and Hannah removed the wrapping paper from Remus's gifts to find brand new never worn bright vivid yellow dresses and matching yellow tennis shoes.
"I too am going to suggest waiting, " grinned Remus, "These dresses and shoes are brand new, and it would be the perfect way for you to start your careers at Skyward School of Practical Sorcery than to wear these brand new dresses and shoes for the first time on your first day as students at Skyward School of Practical Sorcery."
"Mom and I are going a day ahead to have a mother-daughter thanks to Harry's suggestion, " remembered Hannah.
"Don't count that towards this, " said Heather clearly, "Wear the new dress and shoes for the first time on the first official day."
"Why didn't we get high heels though?" Hannah asked her mother.
"We've been over this, Hannah, " said Heather in an exasperated voice, "High heels are terrible for your feet."
Hannah just sighed.
Sirius's gifts were what was left, and Harry, Amy, Susan, and Hannah tore the wrapping paper off of them to discover four mirrors with yellow trim.
"These mirrors are communication mirrors, " explained Sirius, "Remus, Amelia, Heather, and I all have one as well. People can talk to each other via these mirrors. Say the name of another owner of one of these mirrors into yours, and he or she will appear in yours and you'll be able to talk to him or her via the mirrors. Multiperson conversations are also possible with these mirrors. If two people are already using them, one of them can invite a third person by saying that person's name into his or her mirror. "
"Cool!" chroused Harry, Amy, Susan, and Hannah!
Harry, Amy, Susan, and Hannah exchanged grins with each other as they looked at their new communication mirrors.
